I have a brand new RV and have the same problem! Thor sent me a new control module and power cable by still doing same as yours. I have an appointment at dealer in 2 says and will have them start with checking motor connections. Thanks
Had the same thing happen to my 2014 Thor Tuscany motorhome and it was the red wire that had broke loose from the solder joint on the motor. This happened on our way home to Arizona from Wallace Idaho. It was an easy fix, but I used a hot glue gun to secure the wires to the motor. No more stress at the solder joint.
No mechanical skills here but thanks for helping me understand the system. Can't get in for repairs for a month and a half and then who knows how long til I get it back...
Good video! Our 2014 Thor Windsport 27K with 16’ slide out had a problem in that the motor would pull the slide in and then the motor would run backward on the front and let the bottom of the slide go out about 1/4”. I talked to Lippert rep on the phone. He said bad motor. Ordered a new one and got it replaced. Same problem. It was actually jumping one tooth in the top track. My dealer took it in and put a repair kit with new plastic blocks in. The problem was that the track wheel had broken in the center and had made the hole in the center 1/4” larger than the shaft in the center. I now have a spare motor and a smooth sliding slide out.
Hi! Been following you a little while here on YT and enjoy the videos. Love seeing the kids growing, learning and having fun with each other and the animals. Thanks for sharing the tips. Our 21' Rockwood Ultralite is 5 years old. Little things are starting to wear and thanks for giving us a heads up on these small things that might need repair. The videos you produce are easy to follow and I love watching them. We are in SC and have been camping closer to home this year. Just got back from Bryson City at Deep Creek Tubing Center and Campground. Nice family campground. Also have been to several SC State Parks recently Kings Mt near Fort Mill. They are a bit busier but still not overcrowded and having fun getting out and exploring His world. Keep on doing the good work and safe travels this summer! Beth and Keith
Had a major problem with ours on our last trip (April of 22) did some initial troubleshooting and was able to get it back in with the manual override. These slides are made by Lippert/Schwintek and have known problems especially on bigger slide rooms. I called our manufacturer (Northwoods Mfg) and they asked me for my VIN number. They said if I can get it to them they would fix it. We were in Washington state and were 6 hrs from their facility in Eastern Oregon and were able to detour. They had the parts and the guys to do the work. They had to replace all the components including the rails. I was told that Lippert went with inferior materials in certain lots as Northwoods was able to track them via the VIN number. Our manufacturer covered the material and labor on the replacement as well. These guys stand behind their builds and I don't believe that an Indiana builder would have done that for us as we were out of warranty. My recommendation would be to buy an extended warranty if you have a Lippert/Schwintech rail slide. Our next RV will have a rack and pinion system. Its not always the motor or wiring. Ours was popping as it went in and out and then finally just stopped. In addition I had been lubricating it religiously and it still failed.
Our slide motor was failing because it was installed incorrectly, but grand design stepped up and repaired it even though it was way out of warranty. Great info on fixing the motors yourself. A good way to diagnose is to switch the motors at the controller, and use the switch in the opposite position. That will tell you if it is the motor or the controller. Larry
Probably one of the better videos of fixing a Schwintek slide system. Wires breaking at the solder joints seem to be fairly common. Loose mounting screws are an issue too. Would love to see a video of exactly where to lubricate the "GIB" etc. I have the Lippert recommended lubricant but aren't exactly sure where to spray it. We have a 2021 Jayco and it's our first one with a slide. Not sold on it's reliability now that we've been investigating it. Not sure I'd buy another with a slide to begin with, especially a Schwintek...
Very helpful! My control panel is at floor level under my slide! And installed upside down. I have a 2021 Forest River Salem FSX 280 RT Toy Hauler Camper And the slide is the dinette. It’s going to be very difficult to access those motors because there’s only about 8 inches of room between the slide and the fireplace and the slide and the bed!
Thanks for your info on slide repair. It is not a scary as I expected. Still a lot of investigation to find the problem. Who would expect a soldered wire to break loose. I currently have slide issues with my coach. But it is a the shop for repair as I just purchased it
I just dealt with this on a brand new unit. Just got it back from repair after 2 months, and within a day, got the same issue. Wire Short. IT seems as though Holiday World just replaced the slide out track and never looked at the motor for issues. Last time, I tried the manual override and it made the problem worse (broke the slide mechanism). Hoping for better this time
Hey thanks for sharing. Just landed in Kentucky. Got the same code you got. Was banging my head trying open the slide a little just to try and get to that screw. Tomorrow hopefully I will conquer it. Thanks again. New sub and follower.
Did you try to put the slide controller into manual mode? The controller might show you a code like it did in my vid. Otherwise, I would think that if one of the wires at the connection broke that is power, it might not make any noise at all. Let me know how it goes!
Hey, I need to do what you did in this video, but I can’t get the left side to move out to access the screw to release the motor. The manual 6 presses then hold the 7th doesn’t help. How can I get the left side to move out without the motor? Thanks.
THANK YOU. I just bought a 2016 Jayco Pinnacle and one of the slides is acting exactly the same way with the exact same fault code. I have been looking for a screw through the Wire and have found nothing going to the motors next.

How can I move the slide out out to get to the motor? I tried the override and the one side doesn't move. What can I do to get it out enough to get to that screw
So we’ve been out a lot. We went to Bryce Canyon Utah for five days. I’d say the only good thing with this thing that is going on is. The crowds are low and very few non American travelers. To bad Disney land isn’t open. And just this week we dry camped on are land in AZ and then went to KOA in Williams AZ for two days to recoup. Now we are back at home base to reassess. Great video. I was having a similar problem, but after putting it in manual mode, it works fine. Is there something I need to do to "deactivate" manual mode now that it's working?
Great vid. Does that exterior motor retention screw actually go into a hole in the motor, of just up against the motor housing? I'm replacing a motor today. It's already removed. One side of slide wasn't working. I really wish I would have checked for codes first! Maybe I could have saved $200 with some soldering, smh...

Did not need to guess which motor was the issue. The error code had the green light flash once them the red glasses. One green flash is motor one which is the one towards the front of the RV. Who green flashes is motor two towards the rear.
I have a question for you I’m having the same problem I went to manual mode but he only open one side I found the motor but the motor spinning in its place shouldn’t be doing that
I have attempted this same procedure but my motor is not dropping all the way, it appears as though the coupler is not going down all the way on the torque shaft and that is holding the motor up about 1/8 of an inch. Not sure this can operate that way.

fortunate that you could operate the slide switch and reach both sides at the same time next to the man door. A bedroom slide on a fifth wheel would have been a little harder.
