Mike, your sheer tenacity got you through the brake system. It’s extremely difficult to troubleshoot someone else’s hack repair work, as I mentioned previously regarding that capped brake line. Congratulations, most people won’t have been looking for a “We buy cars” ad somewhere! Change the fluids, get the exhaust welded and get that sensor connected then take her for a road test. Be sure to bring your aaa card or Randy’s phone #, lol. Then clean her up and sell her! You don’t really want to be towing with a beater with 500,000 miles on it, do yo? Peace my friend, DrRick
Mike now that you have the scanner the possible to check the other modules in the Escalade to see if the mileage is accurate a lot of times people change the instrument cluster from the junkyard just considering that your displays not working on the cluster properly that's vintage of GM and Chevy are known problems with the stepper Motors and bad solder joints in the instrument cluster I know I just fixed mine
The Escalade can tow and probably be cheaper to maintain than the ML even with the miles on it. Amazon seller Priprilod has both perforated leather seat skins for $99. Or US Auto Seat Cover has the pair for about $200. Maybe one or the other company can sponsor the video if you reach out for the covers. Car probably needs a good clean up. Not sure if you have ever tried woolight and hot water. Works really well on car interiors for cleaning and stain removal. Edit: I think its enduring to see such a monumental project like this. Once sorted out you probably will have a solid SUV. You have had a fair amount of ML's come and go for one reason or another. The list is long and this SUV is a time sink but that is about it. Parts are cheap and it really does not look too bad. You probably can even get a windshield from a junk yard or someone with a parts car.
The clunk that you hear it could be the drive axles change the fluids and do a clean up video im happy that you are working on the escalate i learn something new every day
Might as well Change all the fluids. You can get new set skins for the truck. Been checking on them for my Avalanche. Waiting for you to clean the truck up and serviced.
Bro that was epic you did it ran an drove , dude you gotta keep both use the ml55 as your daily ..the Escalade to tow ..easy peezy ..the fact that the Escalade is till firing straight up no issue shows that it deserves to be saved and praised 🎉and the black diamond rims are perfect on it do the O2 sensor ..and do the longer drive vid and tire golden ..keep up the good entertainment
The ABS pump activating on low speed stops on that generation GM truck is common. The most common cause is corrosion under the wheel speed sensors on the front wheels. You can remove them and sand or grind down the mounting surface on the wheel hub and reinstall. The corrosion pushes the sensor up and too far away from the indexed wheel in the hub to consistantly detect the rotation of the wheel. If that doesn't solve the issue it could be the ABS module.
Great job Mike ! I knew you could fix it. Aww Lola looks so cute riding with you. The Duckies look good too. Aww Lola so cute. Fluids Mike. Thanks to the gentleman who sent you the shocks. ☺️☺️
I am intrested in both, the fluid changes as well as the cleaning. I would keep the ML and the escalade ...for now, you may have more problems down the road with 500,000 miles you have to feel that there's a bad moon rising sooner or later.
Check the front wheel bearings Mike. Could be why you’re getting an abs stop. It’s common when there’s play. The sensor confuses the dip in the wheel speed as wheel lockup.
Hey Mike... My opinion is keep the Caddy an sell the Benz...you will get more money selling the Benz an the Caddy is better for towing.... You can always upgrade to a better tow vehicle down the road....
Service the mechanicals before you clean inside. If you can keep both, i would. The Escalade wouldn't be used everyday as it would be your tow rig and update it later on. The Escalade is hugely popular and everyone enjoys seeing cars that people would junk, bought back. You only have to see how popular those videos are. Great content Mike
I'd spray the engine/frame area down with degreaser and power wash it. All that gunk may be hiding something. Plus, it will help keep you clean when you're working on it.
Well if you are going all in on this you definitely need to replace that fuel filter. It looks factory and since it has almost 500,000 miles it needs a fuel filter for sure and look into some fuel injectors as well. Also that rattle is the knuckle and the joint in the steering column. Over time it comes loose and rattles. Only way you can fix it is to replace it or grease it. Though greasing it is a temporary fix.
Nice work! If you want to clean up the inside, there are many places to find seat covers, or new OE covers. Maybe see what the Auto Spa can do, and go from there. This is a sweet ride.
