    I remember being in High School and seeing these in all the rap videos. It was crazy seeing them in person especially in the pearl white color or in black. When you saw one with rims you knew that person was a baller. One time I was walking from my school to the bus stop to go home, and I saw a white EXT (which was my favorite with the truck bed in the back) in pearl white and it was on 24" spinners. Yes spinners were cool back then don't deny it. And 24s were huge at that time, this was before 26's even came out let alone 28's 30's 32's etc. I was so in love with it, and I wanted to see who was driving it but I had to get on the bus.Back then these were like seeing a Rolls Royce Cullinan.

    I'm on my third Escalade. I started with an 05 standard wheelbase, moved to an 07 Luxury model that I still have, with only 81k miles on it but A LOT of underbody rust, even more rust than my 05 had or my 03 EXT has. I'm thinking of upgrading my 07 with an 18 or newer model as the last one that will carry me into retirement in the next few years but I'll be shopping for one from the south, Texas, Arizona, or So-Cal. My low mileage 07 is about ready to have the rust come through below the doors, you can actually push on the sheet metal and it moves.
    The 4L60E of the previous generation was the weak point, I think the 6L80E and 90 of the 07+ vehicles was a great improvement. My 05 I bought used at 60 k miles had a remanufactured trans in it and that was occasionally slipping at 80k when I got rid of it. The seats in my 05 and 03 are much more comfortable that the seats in my 07.
    You bring up a good point with the cylinder deactivation models today, they are a huge failure point that takes out the engine and many times the vehicle.

    I remember seeing dozens of Rip Tide Blue Gran Prix’s as a detailer. The problem is you can never touch them up, because the paint never lines up for the colour shift. You also could always tell which ones had paintwork for the same reason

    I love how he called out automotive journalists for wanting massive SUVs to be ridiculously fast and able to corner and have superb handling. As he said, it’s a 7 or 8 passenger massive SUV, that’s meant for family hauling and towing. Why does it need 500hp and to be able to corner like it’s on rails? (pretty woman reference 😉)

    Nice buy Hoovie, I have the same Escalade, same color, although mine's a base and not the ESV. Bought it at 163k, currently has 185k now. Only issues it had was a bad oil pressure sensor and a blown air shock. Cheap and easy fixes, pulls the wakeboat like a champ. You can't be more comfortable for less

    I’ve always been a huge fan of General Motors full size SUVs! You’re right, this generation of Escalade is hard to beat! My family has had 3 GMC Yukon Denalis. A 2009, 2013, and we currently have a 2016 Yukon XL Denali and absolutely love it! What I wish GM would’ve done is keep that comfort old school style of the older ones with the modern more stylish and sporty exterior. I love the exterior styling of the newer ones but I wish they were as comfortable as these older ones! Great video hoovie!

    • @rustler08
      @rustler08 3 года назад +1

      It's actually not hard to beat. Buy yourself a Japanese 3-row SUV, you've already beaten it. These things are plastic toyboxes that will rattle like a child's toy by 80,000 miles. That's always been the weakness of these, that they're cheap junk that doesn't hold up long-term. I've had rental SUVs with under 20,000 miles that had more rattles than a 200,000 Pilot.
      Their benefits are that the engine and transmission are cheap and easy to work on, but the engines in the Acuras and Lexus models are able to run hundreds of thousands of miles, so it's a wash there.
      Honestly, these are just great to pick up for cheap and trash them. I'd never want one for the "Luxury," because an older GX or LX gives more Luxury than these do.

    • @ClassicChrome01
      @ClassicChrome01 3 года назад

      @@rustler08 I agree with you on some of that. Lexus is my all time favorite brand. My mom has owned 5 of them and I currently own one. My moms current 2016 Yukon Denali has 103,000 miles and we’ve had zero issues and it still looks and drives like it’s brand new. No rattles at all. But yes, some of those older ones do have rattling problems. The 4th generation gm suvs have been my favorite so far. I haven’t really seen much of the new generation but I’m sure they are even better. But you’re right. Japanese cars are definitely the best of the best. I just prefer General Motors when it comes to full size SUVs

Same thing with whatever that Lincoln Mark whatever. If he did it once I would have probably chuckled but he does it every single time he references the car. It's no longer funny.
