my favorite detail is during his boss fight Ramon begins to project the words of his father onto Leon, even calling him "a failure that should never of been born" he even refers to leon as "Pulgarcito" which means little thumb, the insult that caused him to throw the acid on the servants face
Something else really interesting I haven’t heard anyone mention yet is that in ramons remake fight, if you run around for a while without damaging him he tells Leon that his face reminds him of his father. Making him want to kill Leon even more apparently
Additionaly after the fight progresses enough Ramon has this line: "You tiny, ugly siclky halfwit, you should never have been born you demon child, i will send you back to hell were you came from" it's being too specific to not be from personal experience and (although I don't remember in exact detail) reinforced by him going absolutely ballistic after some "burn" from Leon, with Ramon screaming something like "Are you laughing and mocking me like all the other's, you will pay for it etc.... So p Remake Ramon might not have had good relations around him during his childhood (as stated already with his father and their own servants...).

However the village on the other hand seems to have made it in small cases, calling it madness, and it wasn't till the mid 1990s did the cult bestow the religion, a "cure" for madness, and plagas in full. Luis left as a boy after his grandpa was infected and returned after umbrella fell through in the 2000's giving means to mass produce plagas and the creation of the superior plagas that granted the user intelligence but still subservience. Luis and his connection to the village, seeing them all suffer like mindless drones, dying and over worked with the same affliction his grandpa had made him betray saddler.
Yeah it seems los iluminados cult had been around since the middle ages worshipping the plagas until they were exiled to an island and las plazas sealed in amber beneath the zalazar castle, who knows how long it was between that, the resurgence of cult, mass scale infection I am also very curious how did saddler managed to get near Krauser to infect him?

Yeah in the house keeper memo 1 it was stated that when Remon heard one of his servants talk behind his back by calling him "Pulgarcito" (meaning little thumb) he invited her to his room, made her kneel in front of him and then doused her face with a vial of vitriol melting her face, and he just grinned at the sight.
While I do like how the remake adds more lore in regards to Salazar's history and character, I ultimately prefer the original as the frequent back-and-forth radio chatter between him and Leon served as highlights of the game and were some of the most memorable quotes. "Your right hand comes off?"
We are going to feel bad for Ramon Salazar too. If we notice during the boss fight scene, he will say a line to Leon; “You tiny, ugly, sickly half-wit! You should have never been born you demon child! I will send you back to hell you came from!” This might indicate how Ramon Salazar was badly treated by his own family when he was young because of his appearances which led for him being deprived and discriminated leading for him to choose the wrong path as he grew up. Even in the file stated that one of his servant mocked him for his appearances which led for him to throwing the acid to his servant’s face. He was probably based on real life King of Spain named Charles II who was known for having abnormalities and being mocked by his own people.
I heard that line in a playthrough that I am watching and I agree with this and I also think the amazing music that plays during the boss fight in the remake really compliments Ramon's madness as well as his tragic journey to get there while he is shouting those things at Leon. It actually does make me feel sorry for him to some degree. I really love these tragic villains. He may not be as tragic of a character as Lisa Trevor or The Bakers, but he's up there for sure imo.
Killing Salazar was pretty cathartic in the original and the new one. Looking forward to the video on Krauser as I found his portrayal in both versions pretty interesting.
I feel like it would be an interesting future game where it's revealed that Salazar actually survived his encounter with Leon( given how his body was still intact in the remake following his death) and the las plagas cult has returned to cause trouble and it's up to Leon or Chris to put Salazar down for good
His desperate remarks during the final fight caused me an attack of compassion. I saw in him an offended child. I felt sorry for him. Why is he so mad? Maybe it was the environment that made him like this? Maybe one of the family members cruelly bullied him? Or maybe it was the disease that destroyed his psyche at an early age? And later the sectarians developed his dark side and he finally went crazy. We don't know everything. He was too young, sick and suggestible. A very interesting antagonist, I like to reflect on his story.
I read a fan fiction about him about his life, though it was in Spanish. in the remake, he looks like the main character of the clown from the Spanish film Sad Ballad for Trumpet
About time! Ramon Salazar became my favorite villain in the OG RE4 and still is on the Remake! No doubts he’s evil and sadistic than the og. Much more prestigious and reserved. Excellent video!💙💙💙
Great video that showcases his background and history. Ramon is my fave villain in the game, he may be pint sized, but his madness makes up for it. Awesome work!
