- Javant demonstrate the versatility of his most popular recipe on both IG and RUclips, Veggie Ground. He will show how to use it to replace meat in some more common dishes- pasta rolls, burgers and lettuce wraps.
From Javant:
My health journey began nearly 17 years ago. After a personal health scare I discovered the power of nutrition, lost 80 pounds, and continued eating my way to better health. Following many years of independent health study and research I decided to go back to school to become a dietitian, but after 2 years I became frustrated with the way that nutrition was taught and practiced, so I decided to take a different route to further deepen my understanding of nutrition and health, which ultimately led me to become a certified Nutritarian Cook and Coach.
About 1 year ago I started Healthy Vegan Eating as a platform to share health information and vegan recipes that empower others on their journeys toward improving their health. All of my recipes are organic, minimally processed and completely free of oil, wheat, refined-sugar, and rice.
Stay tuned for my Healthy Vegan Meal Plan and Fitness App launching this summer. The app includes over 300 printable healthy vegan recipes with accompanying videos showing how to make them, it generates meal plans, and printable grocery lists. The app will also include fitness videos where I discuss and demonstrate different exercises that I use to stay healthy and fit, plus other informative videos, and so much more.

Veggie Ground
1 head of cauliflower
2 medium carrots
1 onion
3 cloves of garlic
16 oz portobello mushrooms (**)
2 tbsp Italian seasoning
1 tbsp paprika
2 tsp sage
2 tsp garlic granules
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp oregano
2 tsp cumin powder
1.5 cups walnuts (*)
3 tbsp tomato paste
3 tsp salt OR TO YOUR TASTE
* for nut free version omit walnuts and add another 8oz of portobello mushrooms more coarsely chopped than the first portion to keep some texture.
** for mushroom free, use an equivalent amount of jackfruit and process it into smaller pieces.
Coarsely chop all vegetables and garlic in a food processor. Mushrooms can be made even coarser for a more meaty texture (This will need to be done in batches)
Coarsely chop walnuts along with tomato paste until combined.
Add 1 tbsp of water to the heated pan.
Add vegetables and mushrooms and continue to cook on medium-high until all the water releases (10-15 minutes)
When most of the water has cooked out add seasoning. Continue to cook on medium for another 10 minutes, or until all the water has evaporated.
Turn off heat and add walnut and tomato paste mixture. Mix thoroughly to combine.
Add to your dish of choice.
He is one of the best cooking vegan people online in my opinion for two reasons: his cooking is simple (not a lot of equipment or sticking stuff in ovens, etc) and he shows us how to make vegan goodies that people actually normally consume (i.e. wraps and lasagna, stuff like that).
I read your comment as best “looking” at first 😅Also true
Yes!! He's amazing!! A blessing!! 🌟🌿✨🙏🏽
Agree 100%
Yes! I agree!!!!!
💯💯💯💯
I love how he ends his video with MAKE YOUR OWN!
This gentleman is so awesome! At the beginning of January I went on a Fast to reset and once I got through that 2wks fast I never turned back and this gentleman recipe/videos has helped me. I am now dairy free, gluten free, plant base, organic fruits and vegetables. I quit eating red meats, chicken. However, I do eat fish at leaat once a week. Let me tell you I feel amazing!!! I'm 53 almost 54 and blessed I have never had any major health issues, no high blood pressure, no diabetes, and I wanted to keep it that way. So, after the Fast I never went back to my regular diet. Honestly, I did try going back but my body rejected the food. To be fully transparent I have not ate fruits and vegetables in 30+yrs. After having my daughter my body change it became sensitive. When I ate them I would vomit them up. When I grew up there wasnt much research done on pesticides etc. and things they would spray on fruits abd vegetables and I definitely couldnt afford organic. So, went yrs w/o fruits and vegetables. Today, Meatless, organic, dairy free, plant based, gluten free is my new norm. Im not 100% there more like 95% but I can still tell this change has made a significant difference in my health. Check out his videos/recipes. You will not be disappointed.
Glad life improved dramatically from your commitment to your health... Ya it can be a challenge to have pesticide free Unless it's your neighborhood trees or gardens... But, there are ways even when organic isn't an option like soaking fruits & veggies in fresh water & baking soda for 10-15 mins lifts most of it from things you can't easily peel, or are thin skinned so concerned about get'n it all ..
Gen things like citrus can be peeled with no worries ... Find the local trees you can pick, or swap something to your neighbor for in season fruit they often have waay more than they can use, and you gen have pesticide Organic really home grown you know The source... I'd try plant'n if you can your own lon & orange trees too..... They'll grow in planters etc, to control soil & water and so be transportable to a new place...
