I think you should save it, that car deserves to be your towing vehicle. I don't know the towing capabilities of this Caddy, but I think it'll be enough for you. Keep up the great content!
Mike I think it's a keeper would love to keep seeing it. It'll be a lot of work but I don't think the parts you are looking at will cost you much. That seems to be a base model so you don't have to worry about fancy electronics things.
It is definitely worth your time that is one of the most reliable vehicles you could possibly have and again the fact that it made it that far and it's still running and driving good proves that
Just a thought Mike take the pinstriping off it takes the vehicle it look better without the pinstriping and if the engine is running well for the few times you will be towing it'll serve your needs
mike i'm really enjoying this rehab. the milage is mind blowing. yes i think its worth the parts and time . its not terrible just extremely dirty . that head liner and seats are just awful. im sure there is lots of parts available in the old pick apart yards. let us know how many viewers your getting on this one? cheers my friend. Lola looks great with hair cut im sure she is much cooler.
Mike, the Caddy looks to have three stage paint and the fender you got is a regular two stage white. See if a junk yard has a fender with pearl white - may be a much better paint match. Definitely put the work into it. It's a "diamonmd" in the fuff! lol. With replacement seats and headliner, you'll have a nice tow rig that will last you a while.
I'm in the dealer auction business, never seen a Escalade over 300k miles, but we did have a charity donation run and drive 2004 c-class Mercedes with 900k on it a couple years ago. That's the rarest junkyard unicorn I've come across.
I think that if in total you are spending less than $3K for a good running Cadi.. you are lucky. I would take it right away. I do only 4,000 miles/year.. this would be amazing. Enjoy it.. maybe you go from Benz to a Cadi lover.. nothing wrong with that. The interior needs attention, I agree. But it's still a very nice truck. She deserves an extended life.
It's actually in pretty nice shape for that many miles. Go get some more suspension parts and bushings from the junkyard, and it will slowly be revived, you might even be able to access a new headliner too! I almost forgot about those seats, you could probably find a couple of those also!
I really do like this escalade i think some new seats from the junkyard would make a huge difference a real good bit of TLC with parts from the junkyard i think you can turn this around for very little money because it isn't a bad looking vehicle loving the content can't wait for vids on the other purchases love to lola beema and benzo 26:35
Have you checked to see if the VIN on the engine matches the VIN on the rest of the truck. Maybe the engine was rebuilt or switch out and there is less miles on the engine. Good luck.
Love the Escalade Mike!! And love high mileage cars. They scare most people away, but with your skills, I bet you can keep it running for cheap! Definitely great content, but you gotta use the clickbait; “500,000 mile Escalade!!”
Mike, keep the Cadillac. It goes well with the Mercedes in your yard. This generation Escalade (2002-2006) and the one before it (1999-2000) are the only two generation that are reliable. Escalade became unreliable in 2007.
Check the low retail price, then work backward. Mileage is not going to increase the value no matter what you fix. Then assess the 'value to you' price. Lastly, add in your monetization value. Check on the price to have a mechanic do all the bushings, then guess how many hours it will cost you to do it all. Finally, make a checklist form of every car before any work is done so you can minimize time at the junkyard. The form will change over time, but each trip will be easier.
I like your idea, spend the 475 on it as a challenge. The 500 challenge! If you cam get it drive-able for 500 bucks , you have to keep it, if not it has to go. LOL Anyway, great video, Mike.
Mike, I am enjoying your content. Came over here from Randy's channel. I would fix that escalade all day long, especially if you enjoy tinkering with them as a hobby. I do the same myself. I rebuild old golf carts as a hobby. Parts are extremely cheap for that vehicle. I say go for it. It does look good except the inside 👍👍
the caddy deserves to be brought back to a serviceable state. everything it needs is doable on the cheap and just elbow grease. I really want to see you swap out the seats or reupholster them and clean up the grime. the suspension is not that expensive either.
Can’t kill those 5.3 6.0 or 8.1 liter engines all you have to do is keep up the maintenance on the engine etc. I’d keep it if it was me but I personally love the Burbs Yukons Escalades etc.
I'll say it again: this is worth saving. I'd be interested if you don't want it. You'll love driving it and towing with it, and you'll adore it once you get that interior fixed up.
One of the best chassis GM have ever built if not the best chassis they have built I have an '05 Escalade I'm the 2nd owner with 177,000 mi and it runs like a top. I may never get rid of it it's been very reliable. Mine seem to be rare I have the 6.0 two-wheel drive non- g80 open differential.
Mike thanks for the video and I think it is a good value for the channel and the money. Not so much invested. But stop at $2000. After that sell!. And redo again.
My Chevy HHR has 291000 miles and still going it's 2009 everything works also I think do a fluid change button it up test tow and if it works then there you go tow rig yes love it love it love it
Replace the rubber brake lines, they can cause caliper issues and well they are old🤣. But you knew that, just a reminder. Probably lots of parts from Suburban/Denali's too, cheap sourcing . Keep going Mike ! Hug Lola 🙂