What I always assumed from the first game was that the reason why Ramon Salazar looked so small and old-looking was because he was the final member in a long line of inbred aristrocrats, which is why the rest of the family died off at an early age and him being born sickly and with dwarfism. Because of his appearence, his failing health and his generally unpopular status among the locals, he was fairly easy manipulate and turn over to Osmund Saddler's cause. Only thing missing from the remake was some kind of reference to Resident Evil Village; a passing mention of Mother Miranda or a bottle of Sanguis Virginis at a dining table. Not that it would be to make an important connection, just a little tip of the hat to a game that would be inspired by the original RE4 in several ways.
Great points also the connection we can have with Re4 Remake and Village is with the merchant and The Duke, because I remember that that The Duke mentioned he knew him somehow.
maybe there are no connections since of the timeline? RE4 is in 2002 right? while RE8 plays like idk present times i assume ( never played it myself). So the wine was not produced back then perhaps? and the merchant could have met the duke years later. But you're right, it would have been done somehow to connect the dots.
Yeah 8 had its own problems, trying to rebottle lightning borrowing significant elements from 4 but executing them poorly. But I'm baised because I hate 1st person RE games and Ada was planned to be in it but wasn't which hurts because she could've referenced Los Illuminados or something
I think Los Illuminados has a connection to the ancient civilization whose ruins we find in both 4 and 8, and furthermore they might also be connected to the 'Family' that was presented as ruling over America in RE6. Furthermore, with RE7 and 8's own theme of 'family', I find it likely that 8's village was once an important nexus for the 'Families' and Miranda is unknowingly reviving this tradition by the events of 8.
I know a lot of ppl wanted a return of baby Ramon from the OG, but I for one thought the aged aristocrat we meet in the Remake is a vast improvement. Don't get me wrong -- I LOVE the OG Salzar! -- but for me, 20-year-old Salazar works better as the spoiled cruel young brat who is growing up in daddy's castle (while his father is still alive) and hasn't become the lord castellan yet. I can well imagine him terrorizing the servants (like that one we learn that he sadistically doused with that caustic substance) and counting down the days until he comes into his lordship and can start running things, like Joffrey. For the events of the game, it seems far more fitting that we would encounter an older Salazar who has been in charge for decades and is interested in the sorts of things that would hold no allure for a 20-year-old.
Salazar's boss fight is fantastic... but man, I really wish there was a build-up to it, like in the OG. They gave him chances in the original to be a pain in Leon's butt, but in the remake, they don't even talk except for when they first meet and during the boss fight. With the lore they added in this, I feel Salazar had a great chance at being a memorable villain just like his goofier counterpart in OG RE4, but they gave him too little screen time.
The music that plays during his boss fight was amazing as well. It kind of sounded twisted and tragic at the same time, especially when he is shouting those insults at Leon when it's really about his own vulnerabilities.
@serpent6827 I love all that, too 😭 I just wish they had let us build up a connection with Salazar through Leon. Even in the OG, as silly and less lore-heavy as it was, and even if the boss fight wasn't as good, it still had an impact when the sadistic gremlin character suddenly wasn't there anymore. Imagine if they had done the same in the remake, and had this boss fight as the climax... it just saddens me a bit is all. 😅
@@Annausagi2 Yeah I get that. I do remember Salazar having more screen time in the original game especially when he hacks Leon's comms. Which I was kind of waiting for but eh who knows why they didn't put that in. I felt that they did a similar thing in Village where Dimitrescu and Heisenberg got way more screen time than Donna and Moreau. Like Salazar in this remake, I especially found Moreau's backstory in Village to be kind of tragic regardless of some the atrocities that he committed and I really wished there were more scenes with him. I will say that this version of Salazar is far creepier and better designed but you definitely have some valid points. Lol, maybe we could have gotten more of a build up if impulsive Leon hadn't shot him mid sentence before the boss fight and I don't remember if he does the same thing in the original.
Both versions give a good insight into what Salazar was and is currently like. Regardless, he's a twisted soul that had to be put down. But most importantly, good to see another video from you @HeY DeVuH! 😊
5:05 so that's why he calls Leon his "Pulgarcito" during his boss fight. While I'm not too big of a fan of this new take on Ramón, I do like how they went with an insecure narcissist route for the character. He just really needed more screentime to be better developed.
The only thing I did not like about the remake version is the powdered wig like hair he has. The original model to me was a lot better. Everything else was better.
I'd say I prefer both versions of Salazar, but in my opinion the original Salazar had more revealed dialogue with Leon. I mean that fact why I enjoyed their enemy dynamic so much. It's so sad that in REmake developers decided to abstract from it. Yes, I know that in the boss fight there are some catch-phrases from original and etc. but to me, they seemed out of place ;)
To me it didnt seem out of place per say, Just to late. We here classic lines at the climax? Idk I was a bit bummed by it. That said I do kinda lean on this version more then the OG
It made more sense that Ramon didnt have access to Leon's CODEC. Besides, with the castle's intercom system, Ramon could just taunt Leon from his ivory tower which suited his character more. Plus, you can shoot the intercoms system much like how Leon did in the trap door scene in the original. The remake did the OG justice while also expanding upon the details.
