We are all so sorry about your loss. Losing one's parents is a real challenge for all of us. Please take really good care of yourself during your time of mourning. It is important. As a 76 year old woman I want to encourage you in your journey discovering your gray hair. All my life my brown hair was fine and straight, and now it is thicker, and actually has a nice wave in it! What a happy surprise! It is looking better than ever, and I am enjoying it.
thank you so much Ellen 💕 That's great to know, I'm really looking forward to seeing my natural colour shine through.x
So sorry to hear of your mum passing such a sad time. I lost my mum many years ago, miss her terribly. I embraced going grey last year and have not looked back..welcome to the exclusive silver fox ladies ❣❣
thank you Susan 💕
Tow things Cheryl. First blessings to you as you mourn your Mom. May you celebrate her life with peace and thanksgiving. Second way to go with your hair!! I started not dying my hair when I was 48 (I’m now 61) and i haven’t looked back. You are lovely just as you are!
Rhonda Lorch thank you so much Rhona 💖
Great sympathy for your loss. How lovely to celebrate your Mom’s life with bright colors. Best of luck going grey. It took me 3 years but my hair is longer. I only wish I’d done it earlier. I love the natural white streaks I now have.
thank you Lisa 💕 I love natural white and grey, enjoy yours and well done for persevering.x
Lovely to see you back, so sorry to hear about your mum. I made the sapporo coat earlier this year and really love it. I made it with a length of mohair suiting I bought over thirty years ago! Beautiful fabric but a little on thick side so I didn't do the double cuff, just attached a turn back piece and lined it to that point. That worked very well and solved the problem of the very thick seam at the sleeve join.
thank you Glenys 💕 Wow, fabulous you got to use your mohair suiting after all this time. Now I don't feel so bad about the length of time my fabric sits in my stash, ha ha.x Great tip on the sleeve, thank you.
My sympathies on the loss of your Mum.
As far as you hair goes....good for you! I went natural grey about 9 years ago at about 42 and my only regret was not doing it sooner because I had been grey under the dye for many years. I love mine and have never regretted it. A huge saving at the hairdresser but also it feels so nice to not have to put all those chemicals on my head.
Thanks for the review, I have been thinking of this pattern!
thanks Leanne, your hair looks fabulous 🌷
What a lovely and loving video Cheryl. Beautiful coat too. I’m powering through the Jasika Blazer from Closet Case Patterns and slowly sewing it as I watch her online class. I can’t even fathom how the people on the Great British Sewing Bee could make a coat in 5-6 hours! I’m slowly learning and enjoying the process. Hugs to you.
thank you Loriann 💕 Ha ha yes I thought about the Sewing Bee too when I was making this one, there's no way I would have done it in 5 hours without making a tonne of mistakes, it really does annoy me that show ha ha. Enjoy your slow sewing, it's by far the best way.x
You will look just beautiful with your natural color hair. My hair was the same color as yours and I grew mine out last year. I get more compliments now than I ever did before. Now my hair has depth, when it was black it was just dark, for my entire life- boring. Now it’s fun, I just love it. And.....if you don’t like it you can always color it but I think you’re going to love silver hair.
thanks JoJo, I'm hopeful it'll be more interesting on me too, as you say, a block of colour is a bit dull. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours 🌷
I also have a hair related tip-I am a retired hairdresser, and to get you through the "rough patch" of growing out the gray/white, I suggest you have your hair stylist give your hair a foil and do some highlights with the colors of white and gray. It can be done in such a way to look quite natural, and will look really nice while you go through this transitioning period!! Just a tip-I hope you take it in the kind spirit it was intended!! :+) Diane
aww, thanks Diane 😊 I know its an option, I just prefer it natural. My curls will thank me later.x
So lovely to see you back. I’ve missed your vlogs which are very informative and honest. X
thank you so much Jackie
Condolences Cheryl xx I lost my mum on 20th Feb but you have inspired me to make the Sapporo coat in a pink and grey tartan love your channel you are a lovely lady xx
tina mccolm thanks Tina, I’m so sorry for your loss too 💖
So sorry for your lost, I know too well how difficult it is. I love your makes and specially that coat which I had one similar in 1985!!!! I have been going gray for 10 yrs now, got my first gray hair when I was 12! Now I am embracing them :-) so nice too see you again, have a wonderful day. Christine
thank you Christine, you too 🌷
So sorry about your mum. Mine was the same age when we lost her 3 years ago. Too young. I love your dress, I bought a dress from a charity shop for my mum's funeral, with the intention of giving it away again afterwards, but its still hanging there! I didn't sew then. Your Sapporo is lovely too, I also used Sophia's sew along for mine. Its good to see you back!
