I think you should do after the cookbook. What do you continue to make from the cookbook and which cookbook has every single recipe being excellent--think in terms of you could only invest in 1 cookbook which one gives the most bang for or your buck.

Great video. Very informative, especially for those new to or considering a WFPB lifestyle. The initial stocking of my pantry with items I didn’t use before was the most expensive. I use a lot more spices, vinegars, dates, nuts, seeds, etc
now. Honestly, Walmart has come a long way. I’m able to find most of what I need there, organic and many specialty items. My Walmart (not all do) even has Date Lady date syrup for less than what it is online and no shipping. I drive 40 miles to Trader Joe’s/Sprouts and Costco about once a month, to fill in.
Sorry for the lengthy comment, I’m just so excited about this lifestyle and hope more people come on board. Thanks again!

Thanks for subbing! And 100% - I'm always confused when people say plant-based is expensive. I think they mean when places over-charge for plant-based items as swaps in restaurants. Like when some coffee shops charge extra for non-dairy milk. ERG

I regularly make tomato soup and I eat this soup not only as soup but the next day, for example, as a pasta sauce. Just add some vegetables and some Italian herbs (often not even necessary because the thyme that I use in the tomato soup is tasty enough).
Tomato soup is also a good basis for many Indian recipes or Mexican recipes. Add lentils or beans and some vegetables and herbs and the tomato soup suddenly becomes a completely different recipe.
Oh yes, and at the end of the week you can often make a delicious vegetable dish from all the leftover vegetables.
    Greetings from the Netherlands

Tennessee Polish auntie's favorite leftovers: chop up leftover bits and bobs, mix them with some spices and chickpea flour (and a little rice flour for crispness if you have it). Add a little liquid as needed to form patties, or more for pancake batter and fry them up. Serve with gravy, chutney, or sauce of choice. A good save for recipe fails.

Hello from Joplin Missouri! I love watching your videos. Your family is so charming. I am gluten free like your wife so seeing how you modify recipes to make them gluten free is very helpful.
I have always been very bad at meal planning, but recently I have been copying you by picking a cookbook and cooking from it for a week. This makes it like a game. So, thank you!!!
Someone already said this, but having your groceries delivered/pick-up saves me so much money! Even with delivery fees, I would have spent much more if I went into the store (and bought unhealthy splurges).

International grocery stores are great! Spice prices there are the bomb. Even at a regular grocery store, you should check the "Latin Section" for spices. At my old grocery, the normal spices were in the $3-15 range. In the Latin Section, they were $.88-5. Grains were much cheaper in the Latin or Middle Eastern Sections. Absolutely worth looking around at various options, even at your normal store. My Korean market has a ton of unusual veg I can't find anywhere else.

Vancouver so always interested in prices. Couscous is pasta, not a grain. Salvation Army/ thrift, Craigslist, etc is what I use for appliances vs buying new. I try to find the "about to go off" section because I hate waste. Being in Vancouver and not needing a car, it can get time consuming but going to different stores and buying what's on sale through the week and then making meals around that are my jam. I still write things down so I don't go off the rails but it usually works out.

When I went completely plant based my grocery budget for the month went from $400 to $250.00. I am single and usually eat leftovers from the night before for lunch. I almost always make enough for several meals and freeze them in portion size bags. I also buy for the month at 1 trip then I can buy larger quantities which almost always cost less. Fresh veggies from my local farm are a weekly purchase. This month I plan to have around $40

My favorite food stores are Costco and Trader Joe’s, and then Stop and Shop or ShopRite for items not found in my top 2 stores. I have a Vitamix and a cuisinart but I don’t have an instant pot. What size do you recommend? I also like to batch cook and freeze soups and stews. My crock pot is 6 quarts and I wish I had an 8 quart. Do you have an instant pot demonstration video? I don’t know how to use one and am a bit intimidated by the pressure cooker release aspect. Lots of good tips here! Thanks!

My pleasure! Instant Pot seems to have gone bankrupt as a company (I think because they tried to make other products and they didn't work as well - IP is SOLID) so if you're going to get one I'd do it soon - I highly recommend. They're REALLY easy to use - seriously. Lots of information on the web. And in the videos where I use it I explain how. There are other pressure cookers on the market too.
Sadly we don't have Trader Joe's in Canada, but whenever I'm stateside I stock up!!!

I would like to see some recipes tested from Beat Cancer Kitchen. I am fortunate to live near some farms, we get bananas for $2 a kilo (Aus)and imperfect avocados 4 for $2, pumpkin $3 each. 1/4 cup raw cacao powder

Stir all ingredients together, cover and refrigerate overnight - it gets very thick and has an ice cream texture... I like to top it with hemp seeds and banana or berries

I love my instant pot too but I’m having issues with it and it’s only a few months old. I tried to do a delayed start for oat groats, so it would be ready in the morning. I have looked at the directions and I have looked on RUclips and I do not think my delay button works. I have the instant pot duo Pro. I believe it has the whisper quiet steam cover on the top & a dial knob button from for selecting & time, and a button that says delay. When I try to go through the steps and press delay, the light doesn’t light up, and nothing happens with the clock. When I press and hold the cancel button, all the lights shine up on the front of the pot including the delay button, so there is a light that works on the delay button, that’s it. Anyone else have trouble with this feature?

Here in the US, those of us who focused on plant based eating didn’t suffer the degree of sticker shock when our inflation sky rocketed because it was the processed food that took the hit. A $3 bag of green went up 25 cents. A$3 load of bread went up $1.50. And cookies and chips? That was just too sad to talk about.

I don't see the need for PB recipe books.. any recipe is easy to modify.. I often used to swap mince beef for bell peppers & mushrooms, etc. The more highly flavoured the sauce, the less significant is the "meat".. as per the cuisines of the poor.
