I've been storing my fabric on the comic boards for about 7 years, and it is important to use acid-free paper/cardboard, because regular cardboard can yellow or stain fabric over time. The comic book collectors use it for the same reason. I love your videos!

Hi Cheryl, great video. I reorganized my closet using the comic book inserts it really freed up my space. For fat quarters I cut the comic boards in half and wrapped it around that. Love your dress!

Hi Cheryl, Your cupboard is lovely. I have my fabrics folded in a similar way but I store them in a chest of drawers so I don't need the cardboard to stiffen them. I use my widest acrylic ruler to wrap them and then pin on a note with the width and length and always prewash them before they go into the drawer. Thanks for another great video! I'd love it if you could do printers in the US. I've not tried any and would love to stop sticking.

Really helpful video Cheryl. I like your way of folding the fabric on to card and liked it when you sent it like that. I’m going to look into it as have mine folded into boxes in a Kallax unit. It isn’t the neatest!
I’ve used@ netprinter for quite a few patterns, about £3.00 a pattern. It is so good as would never stick them. I struggle to trace them even😆

Ruth Lanwarne thanks Ruth 💐🐝 Ha ha, yes, tracing is a bit tedious, I’d rather print out twice, ha ha.

I really love how you store your fabric! Brilliant. I have mine on shelves (in different parts of my apartment) and I started off with good intentions with clear plastic bins labelled but then the stash just kept coming in exceeding the bins and now there is fabric stacked on top of the bins. It's a veritable organized mess but my biggest complaint is that I can't see them all! That's what I love about your methodology - seeing it all makes it so much easier. I've used a copy place in the UK (Itch to Stitch has an arrangement with them and her patterns which streamlined the whole process). They were great! Fair priced and sent me my patterns (to Canada!) really fast. They are called "patternsy" - and this is the confirmation they sent me once I'd placed my order,
    Dear Kathleen J
    Thank you for your order.
Patternsy is Su & Mark and we are here to help so, if you have a question, just ask by replying to this email, using the contact form on the web page or by phone/text to either +44 7968 125075 (iPhone) or +1 323 380 8835 (Google Voice).
We will first check the files you have uploaded. Remember that we can only work with Wide/A0/Copy Shop format files, not files in A4/Letter format.
Next will send you an invoice for your order and once the invoice is paid, your patterns will go into the print queue.
If you submit more than one pattern, they are printed in alphabetical order so when you receive a stack of crisp, new patterns you know that Sheet 1, 2, 3 etc are in pattern name order.
    Best Wishes
    Mark & Su

Cheryl, thanks for sharing tips for fabric storage. I use an antique chest of drawers for storage, however I like your idea of using card. I may try it so I'll be able to store fabric in the drawers vertically for better visibility. It would be lovely if you are able to find some reasonably priced companies in the US for printing pdf patterns. Your necklace is beautiful-is it Amazonite?

Laura Jones hi Laura, thank you 💐 An antique chest sounds lovely for storing fabric 👍🏻
Not sure what my necklace is made of as it was a gift, but possibly moonstone. 🌷

Hi Cheryl. Great video! Looking forward to your next video. I used netprinter for the first time this week and found them really great! Lovely quality of paper too and quick shipping. The postage rates to Ireland are expensive so I used my Parcel Motel which is basically a UK PO box that then gets shipped to the republic for a small fee, so overall I feel it’s totally worth it. I could just buy the paper patterns but I’d be stung on shipping and plus I like having a backup file and more and more designers are going PDF only. I used to print and stick.... but really life is too short 🤣

Hi - thanks for sharing your tips - I use PDF patterns too and sometimes print at home and tape them together, but only if the pattern pieces are relatively small and I can line them up accurately - for larger or more complicated patterns I have used net printer.co.uk for size A0 and would highly recommend them. It is very easy to upload your files to their sight, the cost is very reasonable, and delivery is fast.

Mary Gellatly thanks Mary, great tip. Yes, I agree, the bigger patterns tend to line up less. 👍🏻💐

Thanks for such a useful video - I love the way your fabric arrives and am endeavouring to tidy up my sewing space. What do you do with your scraps? I have a basket for anything fat quarter sized or larger that I think I can use again but I hate how disorganised it is!

Katrina Harborne thank you so much Katrina 🌷 I try not to keep too many scraps - I donate them to our local Scrap Store👍🏻 but for larger scraps, I fold them and make a neat pile on the shelf.

Hi Cheryl, great video as always. You won't believe it, but I've been on the Ikea website all week adding the box cube storage units to my basket as well as the bookcase you have. I've not been able to decide what to get as I'm giving my sewing room a total rehaul, so this video is very timely for me. Can I ask where you got the table you folded your fabric on and what size it is? I'm currently looking at two of the same tables from Ikea and pushing them together to get a good size. Thanks sharing how you do stuff, really helpful xx

Agnes D yayy, thanks Agnes. Ikea is so addictive isn’t it? My tables are from Ikea too 👍🏻 I think they are the 125cm ones pushed together. You can get smaller and bigger ones too. Easy to set up too, just buy the tops, 4 legs for each snd screw them on. Good luck in setting up your space 💐

nightmarebugs thank you 💐 With velvet I would hang it on a clothes hanger with a towel underneath to prevent a line forming, and move it every so often so creases don’t set in 👍🏻

Thanks for sharing your fabric storage process. I use the comic book boards as well. They work for the shelves I have. In the US www.pdfplotting.com is a great place for pattern printing. They ship same or next day - I always have mine within 2 days. They ship patterns in a roll in a nice cardboard “triangle” box. Their customer service is excellent when you have a question and the web site is very easy to use. They do have a minimum order ($7 I think) and charge shipping - but I still feel like it’s great value if you use a lot of PDFs.

You are all welcome! I feel like I need a disclaimer here... I’m not being paid for this advertising - I’m just so happy with their service! Also, I found them through Nateida on the Natural Dane You Tube channel. She very kindly gave me the info that changed my PDF pattern life!! I no longer hesitate to get a pdf. I MAY have just bought another pdf yesterday... Another tip: I have a folder on my computer desktop called “patterns to print” and when I buy a pdf I put the appropriate pattern file(s) in that folder so they are waiting there when I’m ready to place an order!
