Instead of using water I used plant based milk and it came out really creamy and sliceable. I think it will melt also. 🎉
Sounds great!
What type of plant-based milk did you use?
@@janiehill4256 unsweetened almond milk and want to try oat milk next time.
@@cookingprincess327 how did the melting go??

@@healthyveganeating thank you very much. That is a nice receipe !

This is insanely good. I added onion powder and dried dill for a dill havarti sort of thing and it’s incredibly good. We are making veggie subs with it tonight!
I love that!!! 👌🏾
Onion and dill for the win! Thank you!
It is endlessly modifiable, from adding aromatics and herbs/spices, to added veggies like finely diced peppers, pepper flakes, sun dried tomato, olives, truffles or rehydrated dried mushrooms, etc.. I love blending in a bit of miso paste, roasted red pepper and a dash of liquid smoke!
You are quickly becoming my go to guy for my recipes, thanks for the healthy options for us foodies, we appreciate you, bless up!
Thank you 🙏🏾
Made the cheese last night. It actually came out delicious. I couldn’t believe it! It tastes like American cheese, and yes, it melted.
So glad you tried and liked it!
Ok where do you get the agar and nutritional yeast
I just LOVE your videos. No nonsense, yu cut right to the chase without all the fluff! No one wants to watch an hour video that tells yu how to make vegan cheese!🥰Thnx so much!
Glad you like them!
I used to love cheeses before I became vegan, and I've tried the substitutes on the market, but I wasn't too thrilled about the ingredient list. I discovered you yesterday, and I'm so excited to try this and all the other amazing easy to follow healthy vegan recipes. We need a Cookbook! Please?!!! You're the best! Thank you very much.👍👏👏👏😊

I'm here for it all sir. First of all, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. This is so cool. Beautiful!
Can you please send a link where you got the cheese molds or are they just a flexible container made of??
I'm going to make it this weekend! Thanks again for another healthy recipe!
Two things I check before making a recipe are the written ingredients and directions (ridiculously easy in this case), and comments from people who have actually made the recipe. All very positive!
I just need to buy a couple of silicone molds and hope my local health food stores have agar.
Great, enjoy!
I didn't have lemons, so I added lime juice instead, and it came out great! I second the idea of replacing the water with plant milk. So creamy and delightful! Thanks for the wonderful recipe! New subscriber!😃

IWhen I can't get agar I like to use oat and chickpea flour as thickeners. I add boiling water directly into all ingredients in my heat rated blender and run for a few minutes until the motor slows a bit, at which point I refrigerate to set. (Or else just cook on the stove if your blender isn't rated). It won't set as firm as using agar, but more like the texture of brie or camembert.

I have made this before. Its really tasty. You may also add yellow or red bell peppers for additional flavour and colour: I also add some onion to mine. You may omit the arrow root powder and end up with a thinner version as a cashew sauce.

Can even add turmeric to make it “sharp cheddar”. I love this! I was just in the store and examined the vegan cheese options and immediately put all of them back. Too many additives. I’m excited!
Yes you can!
Tumeric also gives it more of that cheddar colour.😀

Just ordered the agar and I'll look for that arrowroot tomorrow. Looking forward to this. I thought all vegan cheeses were made with oil (and therefore high in sat fats) so this is a welcome surprise. Thanks !!

I would love to see a healthy butter substitute too. 😊
An….oil free butter? Big ask!
Brittany Jaroudi makes a yellow split pea one
Me too. I love butter on toast in the mornings, but the reality is, there really is no healthy butter out there.
I cannot go near animal dairy and absolutely love the cheese recipe. I don't have any problems with oil so found and loved Becel's Plant Based Butter at our local grocery store. I like their margarine and their butter substitute tastes just as I remembered butter used to taste like, and its much healthier. It can be purchased with or without salt. Hope this info helps.
@@alicias312 I buy Becel Plant Based Butter. Its amazing!
You are truly a blessing.
Thank you 🙂
Oh my goodness! I just made this and it tastes sooo good! Thank you for this amazing recipe! I can't wait to use other seasonings!