thanks Heather 💕 So sorry for your loss too.x
Awww sending a big hug. Watching this reminded me of just how much I miss my mum. Your dress is beautiful and your mum would of been looking down at you smiling seeing how beautiful you looked.
thanks Bev, so sorry for your loss too 💕
Great to see you back Cheryl. The dress you made is lovely and the coat is too. Loving the grey look. I’m trying that too but wasn’t sure best way to do it, so think I’ll just let it grow put like you. Thanks as always for sharing. Great tips as always😻
thanks Agnes 🌷 The root touch up sprays are good if you feel you need to 'dress up', although I'm enjoying just being me most of the time, but I guess it's easier as I work alone, ha ha. Just the dog to impress here :-) Hubs isn't keen, he said he married a brunette, but I swiftly reminded him I married a man with hair and that was the end of that little conversation, ha ha.x
Sorry to hear your news, Cheryl. It’s a hard time, but all will be well. The dress you made is beautiful and I hope you will enjoy wearing it and making happy new memories in it. Funny you brought up the hair thing... I met someone in passing recently (an estate agent showing us round a house) and she was also just starting out on growing out the grey. She was obviously quite self-conscious about it, as she brought it up, but I hadn’t noticed, just thought she looked chic! As you do! Glad you’re back. I look forward to more sewing and fabric advice. X
thanks Anne 💕 There are lots of us doing it, I really notice more ladies now.x
I understand your sorrow, as I have had the same experience. You sound good and I am glad. I was just starting the Sapporo Coat (in blue wool), so, naturally I was thrilled to see your review and your tips. I hope mine turns out half as nice as yours. My hair is greying and I do love it - it has a way of softening the lines in your face, not that you have any. I am almost 70 and my hair is still almost black, just starting to grey. I am thrilled to see the grey coming in and feel I have earned a beautiful head of gorgeous grey hair. Yours will be beautiful! I did subscribe to your Instagram channel. Have a wonderful week and God Bless.
thank you Dana 💕 Yes I agree about the grey softening lines, it really does. There are lots of lovely pics on Instagram of ladies in a similar position to us.x Have a wonderful week too.
So sorry to hear of your loss, make sure you look after yourself and take things at your own pace x
thank you so much 💕
Ohhhhh so glad to have you back bless you😍. Love your wonderful makes they are fab I too grew out my grey hair a year ago and I don’t have any regrets it’s got me tons of compliments as to how it suits me and asked where I had the streaks done it’s grew out so gracefully and so so so much cheaper 😂😂also English Couture have silk organza pressing cloths and in two sizes and pressing technique videos too and the cloths last for ages I’ve had mine 8 years 👍
thanks Wendy 💕 thanks for the reassurance too, I'm looking forward to seeing my greys.x Great tip about the cloths, thank you.
Beautiful dress and such a lovely fabric choice. I’ve been saving mine for the perfect pattern
thanks Pat 💕 enjoy your viscose, it's lovely.x
I went gray about 7 years ago when I turned 52. Best thing I ever did. I love being gray and I get lots of compliments. You are going to look beautiful. Sorry to hear about your loss. Take care. Love your site.
thanks Lisa, great to hear gray is gonna be ok 💕💕
Your so lovely person! Thank you for all your useful and helpful video. I wish I was living close to you and be able to get learn sewing from you. Thank you again. God bless you 😘
Jowan Faraidon thank you so much Jowan for your kind words 💐😘
It's so lovely to see you back Cheryl, I know just what you have been going through, take care , and good for you on embracing the grey!!! I am about to do the same but with me being so fair I'm going to have it dyed silvery the next time at the hairdressers so it will just hopefully be the same colour as it grows xxx
Stitched Up! Thanks Rach 😘 Fab idea, you’ll look amazing. Xx
Sweet Cheryl ... Thank you for showing us the photo of your lovely Mum. She was beautiful. I can only imagine how proud of you she must have been for starting a business doing what you love and for being such an important member of our sewing community. Love to you, sent with hope that you're taking very good care of yourself. ♥
thank you so much 💕

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum. I hope that everything else has been going well enough for you that you've had time and space to do whatever helps you most. It's great to have you back, with - as ever - another lovely, and helpful, video.
