Thanks doe review. An average album of covers - Credit to Elton taking risks with new/ emerging artists. Not a patch on Two Rooms album from early 1990s.

Thank you for another great video John, still watching as i type - wondered if you had heard Jeff Buckley's version of We All Fall In Love Sometimes?

This had escaped me, so thank you. Just checking out that live album now - the source of Hallelujah as well. I will be adding this to my covers spreadsheet. Fine cover version.

Thanks for the review. Agree that Restoration is the superior effort. I do like Coldplay's version of "We All Fall in Love Sometimes" - although I may prefer Jeff Buckley's version. Nice shoutout to Ray Charles' version of "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word" - I think Joe Cocker's take is also excellent. But for my money the best cover of an Elton song is Sara Bereilles' "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road". It's mesmerizing. Brandi Carlile also does a very nice turn on "Madman Across The Water".

Thanks. These are all on my list for reviewing. I don't know the Joe Cocker one, but I have heard Sara Bereilles' live version of Goodbye. Can Coldplay's be bettered though??

@@eltonmusicfan Orchestration on Coldplay's version is fantastic but Chris Martin's vocals have always left me a a bit "cold" (pardon the pun) - less whiney on this track than usual though. Interesting note about Ray Charles' duet with
Elton on "Sorry" - it was the last vocal he ever recorded.

I agree about Coldplay version. It's great! It's also the only cover on the album I actually care for.

Thanks. I could have been more critical of some of them.

It's been years since I last heard anything off this album. I remember there are some nice songs but overall I liked Restoration best.

Agreed. It is a riskier set and many of the risks pay off.

John, have you ever listened to the album Two Rooms as you've made some errors in your comments? In the above video you say (1) Ru Paul does a cover of Don't Go Breaking My Heart on Two Rooms, that track does not appear on Two Rooms. I believe the only version Ru Paul did was the duet with Elton, which is on Duets. Also in response to comments below you said (2) "At least it has the track Two Rooms on it"; as was pointed out it doesn't and (3) in response to a comment on Joe Cocker's version of Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word you said "I don't know the Joe Cocker one.".... that track is on the Two Rooms album. You seem a little confused about what is and is not on Two Rooms!

Apologies, Nigel. It's a while since I've put Two Rooms on and clearly need to update my knowledge of it. I will be doing a follow-up video to this one and make some corrections. Thanks for watching!

All this sort of thing continues to be very "meh!" to me. Well, I suppose we had "We All Fall in Love Sometimes," at least one deep cut. I've only heard about 30 seconds of each track since it came out. Well, you've got Two Rooms to review next - which truly is, ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL!! Two Rooms was such a horrible listening experience that it always comes racing to the surface when I hear Elton covers anywhere else. Like some weird sort of PTSD 🤣

Two Rooms is on the list. At least it has the track Two Rooms on it!

@@eltonmusicfan It doesn't John, just uses that track name as an album title, something you can talk about, the title making reference to their writing style (they're all EJ/BT songs at any rate).