He is absolutely one of my favorites! And I LOVE to hear his voice. ❤
Javant has been my favorite cooking channel to watch since May. I found out I was pre-diabetic too in October. At 5.9A1C, I started listening to Dr. Brooke Goldner and am at 5.7 now. I'm about to try Javant's recipes for holidays 2023. I'm so motivated in the kitchen. Til then, more raw veggies and smoothies for me.
I really love Javant's positive attitude to supporting people to better health. We can help people more by showing them little steps and non-judgement.
Absolutely! 💯
He is such a cool man. I like how serious he is and how wholesome his recipes are.
I love the seriousness of it all lol
. . . totally agree . . . he is super sharp in so many ways . . . 🥰
I love Javant! Anything on his show is worth making for taste and health value. AND a new dessert cookbook by Chef AJ, can't wait!
Thank you Chef AJ for having Javet on show. I love
those easy dishes that Javet made with the veggie crumble; they looked so delicious. 😋
Our pleasure!
Javant is outstanding and very lucid in his explanations.
He is awesome!!!
I first discovered Javant's Healthyveganeating by watching this interview. Now,I'm a huge fan of Javant's veggie ground and other recipes.
This veggie ground is awesome!! My 12 year old loves it in her pasta sauce. Yes you can freeze it and it comes out fresh every time!!

Discovered him on IG great interview love his post on IG
? When is his book coming out?
Very few restaurants can accommodate the different food diets which is a good thing it’s just not that many.
❤
Great video! Hey Javant, have you tried Green Salt?
What is green 💚 🧂 where do you find it???? 🤔
Hi. Just wondering... what is a sos menu?
chef AJ, what makeup do you use? Your skin looks so wrinkle free.
What are the rolls made of?
Javant do you have a butter recipe?
I keep Veggie Ground in my freezer. I freeze in 16 oz Mason Jar, so I have it on hand in small portions for various recipes. So, when I make taco's, I add ground Chipotle powder to give it Mexican flavor or for an Italian dish I add more oregano and basil.
THAT'S AWESOME!
HOW LONG WILL IT LAST IN THE FREEZER?
@@6kidsrule1 Not sure, cause by the 3rd Month I've used it up and making a new batch. so for me, every 3 months I'm making a new batch, and I freeze half of it
Javant is quite a gem! A handsome man who cooks and invents recipes. Thank you Javant and Chef AJ I enjoyed this so much.
Our pleasure!
I screamed when I saw the title for this video! Love that you had Javant on your show Chef AJ! ❤️
Hope you enjoyed it!
Me too! I was so excited when I saw who was on🎉😂
OMG I think I'm in love. If only I was like 50 years younger. LOL. Yes, his food looked so delicious! You forgot to ask Javant if he had a significant other that eats like him. He'd be a real catch, that is for sure. I'm going to his channel and subscribe and get his recipes. WOW. And he could remember every detail he read in Dr. Fuhrman's books and could re-quote Dr. Fuhrman's facts and quotes. Impressive. Very impressive.
@@babycakes8434 - Well, you know they say, "a lady never tells her age." But hey, I'm up there, I will say that. LOL.
Yes! I am amazed by this guy I have been eating close to this , but he’s on another level and I am loving it!
Love Javet's integrity around sticking to a healthy organic vegan diet and how spacious and kind Javet is to folks who make different dietary choices. Also Javet was the most prepared RUclips chef I have ever seen, perfect demonstation of his ground vegetable recipe. Very inspiring man.
Ok I see we have some eye candy today.😍 I'm late. Now I have to rewind again cuz I missed what he said is in the recipe for the 2nd time 😋🤦🏾♀️
A shortcut is to use frozen riced cauliflower and pre shredded carrots. Then plus the other ingredients and add to the pan. I also use walnuts.
Great idea!!
Thank you because I cannot have mushrooms.
I so much agree with Javant that "you don't know how good it feels to feel good until you feel good." It's like the first time I put on eye glasses and didn't realize I was supposed to see that well! When my gut changed, after eating WFPB, I never went back. Appreciate the nut free version as well.
As an Optician... One of the ways I got especially younger patients who don't wanna admit they need glasses to put em on... Was to have them look at something I knew wouldn't be clear without that Rx... Then I'd say, see what happens now with the Rx... Every time it was a silent exhale of OMG the trees had leaves, people have clear features they Can see now Not a vague view but ALL the details they were miss'n think'n, maybe that view across the street or room was further away than it was ....
What I exp'd then, this is what 20/20 looks like, what your miss'n without your glasses 🤓
It helped tons to demonstrate that to them.... Cause We ALL compensate, have too, when you can't do something fully, But if you Can bring yourself closer to full capacity with say better shoes, glasses or Real food that works with and nourishes your body Not just cravings, you Will feel it and that's what Sells anything!