thanks Neve 💕
Haya. Sending love & thoughts to you. Your makes are lovely. So wonderful how you had sewn your lovely dress just the day before. Thanku for sharing. Anna. x
thank you Anna 💕
So sorry to hear about your mother. I bet she was as beautiful as you are! I love your dress! I have let my gray grow out over a year ago and it is one of the best decisions I have made and get way more complements. You are an inspiration and appreciate your videos. Thank you for your time. Take care. Marian
thanks Marian 💕 Great to know you're enjoying embracing your natural grey too.x
Glad to see you back. Was thinking about you x
Thanks Jan 💕
Lovely to see you back. I am so sorry to hear about your mum. It does get gradually easier to bear, but yes, the first months are very hard. I lost my mum many years ago when I was only 21, but there still isn’t a day that goes by without me thinking of her. Your dress and coat are both beautiful. Xx
thank you Sara, much love to you.x
So glad yr back cheryl, lovely tribute to yr mum at the end xx
thank you. x She watched every one of my blogs, bless her.x
Cheryl, so sorry for your loss, such a lovely idea to stitch something to get through such a difficult time. So pleased you'll be wearing your true hair style too, i think it will look elegant and chic. Love the vlogs. Look forward to more when you can xo
Claire Ingram thank you Claire 💖
Oh Cheryl, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mum.
I love that fabric, I bought it from you when you had it!
It’s good to see you back xx
Thanks Sandie 💕xx
My condolences Cheryl.
I think you will look sophisticated with grey hair. I have a pronounced grey streak, I figure I earned it, why not show it off, lol.
Your makes are beautiful.
That is a beautiful picture of your mum, thanks for sharing. Take care
thank you so much 💕x
Ha ha, totally agree, enjoy your streak.x
So sorry to hear about your mum. Sending hugs and prayers your way.
The coat looks gorgeous. I may have to make one too.xx
thank you so much 🌷
I'm so very sorry to hear about your mum Cheryl. Your dress and coat are both fabulous makes, and you are so much braver than me in growing out your grey! I started going grey at 16 and have been dying it ever since (I'm now 49), I look forward to watching the progress!
thanks Joanne 🌷 I just new it was time for me, and I'm glad to excited about seeing the greys come through rather than dread having to dye to again :-)
Sorry for your loss Cheryl. Your dress is beautiful and I love your coat. So nice to have you back 😘 xx
thanks Katrina 🌷
I'm so sorry for your loss Cheryl. Thank you so much for posting the video at such a sad time. It's very brave of you.
I think your grey hair is going to really suit you! I look forward to seeing it progress. Congratulations on taking the plunge x
thank you Rachael 💕x
Oh I'm so very sorry for your loss Cheryl. You've done so well to make this video so soon after. Thank you for taking the time and both the dress and coat are beautiful xxx
thank you Tina 💕
So sorry to hear about your mom's passing. No matter what your age, it's never easy to become an orphan. She will always be with you. Love your red coat. I've not wanted to make Sapporo Coat in the past. This is so cute on you, I may have to reconsider. Thank you for this video.
Christina thank you Christina 💖
So sorry to hear the sad news about your mum Cheryl. I love the dress and the idea behind it. Your saporo coat is beautiful, nearly makes me want to make my own, maybe next year!
thank you 💕 It's a lovely project and I've had so many compliments on it already.