The Escalade is looking good. It runs good and stops now. I kinda like the rims and wouldn’t spend much more $$ on cosmetics. Just tackle the interior. Clean it up and do something with the torn up seats.
Fix the exhaust it will make a very big difference esp on resale. There is a cleaner and colorant that will improve the seats. "Legit street cars" used it to great effect many episodes back. That steamer thing might work on the headliner. Those small arms with the ball joints may have had something to do with ride height. Brake proportioning maybe. 3 years ago "Legit Street Cars" had a vid "I Fixed Everything On A 15 year old Cadillac Escalade" Alex was a top Mercedes Tech for many years.
Mike, I would enjoy videos of you sourcing the parts from the junkyards to get the cars repaired. More content possibilities if they would let you record. Hope all is well, sir!! Keep the content coming on the Escalade .
That brake rotor was amazing in 2 ways 1 that you didn't see it first off I mean you even touched it 😅 and 2 the sheer determination of the previous owner to ignore the noise and keep going for a long long time. I have seen it before though.
I think you should fix it up to a safe point. Parts are everywhere and cheap for those Tahoe, suburban, caddy all the same truck. Those miles wouldn't really scare me on that motor. 6.0 no dod fuel management crap. She will be good to go for a while. Since the trans is rebuilt id say fix her up. Great content .
I would make it as nice and safe as possible on the budget, but I wouldn't sacrifice safety, and use it for towing. You can't sell that suv. Those 22s look good, don't worry about them. Do something with those center caps. If you plan on keeping it, I would replace all brake discs and pads, they can't be to expensive, specially if you plan on towing with it. That Deplhi devise is for headlight leveling, no? Keep that fender and, just repaint it with the front bumper together. Polish the headlights as well at Walmart(ask randy about it).
I have the same Escalade with the 6.0 engine I bought in 2020 for 1500 bucks. Rides like an old truck and needs some love but whenever I take her out she never fails to make me smile. Definitely revive this old gem. As long as the engine and trans are good then the rest shouldn’t take much. They don’t make them like they used to.
I think you should keep making inexpensive fixes. Keep going. HOWEVER, if you run into a HUGE problem, then abandon ship. I like to live with a car for while to learn what is REALLY wrong with itl. It may just be a lot of little fixes.
Mike keep the caddy it will serve you well give it a chance to prove it can do whatever you need it to do, and the fender heck who cares it has nearly 500,000 miles on the body and you only paid $1,200 for it.
The wheels were a factory option. This specific escalade may or may not be the white diamond edition because that was trim option for some gm trucks and suvs.
I think you should save it, that car deserves to be your towing vehicle. I don't know the towing capabilities of this Caddy, but I think it'll be enough for you. Keep up the great content!
They tow great
Big Al's bike and auto uses one to tow and it does fine
Mike I think it's a keeper would love to keep seeing it. It'll be a lot of work but I don't think the parts you are looking at will cost you much. That seems to be a base model so you don't have to worry about fancy electronics things.
After being washed, she looks great for her age and high mileage. She's definitely worth the $475👍
$475 👀 sheesh 🔥💯
It is definitely worth your time that is one of the most reliable vehicles you could possibly have and again the fact that it made it that far and it's still running and driving good proves that
I wouldn’t spend $4.00 on that thing!
@@parkerhulsey8219 good thing it's not yours😉
Keep the rotor!!! That is amazing wall art for the garage.
Mike is now truly an OG in this escalade 😎
Keep going on the Escalade! It’s a gem in the rough. 475k on the 6.0 is amazing
The old Cadillac Escalade looking kind of good after you clean it up then 6.0 vortec V8 are the truth nice 💯💯
You know it’s a keeper when he brings it out front of his house
Looking good that person you bought it from might buy it back when they see it .
Just a thought Mike take the pinstriping off it takes the vehicle it look better without the pinstriping and if the engine is running well for the few times you will be towing it'll serve your needs
Do not throw away the caliper that you removed,it is good. It was leaking because the piston had traveled past the seal.
mike i'm really enjoying this rehab. the milage is mind blowing. yes i think its worth the parts and time . its not terrible just extremely dirty . that head liner and seats are just awful. im sure there is lots of parts available in the old pick apart yards. let us know how many viewers your getting on this one? cheers my friend. Posted 2 days ago 30,400+ views I think that says it all, you should keep going. 👍
Yea restore it get use factory wheels and get used interior headliner etc would be a nice rebuild would love to watch that
Mike this would be an amazing transformation series. You don’t have much into it so I would go for it.
Mike, the Caddy looks to have three stage paint and the fender you got is a regular two stage white. See if a junk yard has a fender with pearl white - may be a much better paint match. old comment but, what engine/ model?
Like I said before you still have a great view from your backyard 👍
Love to see if you can bring this neglected old bus back to life; but get the Merc and BMW finished first please.
Love to Lola and the ducks.
I love that dog!! zoomies in middle of break test hahahaha
It’s almost always a O2 sensor when doing a diagnostic check on any used car
This classic SUV shape is timeless

