Does this freeze well? This looks a lot for one person. How many servings does this recipe make? Where would you consider a good resource for the mushrooms? Thank you....thinking of going plant-based
I tried this recipe today- Mother’s Day Dinner and it came out great. I substituted sunflower seeds for the walnuts. Served it up with roasted turnips, beets and sweet potatoes. Delicious. Your recipes are giving me the encouragement to go full vegan. Thank you for simple, easy to follow instructions and delicious foods.
Thank you. I always need a tree nut substitute due to allergies and I'm just dipping into changing my eating so I didn't know what to use. Appreciate this!!!
Tried this recipe last night and was very impressed. You wouldn't know it had any meat at all. I followed the recipe as close as possible and added a few of my own seasonings. Also, I soaked my walnuts the night before to soften then up. Highly recommend and will definitely be a part of my cooking moving forward.
I stop eating meat and transitioned to eating plant-based foods. I must admit, when I stop eating meat, my body went through withdrawals and I become sick--after a few weeks of just eating plant-based foods, I started to see a difference in my body and skin.
I think that’s a major issue that people do not discuss enough! The transition should be done gradually. In my personal experiences it gives the body time to adjust and also gives you time to learn about a completely new diet to make sure you’re getting the right nutrients!
This is SOOOO much better than the “Impossible” & “Beyond” crap I was eating. Idk wtf is in that stuff. You made this foolproof (& you’re gorgeous-so that helps 😂) ❤
If only all cooking videos were this good. It’s not easy for vegans/vegetarians to find good recipes for meat alternatives. I’m really glad I found your channel. Liked and subscribed, with thanks from across the pond ❤️🇬🇧
This is a keeper. There is so much room to play with this...customizing the spices to make it more chilli or taco flavoured...adding salsa, buffalo sauce, mashed beans.....Love that the base is so healthy and nourrishing. Thank you!! Worked awesome in a tortilla with a little vegan cheese and salsa verde!
You are right. Beans would probably thicking it up more. I can then just make some oatmeal tortilla wraps I saw online and just eat it like a borito; since I saw a recipe with some organic vegan cheese.
I prepared this last night and it’s pretty good. I have been consuming beyond meat products since going plant base in 2016 and knew it wasn’t healthy but it was good. I recently in the last month stopped consuming it and was looking for a healthier alternatives when I came across your IG page. Thanks for sharing your recipes ❤
you're such an excellent cook and teacher and you're so generous sharing your knowledge, and I know comes from such a sincere caring place so thanks and gratitude!
@@SusieLybarger I've always found that freezer bags let in too much "freezer bite" and ice, so I use glass pint-size canning jars. I guess it depends on how long you're going to store the food item.
OK I made the recipe and it is a keeper. I soaked the walnuts as suggested. To get the best consistency and texture I highly recommend using a food processor or Cuisinart. It’s hard to describe the taste of all the flavors but they blended together nicely. The texture is consistent with ground beef and at first take it kind of looks like ground beef. I was making tacos and was tempted to put shredded cheese on it but said nah, that defeats my purpose so I just ate it plain on corn tortillas. It had cooled down and I thought it needed to be heated up but that wasn’t the case. Tasted fine slightly warm. Because the taste is versatile I can see using it in a variety of dishes.
I so appreciate that this does not have beans in it. As a vegetarian for the past 8 months i love beans but sometimes I want a different flavor. Love all these ingredients ♥️
@@heidibrummett3499 You want more protein? You need to incorporate maybe some into your side dishes than. For instance if you are having tacos you can make beans and rice as your side for more protein, if you are making Lasagna or spaghetti you can make a salad with spinach and chick peas to serve on the side( both have protein) , burgers serve with veggies and hummus , get creative, you can figure it out. 😊
Let me tell you something, sir. I'm not even religious, but I declare you are doing the Lord's work! I just made this, and it is A-MAY-ZING. I made it in preparation for your meatball gyro recipe, and I had to MAKE myself stop eating it so I can have some left for the gyros. It's THAT good.I am approaching vegan life as a complete newbie. I had been looking for recipes and came across your channel. SUBSCRIBED without hesitation! Oh, and yes, I followed the advice of some of the other commenters, and soaked the walnuts first (I soaked them overnight). Also, I made a small error in technique. I added everything to the pan at the same time, including the walnut mixture. I forgot it was supposed to be added later in the process. Turned out perfectly anyway. Actually, I think it's easier getting everything mixed together doing it that way. Looking forward to making those gyros and other vegan masterpieces!
Thank you so much! I made your Veggie Ground and used it to make your No-Beef Patties. It was absolutely delicious! As a plant based eater for three years, I was getting discouraged. I missed the foods I used to love and my cooking is very dull. I don’t know what seasonings work well together. Although I only eat foods with clean ingredients, I couldn’t separate myself from using olive, avocado and coconut oil. I thank God He directed me to your channel. As a subscriber I look forward to watching your videos and making your dishes. I now ceased using all oils. Thank you for caring about our health and showing us that plant base eating is exciting. I greatly appreciate what you do!
This is such a beautiful message ... the type that give me such a sense of purpose regarding sharing my recipes. So, thank YOU so much for taking time to share this!!!
I've been plant based for 12 years and have tried many different "meat" replacement recipes as well as buying store products which usually have way too much oil added to them. I just tried your recipe last night and I'm so pleased with the results. Not only does it have ingredients that I can feel good about, but the texture and flavor are great. The final test was if my husband would eat it....and he loved it. In fact he's in the kitchen making himself a burrito out of it right now. Thank you so much! I just got a mushroom growing kit, so I'm excited to try your "mushroom wings" next.
New follower/fan. Made this last night and it is a-m-a-z-i-n-g! I kept testing it as it cooked and I was worried that the spices were too much for me and I might need to cut them back in the future. But when you mix in the tomato paste and walnuts: MAGIC! I love it! I made tacos with it last night and again for breakfast this morning, it's that good. I've got so many ideas...Thank you for your great instructions and demos. No wonder it's getting noticed!
I just made my first batch also. Half is for tacos tonight, and the other half I seasoned up for breakfast sausage to go with some oat waffles. I make a fake queso out of cashews that fooled my teenage son.