I would do the fluid changes before cleaning in case there were accidental spills or leaks that needed to be cleaned up. You might see if you can get the 02 sensor fixed as well as the cat welded before cleaning. I would also pressure wash at least the undercarriage and the engine bay "carefully".
Sounds like you are committed to keeping your Cadillac for at least a couple of more videos. You might want to check the wheel speed sensors as that might be partly why the ABS is trying to trigger early.
Mike I really liked the images with the camera from the back of the truck, you and Lola looked very funny around the neighborhood. Please sell the Escalade as soon as you can. Blessings.
Nice job! I’m loving these videos on the Escalade. I say you keep fixing up the little things on the Escalade and drive it around. If it works well then keep it. Escalade will be a much better tow rig.
It couldn’t hurt to do the fluids and fix the exhaust leak. I think it would make a great tow vehicle for you. Pressure wash the undercarriage and I bet it will clean up nice
I am very impressed how for you have gotten with it I’m thinking the cut line was a temporary fix to get brakes on a bad like so they cut ends and clogged bleeders always are a pain I like the brakes are working good work on this truck thanks for the video I mean yes you can tow with this but drop the transmission fluid and change it then you can looks for any shavings from inside the transmission looking forward to see what’s next hello toe Lola an the ducks have a good day and great week 😊
Great job fixing the brakes on the Escalade . That takes patience . Brake and exhaust work is probably two of my least favorite to work on. I wouldn't call that Escalade a hot mess , it's proved itself I think you can get another 500,000 on that , I have a hot mess parked outside . 2000 s80 t6 with too many issues to mention and pockets not that deep to fix everything . it won't see 200,000 miles . Keep up the great content Mike.
Nice progress! Since I saw the Sheepadoodle in 'secret live of pets' on Nedfliks (if I write this correct my post will get deleted by YT) I see the role of Lola with much higher appreciation, she keep you sane while working on all the GMs and MBs 😁😁
You can clear those bleeder screws with a small drill bit. Down the bore first, then from the side. You could have also bought new bleeder screws for cheap. Keep plugging away, we'll keep watching and cheering you on.
I would say sell the ML and keep the Escalade as a tow rig. Even with all of its miles and issues I feel like its much better suited to be a tow vehicle.
Hi, Mike. The ML 55 AMG can tow easily 7,000 pounds. The rating is too low in the USA. I have two W163, ML500 and ML320. I bought the he V6 ML320 (4,400 lbs) in Dallas 3 years ago and towed by myself to Oklahoma City using the ML500 with a U-Haul auto transport (2,200 lbs) with no problems. Plenty of power and did around 13 miles/gal. I think you had a white ML500 when I started watching your channel...I wouldn´t use it for constant towing but for an isolated car you know they will do the work. This Escalade is tarting to look much better. Best regards!
Your mechanical diagnostic skills are really impressive Mike! I’ve not known many guys called Gilbert but those that I have, have been fantastic individuals and now I know of another 👍🏻🏴
Keep the Escalade fix the few gremlins it has redo on the suspension for a nice ride, change the fluid and fix up the interior, and it will be a good toe rig for years to come.
The front wheel bearings go bad all the time in the 02-06 escalates which causes the abs sensors to not read correctly and make the abs kick in when coming to a stop
I want to see this escalade get fixed up to by your temp towing vehicle! my suggestion as it pains my heart is to sell the mercedes amg suv pocket like 2/3 of the money you get from that and use 1/3 of the money to get the much needed parts that the escalade needs.
Hey Mike just a thought are you able to check the other modules to see if the mileage is accurate on your cluster that vintage of GMC Chevy we're known for bad stepper Motors and weak solder joints which would explain your display not working properly . a lot of times people just change the cluster with a with a replacement junkyard unit thinking they can fix the problem
Use code MWMIKE50 to get 50% off your first Factor box at bit.ly/44LDOyH
I've had a few issues with Rockauto as well. Love the service and price but they need to work on matching parts with cars.
The wheelbase on the Escalade is going to make for a much better/safer towing experience.
That truck really put you through the ringer 😂. Hair came out looking like Marv from home alone !
You serviced the whole undercarriage. Once you fixed the exhaust and fluids its ready for years of service.
Please please go with Randy and drive his rusted out ford to and from Oklahoma!!
Dang Mike, that ad makes you sound like a TV professional! 😂 Great job!
Good job on fixing the Escalade

