  • Javant demonstrate the versatility of his most popular recipe on both IG and RUclips, Veggie Ground. He will show how to use it to replace meat in some more common dishes- pasta rolls, burgers and lettuce wraps.
    From Javant:
My health journey began nearly 17 years ago. After a personal health scare I discovered the power of nutrition, lost 80 pounds, and continued eating my way to better health. Following many years of independent health study and research I decided to go back to school to become a dietitian, but after 2 years I became frustrated with the way that nutrition was taught and practiced, so I decided to take a different route to further deepen my understanding of nutrition and health, which ultimately led me to become a certified Nutritarian Cook and Coach.
About 1 year ago I started Healthy Vegan Eating as a platform to share health information and vegan recipes that empower others on their journeys toward improving their health. All of my recipes are organic, minimally processed and completely free of oil, wheat, refined-sugar, and rice.
Stay tuned for my Healthy Vegan Meal Plan and Fitness App launching this summer. The app includes over 300 printable healthy vegan recipes with accompanying videos showing how to make them, it generates meal plans, and printable grocery lists. The app will also include fitness videos where I discuss and demonstrate different exercises that I use to stay healthy and fit, plus other informative videos, and so much more.

    Veggie Ground
    1 head of cauliflower
    2 medium carrots
    1 onion
    3 cloves of garlic
    16 oz portobello mushrooms (**)
    2 tbsp Italian seasoning
    1 tbsp paprika
    2 tsp sage
    2 tsp garlic granules
    1 tsp thyme
    1 tsp oregano
    2 tsp cumin powder
    1.5 cups walnuts (*)
    3 tbsp tomato paste
3 tsp salt OR TO YOUR TASTE
    * for nut free version omit walnuts and add another 8oz of portobello mushrooms more coarsely chopped than the first portion to keep some texture.
** for mushroom free, use an equivalent amount of jackfruit and process it into smaller pieces.
Coarsely chop all vegetables and garlic in a food processor. Mushrooms can be made even coarser for a more meaty texture (This will need to be done in batches)
Coarsely chop walnuts along with tomato paste until combined.
Add 1 tbsp of water to the heated pan.
Add vegetables and mushrooms and continue to cook on medium-high until all the water releases (10-15 minutes)
When most of the water has cooked out add seasoning. Continue to cook on medium for another 10 minutes, or until all the water has evaporated.
Turn off heat and add walnut and tomato paste mixture. Mix thoroughly to combine.
Add to your dish of choice.

He is one of the best cooking vegan people online in my opinion for two reasons: his cooking is simple (not a lot of equipment or sticking stuff in ovens, etc) and he shows us how to make vegan goodies that people actually normally consume (i.e. wraps and lasagna, stuff like that).

This gentleman is so awesome! At the beginning of January I went on a Fast to reset and once I got through that 2wks fast I never turned back and this gentleman recipe/videos has helped me. I am now dairy free, gluten free, plant base, organic fruits and vegetables. I quit eating red meats, chicken. However, I do eat fish at leaat once a week. Let me tell you I feel amazing!!! I'm 53 almost 54 and blessed I have never had any major health issues, no high blood pressure, no diabetes, and I wanted to keep it that way. So, after the Fast I never went back to my regular diet. Honestly, I did try going back but my body rejected the food. To be fully transparent I have not ate fruits and vegetables in 30+yrs. After having my daughter my body change it became sensitive. When I ate them I would vomit them up. When I grew up there wasnt much research done on pesticides etc. and things they would spray on fruits abd vegetables and I definitely couldnt afford organic. So, went yrs w/o fruits and vegetables. Today, Meatless, organic, dairy free, plant based, gluten free is my new norm. Im not 100% there more like 95% but I can still tell this change has made a significant difference in my health. Check out his videos/recipes. You will not be disappointed.