Original Ramon was campy as fuck, it fit the mood of the game but I also like this more serious one, there were parts were the old one behaved like a cartoon villian
I agree, I wish there were more scenes of them going back and forth. They could have kept the serious tone of course. Maybe it was a time/pacing thing.
Voice actor gives me the chills and is very dope they did their damn job amazily and hands down should have put his Resident Evil Past. Sad that they got rid of this little hat but the original is better mainly because Leon's old man joke makes more sense. I'm glad so they added some details to the story and that he was already evil little piece of garbage Update I looked what Pulgarcito it translate to Thumbnail😅😅
Yeah the Banter between the two was great in the original but they did have some great moments here in the Remake as well. Anyways thank You so much for watching!!!
I don't think too many jokes are okay in a game like this. I wanna feel scared or intimidated, don't want the game to have so much goofyness and so many jokes like the original did, so I do love the remake more.
I'm mixed about Ramon, while he is more evil and vile, he's given less screentime and more memorable lines. Just kind of feels like he's barely in the game.
I prefer the original but they're both fantastic. The original RE4 feels like a comfy campy b movie. The remake is a work of art and Salazar's role in it really fleshes out the setting. So while he doesn't chew the scenery as much he's definitely just as present.
Great video! Although the Resident Evil 4 remake is out, I'm still playing a lot of the original on mobile. In fact, on my latest episode of my RE4 series, I just passed through the cabin with Louis and both paths. It was intense! Keep up the great work!
11:58 I've never played the original and never heard Saddler talk before so when every Skyrim nord ever started talking to me in a Resident Evil video I was a little spooked. 😂😂
I never played the original, but I thought it was really interesting to hear about his original portrayal. Seeing both versions here, I think they made smart creative choices in the remake. He seems more horrific, and has more depth which fits what I love about Resident Evil
I sure missed Salazar's playful, charismatic and proud demeanour as well as his look with the hat from the OG more especially on how he treated and talked to Leon, most of their interactions are so memorable and the joke were fun to have despite of his true cruel nature. If only they haven't changed Salazar's look this drastically and took away his charm, I might get a chance to appreciate the remake but at this point, I can only see them as two character bearing the same name yet acted so differently to make them the same individual they once were known for. I also think that the way he called out to Saddler's name before his death is out of character for him.
I dont think he calling out saddler is out of place. If you read some pages in tge game, it tells us that ramon get close to saddler while he was younger. He was an ass while he was still young and human, then saddler kinda exploit that trait of him.
My only complaint is the remake didn't have him say anything about only being 20 or even have any notes about it. It would have been even more shocking to hear now since the remake version actually looks really old. But other than that I like him a lot more In the remake.
I thought Ramon's face looked the way it did because he was wearing venetian ceruse. It's a type of lead-based foundation nobility used to wear. It would totally destroy your skin.
I feel like the remake leaves the door open for Salazar to return given how his body was intact unlike the original game where his body was later merged and melted with Queen plaga , that would be an interesting future game idea where it's revealed the Salazar survived Leon and the las plagas cult has resurfaced and it's to Leon to put him down for good .
Might I suggest you exploring the characters of Capcom's overlooked classic survival horror game, Haunting Ground? WOuld love to hear your take and analysis on them.
I like the new Salazar better than the old one, he's much scarier/menacing than the original. His face looks like it came from an IT movie clown but without the makeup, that creepy, loving it.
I pickup a both versions original is good and remake is not bad he looks like evil king in real life and love how their put his family background story so we can learning about it and well royal families always mess when next generation doing worse thing like Ramon and Alexander Ashford🙂..glad you came back to the channel😄
I bet the second verdugo will be the new U3. This makes the most sense because Ada has no connection to Krauser in Remake. Second, having a second fight with Krauser would diminish the impact of his death. I really hope to get an amazing fight with U3 in the containers!
Please, talk about Adam Saddler and all Saddler's family tree that the tombs on the island introduces us to. Nobody in the internet's talking about this...
Can you also do a video about the Saddler family? It seems that there have been more than one Saddler named in the remake but I cannot peace it together what the lore about them is.

He was probably based on real life King of Spain named Charles II who was known for having abnormalities and being mocked by his own people.