Early 2000 Chevy pickups with the 5.3 I have seen over 400,000 miles on it seems like the ls engines run for ever with good maintenance
It's actually in pretty nice shape for that many miles. Go get some more suspension parts and bushings from the junkyard, and it will slowly be revived, you might even be able to access a new headliner too! I almost forgot about those seats, you could probably find a couple of those also!

I do love an Escalade it’s worth your time looks great clean

Now you fix the exhaust by straight piping it and making the neighbours happy! 😅
Yeah, right! LOL. 😂

I’d buy it tomorrow no problem

Get Randy to do the bushes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, depends on what you're asking for if you wantna get rid of it, you don't want it, I'd be interested in it
do not give up mike that is a very good engine it just needs love
The power wash really cleaned it up 😀🤘🏽🔥
The rotor that did not fit is for the Back. It had the parking brake hub.
Wow Mike kool caddy never seen anyone rebuild one bring her back
To life

And he could do a junkyard interior swap, especially the headliner. He did mention in the previous video that he knows where to source some seats.
Definitely keep the caddy they are great trucks
I think you should keep for a tow vehicle you deserve it am so proud of u mike good job
Now that it stops, now we just need steering and suspension tweaks.
As long as the motor and transmission are good I think that you can make some good content their!!!
Good morning Mike. Good to see you. I guess once you replace that then you should have brakes.😊👍
You're going to be stylin Mike.👍
Stock wheels would look so much better but no idea what thats worth in that condition. Very entertaining vid though!
After you fix the mechanical needs for the Escalade, then a new headliner and other misc. Nice Escalade.
I would drive on the rims and tires for the time being
Mike rims look good just refinish them! Keep up the great work your almost at 50000 !
Get the paint code then just take the fender to macco see how much it would cost to get them to paint that on its own
Paint code is at the very bottom of the SPID. In your case, 800J diamond white pearl tri coat.
I wish Randy would have been there to see that rotor when you took it off. That would have been some good viewing right there 😂.
This is it!.. I’ll buy it… if you use this for content.. so many videos you can do with this!!!
Great video. The paint code is at the bottom of that label.
Bless you. I hope you're okay 😊🙏
Keep fixing on that ole girl, I'll keep watching!
Hey Mike! Those rotors that were in the back looks like it’s for the rears
That’s what I was thinking to

She looks great with the short cut 😊
That's the Ride height sensor if you look on the upper control arm right below it you will see the ball stud it attached to
Fix the exhaust it will make a very big difference esp on resale. There is a cleaner and colorant that will improve the seats. "Legit street cars" used it to great effect many episodes back. Fender for us Americans.

It needs to be loved and brought back to life. Keep up the great work.
Found a reddit post r/Caddilac where someone retired their 03 with 518k miles. Keep fixing it is my suggestion.

If that was mine, I'd put an AM antenna in that fender hole. Doesn't even need to be hooked up. It would just cover the hole- super cheap.

Those bicycle wheels and rubber band tires were factory?!?!
mike that suv looks very nice with does rims just clean them

its a nice car if it runs save it change the fluids see what she does dont matter the mileage those cars are gone the good old times man bless