Awwwww Lola is so happy, she loves going for rides ❤

Keep the Escalade it looks like the better vehicle for Towing and other things
Really clean microwave Mike 🎉
Keep the Escalade. Really enjoying this video series. It deserves to be fixed up and put back on the road. Plenty More life in her yet!

You gotta keep the Escalade, I’d check the fluids before bothering to clean anything.
Do the cleaning next. This way when you look at it it will make you feel better and want to keep working on it.
Mike I admire your perseverance on the Caddy, not for me, I vote keep the ML. More importantly we need to talk about the 7 series 🧐🧐🧐
Had no idea you were the body double for Red Skelton's wino character.
Haha!!!
Cleaning video Mike. I think get the Cadillac cleaned up, mechanical sound and sell it. Keep the Merc for sure.
Nice job on getting the Escalade running right and breaking too. Keep up the great work.
Mike - Cleaning video next; would be interesting to see how well she’ll cleanup. 😊
It’s like watching an old karate movie. Your voice isn’t insink with your lips. Lol!
I have to be honest I don’t even like that Cadillac but with half a million miles she deserves to live again Mike!
Cheers Pat 🇦🇺
what the duck man? Da animals outta control...But the Escalade is back in da house...!
It is all good just take your time and do not worry about what people say. Mike is working on it and will get it done.👍
Hope your trip went well Mike. Glad to see you back in action working on these projects my man!
Great job Mike ! I knew you could fix it. Aww Lola looks so cute riding with you. The Duckies look good too. Aww Lola so cute. Fluids Mike. Thanks to the gentleman who sent you the shocks. ☺️☺️

Mike love your videos. I love how fast you work under the hood. Huggs ❤❤
Hey Mike...
My opinion is keep the Caddy an sell the Benz...you will get more money selling the Benz an the Caddy is better for towing....
You can always upgrade to a better tow vehicle down the road....
I feel that changing fluids will also tell you a lot about the vehicle history and conditions
I’d luv to see you or Randy find a Dodge Neon SRT4 my favourite car of all time. Keep up the great content brotha God Bless from 🇨🇦✌️
Love to see the fluid changes & cleaning of the Escalade. Keep it if you wish. 🤷♂️ Good Luck On Your Choice !!
I think you need to clean the abs sensor in each tire
I'd spray the engine/frame area down with degreaser and power wash it. All that gunk may be hiding something. Plus, it will help keep you clean when you're working on it.

Keep it Mike, you have done a fantastic job on it, love watching you fix it, it will come up beautiful
I do hope that all that work you're doing on the Cadillac fixes the brakes.😊👍
That rattling in the steering wheel is the steering shaft bearing. Pretty cheap and somewhat easy to replace
Nice work! If you want to clean up the inside, there are many places to find seat covers, or new OE covers. Maybe see what the Auto Spa can do, and go from there. This is a sweet ride.
Lola sure stuck her nose in there to inspect the brakes.that was something
I definitely want to see more work on Escalade. Get the exhaust fixed 1st then clean it up.
Escalade for sure, extremely enjoyable content with phenomenal miles wow 🤩
& people will agree
I would do the fluid changes before cleaning in case there were accidental spills or leaks that needed to be cleaned up. You might see if you can get the 02 sensor fixed as well as the cat welded before cleaning. I would also pressure wash at least the undercarriage and the engine bay "carefully".
Great job Mike love it and your dog ❤
Sounds like you are committed to keeping your Cadillac for at least a couple of more videos. You might want to check the wheel speed sensors as that might be partly why the ABS is trying to trigger early.
Take it to a Cadillac dealer for an inspection, the video of their resoonse would be epic.
Lola sitting up there like a person lol.
It couldn’t hurt to do the fluids and fix the exhaust leak. I think it would make a great tow vehicle for you. Pressure wash the undercarriage and I bet it will clean up nice