I will be starting my journey as a vegan soon, and cheese is the only thing that's really hurting me to let go. Thank you for this video. ❤
You're so welcome!
You are the BOMB you know that? Thank you. I have been looking for a healthy alternative to cheese because I love cheese and that is one thing I have truly missed when I gave up dairy, and admittedly, sometimes I have cheated just to enjoy the flavor again. I cannot wait to give this recipe a try. Thank you again! ❤😊
I think this is true for all of us going plant based, and there is a very legit reason. Milk contains casomorphins... an opioid peptide derived from the digestion of the milk protein casein, that acts on the same receptors as any other opioid like morphine, heroin, oxycodone, hydrocodone, codeine etc. It's theorized that this insures that the infant is enticed and rewarded for feeding on it's mothers milk to insure survival and growth. Since cheese is at least 10X as concentrated as milk, it's so hard to give up because it is quite literally addictive!
@@CharGC123 Wow I was just going to mention this! Dr. Neal Barnard talks a lot about it!
@@bryant475 For me it was very motivating to know it wasn't just my own psychological cravings and "weakness" that was sabotaging my efforts, but an inherent biological dependence that needed to be fought, overcome, then avoided, like any addiction. Having tasty, healthy replacements is crucial to winning the fight.
@@CharGC123 Yes very true, the good news is once the cheese loving gut bacteria die off, cravings are gone! Same with other foods :)
@@bryant475 Yep, and making the healthy effort to change what we put in our bodies changes what our microbiome asks for! Hard to believe how much I now enjoy foods I used to think were unappealing or bland, and conversely how disgusting a greasy donut or fried anything tastes to me now!
Wow!!! Look amazing!!!
I am so excited to try this that I could cry. Thank you so much. If I can get my son's to eat this instead, you truly are my hero.
Hope you all enjoy!
The more I review your videos, the more I think about becoming a vegan healthy
Nice! 👌🏾
Oh my you have just made my day. Cheese has been one of the biggest things I have missed. I am so trying this out this weekend. Do you think I could add a little bit of jalapeno or crushed red pepper flakes to make it kind of like a pepper jack cheese?
Absolutely! 👌🏾
So glad I found your channel! Love your recipes.
Welcome!! I’m glad you are liking them👌🏾
Using agar powder is so smart, I've only ever seen it in jellies and jam but using it for cheese makes so much sense.
Yes, it's about finding the right ratio to make it solid but not like jello 😉
Nice one, cashews are known to be somewhat toxic so they are usually always treated/heated or processed in some way cause raw is toxic. I would use macadamia nuts instead. Thanks for this, Wanted to make vegan gluten free pizza but those supermarket fake vegan cheeses are terrible full of artificial ingredients and chemicals.
Is it safe to eat raw cashews?
Truly raw cashews are not safe to eat, as they contain a substance known as urushiol, found in poison ivy. Urushiol is toxic, and contact with it can trigger a skin reaction in some people. Cashew kernels are often sold as “raw” in stores, but these have been steamed. This removes the toxins.
Nice recipe man
Can you do a vegan cheese with sunflower seed?
It would be amazing to see how you come up with 🔥
You can sub sunflower seeds for the cashews. They should be soaked overnight and you do need to blend them very well or your cheese will be gritty. Be forewarned that the colour isn't great. A little turmeric and yellow mustard can improve the colour. 😊
Great suggestion!
I l❤️ve, LOVE, ❤️ all your recipes, I am going to make this & the healthy Vegan ground meat substitute today. I can't wait, thank you for sharing and thank you for the written ingredients 😃

I’m looking forward to making this soon. Thank you for sharing
You’re welcome!
I just made this and waiting to firm up. Can you create a butter recipe with no oil, that would be awesome!
The closest I've come to an oil free butter sub is dry- blending a scant 1/2 cup of corn meal and 1 heaping TBS of cashews or hemp hearts into a powder, (you can also add a dash of garlic and/or onion powder, and turmeric for color) and if you have a heat safe blender, then add 2 cups of boiling salted water directly into the powder and blend on high for 3-4 minutes. (If you don't have a heat proof blender you can just blend the ingredients thoroughly then cook on the stovetop until it boils and thickens.) Pour into a 3 cup container and once it cools to body temp add a few TBS of plain plant based yogurt or a tiny bit (1/4 tsp) of cider vinegar, mix well and refrigerate. It thickens to a spread when cold that's a decent healthy oil free stand in for butter.
Hadn’t thought about that 🤔
Looks beautiful. Maybe a silly question, but could you activate the agar and arrowroot together? Then add to the blender together?
A little mustard and/or smoked paprika can add levels of flavor.
That’s a great question. Hope he answers it 😊

@@CharGC123 Never heard if that, very interesting. Thanks for sharing that tip!
@@sarahdee374 Just be careful adding hot liquids to the blender, it needs to vent the hot steam or it can blow off the lid and cause burns.
