@@carvertmmy My understanding is Dr. Essy's plan is also no oil or salf and little sugar, at least for the plant-perfect plan for those with heart disease.
Just starting my plant-based journey and ran across you two ladies! You are a hoot!! Working my way through your videos, laughing all the way! Wish my mom was still with me to team up with!! She would be just like Ann, get those hands in there!! 🥰
Whenever I want to add great umami flavor to any savory dish - I always add sautéed onions- And I never ever add oil to the pan- it’s totally unnecessary! But you need to watch them - add very small amounts of water if the onions stick to the pan. Stir often. With some patience- the onions become translucent and eventually brown. They develop the most delicious oniony flavor that lends richness to any vegan dish!
I just made these burgers tonight and they were DELICIOUS!!! 🤤 My NON-plant based husband loved them so much that he wants to take them for lunch tomorrow! Thank you for your motivating videos and great recipes. 🥦🍅🥬🍠🥕🌶️
1.5 cup each of cooked quinoa, sweet potato and 'bean' (make sure you smash the beans). 1/2 cup onion. Clove of garlic. Some oats (they don't tell you how much). 2 tbs cumin. 2 tsp smoked paprika. 1 tsp coriander. Chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder and oregano (they don't tell you how much, but it looked like 1 tsp)
You ladies are so funny and fun to watch! Love how real you all are, no acting, just being yourselves, thank you for the recipe! I will be making this one 👍

A huge thumb's up! 👍 I made these recently, and they are delicious! I doubled the recipe and got exactly 18 burgers, using a 1/2-cup measuring cup. For the buns, I used the Ezekiel brand's "Food for Life" 7-grain English muffins, because they are oil-free. For my toppings, I added a thin layer of an oil-free hummus on the bottom slice and sprinkled a little nutritional yeast flakes on -- that was my "cheese." Then, I added a burger; then I added a few squirts of organic ketchup and Dijon mustard; then I added some sliced tomato; and lastly, I added a handful of broccoli slaw (no sauce, just shredded broccoli that you can get in the produce section in 16-ounce bags, pre-washed). From the moment I stepped foot into my kitchen, until everthing was done cooking, it took me 1 hour and 55 minutes. Folks, these are sooooo good!
Nancy and Ed, I appreciate you mentioning me at the opening of your video. I started my railroad career with Southern Railway in September 1973. I retired from Norfolk Southern in 2003. Now, with Marcelle's wonderful help, we're making railroad videos and posting them on RUclips. Also enjoyed getting to see your family.
I have maintained for a long time that the taste of traditional beef burgers comes down to the condiments; the meat is negligible! But plant based burgers have a lot of flavor on their own and then the condiments actually complement them. So much fun; love Ann and Jane! Watching you always makes my day! Really love the cookbook; bean burgers on today's menu for sure.

These look so good, and you all re so funny. Decided to go plant based after reading " The China Study" then I had a heart attack. Plant based is the way to go. Had to laugh at the Heinz catsup, and your comment about burgers being a vehicle for catsup. In our school lunch program it's a vegetable LOL.
Sounds yummy!! Just a thought . . . I like to make veggie sliders by using a small ice cream/cookie scoop and then I flatten before baking like you. If I toast 2 slices of bread and quarter, they’re perfect slider size. Then, add the goodies. They’re so cute and bite size w/ sliced cherry tomato and a pickle on top. Once in awhile, I just use hot dog rolls, cut in 3rds, too. Can’t wait to try your recipe this weekend. Thank you!
I love the way you always use natural ingredients available to anyone at the grocery store, how you are not using processed “plant meats,” and not using ingredients we must purchase from a place you are promoting. I don’t want to have to buy a “special sauce” for example in order to make a recipe you are sharing.

I have been really amazed at how easy it is to cook without oil! No need to spend the money on something that you don’t need in your diet. I bought the cookbook for myself, two family members who are doctors and upon my suggestion, the library where I work bought it! BUT , I wish you had printed it in the spiral format from the start!

Sometimes I wonder about those Silicon non stick mats vs just a brushing of oil in a baking dish. I just cant bring myself to use those things that r made with silicon. So for me I use parchment paper and just a brush of oil so they dont stick otherwise they will. I have read some info from environmental toxins and depending on who's study those silicon baking pads r not that healthy. Not criticizing but bit concerned. So hence , making my burgers I do admit to a brush of oil on the bottom of the baking dish with some corn meal & then I can flip them and they dont fall apart. I do saute all my veges in water or vege broth no oil . This is a great burger recipe. I have started using butter beans ( which r just large lima beans). They have a rich buttery taste & love them in my burgers Happy burger eating.

Yesss! Warrior Burger! Ladies you did good. I just love to add vegiburger recipes to my repertoire... Minus the quinoa, I'll sub for millet or something. Truly, women warriors with honor.
Enjoyed the previous video with the pro athlete burger also.
Good to see no oil in the pan.
I love momma Esselstyn cuz she's not afraid to use the God given tools. Hands. I learned her way to prepare meals. Spoons, spatulas, knives are good too!! lol!!
It would be really nice if you guys would give the amounts to the spices and the oats. Otherwise we’re just left in the dark and how to make this tasty dish. I would like to buy your cookbook once I return from vacation, but it would be nice to try a dish before purchase.
I have your cookbook and can't wait to make the burger!!
I bought your book when it first came out, took it to Staples & had the book “spiralized”!
To answer your question about cilantro and coriander, I cannot tolerate the taste of cilantro - it tastes like soap to me. But I really like coriander. Looking forward to trying this veggie burger! Thanks, Janet
Cilantro and coriander are the same thing.
These are the only burgers I can make that stay together and don't fall apart.