Cheryl, my heart goes out to you for the loss of your mother. It's so hard to loose our parents. I think you are brave to have made a special (and beautiful) dress and to let your hair go natural. Best of luck with that. I think you will look gorgeous with your new color. Loved the coat and am excited to see the bias application on the shower caps. Thanks for doing a video when you probably didn't much feel like it.
thank you Kathy, it's a pleasure making my videos for you 💕
Condolences I also made a suit with borders made in silk which I had to sew by hand. This keep me busy while my father was in the hospital. I love your things you make. Keep doing it this is good therapy
thank you Elsa, that sounds like good therapy 🌷
I'm so so sorry to hear about your mum Cheryl! I know how heart breaking it is, luckily, my mum is still with us, but my dad and my maternal aunt has both passed away and I think about them every single day! Your dress seems ideal, I know that my mum would prefer people to be in nicer colours than black, because she is fun loving and cheery! Your coat is amazing! Also, I think that you will carry your white hair off beautifully! Pleased to see you back and, as always, TFS 👍❤💕💕
thank you so much Hazel. Sorry for your losses too 💕
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙏🏻 you are so beautiful you will be just as beautiful with your gray. I love your dress. I’m thinking of buying the jacket pattern. It looks very comfortable. I’m going to look at the tutorial you mentioned. Thank you so much for the video. 💕
thanks Sandy 💕💕x
You have my deepest sympathy on your mother’s passing. The dress is lovely. I have been grey since age 26, and fought it for 19 yrs. iI decided to embrace my grey a year ago, and I’m glad I did. It was an adjustment going from deep auburn to this color and some days I miss the auburn. What i don’t miss is the hassle and the expense. If you feel it’s time, then go for it.
thank you so much 💕 Your hair looks beautiful.x
You are in my thoughts and prayers Cheryl as you go through this sorrowful time. My advice: take it a day at a time, cry when you want to cry, laugh when you want to laugh. There are no rules. Don’t apologize for how you feel. It will take time to manage your grief. 😘
thank you so much 💕
Lovely to see you back Cheryl. Sorry for the loss of your mum.💗
thank you Kim 💕
So sad for your loss. I’ve recently discovered your vlogs and love all the extra sewing tips that you include. Take care, Cheryl
thank you Anita 💕
I am so sorry for your lost. I hope your heart and soul heals quickly and you feel better soon. Your mom will always be in your heart, your memory and in your dreams.
thank you Kris, she will 🌷
Oh love, only just listened to the first few seconds but my heart goes out to you.You are a lovely person and I want to reach out to you.You are very brave sharing this with all of us. Be strong.Hugs and hugs.Susan.xx
aww thank you Susan 💕💕x
Lovely to see you back Cheryl. So sorry to hear about your mum...it's been a pretty tough few months for you. Love the idea of making that beautiful dress and making the wake one of colour and good memories. Your coat is gorgeous and really suits you. I'm also stuck in the colour trap...I went grey in my twenties! I took the shade right down to ash blonde a few years ago - I'm naturally a very dark brown - so I've been able to get away with a colour every 6 weeks which is not so bad. I got rid of the dark colour a little drastically though by having it cut very short...which I absolutely hated...and it seemed to take forever to grow back. Grey will look beautiful on you. Hugs xxx
thank you Kathie 💕 I too went grey in my twenties, so glad to be stopping the dye. Thanks for your kind words 💕x
Sorry to hear about your Mum Cheryl. Good to see you back and thanks for taking the time to review the Sapporo.
thank you Claire 😘
Sorry for your loss . I am sure it has been a difficult time. You are a lovely lady and you will look fantastic with grey/Silver hair. 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
thank you Sheila 💕
I have just gone grey naturally and I have had so many people say they love my colour. I’m very lucky to have that steel grey look, which I know very one seems to want.
Keep going it’s worth it. It did help get through it when you have it cut. Love the coat.. x
thanks Chris, great to know you're enjoying your grey 🌷
Condolences, I, too lost my mom 2yrs ago, still fresh in my psyche. Be good to yourself, your Mum is just on the other side and you will notice the energy surrounding you. 💕
thank you Diane 🌷
Grief takes time to work through, good days and bad ones. Your coat is lovely. Looking forward to your tutorial on shower caps . 😘😘😘😘😘
thank you Dianne 😘
So sorry to hear about your loss- I lost my Mom in June 2018 and I know how hard it is to deal with the daily things and reminders as well as estate stuff that is necessary. I hope time eases things for you and you just have the good memories. Sending prayers and happy thoughts. What a beautiful dress you made! Thank you for sharing.
