- Join me as I take my 500,000 mile 2003 Cadillac Escalade down to @AutoAuctionRebuilds for a Caddy Comparison. Randy's Escalade has 200,000 miles and mine has almost 500,000!
We'll compare rides, let you know what accessories work and don't work, conduct brake tests, and finally... almost completely destroy my Escalade.

Mike, please don't give up on the Escalade. It is a complete, running and (badly) driving vehicle. With the rising cost of used vehicles, it is worth fixing. It will also make for more content.

If I’m not mistaken the mileage stays in the cluster…so swapping a used cluster into the Escalade will display its mileage not the mileage from the vehicle. I think if you have the right type of scanner you can pull the actual recorded mileage.
I think it's really funny that some people are worried about the head liner!! ... Might just be me, but the fact that other bits are smoking, clunking, scraping, jerking and pulling might be a little higher up on the precedence scale. The old girl must love you though, she got you home safe and sound.

That Escalade would be fairly cheap and inexpensive to sort out ! Thankfully because it’s a early 2000s GM product ! Don’t give up on it Mike !
Mike, most likely you have a clogged cat. It will get so bad you won't be able to go 30 mph. Those old engines like yours with 500k will burn alot of oil and cog the cat up. Cut off the catalytic converter and it will run great.
You can fix it Mike, that's why we watch your not a quitter , keep going its great content for your channel
Mike you son of a gun! Nobody else would have made the trip back. I was curious if you needed to top up the transfluid or bang the brake shoe back into place. Btw. this is my third attempt to make a post after YT deleted the old ones because I joked about certain substances...
You need to at least keep it long enough to get it to a legitimate half a million miles!

I don’t know if you thought about this, but on some cars the little spring brake pad clips are different for the inside and outside pads, if you get them reverse one will scrape on the rotor and can cause a noise like you are hearing. My GMC Canyon is like that.

It goes into LipModE. Your main wiring harness runs under drivers side fender. Having aftermarket rims sometimes rips the splash guard and that harness is right under it, not saying it's ur problem, but something you can check out. I had a 02 similar issues

I think you can clean your headliner with steam and green soap. Then glue back the edges.

I don't know lack of performance like that. Usually points to catalytic converter clogging up the temperatures of those rotors is not out of line. That is fine. I started to simple stuff like throttle, body cleaning, map sensor, cleaning, and by checking the temperature of a pipe before the catalytic converter, comparing it to the pipe after the converter sometimes will give you a little indication of it being clogged
Famous last words before getting pulled over : I may have forgotten to remove the drugs
I immediately thought when you were on your way to Randy’s and you said the wheels was squealing that you had a caliper sticking, but with both rear rotors being hot I bet the parking brake is sticking, that’s why o never use them on older automatic cars, they just don’t get used enough and they seize up
Two 20 year old GM SUV's with a combined total of 3/4 of a million miles for under $2K and all four of you made it through the entire video Alive .... I'd call that a success in my book 😁🤷♂️
You need to try removing the throttle body and cleaning it
Check and verify TPS proper functionality, check accelerator pedal functionality, replace either if malfunctioning, replace 02 sensors and check fuel pressure key on engine off and time to bleed down. Any could cause loss of power. Also there are parking brake pads separate from brake pads. They are a drum system. Check if they are intact or need replacing. With the mileage I wouldn't doubt they are worn to the backing plate. Front caliper check brake pads clip for proper alignment. Sometimes they get to close to rotor on install and need to be moved away from rotor slightly. Can see it touching rotor if looking down front of rotor between it and caliper if it's scraping. Great stuff btw! Yall are hilarious when you get around each other. Keep on keepin on man! Hope it helps. 🤘

Dump the Escalade! It’s just to warn out in so many of it’s systems that you’ll have to spend thousands to get it into shape as a reliable vehicle. You may be upside down in it already. I’m sure you could make it a reliable car, but at what cost?
Your skills are not the question, what you did with that 7 series Beemer is a testament to your abilities. I believe Randy and most of your viewers thought the highest and best use of it to be it’s value in scrap but you made a respectable car out of it. It may be one of your most impressive accomplishments!
BTW, I never miss any of your videos even the Escalade series. Your video are amongst the very best on RUclips and, as an aside, are very, very helpful with my depression issues. For this I thank you!

Mike , I would keep the Escalade because it's a runner, it may have high miles and have some issues but are you going to find one that's better for less money after already putting in the cash you have and all your time?
Personally I would keep it as a toe rig and a driver but I would slowly start updating the parts like the front end tie rods inner joints and such see how it rides then if it's still real sloppy like that replace anything else it can be replaced including the rack.
I mean you came this far with it why get rid of it and stop now You got so much time and money invested in it plus it seems to get good views it'd be interesting to see if you kept going with it as long as it runs and shifts well everything else can be fixed easy
Ahhh the good old GM dura trac failure you chewed the spider gears into powder out it in 4x4 and run it as a front wheel drive been there done that Many many times

Saw a post online where someone had a similar issue and his turned out to be faulty and/or rusted wheel speed sensors telling the traction control that the wheels were turning at different speeds.

Great video!! Laughed pretty hard haha. My guess is a speed sensor causing traction control to come on, making the rear brakes lock up on you. Pesky traction control… or stabilitrac either one

Wow looks like more work on the escalade
Its a speed sensor issue. When you see traction active the vehicle thinks a wheel is slipping and will cut engine power.

Mike, You need to completely redo the rear brakes including the parking brake. Be sure it all properly bleed and adjusted including the parking brake release cable. You should check the rear axle oil level. And you should check all the steering components for play and replace as needed. The noise from the left front brake could be just the rotor hitting the backing plate.You need to balance the tires .. safety first. As to the loss of power, there is a pedal position sensor in the cab under the gas pedal. If it goes bad then the computer does not know how much acceleration you want. You could also have internal transmission issues and you should adjust how the Gear Indicator shows the proper gear selected. Maybe change the transmission fluid and filter as well. And tell Randy he has a burnt out bulb on the drivers side headlight on his red Escalade

Common issue for the wheel speed sensors to fail. There are 3. One on each front wheel in the hub, and one for the rear...I forget where. You may have to replace the front hubs to replace the front wheel speed sensors, as trying to remove the wheel speed sensor can be harder than the hub if there's rust holding the sensor in.

Mike, the Escalde series has taught me the value of buyer beware.
Pluged or failing EGR valve sets off Trac light sometimes. Throttle position sensors can also fail in such a way and of course the good ole MAP sensor loves to act crazy on GM V8 rides like those. Computer scan may give leads.
Awesome video, Mike. With the Escalade getting you back home in one piece, I’d say she deserves another chance. I’d definitely get some stock wheels.
I had a 2004 Escalade identical to yours besides the sunroof and cool rims on yours. Sold it and man I miss her.

On those clusters the mileage is stored on a memory chip (EPROM). So, the milage on Randy's car is from the donor vehicle.

Turn off the traction control and it won't bog down. You have a bad wheel sensor in the front or the magnet is worn away and you need a set of hubs. I've been driving mine with T/C off for a year and no issues. The minute you turn it back on, it will bog down with the "Traction Control Activated" error. GM at its finest...
I think the stabilitrak is haunting your Escalade in addition to a possibly plugged exhaust,