I just made some, but I could only find a small head of cauliflower, at the second store I went to, so I cut the recipe in half. Smell delicious and a sample taste so GOOD. I'm going to try it with tacos. Thanks once again.
I just made this. Your spice mixture is fantastic and gives it a beefy ground meat flavor. I ate some raw since that is usually what I prefer. Delicious as is. However, tomorrow I will cook some to see the difference. Thank you so much for your wonderful recipes.
I’ve made something similar but this looks even better. My husband loves the meat substitutes but I don’t because I just prefer legumes and whole foods so this seems like a great compromise and the fact that we can freeze it too is just the icing on the cake. THANK YOU!!!
Made this recipe with a few adjustments such as swapping out the cauliflower for red cabbage, and I must say I absolutely loved the outcome. I would definitely encourage others to try this recipe. Thanks for sharing
I freeze mine into portions. I made a tomato based veg soup (V8 juice)…day 3 I added yr veggie ground round to it and it became a delicious stew! Thanks again for this amazing recipe.
This recipe is absolutely divine. Thank you so much for coming up with it. I have been trying to incorporate more vegetables into my diet and this absolutely fills the bill. I even mistakenly added the walnut paste at the same time as the vegetables were cooking. Whoops! 🤦🏻♀️. Wasn’t paying attention to the recipe instructions but it still turned out just fine. Will do it right next time. Can’t wait to try your carrot cake recipe next. 🤗. PS: I soaked the walnuts overnight as suggested by one of the other comments
On a low FODMAP diet so I substituted: broccoli heads for cauliflower, leek tops for onions, didn’t have oyster mushrooms(can’t have the other ones) so I omitted the mushroom, added a little vegan Worcestershire sauce, and low FODMAP stock cube to replace the garlic. Still good!

This was sooooooo good! I made a batch last night and threw together some taco seasoning (my own concoction) and had tacos with some vegan sour cream and vegan cheese sauce…..again, homemade. Actually, I’m remembering now that it was your recipe on IG, the one with the roasted jalapeños. So good! Anyway, tacos were delicious. Interestingly, I only had two tacos but my the amount of my recipe of “ground meat” seemingly disappeared in the pan. This recipe makes a lot! I found out as I was putting things away that my carnivore husband ate the majority of it! He loved it. Well, I made another batch today, along with your Rustic Bread (delicious!) Tonight I made Shepherds Pie with it. So good! This is such a versatile recipe, just as you say in this video. Thanks again for sharing and inspiration.