thank you so much Charlene 🌷
Condolences! It does get better with time. Lovely dress and coat. Thank you for sharing.
thank you 💕
I am so sorry to hear about your mom. You are such a beautiful person inside and out. I have been missing you as well. As a silver haired lady, I understand about growing it out. That is the hardest part, but then you are done. You can use the money you used to spend on hair color on fabric. I am definitely interested in making that coat. Beautiful!
aww, thank you so much Sarah 💕
Well done joining the he silver sister group! I gave up when I hit 60. , as the dye burnt my scalp, it so suited my skin colour and all the money you save can buy fabric!
I like your thinking Janice :-) x
So sorry for your loss, Cheryl. Love and light to you and your family. 💗
thanks Pinky 💕😘
So sorry to hear about your mum. I am also growing out my grey. I'm 8 months in and so glad! Follow as many inspiring people as you can, there will be days when you think you're crazy. Looking at pictures and reading stories of others who have been through it really helps.
thank you 💕 Yay for another silver sister. Good tip, thanks you. Some days I wobble, but I'm so inspired by others it keeps me going.
So sorry about your Mum. I lost my mum 5 years ago so I know what you are going through. What a wonderful idea to make a beautiful dress to celebrate her life. I am sending you a virtual hug ;-). Take Care. Gabriellex
thank you so much Gabrielle 🌷 Sorry for your loss too.x
Nice to see you again Cheryl So Sorry for your loss xx
thanks Di 💕
I decided to go grey too. Even the classy French ladies are embracing going grey.
So sorry to hear about your mum. From my own experience the worst bit is over, you just have to hold in to all those great memories.
Love the Sapporo coat and the Eve dress.
X😍
thank you so much 💕
Gosh Cheryl I did wonder where you were. I’m so sorry to hear about your mum. I went through a similar thing 18 months ago with my mum so I know exactly how you’re feeling. It gets easier to live with as time goes by. Love the coat. Gorgeous. Xx
thank you Elaine, so sorry for your loss too 💕
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My Father died 20 years ago, and not a day goes by that I don't miss him and think of him. My Mother died 7 years ago, and the same with her-always in my thoughts and I miss hearing their laughter and their sage advice.
May God guide you through this most difficult time in your life. I'd like to say it gets easier-and in some ways, I guess it does, but there will always be a hole in your heart and life-that no one else can fill.
thank you so much Diane. I'm sorry for your loss too. You're right, they never leave our thoughts. I felt the same when my Nan died 12 years ago, I was very close to her and not a day goes by when I don't think of her.x
Sending you love and condolences on the loss of your Mum. Remember to take care of yourself at this sad time xx
I decided to leave my hair go grey about a year ago and I get lots of compliments on it. I still get a shock when I look in the mirror but I really don't want to dye my hair again.
I absolutely love your dress and your coat - thank you for sharing.
thanks Andrea 💕 Well done on your transition too, I think grey looks fabulous - and goes with everything.
Totally understandable. I believe we lost my husband's grandmother the same time and thank you for your condolences you shared. The dress is BEAUTIFUL. You know I love your curls and your hair will grow out beautifully im sure😊. Love the coat and the lining just sets it off.
thank you Nateida, hope you and your family are doing ok after your sad time 💕💕💕
So sorry for your loss Cheryl. Sending big hugs x
thanks Amanda 💕

So very sorry to hear your sad news Cheryl I wish you well.I had missed seeing you on here and it is good to see you back. I think you are very brave embracing your grey hair, I am much olde r than you and I put up with fortnightly roots touch ups. I will watch your journey with interest.Wishing you all the very best and thank you for your channel.x

I am so sorry for your loss - I’m keeping you in my prayers xoxo
❤️I love your coat . So sorry to hear about your mum xx
thank you Lisa 💕
So sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my Mum, 4 years ago, and she showed me how to craft and sew. I am so appreciative of her skills, and how she taught me style and substance. Crafting and sewing give me great pleasure, and also give me some sanity in this mixed up world as a creative release, and they also give me fond memories. Fun coat. Best wishes during this time.
