An idea for another ranking exercise: Elton’s lead singles from all his albums. You might think about doing two lists (UK and US) because single releases and sequences of those releases vary between the two entities. Another thought: rank his singles not associated with any album (at least upon initial release). Think Lucy In The Sky, Philly Freedom, DGBMH, Ego, etc. Thanks for the videos and the continuing conversation about Elton and his vast catalog. You do a great job!

Listen to Sara Bareilles - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, in particular the Atlanta one. Also, it's not a cover, but for something I did - search for "Just an Ordinary Man" (original speed) | Elton John ("Jewel Box" Demo - FANEDIT) on youtube, and you'll find Elton's original, on top of which I've added other instruments, in order to create something of a band demo. It's on my other RUclips account. Was tough to do, but quite pleased with it - please give it a listen. There's also a slightly faster version on the same channel. I did a load of these, for other demo's on Jewel Box. (Dirk is another name I go by online, using two of my middle names, that other channel uses my forename and surname).

Songs I'd like to hear him do - Just an Ordinary Man (Jewel Box), and Empty Sky. I'm a little hopeful he might do something interesting for the last ever US show that's being streamed live on Disney Plus in November, and add a few extra tracks, like he did at his 60th Birthday, but I've got this nasty feeling it's just going to be the set list as it has been over the last few years, including his Karaoke Cold Heart performance.

Jerred Price has some nice renditions here on RUclips, unfortunately he has taken some of his better ones down.

Yes John The Who did record Pinball Wizard so it is a cover by Elton which also went #1 around the world. The placing on the charts for Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is why I put that comment in because it even bettered the Beatles original placing. I appreciate you don’t really like either version but credit where credit’s due.
And Heather is Heather Headley who appeared in Aida.

"Pinball Wizard" didn't go #1 around the world. It only charted in three territories, and in none of those territories did he get to #1. The closest he got was in the UK, where it reached #7. It's possible it may have gone to #1 in the US, but it wasn't commercially available as a single. It was only released to radio.

@@robdaviesprogm you’re correct that it didn’t reach #1 Rob. My mistake. Thanks for fact checking me.