Glad life improved dramatically from your commitment to your health... Ya it can be a challenge to have pesticide free Unless it's your neighborhood trees or gardens... But, there are ways even when organic isn't an option like soaking fruits & veggies in fresh water & baking soda for 10-15 mins lifts most of it from things you can't easily peel, or are thin skinned so concerned about get'n it all ..
Gen things like citrus can be peeled with no worries ... Find the local trees you can pick, or swap something to your neighbor for in season fruit they often have waay more than they can use, and you gen have pesticide Organic really home grown you know The source... I'd try plant'n if you can your own lon & orange trees too..... They'll grow in planters etc, to control soil & water and so be transportable to a new place...

I'm about to try Javant's recipes for holidays 2023. I'm so motivated in the kitchen. Til then, more raw veggies and smoothies for me.

I so much agree with Javant that "you don't know how good it feels to feel good until you feel good." It's like the first time I put on eye glasses and didn't realize I was supposed to see that well! When my gut changed, after eating WFPB, I never went back. Appreciate the nut free version as well.

    • @les9058
      @les9058 6 месяцев назад +2

As an Optician... One of the ways I got especially younger patients who don't wanna admit they need glasses to put em on... Was to have them look at something I knew wouldn't be clear without that Rx... Then I'd say, see what happens now with the Rx... Every time it was a silent exhale of OMG the trees had leaves, people have clear features they Can see now Not a vague view but ALL the details they were miss'n think'n, maybe that view across the street or room was further away than it was ....
What I exp'd then, this is what 20/20 looks like, what your miss'n without your glasses 🤓
It helped tons to demonstrate that to them.... Cause We ALL compensate, have too, when you can't do something fully, But if you Can bring yourself closer to full capacity with say better shoes, glasses or Real food that works with and nourishes your body Not just cravings, you Will feel it and that's what Sells anything!
So No judgement is key ... Just try this you might like, benefit etc... and find ways to introduce sutlely, so it's Not a battle or concern... Like at dinner, or parties Always have many good & healthy choices that are better versions of what's popular but Not always good for us ... People Will be amazed and often add em to their diet long before health forces any changes.... So you've done them a kindness they won't forget and pass it on! 🫡

Congratulations, and happy anniversary, Chef, AJ! You are an inspiration beyond measure to more people than you can possibly fathom! Myself included.😉 thank you for your guest today. I recently started following him. I enjoy his food and mindset. It warms my heart as a woman of color, who often feels very isolated in the vegan/Whole Foods plant based community ❤

Love these videos. Just now discovering Javant.
Javant if you’re out there please share your seed/tomato paste breakfast. I’ve heard you mention it in the couple RUclips videos that I have watched already.😊

Thanks to Javant & Chef AJ I now have a new meal mix which is sooooo Goood! Very easy to put together & it makes a big portion.
My frying pan was too small, so I used a deep rectangular stainless steel roasting pan which worked a treat- more surface area & was super easy to mix in the pan.

    Great interview 🎉
Javant is one of my favorite vegan foodies, he has awesome recipes.
Now I'm looking for help. How do you go salt free? Sugar free is easy, I use bananas or dates to replace sugar.
But I love salt. Tamari, Kalakaua olives, salt and vinegar on my air-fried potatoes.
Is there anyone here who successfully cut out salt, after having had a lifelong salty-tooth?
How did you do it ?

Salts are in ALL foods... So you're NEVER go'n Salt Free regardless... What you need is Sea salts with minerals that help you with fluid functions in your cells...

DON'T.... Use natural food versions kelp, Sea salts with minerals! You need them! 💯

I chuckled, when you 2 kept speaking at the same time.
    You appear to be synchronized!
Thank you for what you do.
The conversations that you have are so important to what the collective needs to know, that healthy living, and as this video demonstrates, cooking, does not have to be intimidating, or difficult.
    Be Well.
    And again, thank you.

I just recently discovered Javant, and I just love him! I like the fact that he recognizes that many people need « the visual » of ground beef; I agree that it is important in the beginning of the transition, and equally (if not more) important when one person in the household has transitioned but others have not.

They are now saying portabella mushrooms are toxic. I heard that a couple of years ago. I was watching Joe Rogan and he had Paul Stamens (mushroom man) on and Paul said he couldn't talk about portabellas.