Hey Mike Do the Timing chain due to the millage on her. That truck will last you forever.Sounds great and it's clean too
28:28 Q - When is a door not a door?
A - When it's a jar.
The cleaning video! Lets see how good you can make it look.
Nice progress! Since I saw the Sheepadoodle in 'secret live of pets' on Nedfliks (if I write this correct my post will get deleted by YT) I see the role of Lola with much higher appreciation, she keep you sane while working on all the GMs and MBs 😁😁
Great job Mike!!
Use scanner to read wheel speed signals. Make sure they all read the same. Usually front hub bearings.
You can clear those bleeder screws with a small drill bit. Down the bore first, then from the side. You could have also bought new bleeder screws for cheap. Keep plugging away, we'll keep watching and cheering you on.
More Escalade Repairs - headliner and front seats and Road trips. Just for the joy on your face LOL
Mike you are a trooper. I'd have already called Pedal for a pick-up.
Lola looks like she's having a blast
That scattered hair while working under the descalade (😅😅😅😅) made you look like monkey wrench mikeinstein (😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄)
Haha!!
Which one can you run 87 octaine? Great content Mike!
I would say sell the ML and keep the Escalade as a tow rig. Even with all of its miles and issues I feel like its much better suited to be a tow vehicle.
I saw the now MW Mike classics of you bringing it home = " Brakegate " and Randy's test drive after the RF brake fix. LOL

Awesome work done on this one Mike! Keep going change the fliud clean it up & sell it for hopefully a little profit
Your mechanical diagnostic skills are really impressive Mike! I’ve not known many guys called Gilbert but those that I have, have been fantastic individuals and now I know of another 👍🏻🏴
Woohoo I’m so excited to see the final story on this ol girl.
Lola and the ducks need their own video!
Mike's worried about F bombs AFTER he told us his Escalade has 4 nuts. LOL 😆 🤣
When mama duck has a headache, what's a daddy duck to do??? Go after the dog!!!!
That factor stuff looks good Mike 😎😎👍👍
Delicious!!
Great save! Cant wait to see you tow with it. With the effort you put in, it wont be long. 👌
By the looks of you after this escalade Video you put on 10 years to your life LOL!!! Great video Mike!!
Good morning sir. Good to see you again Mike. Glad your doing good.😊👍
my two cents are to do the fluids first then cleaming
You did more mechanical work in this video than Randy had done in his last 25 episodes! 😅
I don’t know about that… lol
@@MonkeyWrenchMike 😂
Miss Lola's looking around as she says "Where the hell is the Holy Shit were gonna die HANDLE!!!!"
There was same time that you think of what the hell I am doing all with this SUV 😂😂. But you did it Mike
Keep the Escalade fix the few gremlins it has redo on the suspension for a nice ride, change the fluid and fix up the interior, and it will be a good toe rig for years to come.
Cleaning process a clean vehicle makes it drive better
Mike i personally would like to see the car cleaned, servised and absoloutely i want to see the fluids!
I like the vids on the Escalade but it definitely needs a hot steam wash underneath 😅
Keep it mike 😎😎👍👍Great content for your channel
The front wheel bearings go bad all the time in the 02-06 escalates which causes the abs sensors to not read correctly and make the abs kick in when coming to a stop
I conquer
Front wheel bearings will cause abs to kick on
Mike! In your frazzled state you look like Soupy Sale's double!!!
After you get done it will make a great work truck.
I want to see this escalade get fixed up to by your temp towing vehicle! my suggestion as it pains my heart is to sell the mercedes amg suv pocket like 2/3 of the money you get from that and use 1/3 of the money to get the much needed parts that the escalade needs.

Mike get the muffler welded it might be some of your problems and definitely would quiet it down . Keep up the good work !