Javant, so glad I found this recipe and your channel! I added some organic smoked paprika to this. Awesome! I plan to modify the herbs and spices according to the ways that I cook whether it's Asian, Italian, Middle Eastern, Jamaican, etc. Also love that you don't go crazy using oils, sugar and processed white wheat flour. I've been eating plant based since June 2020 while taking care of my brother after he had a heart attack and quadruple bypass surgery. We both went plant based cold turkey. Before a year passed, he went back to work and exercises everyday, which he did not do previously. The doctor said that lack of exercise is on the same level as smoking cigarettes! Keep up the great work. Be blessed!💗

I love this man. I just finished making this without a food processor; I instead used my Ninja Auto IQ smoothie machine. I needed to do batches of veggies. It tastes so fresh. I will add Worcestershire for burgers, taco seasoning for tacos and more Italian for meatballs and meatloaf at the time when I cook each. I made three pounds at a total cost of $13.00. The same amount of unhealthy beef would have cost me over $20.00. I just made tacos by adding water and taco seasoning and wanted to update. It tasted great! Also, that price is deceiving because one pound of this veggie ground makes at least twice as much as one pound of beef would. Winner. I used my 12" cast iron skillet in two batches then threw it all in my large enameled cast iron pot with lid on to sit for 20 minutes to marinade. Wonderful recipe!
Thanks for the taco idea. I will surely try it! I also don't have a food processor that is full size, so I made it with my little mini food processor and it took awhile, but it was well worth it! And I soaked my walnuts, too. I have been getting lots of fresh zucchini and spaghetti squash from my garden and I have been serving it with the veggie ground and drizzling it with a bit of hemp/cashew cream and it's been so good!
This looks so delicious I’m 65 and I have never tried to eat vegan yet but right now your recipe has my mouth watering 😊I’m so looking forward to trying my first vegan foods now Thank you so much for sharing this ❤

Thank you for sharing your recipes. I tried the veggie ground and I really enjoyed it. Since it made such a large amount I froze portions of it to use later and it tasted just a good after thawing. I'm glad to have a healthy option for recipes calling for ground "meat".
Discovering a good recipe for burgers, cottage pie, bolognese, etc is a game changer. In Tesco in the U.K. you can get cans of mixed cannellini, flageolet and aduki beans in water, marketed as a 3 bean salad. A can of this bean mix and ground walnuts and a slice of home made wholegrain bread, course grated carrot and chopped red onion is my base for vegan burgers. Grated celeriac works well too. A bit of tomato purée and some red miso paste and some chick pea flour helps to bind it.

Thank you. I always need a tree nut substitute due to allergies and I'm just dipping into changing my eating so I didn't know what to use. Appreciate this!!!
thanks for bringing up sunflower seeds

What seasonings did u use?
@@tashad2201 You’re welcome. We all need to encourage each other on this new health journey.
Nice!
GREAT recipe! I actually boiled the walnuts for about five minutes after reading an earlier comment and it turned out perfectly. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! 👌🏾
Me too
Roasting the walnuts a little greatly enhances their walnut flavor.
I stop eating meat and transitioned to eating plant-based foods. I must admit, when I stop eating meat, my body went through withdrawals and I become sick--after a few weeks of just eating plant-based foods, I started to see a difference in my body and skin.
Same 😊
I think that’s a major issue that people do not discuss enough! The transition should be done gradually. In my personal experiences it gives the body time to adjust and also gives you time to learn about a completely new diet to make sure you’re getting the right nutrients!
Finally someone who uses REAL FOOD thru the whole recipe. Can’t wait to try this. Thank you it looks absolutely deeeelicious!♥️
Thank you! Hope you enjoy
I absolutely love this recipe!
This is SOOOO much better than the “Impossible” & “Beyond” crap I was eating. Idk wtf is in that stuff. You made this foolproof (& you’re gorgeous-so that helps 😂) ❤
Thank you 🙏🏾 I like your message!
AMEN!!!! This is truly vegan. That meat ain't really plant based.
If this legit tastes and feels at least as good as the beyond I’m completely in.
And you get so emotional over your food. 😍
He is rather easy on the eye.....😅
My wife made this today. We love it. Best meat substitute I have had so far, plus no oil total win. Thank you for sharing this 😊.
Thank you for making the recipe! 🙏🏾
Why do you prefer no oil. I thought natural oils (olive, grapeseed, coconut, avocado) are good for us?
No beans or peas involved!