There is also a line where he goes ballistic at one of Leon's combacks screaming about "being laughed at and mocked as other's did"
@@whywright2663 Which part? 😮
@@maryanneayumi9594 if I remember correctly right before his death (most miss it cause they immediately blast him with shotgun)
Lot's of character's don't like salazar including saddler and I'm starting to wonder if this includes salazar himself
He’s my favorite character in the game. He’s just.. amazing. I loved him this remake!!
You like the gremlin George Washington? 😭
@@wonderfulrose477 yes😭😭
@@bellablossomz fr hes the homie i like the way he talks Meester Kennedy
I love him too. Doesn’t get enough love!
What's your ppic from?
@@aidasaid2944What is the name of the fan fic?

About time! Ramon Salazar became my favorite villain in the OG RE4 and still is on the Remake! No doubts he’s evil and sadistic than the og. Much more prestigious and reserved. Excellent video!💙💙💙
For some reason i like when he says "Mr. Kennedy Mr. Kennedy" with a fist in the remake
I really loved that Leon shot the dogsh!t out of him when he finally got to him 😂 He did exactly what we wanted
Great video that showcases his background and history. Ramon is my fave villain in the game, he may be pint sized, but his madness makes up for it. Awesome work!
Thank You very very much and glad you enjoyed the game
That's exactly what I wanted a connection between re village and re 4 would have been cherry on the cake unfortunately there's not
maybe there are no connections since of the timeline?
@serpent6827 I love all that, too 😭
I just wish they had let us build up a connection with Salazar through Leon.
Seeing all these character deep dives are awesome 😆
You legit have one of the best voices I’ve ever heard. Please continue to talk
Thank You so much!!!
5:05 so that's why he calls Leon his "Pulgarcito" during his boss fight. While I'm not too big of a fan of this new take on Ramón, I do like how they went with an insecure narcissist route for the character. He just really needed more screentime to be better developed.
He was perfect in the remake shutup clown
Remake Salazar is much creepier and better than the original version.
The only thing I did not like about the remake version is the powdered wig like hair he has. The original model to me was a lot better. Everything else was better.
Saddler really out here like “I am the jarl of falkenreath!”
Did Everyone Save The Wolf this time too? 💁🏿♂️🐺
I did
Sure did
Nope😈
Duh. That's my dog 🐕 ❤️
Of course, I’m not a monster!
18:17
Leon: "Okay Nanpleon Blown-apart."
I wish they'd still had him speak of his age. He was like in his early 20's in the first RE4.
9:58 shortly greeted? That's just uncalled for! WHY?! YOU WORM!
@@Deepstab1 I loved it so much lol
I agree, I wish there were more scenes of them going back and forth. They could have kept the serious tone of course. Maybe it was a time/pacing thing.
Voice actor gives me the chills and is very dope they did their damn job amazily and hands down should have put his Resident Evil Past. Sad that they got rid of this little hat but the original is better mainly because Leon's old man joke makes more sense. I'm glad so they added some details to the story and that he was already evil little piece of garbage
Update I looked what Pulgarcito it translate to Thumbnail😅😅
Yeah the Banter between the two was great in the original but they did have some great moments here in the Remake as well. Anyways thank You so much for watching!!!
I don't think too many jokes are okay in a game like this. I wanna feel scared or intimidated, don't want the game to have so much goofyness and so many jokes like the original did, so I do love the remake more.
here i thought i was the only one in the world knowing all those details. well done mate
Very well said
I don't understand anything of the game but it's entertaining to watch your videos.
Thank You!!!
Oooh nice! I hope to see one for Osmund Saddler & chief Mendez! These back stories are always fascinating.
This is a really well done video dude, cool to see all the backstory stuff i missed
Beautiful work, really can't wait for the Bitores Mendez part, only the Big Cheese himself can compete with Ramon if we talk about fanaticism
I really hope you cover Saddler as well! I have not played the remake but I hope even a little bit more light is shed on him.
Absolutely outstanding video thanks DeVuH!🙂👍🏻👍🏻
The way Roman Salazar acts like a child when he's angry in the original game makes to make me laugh.
Holy crap I can't unhear it now
His remake portrayal is awesome! A lot more serious and intimidating!
Glad to see a new video by you HeY DeVuH
18:26 The 2nd Verdugo will probably be in the remake version of Separate Ways for Ada to fight.
I never played the original, but I thought it was really interesting to hear about his original portrayal. Seeing both versions here, I think they made smart creative choices in the remake. He seems more horrific, and has more depth which fits what I love about Resident Evil
I can say salazar is more darker in a way in the remake compared to his more child like interaction in the original.
''I've sent my right hand to dispose of you.''
''Your right hand comes off?''
This quote lives rent free in my head.
