Regardless of what anyone says about Toyotas, Lexus or whatever 20 year old luxury SUV. No SUV has had the reputation this Escalade has. Every rapper, football/basketball player or famous celebrity had this SUV. It was featured in probably every rap video in those days. It's on its way to being a true American classic.

You basically listed all the reasons I love my '08 Chevy Trailblazer. I could easily buy a brand new Lexus or AMG, but the Trailblazer is just what I like! It's super comfy, EVERYTHING works on it, it's quiet, REAL 4x4 with a locker (G80), super smooth, has everything I want without being overloaded with tech everything, and is equally comfortable driving across 3 states as it is popping down to the store for some groceries! I'd love to see an old Trailblazer (with 4x4 and the G80) on some of your offroad tests! I'm pretty sure the chassis is more capable than the front bumper!

I used to have an 04 Escalade EXT and I’ll tell you that I seriously miss that rig. Yes it’s the one that was designed after the Chevy Avalanche but it was much better looking and it had all of the same luxuries as demonstrated in this video plus some additional versatility to it. That 6.0 V8 was an absolute gem of an engine as well. You go into one of these expecting fuel economy then you’re obviously not looking for an suv but it definitely shines everywhere else.

I did the exact same thing - bought an 04 Escalade, pearl white from the estate of an old guy who recently passed and the thing is practically brand new! 67k miles! Had it for a couple years now and I love it. Completely reliable. The transmissions aren’t the greatest and that might go on me during my time with it. But for the money I paid, a rebuilt or new transmission isn’t going to bother me a bit. Great trucks if you can see past the old school “bling” factor.

My dream car is actually a 2004 Escalade in that bright blue color like every rapper or basketball player had. They look sharp on the outside, the interior is unmatched to any other SUV in luxury and comfort and all around this generation Escalade is just great. Sadly I've never got to sit in one or drive one but I have driven a GMC Denali about this model year so I got a good idea what an Escalade would be like and I have wanted one pretty much my whole life. Sooo... Not sure if yours aren't working or what... but there is for sure bolstering. It's even adjustable. It can literally squeeze you as much as you want it to. . . and remember it, amongst 12 other ways, for 2 drivers... along with mirrors, pedals, courtesy settings, etc. Also, the most desirable ones are 04-06, though all 800's are great. But there are little bits and bobs that get better at those years over the early ones. Better things and more things as well, more amenities. The nav system did become touch screen on the next model, the following year forward would get that one. Annd, worth mentioning... you need to EQ your music to get good sound from the BOSE system, but it can be really really good... even the built in sub. Same with the tahoes and suburbans/yukons, etc... Even just using an android device with software eq, patched into the factory system, you can get some really respectable rumbles out of the thing... as well as really isolating the mids and highs to whatever levels you desire. There are dedicated tweeters, mids, and lows... it's a full component system.
Also also... having the air shocks working is good, but having the actual magride / valve actuated ride control deal working, really makes a big difference. Most are converted to poo poo Monroe shocks up front by now, often out back too.

I put 2,300 miles on it in 3 days driving it to Alaska from Seattle. It begins its new life this month replacing a Ram 1500 for boat towing duty. Less than 100k miles on it, so it should be good for decades of duty at 1,000 miles or less per year.

I have a 2006 ESV and I drive my kids in it everywhere. I love it so much I just put a new fresh coat of paint on it since the clear coat was fading in certain spots. These trucks were 60K back then and GM made sure everything was quality at the time.

Re-post from the "over land" video......
Yes these are beasts of a truck. I have a 2008 Escalade EXT which is the pick up or "Avalanche" version and I have owned it since 2012, bought as a certified pre-owned with 30,000 miles. It currently has just over 100K miles. My truck has the 6.2 with 408 stock HP and all wheel drive. I don't take it off road but I do pull a large travel trailer and an even bigger boat. I have a 35+ foot boat with multiple engines that weighs in at over 10,000 pounds, add 2500 pounds trailer included. I love the look of people at the boat ramp at low tide when they see the massive boat I'm about the pull out of a steep wet boat ramp. They say "you aren't pulling that boat out with that truck"! Most boaters think you need a 3500 dually diesel 4X4 to pull anything bigger than a 22 footer. My Escalade pulls the boat out like it's not even there. The key is having the boat set right on the trailer so you have just the right amount of weight on the hitch. The weight of the 6.2 on the front wheels and the "stabilitrack" will do the rest for you. Lightly feather the gas peddle and up she goes.

Honestly, those SUVs are the best ones ever made. Tahoe suburban avalanche It doesn't matter, I mean anything with the third generation. Small block and a 4060 should be great for a long time. I mean if they came manual which they never did in the SUVs it would be even better. Imagine a manual swap Tahoe two-door OBS with a LS engine

I do enjoy your channel. I do however find it hilarious that you tube has placed Jaguar advert's at the beginning and throughout your videos. As a mechanic the amount of problems the diesel and the electric versions have unbelievable. I don't work on electric cars , someone who does and works at a dealership reliably informs me that learning brain surgery would be easier. As for the 2.0 ingen diesel...I will never be out of work , although if it's more than 7 or 8 years old the rising repair costs are no longer economical to private owners.
Still keep going , great reviews and fantastic scenery 👍👍👍👍

Why doesn't this one have the ventilated seats, it looks like it has the seat ventilation holes, and it doesn't have the heated and cooled cup holders either

I had a 2005 Tahoe that I loved. It ran great but 16 New England winters rusted it out. Engine was strong and drove great but the rust killed it. I would have driven it forever.

I have an '05 Escalade EXT. Bought used with 54k on it, now 148k. I've replaced water pump twice, brake lines, many sets of pads and rotors, power steering pump, replaced air shocks with standard shocks after air pump failed twice. Now, CD player doesn't work, 6-CD player seems to function, but no sound comes from it, driver's side heated seat comes on by itself repeatedly, had to have all the blend doors replaced with labor which was a $2,000 job! So, mechanically, it's been great, but it's at the point now where all this other stuff is failing and it's become a financial drain... oh, and rocker panel rust on both sides is getting worse every year.

I have the same year with exactly the same issues you mentioned. My drivers side heated seats only act up after heavy rain. The other stuff I deal with when I have to. Every year I keep saying "next year I going to upgrade " ,but to be honest, I still love driving it. Bought it with 50,000 miles, 14 years ago and have 170,000 on it now. My goal was to hit 200,000. We'll see!

@@thatotherguy1 got rid of mine almost a year ago since it would not pass PA state inspection. They wanted over $4,000 to fix rust in rear frame, replace rear bumper and supports, etc., etc., I finally had enough and sold it for $4,000. Too many other niggling problems that were pissing me off every time I drove it, too, so I'm glad to see it go. I do miss it though, that is - I miss the vehicle it once was....

One thing jumped out at me. The way the arm rest opens. My last couple vehicles they open at the back which makes it pretty awkward when driving to access things in the cubby.
Not sure why the switch. But put it back to side opening lol

I hate SUV's here in Germany, I'm driving a Cadillac seville and it's so low, you cant see the road with all those SUV's in front of you. I never wanted to be one of those rediculous people driving SUV's. But now, I could get an 2005 Escalade for only 6000€ in good condition. Maybe I should really go for it :)

The GMT800 is in my opinion the best most reliable GM truck platform to date. The GMT900 isn’t bad either, but GM was going through bankruptcy during those years and interior quality was a bit subpar.
