Actually John, this is a lot more creative than a standard remix or reworking of a whole song. If you want to hear that though, a complete song rework, head to the Sherlock Gnomes soundtrack for those two tracks I mentioned below. (Also has The One on there, and Don't Go Breaking My Heart - but I don't recommend giving those two a listen!!)

I loved the album. Pity we didn't see you rate them individually. Good Morning to the Night is one I'm not all that keen on, the track. Sad, Foreign Fields, Telegraph to the Afterlife, and Karmatron are great. Sixty quite a nice one. You would be better off thinking of these as new songs, not as mix ups. They dared John because Elton asked them to, and specifically asked them to build new songs from the original mix tapes! Now, if you also stream music, youtube music, spotify, or otherwise - take a look at Boogie Pilgrim and Philadelphia Freedom on the Sherlock Gnomes soundtrack. Other than that I strongly disagree with your overall score - you need to view it through a different set of lenses.

I suggest you take a listen - the title track isn't particularly great, but the rest are really lovely, in all kinds of interesting ways. Will take you 28 mins - go on, I dare ya!!

I back the suggestion. There are some nice tracks in there.

I love this album. It's one of those I'm often giving a spin. I remember that at the time they said there would be a Volume 2, with songs from the 1980's. Unfortunately, it never came out. Sixty is my favorite track on this one, I always thought it would make a great show opener. Imagine the lights dimming, and this song coming out on the speakers, with some sparkling video accompanying it. In the end, spotlight on Elton playing some killer piano solo to kickstart the show.

Did you catch those two extra tracks that they did, that were added to the Sherlock Gnomes Soundtrack - Philadelpia and Boogie Pilgrim - really good!

@@napchier yes, I did. As far as I remember, they're nice songs, but they felt more like tradicional remixes than new tapestry-like songs, as those on Good Morning to the Night were. I'll give them a fresh listen tomorrow.

@ Yeah, they are more of the rework John was hoping for. I don't think there are other moments in those two, from other songs.

They have actually done the 80s with some late 70s thrown in but it hasn’t been given the go ahead for release yet.

@@Scooterboi60 really? interesting news! where did it come from?

Hi John, thank you for giving it a go.
As I explained a while ago to you this album was not a remix. Pnau took elements of different tracks and put them together to make whole new songs which is a technique no one else has done before and to the best of my knowledge has not been done since.
Contrary to one report, the promotion for the album stated there were no additional instrumentation or vocal added which is what a remix would include. Every sound on each track are sounds from each original song used in each track.
That is what is unique and so brilliant about the album.
But I guess at least you gave it a go and I thank you for calling yourself a purist.
Personally I love the originals as well but how these tracks have been done to me proves the genius of Elton that excerpts of different genres can be merged into completely new songs like nothing else before or since.
You would need to be really in tune with each song used in each track to know where the different parts are used and that again was part of the challenge offered to purists when the album was being promoted.

Oh, and in the interests of hearing a rework of one of your 10/10 Elton songs, search for this trailer on youtube - "antman and wasp quantumania trailer" - in which a particular song rework features quite heavily, with Elton's voice - light intro in the beginning, but then they rev it up.