So No judgement is key ... Just try this you might like, benefit etc... and find ways to introduce sutlely, so it's Not a battle or concern... Like at dinner, or parties Always have many good & healthy choices that are better versions of what's popular but Not always good for us ... People Will be amazed and often add em to their diet long before health forces any changes.... So you've done them a kindness they won't forget and pass it on! 🫡
🌱🕊💚 Extraordinary person just like you AJ!!
What a chef! What a teacher! What an informative gift to anyone who desires to improve their health! And ultimately helps the animals and our environment. 👏👏👏👏
Love Javant!!!! His recipes are amazing 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Just made this with a few changes to the herbs and spices used. OMG. Absolutely delisch!
I made the veggie ground last week intending to freeze some of it but I ate it all before I had the chance. Definitely worth the effort to make this!!!!
I love Javant's gentle calm focused energy in his videos. So watching his cooking is like a retreat moment of nurturing oneself 😊
I love his recipes & his approach . He is a favorite & his veggie ground is wonderful & I keep it made up . I am a 74 yr old fan .
76 here and love this man and his approach to life and food.
I love how much integrity Javant has. I’ve watched his RUclips and had that feeling, but that he quit dietitian courses midway through for all the right reasons I respect him that much more. The schools could have learned from him!
Love the interview! All Javant's recipes are amazing.
Has he ever considered opening up a meal delivery service business. He cooks, I eat😊
His motto says it all - in my best deep Javant voice - "MAKE YOUR OWWNNN"!!❤😂❤
YES!! Cookbook! Thanks for featuring Javant AJ! I always freeze my burgers before cooking and let slightly defrost. They turn out great. Javant is the picture of health and fitness. He's not overdone ; ) I use ceramic cookware. I'm now concerned based on what Javant found. : ( I have a cast iron pan I've had for several decades but love the pan Javant is using. I've bought Eziequel sprouted bread and tortillas for years and love them. I need to try making Javant's cheese! It's nearly impossible to find decent cheese. Love that Javant is doing an app!
Which pans does he use?
What a great guest, He’s brilliant, genuine , well read, and a great cook as well. Thanks for having him on your show. His confidence gives me great incentive. Thanks again.
Javant has the BEST screen presence of any vegan RUclipsr I follow. Fit, smart, great speaker, etc.
Love this comment! Thank you so much for appreciating me and my approach, your words are so inspiring!!!
@@healthyveganeating you have a fabulous talent! Keep running with it! Congrats!
💯💯💯
I can’t wait for your App!! I’ve been binge watching your channels 🙌👏
Thank you!
Javant is such a great role model for anyone looking to eat for their health. I have tried a few of his recipes and loved them.
I recently found his channel and I love the recipes he shares ❤️
He is so great!!! He has a great voice. Such a neat sound. Love this interview.
Chef AJ keeps a roster of epic guests! Thank you. Yeah, I subscribe to his channel & he's the bomb!
Javant is so calming to watch... I love that he's so informative as well... can't wait to try his recipes! 😊
How wonderful to get to meet :D what a charming, lovely, talented guy :) suuuch beautiful food, too :D we do indeed eat the first bite with our eyes - great way of rephrasing that :) thank you so much
Good for you using glass. Plastic food containers make me cringe. Also, I’m with you on organic only. Eventually it’ll be the norm. You’re a great chef.
One of the RUclipsrs should do a review and tour of the SOS-Free Restaurants. It might motivate more restaurants to offer SOS-Free dishes
Luv Javant’s Recipe’s & his die hard commitment, well thxs for also committing to help the people, I am on the fence about vegan, doing my research now, thxs Chef AJ for the guest & ur great questions & comments, Bon Appetite! ❤
Just dont eat rice grown in Louisiana, Arkansas or Texas.
Or brands like Rivana
This is mainly where they sprayed arsenic on cotton crops!
Rice seems to actually naturally contain some arsenic too!
I love this guy,the way he has prepared his life just as Gensis said, every herb eating seed ,I shift my diet back to Gen1:29-30, it realy pays off to start NOW, your organs need to be healthy.
So good to see Javant on the show. Can’t wait to try the lasagna.
I haven’t been to a restaurant in ages! I agree. I don’t want all the oils and bad food they serve.
The salt is the one thing I have not been able to conquer. Salt makes a difference in taste but until I can find something that gives that salt flavor I will just continue to have tasteless food. Cutting sugar was easier because I really don’t like things too sweet.
