    Love the cookbook review, I actually have this cookbook and most recipes I’ve tried are really good, banana muffins, scones, seed and nut bark, lasagna are among my favorites so far. Of all the plant based recipe books I have, this is the one with the most recipes I’ve tried and loved.

    I'm a fan of the Esselstyn ladies too and I think their cookbook might help me add variety to my meals. I like how genuine your family is and the language doesn't bother me. It's the reality of how we all talk in our homes lol Just be you as you seem like big hearted people that are promoting healthier eating which is a win win scenario!

  • @alexandrawalters8953
    @alexandrawalters8953 Год назад +14

    I’m adding a second, separate comment (hope that’s ok). I’ve been reading a few comments about using language they don’t like. Permit me to offer my opinion: you and your family make me as a viewer feel like I’m sitting and chilling in the kitchen with you. Your videos feel fun, relaxed, and real, and I love them just as they are. If you have to change your natural personalities to please a few, it’s disappointing… none of you should have to be that self conscious. It’s a well established understanding in social media: if you don’t like the content, keep scrolling. I think there are more people who like you just as you are, and I hope you keep letting your family participate without stuffy constraints.
    Ok, I’ll get back off my soap box now (dragging it away, it’s too heavy for me to carry). ✌️

    • @pbwithjeremy
      @pbwithjeremy  Год назад +5

      You can write as many comments as you'd like! Really appreciate that. Normally I'd be inclined to agree, but some of the people said they'd prefer to not have the language so they'd feel better about showing it to their kids or grandkids - which I can understand and get behind. We've had a lot of lovely comments about how our kids have inspired other kids to try more unique foods. That said, I'm never going to censor my kids - but we're more likely to bleep certain words out moving forward. Shouldn''t change the overall vibe of the videos. Glad you're enjoying them so much and we make you feel like you're part of the fam :) Thank you for writing this - it means a lot!

    • @alexandrawalters8953
      @alexandrawalters8953 Год назад +2

      @@pbwithjeremy that sounds like a good response - “bleeping” can allow you all to converse as you normally would, and then adapt to making the videos more shareable. I can appreciate your respect for those who are uncomfortable with this type of speech - it’s normal in our household, but I do have a couple of friends with whom I deliberately avoid certain words, out of respect for their feelings. ☮️

      Exactly. We don't want to stop just being ourselves by any means, but we also know it's important for people of a broader audience to be able to enjoy our channel so we're trying to find a balance.

      I also love the real feel of a normal (not magazine faux) family life. I love that your kids will try stuff. My kids are adults but when they were at home, they flat out refused to eat anything "healthy". I've been plant based since 2001 and they were 7 and 9. So kudos to you Jeremy!

    Hello from West Virginia! You mixed the ingredients too much for the Crispy Checkin’ Nuggets. Leave more texture. When I made them I added 1 teaspoon of Sage, and used breadcrumbs that I made from homemade bread. That added a nice crunch. I also made some patty size that we ate on homemade bread.

    Thanks for cooking from this cookbook. I bought it when it came out and haven’t done much from it. Definitely making those cookies!! Another book that I bought and ignored is PlantPure Comfort Food by Kim Campbell. Just going to throw that out into the ether if you would like to give it a whirl with the full disclosure that I have not made one singe recipe from it. I could be dooming you and your lovely, entertaining family to a week of bad food for which I would be eternally sorry. On the plus column it does have a lot of gluten free recipes.

Luckily our Toronto library system is fully stocked with tons of cookbooks so it's pretty easy for me to get my hands on these and they have it in their system. I've tried quite a few of their recipes from all their other books, and I think some of the recipes in the book are just updated versions, plus some new ones. I didn't try the Falafel yet, as I'm really enjoying the one from the Healthspan Solutions cookbook. Those cookies look grand! And I LOVE the Savory Oats - Ann has that in one of her earlier books. All in All, you can't go wrong with Jane or Ann's recipes. Although, that Senate Soup did look kind of bland to me too when I read through it. I'd probably doctor it up too. I believe all she was whip together fresh lemon juice and icing sugar - as for the amounts it depends on how much you want - I would start with a tbsp of lemon juice and add icing sugar and blend until it's the consistency you want - if it's too thick you can add more lemon juice. We always just go by feel for that sort of thing.

      Yes 100% how many times have you used a recipe and not had 100% of the perfect ingredients? Some people live in places where they don’t have everything or can’t get them. I think of a recipe as a blueprint. And I’m always transparent about it. If that bugs you I get it. But I get a lot of comments where people appreciate seeing how to do swaps and whatnot.