Re 4 OG fanboys biased asf. Salazar is way better than the original. Salazar was a joke in the original and a dumbass.
Bunch of crybaby's 😆
Saddler is his masters
I dont think he calling out saddler is out of place. If you read some pages in tge game, it tells us that ramon get close to saddler while he was younger. He was an ass while he was still young and human, then saddler kinda exploit that trait of him.
The goat has returned!
I actually like his redesign, the hair completes the Dracula’s castle look
Just wanted to say I truly love each videos they are great 🙏
Finally a new video!!! Thank You
Ramon is a very different character. I liked the voice acting. Unique accent.
Great job on the lore as always, but why show all that footage or Margaret Thatcher???
Thank You!!!
Out of all of the character redesigns of this remake, I can easily say that this little guy is my favorite
The lore is always so intriguing, can't wait for the mercenaries free DLC April 7th!
My only complaint is the remake didn't have him say anything about only being 20 or even have any notes about it. It would have been even more shocking to hear now since the remake version actually looks really old. But other than that I like him a lot more In the remake.
I agree. I really like the new voice and design. Hopefully seperate ways will have dialogue or a note saying he’s only 20.
I thought Ramon's face looked the way it did because he was wearing venetian ceruse. It's a type of lead-based foundation nobility used to wear. It would totally destroy your skin.
I always new Salazar was evil, but in the Remake he's completely insane...
You can find a wind up og ramon toy. In the main story.
Just found your channel, thank you algorithm! 1:30 love the use of Clocktower 2 music
I have only one important question...what happened to the second Verdugo?
I have the same question, though I've heard it may show up in the separate ways DLC
@@HeYDeVuH yes I have thought of that too, and I think Ada will face the female cultist escort we get to see next to Saddler
8th generation of people...Leon S Kennedy THE TERMINATOR arrives at the village....every infected died..then redied when everything exploded
You sound like the original voice actor who voiced Leon
I feel like the remake leaves the door open for Salazar to return given how his body was intact unlike the original game where his body was later merged and melted with Queen plaga , that would be an interesting future game idea where it's revealed the Salazar survived Leon and the las plagas cult has resurfaced and it's to Leon to put him down for good .
Might I suggest you exploring the characters of Capcom's overlooked classic survival horror game, Haunting Ground? WOuld love to hear your take and analysis on them.

What happened to his other verdugo though?
Separate Ways dlc.
I wondered the same thing, because we didn't get to see him mutate alongside Ramon
It's weird that Salazar's face looking like queen elizabeth or maybe it's just me
I was a little disappointed that Ramon didn't have his hat in this version
Same here, though I did like they brought back his Statue and it looked exactly like his version from the Original RE4
I like the new Salazar better than the old one, he's much scarier/menacing than the original. His face looks like it came from an IT movie clown but without the makeup, that creepy, loving it.
Dude when’s the next video? Love the content can’t wait to see what you come out with now with rem4ke
Remake Ramon is scarier than original
I pickup a both versions original is good and remake is not bad he looks like evil king in real life and love how their put his family background story so we can learning about it and well royal families always mess when next generation doing worse thing like Ramon and Alexander Ashford🙂..glad you came back to the channel😄
Well this just got you a new sub.
Also what happen with the other verdugo ? They only show the one you fight and the other was MIA
My guess is Ada dlc. Since they didn't fully forget him. They wrote lore for him in the throne room
I bet the second verdugo will be the new U3. This makes the most sense because Ada has no connection to Krauser in Remake. Second, having a second fight with Krauser would diminish the impact of his death. I really hope to get an amazing fight with U3 in the containers!
Can we just take a minute on how engulfed we get from a game 😅👌love all the history behind it
Bro, where have you been? It’s been forever since you posted a video.
At least you can look at it long enough to judge it symmetrically and not meme it at the same time now.
We really need a costume for him that gives him his tricorne back
I am glade you went into detail I didn’t know it was this deep.
Please, talk about Adam Saddler and all Saddler's family tree that the tombs on the island introduces us to. Nobody in the internet's talking about this...
Is Ramon still only 20 years old in the remake? Or is he a lot older? This was never made clear in the remake.
Not to mention the achievement for defeating him is called No thanks, Bro. An iconic line
Where's his 18th century hat though? that was iconic for him I think.
Can you also do a video about the Saddler family? It seems that there have been more than one Saddler named in the remake but I cannot peace it together what the lore about them is.
The music that comes in at 14:47 sounds familiar. Do you have a link to it?
Dude in the remake looks like Dr.Zomboss.😂
In all fairness, the plaga being extremely sensitive to light likely didn't want to see the light of day.