currylover0 thank you so much. Sorry for your loss too, what a lovely Mum yours sounded 💖 Mine bought be my first sewing machine and ran her own business too, so inspiring. X
Really sorry to hear your sad news. Coincidentally my mum died at the end of 2019 and I wore a jersey dress I made from some poppy fabric mum had admired, just seemed the right thing to do. I thought your dress was just beautiful and I hope you enjoy wearing it. Thinking of you and wishing you the very best x
thank you Jenny. I'm so sorry for your loss, thinking of you.x
I’m very sorry for the loss of your Mum, Cheryl. You’re so loved. x
thank you so much 💕
My thoughts go with you. So sorry for your sad loss, and I trust you are able to cherish happy memories she gave you in younger days.
Sadly my son took his own life on Feb 24th so heart ache all around, and so I understand what you mean about organising funerals etc, when it's the last thing you want to do. And the exhaustion of sadness and grief.
I love your sewing Chanel, and thank you for the information and motivation you've given me in the past. I'm sure your mum was proud of your success, and I hope you continue to be able to enjoy what you do with your business and media. Xx
Btw, I also decided to go grey with attitude, once you get over the initial change process it's pretty cool. Xxx
thank you Sonia 💕My Mum was a wonderful lady, so supportive, proud, inspiring and very funny too. I miss talking to her every day.
I'm so so sorry to hear of your loss. The loss of a child no matter how old is completely heart-breaking. Sending you much love and kindness at this awful time.xxx
Stitchy Bee Mums are special people, and she sounds great xxxxxxxx my thoughts are with you. Xxxx
My sincerest condolences on the passing of your Beloved Mum Cheryl. It is lovely to see you again here on RUclips, and I do love the coat you have made so much I am thinking of making it myself! I, too, stopped dyeing my hair when the "silver" hair came through, the dye is not good for us (studies have found that is does affect you health wise and sediments of hair dye has been found in the liver....), and not good for our environment, plus you are a 'slave' for dyeing your hair all the time, and the cost (financially and time wise). I look forward to seeing your new fabrics too, please don't forget if you get the glow in the dark cat jersey in stock again, please let me know
Allison Smith thank you so much Allison 🌷 You’re right about the dye, it’s not good for us, and so frequently used too must make things worse.
I have the cat jersey on back order so as soon as it arrives, I’ll let you know 👍🏻
@@StitchyBee thank you, I am now following your Instagram account too, I also love your animal print jersey so when the cat fabric comes back into stock I will order both and save on postage (as I am in Australia)
Condolences Cheryl its a sad time. Welcome to the grey hair team I've been grey for a few years now and I love it.
Sorry to hear about your mother and all the sadness that entails. 😘😘Your dress and coat are lovely.
thanks Ruth 💕
Sorry to hear about your mum. It's a tough time for you. Thank for sharing your makes especially the dress as it has a lot of meaning to you. Theresa
thank you Theresa 💕
Hi Cheryl, Thank you for your video today, it's good to see you! I wanted to express again how very sorry I am for your loss and I'm glad to see that you're being kind to yourself during this difficult time. Take the time you need and no apologies for feeling sad. Lots of love
thank you so much Sarah 💕xx
Sorry for your loss, but you have nothing to apologize for! It's a process to go through and everyone needs to take the time that suits them!
thank you Cecile 💕

Barbara Wolcott thanks Barbara 💖
I am so sorry for your loss Cheryl .
💗* hugs* 💗
thank you so much Rahayu 💕
Well done Cheryl, sending you lots of love 💗 I just passed the first anniversary of my Dad's death, it is tough indeed. I made a dress for his funeral too, I imagined I would never be able to wear it again but actually as it can be dressed up or down it has become a bit of a special wardrobe staple. Yours is lovely. Looking forward to following your graceful greying journey, and as a fellow curly girl I'm really looking forward to the shower caps! 💗
thank you Nancy. I'm so sorry for your loss too, I don't believe it gets any easier, it'll still be raw for you too. I still pine for my Nan who passed away 12 years ago.x

Lovely to see you back Cheryl but was so sorry to hear the reason why you hadn't been around. Deepest condolences on the loss of your mum. You take care of yourself. Really lovely makes by the way.