Made shepherds pie using your recipe and was amazing! Having tacos with it tonight. Thank you so much!
Nice! I love using it for Shepherd's Pie myself, thanks for appreciating.
Oh, great idea! That’s my dinner tonight!
If only all cooking videos were this good. It’s not easy for vegans/vegetarians to find good recipes for meat alternatives. I’m really glad I found your channel. Liked and subscribed, with thanks from across the pond ❤️🇬🇧
Thank you for sharing you appreciation and subscribing!🙏🏾
This is a keeper. There is so much room to play with this...customizing the spices to make it more chilli or taco flavoured...adding salsa, buffalo sauce, mashed beans.....Love that the base is so healthy and nourrishing. Thank you!! Worked awesome in a tortilla with a little vegan cheese and salsa verde!
Nice! Thank you for appreciating!

Wow! Newly vegan here. My husband, who is the pickiest grown man ever, and I both LOVED this!!! Thank you so much!
Love it! You' so welcome!
It is absolutely delicious! And it freezes well ❤
Yes! Thanks for sharing your positivity!
"it freezes well". That's good to know; thanks.
That's the answer to my question, thank you.
What type of container do you freeze this in? I’m thinking a freezer bag but not sure how that’ll work
@@SusieLybarger I've always found that freezer bags let in too much "freezer bite" and ice, so I use glass pint-size canning jars.
Wow thank you. Love the detailed explanations of how and why you process different vegetables at different time
🙏🏾
I so appreciate that this does not have beans in it. As a vegetarian for the past 8 months i love beans but sometimes I want a different flavor. Love all these ingredients ♥️
Glad you like the recipe :)
@@healthyveganeating yes! I can’t wait to try it! Looks delicious!!
So what about protein? If this is the base of your meals, how do you get enough? ( protein)
Agree
The instructions you give in your videos are top notch. Clear. Understandable. Love watching!
I appreciate that!
My pleasure! You are truly a blessing. I pray all of God’s best for you!!!
What is wrong with using olive , avocado & coconut oil? I thought these oils are the good ones.
I love this message! I really get excited when we convert a husband together. So glad you all like it. Let me know how the wings go.
I love this message!! The veggie ground is so versatile and the recipe makes a lot, so you are able to create lots of dishes with one batch. Glad you are enjoying it! Thanks so much for watching, appreciating, and subscribing!!
I think next time I'll use half, throw in red pepper flakes and fennel seed to create a kind of Italian sausage, too!@@gabec2494

I just made some, but I could only find a small head of cauliflower, at the second store I went to, so I cut the recipe in half. Smell delicious and a sample taste so GOOD. I'm going to try it with tacos. Thanks once again.
Nice! Good idea halfing the recipe :)
I just made this. Your spice mixture is fantastic and gives it a beefy ground meat flavor. I ate some raw since that is usually what I prefer. Delicious as is. However, tomorrow I will cook some to see the difference. Thank you so much for your wonderful recipes.
Love that you experimented. Glad you like it!
I’ve made something similar but this looks even better. My husband loves the meat substitutes but I don’t because I just prefer legumes and whole foods so this seems like a great compromise and the fact that we can freeze it too is just the icing on the cake. THANK YOU!!!
My pleasure! Try this one for your husband, I have had many wives say that their husbands love it :)
Made this recipe with a few adjustments such as swapping out the cauliflower for red cabbage, and I must say I absolutely loved the outcome. I would definitely encourage others to try this recipe. Thanks for sharing

Very good recipe. I feel like I will add quinoa for more protein and bulk. 😊 very easy to make and very good
Good idea. I love quinoa :)
How much quinoa do you recommend adding?
I also thought of adding quinoa to it you know to give it more protein.

I nlove your recipes especially this one. I did half pecans and walnuts andsoaked them in warm water. The Best. Thank you again
Great idea!
I LOVE this message! Way to go! 👌🏾 And, I love you right back! 🙂
