I got all uptight thinking that we in the EV BMW were going to stall in Dallas traffic. I was greatly relieved when we made it to the exit with a little fuel left to get off the road. "Citin" Great road trip guys. Enjoyed! I might want one of those electric BMWs for my wife to drive around town, trips between Tulsa and Muskogee, and when we take Sunday afternoon drives. I will always have a small gas jug just in case we need headlights to get home in the dark. Yet another thing that needs to be kept on the "CHARGER" I would buy that BMW.

The best way to use the Rex is to switch it on at about 50% battery charge and use it holding that 50%. Then refuel with Gas. You then don't have to worry about issues with charging. real world range is 110-130 electric and an extra 70-80 miles on the Rex. Its just about energy management

We picked up a 2017 i3 REX last summer to "share" with our daughter (don't ask me how that's working out). You hit a lot of the high points -- with a nice sense of delight -- pretty quickly. Our experience in Southern California has been consistently positive, but that is in no small part because the charging network is robust. In moderate temperatures, when you can run in EcoPro+ mode, we routinely see 130+ miles of range, but driving at higher speeds (70+) or running the A/C full blast definitely dent your range. If you routinely drive more than 120 miles, this isn't the car for you -- but for around-town or shorter trips, especially if you have access to destination charging, the i3 is a great little car. Bonus: when I do get 'custody', I often go hiking at a spot where I can charge for free parked under a giant solar array. Yep, I literally am driving on sunshine. Good video -- thanks.

To complete the BMW electric esthetics fully you must wear your hair in a man bun, be wearing clogs, and do your knitting while it charges. Also, a kid seat or two in the back in matching materials as the car's interior goes well. Constant streams of texts from your wife who's a lawyer or doctor, reminding you to pick up the dog from the groomers can be expected. And you most likely had a vasectomy at the encouragement of the wife. How would I know this? My neighbor buddy is that guy that drives the i3

So, you are equating a BMW i3 to emasculating? The i3 isn't masculine in your opinion and the men who drive i3s are not masculine and have dominate wives?
And whats wrong with a female being dominate? A lot of women have to take charge in their lives or in their marriage for many reasons..
Your tone is very condescending as if you see yourself as more of a man because you drive the car of your choice versus the men who drive i3s? Really? I guess you're the type that believe all gay men are feminine and are easily spotted in a crowd or that all Black men are negative stereotypes?

No one will buy an EV if they live in a desolate area that has no charging infrastructure and they certainly wouldn't buy a car that does not fit their lifestyle.. I mean would you buy an EV that only gets 100 miles per charge on a good day if you drive way over 100 miles a day? No.
This car isn't for the masses and neither are most ICE cars..
If you live and work in a major city with plenty of charging infrastructure and you drive less than 100 miles round trip in a day, this 33kwh battery version is doable.
If you are able to charge at work and at home and your daily commute is within 75 miles or less roundtrip, any i3 battery version is doable..
If you have a REx version and you code it to Euro specs, you can drive on the freeways all day long for long distances as long as you keep gas in the tank and keep the battery level between 40% and 75%..

Purchase a EV with the range you can deal with on a daily bases.
Know whether you can charge at work or within where you live.
Most times you don't need to charge every day. If there are chargers near you house, you can charge there before going home (CCS chargers only take 20 to 30 minutes or less depending on speed and percentage of your battery)..
Many apartment indoor parking garages have 240 volts plugs, just find it and plug your car into it..
Ask the landlord to install 240 volts, I have friends that requested their landlords to install 240 plugs and their landlords did so..
I mean if you don't cook or want too or there is no kitchen in your apartment, what do you do?

Obviously, this was a comedy review of the i3.. LOL. There was no need to charge the car the first time because there was plenty of battery remaining.. He also stated the car was able to keep up with traffic on the freeway while the car's REx was engaged (no loss of power)..
It wasn't the car's fault that it wouldn't charge at first at that off brand charging station (its better to use EVgo, EA or ChargePoint).
And it was obvious he was kidding when he said he was running out of gas on while on the freeway..
The i3 is perfectly capable of holding its own and the i3S has a stiffer and lower suspension, more horse power and fatter tires and handles better on the freeway.

I thought the car was just some cheapy junk too until I actually got into one and drove it..
The build quality is excellent and it handles like a true BMW..
The steering is 100% precise and the skinny tires are for efficiency and not for handling, although it handles well. The sports version of this car handles even better..
Not my idea choice for long distances on the freeway of anything over 50 miles, but its doable and its an excellent car in the city. Chargers such as EVgo, EA and ChargePoint are always better than off brand chargers.
And if you can pick up a used i3 or i3S in excellent condition for $15k and you understand its limits and respect those limits, you will have a good experience with the car.