We need salt... Just Not regular table salt... Real Sea salts are best... Himalayan and UTAH are #2 of the Best for fluid regulation in your body cells & the trace minerals!!! Check it out Don't ditch, switch to Real Sea salt! 🤫
I share your passion for healthy vegan eating. You are fabulous! Love your recipes. I can’t wait for the App!! I look forward to continuing to watch you on You Tube❤
Totally agree. I made it but didn't like it at first. But once it set over night it's awesome.
Love chef AJ, Dr . Fuhrman, and Javant’s food . Thanks ❤
Such a cool guy, want to make this veggie crumble. Thanks Chef AJ for all you do.
Javant's recipes are awesome! He ... makes ... his ... own!!
Ezekiel bread has turned out not to be a good bread. Anything that becomes commercialized is usually not good. Better to make your own.
Recently found his channel and love his recipes and his way of teaching is straight forward which for a lot of new people to this way of eating is so important
I LOVE the shorts that he posts!!! The best looking food and such a calm and cool man.
Would butternut squash work instead of carrots?
Why not!
Javant is such great guest, Chef AJ! His conviction to SOS recipes is inspiring! Love his Instagram page as well
I love his cooking videos, and he has such a soothing voice.
On his You Tube video. How to make easy Healthy Vegan Cheese
Thank you for introducing us to all of these incredible humans❤🙌🏽
Been following you for awhile. Great to hear you follow Dr F. I’ve been following him for years now.
Wow! He doesn't even know how much he sounds like Chef AJ 😂 Sharon recommended him for a reason 💯✊🏾💖
He's so cool, been following him on FB stories!
What town is this that has these sis restaurants. I live on northern califi and we have one vegan restaurant but it's not oil feee
Just came across him in social media. Love this guy!
Congratulations, and happy anniversary, Chef, AJ! You are an inspiration beyond measure to more people than you can possibly fathom! Myself included.😉 thank you for your guest today. I recently started following him. I enjoy his food and mindset. It warms my heart as a woman of color, who often feels very isolated in the vegan/Whole Foods plant based community ❤
Thank you so much!
Love Javant's videos and recipes
Great interview. Love his passion
Love these videos. Just now discovering Javant.
Javant if you’re out there please share your seed/tomato paste breakfast. I’ve heard you mention it in the couple RUclips videos that I have watched already.😊
Thanks to Javant & Chef AJ I now have a new meal mix which is sooooo Goood! Very easy to put together & it makes a big portion.
My frying pan was too small, so I used a deep rectangular stainless steel roasting pan which worked a treat- more surface area & was super easy to mix in the pan.
Shepherds, pie cabbage rolls the options are endless! Thank you so much
Javant's sincerity and passion is so evident! I have been following him on IG for quite some time. Thanks for having him on because I didn't know his story etc. Please have him on more often!!!
Couldn't agree more!
These are very good . Glad to see how to make my own. Thanks.
he is great, love his channel and the dishes, I made many.
Great interview 🎉
Javant is one of my favorite vegan foodies, he has awesome recipes.
Now I'm looking for help. How do you go salt free? Sugar free is easy, I use bananas or dates to replace sugar.
But I love salt. Tamari, Kalakaua olives, salt and vinegar on my air-fried potatoes.
Is there anyone here who successfully cut out salt, after having had a lifelong salty-tooth?
How did you do it ?
Salts are in ALL foods... So you're NEVER go'n Salt Free regardless... What you need is Sea salts with minerals that help you with fluid functions in your cells...
DON'T.... Use natural food versions kelp, Sea salts with minerals! You need them! 💯
I’m so happy to see him on your show @ChefAJ!!
I found Javant recently in my RUclips feed and have been loving his recipes.. I even commented on one of his videos within the last couple of weeks how he could be on your show 😆😆 mysterious ways of the universe 🤩🫶🏼💫✨ you had probably already recorded this ..
Awesome! love your channel @ChefAJ!!!🤗🌱🥦💚
I chuckled, when you 2 kept speaking at the same time.
You appear to be synchronized!
Thank you for what you do.
The conversations that you have are so important to what the collective needs to know, that healthy living, and as this video demonstrates, cooking, does not have to be intimidating, or difficult.
Be Well.
And again, thank you.
I just recently discovered Javant, and I just love him! I like the fact that he recognizes that many people need « the visual » of ground beef; I agree that it is important in the beginning of the transition, and equally (if not more) important when one person in the household has transitioned but others have not.
CHEF i subscribe to your channel do not worry about the not so many views as long as you can get one person just one to be impacted by your life changing recipes that can catapol one to into becoming a better version of themselves what is better wow wow and am that one person keep going AJ stay a authentic God bless
Absolutely it's growing, and will mushroom! 🍄
They are now saying portabella mushrooms are toxic. I heard that a couple of years ago. I was watching Joe Rogan and he had Paul Stamens (mushroom man) on and Paul said he couldn't talk about portabellas.
