    Very fun video as usual! And I definitely think it’s ok to have a “junkier” meal as a treat from time to time so I’m with the kids on this one. Tater tots all the way haha. But thanks for another great cookbook review they’re my fave

  • @lindsaytoussaint
    @lindsaytoussaint 8 месяцев назад +5

    I grew up in a household that did not use recipes, and recipe books basically didn’t exist. Dishes were just passed down by word of mouth/repetition/as you feel. So I really don’t understand folks being upset with substitutions- to me all recipes are suggestions 😂. You can keep the spirit of the dish with a few substitutions - I mean we’re vegan we should know that lol
    Anyway I’ve been meaning to look at this cookbook - I like the banana bars idea and the tater tot casserole - I’d maybe swap with hashbrown potatoes. It’s a casserole heavy dish which might be good for meal prep (I live alone).

    Hi PB&J family, this is been my favorite cookbook review you've done so far a couple of reasons:
    1. You didn't make a curry
    2. The kids seemed to like most everything!
    3. Wooly as usual, a quiet comic genius!
    4. I have been curious about this cookbook for awhile so it was good to hear about some of the recipes.
    5. You didn't change much from the actual ingredients.
    6. And I have to say, I didn't miss the recipe over the video, because I can never read it anyway, and I think people should have to go to the authors blog or the book to get it, and you know people Screen shoot it!
    So thank you!!!! This was delightful Saturday enjoying coffee watching!
    And feel free to say hi to Bonnie from Livonia, MI!!!😊

    The cornbread chili casserole is like something my mom made- She called it "Corn Pone Pie"
    You can do that with basically any stew like dish, veggie stew with cornbread on top, etc.

    I'm pretty new around here & just loved this vid & your gorgeous family. How natural u all are on camera!! 💘
    If I may please make a suggestion or request for your consideration: I would love to see you do a SUPER-DUPER FAMILY TASTE TEST OF EVERY VEGAN CHEEZ IN THE WORLD!! 💚With you and your beautiful wife as taste testers AND both kids too, even tho they prefer cow-cruelty cheese. (oops I mean dairy cheese.😉)
    Your whole team could taste block, sliced, & grated ~ on it's own, in a toastie AND on some lil mini pizzas! SO WE CAN SEE WHO ACTUALLY MELTS & who doesn't!💝 I myself tried to do one of these tests donkey's years ago & couldn't find a vegan cheez that melted all stretchy like in toasted sangers or on pizza? but there were only a few brands back then.🤷 I'd still LOVE to find a melty vegan cheez now but there are SO MANY options these days, I'd go broke (or mental) trying them all! But I will donate $5 towards costs for y'all & im sure lots of other viewers would too! (& hey if u discover a beauty that even the kids love, u might end up buying just one cheez for the whole family from then on?🎉🧀❤) Anyway, I'm loving your channel mate, GREAT JOB!🎇 PS: wifey is not choc chip thief!😇

    I'm new to you but I love recipe muckers, mostly because I am one. We called it 'cooking from the hip' when I was growing up (what do you put in? It depends-what do you like? How much? Enough. How long to cook? Till done). All recipes were treated as suggestions.
    Your daughter had a point about the tater tots-depending on how long the dish is in the oven, some people will bake the tots for a few minutes before adding to the top, it keeps them crispier, especially on the bottom. For a tot-forward version you can place them vertically. I like the home fries idea.
    I'll put leftover chili over a baked potato and it's a nice combo I wonder how home fries would work over the chili instead of cornbread? I love cornbread, but my blood sugar doesn't.
    One of my favorite additions to stir fry sauces is seasoned or plain rice vinegar, if that fits your requirements (we're not GF). It adds a depth of flavor and some spark. Another variation is some kind of citrus juice, I'll even use frozen orange juice concentrate (lazy). You get a little sweetness and depending on how much you add it gives dimension without being overtly fruity. I also prefer gochujang for heat since it has a more layered flavor.
    I hope this is taken in the spirit it's intended, I mean no offense. FWIW, I love it when people make suggestions to what I cook.
    Thank you for posting and welcoming viewers into your home.

    Love this video as always! Your cookbook reviews are my favorite, the transparency and swaps are perfect! One of the things that makes me laugh when you say it is “smash it in your face” 😂, just now sure how that would come across on a T-shirt haha. Keep up the great work!

    Idea for a more wfpb tater tot casserole: frozen hashbrowns (oil free) in place of tater tots. Have them here at grocery stores in Southern California. Not sure if you guys have it up there. Might be a good compromise between tater tots and roasted potatoes

    • @pbwithjeremy
      @pbwithjeremy  8 месяцев назад

      I haven't seem to find oil-free frozen hashbrowns here - but we can make our own by grating potatoe in a food processor

      I think we were gifted that spoon.... not sure where from.... I'll try to figure out - sorry I can't be more specific! If your kids would like a shout out let me know your names and where you are in the world - you can be generic if you don't want to give too much info away - I totally get it!

    Hey Jeremy, great video! Looks like some really delicious recipes, the cherry banana pb smoothie 😋, the tofu scramble with roasted potatoes looks good (I’m with you on the tater tots), apple nachos, choc chip banana bars, chili cornbread casserole, leek soup with chickpeas, stir fry (haha Ephraim is brutally honest!), I’d use the ramen millet/ brown rice noodles from Costco, and pasta bake. I like it all! You are all so funny! I like the humor and the kids opinions and suggestions. Nooch makes everything better! I’ll look for the book in the library and check it out. Thanks!
