Thanks buddy, good to see you back on the tube! E92’s good, got some e46 adjustable camber tops working on there and I’m in the process of editing my video of my 4th drift night at QR and got monetized finally, expecting my first pay next month!
Something that helped me with the car stalling when coming to an idle, was the “minimum RPM value” setting. My car was idling at 1150 and Min rpm value set at 1050. It would stall everytime I’d come to a stop. Moved minimum RPM value up to 1300 and that finally kept the car from stalling when coming to a complete stop.
Glad it helped you out. The lamiks are a brilliant controller. But they need to be setup properly and unfortunately i feel a lot of people do not bother.
This is mainly focues on the tq calc setup for the lamik or really any transmission controller. I will have a much more specific video on the RX7 once its all finished.

13b be less than half as rotary is aids. IMO its less than ideal for an 8hp, never going to be able to get on transbrake etc. Yeah i guess you can launch via clutches but the rpm that would be needed on a 13b will snap shiz for fun.
watch with how sharp you make the changes on the RX7. Its so short wheelbase a sharp shift will spit that bitch sideways haha. i love my 8hp in my FD but i had to be AWD because its fecking dangerous with decent power. Has the same wheelbase as a corsa B haha

@@ZeroTo60Tube 🤣spot on! One of these days I’ll get one. The main reason I had not yet is because I didn’t know how to make it work without a can bus system from the engine side. But thanks to your video’s I can do it now with the lamik controller! This is going to be awesome to do one of these days
Firstly ensure p1 is smooth at the rpm range p2 is using. If it is then change the time up and time down. P2 is sports mode and should feel “sporty” by default. But you can change that in your program mode table. Spend some time and learn what the table does. The manual explains it.
Awesome vid and info. I’m doing a -45 into a ‘99 Miata w a turbo, and am doing it without a TC. When you say you are regulating all the start and shifts w trans clutches do you have the TC locked? Thanks- again great info.
Would love to see a classic car getting an 8hp swap, perhaps something like a falcon with a Cleveland to see how the setup would go with a non drive by wire efi or carburetor.
Nice video mate, I’ve been doing what you said on the phone and reading the help section on the website to get an idea of the setup of the lamik. Also mate quick question with the torque settings. Would these be affected by a trailer weight? If it was a landcruiser and you did all the torque calcs for it on its base weight. Then you put 3.5 tonne behind it. Would that cause a problem with clutch take up on a fte? Or does weight not really affect these settings? Also do you need to make a whole new settings table on a different program when it is changed to low range? Because speed would change? Or does that not make any difference? Sorry might be a silly question. Still learning.
"ore wieght on a diesel vehicle will result in a higher tps for desired road speed, which will end up in the higher points of the tq calc map due to using the max tq tps table. The main thing to be aware of with a diesel is injector quantity changes. So if you do something to effect the injection quantity after setting up the tq calc, you will need to redo the calc. Adding weight will not normally cause any issues. With a petrol its timing changes. So if you do something that changes ignition timing you need to redo the tq calc setup

I don’t think so. Issue with the starter needing to be in the trans side and the size and shape of a 8hp converter. Also the lack of transaxle style 8hp. 8hp55 from Audi may work. But the converter and starter issue is unresolved.
I notice on some of the shifts from 1st to 2nd there is a noise from the transmission, like a buzzing/grinding/whining. Do you know what that is? I have had this noise since doing the conversion and cannot figure it out.
Its clutch engagement and normal. On cars with no sound deading or lighter cars it seems more noticeable. BMW wrapped the later model (2014 onwards) transmissions in a jacket to hide the noises, not to mention have a tonne of sound deading on the chassis. However do be warned they will make a similar noise in gear, when low on oil. The oil cavitation sound is similar. But what you hear in this video is clutches. Sounds like a cute version of the twin plate clutch in my evo.
Thanks for getting back to me. I did have a theory that it was lack of sound deadening and anti vibration mounts. It has been running for nearly a year now, done a few thousand miles and even a trip too and laps around the ring, so I thought it can't be anything major. It does indeed make a similar sound when low on oil too, I found this out when doing the first full after conversion. My next problem to solve is that I get a lot of whining when higher up in the rev range, sounds like oil pump or converter, but again, I am wondering if this is to do with lack of sound deadening also. There is a vid on my channel of my skyline on track where you can really hear it in the slower corners.
It shouldn’t but you loose the benefits of the converter. Which means you can’t brake boost for too long as it’s slipping the clutches. The latest BMWs do this. Well they deactivate the clutches a lot to completely remove load on the engine. I assume for fuel economy. But with that programming you have a converter when you need it. This feature in my opinion needs to be used with caution. I wouldn’t set a customer car up like this without a properly session with them, so they know what’s going on.
@@ZeroTo60Tube Makes sense. My thought process was that the clutches aren't forseen for such loads as taking off, as that's the converters job, but I guess I was wrong. You learn something new every day.
Take up is pretty gentle on the clutches for most applications (normal use). Especially light weight cars like this. Shifting at speed puts them to work. However it is a fair concern. You can let the converter slip for a few minutes, it will get warm but won’t wear anything. You can’t do that with the clutches. I do plan to play with launching on the clutches in this car. See what we can get it to do.
Presumably all the converters for the OEM are very tight ? As most of them will idle around 6-800rpm ? I'd think a looser converter would be a huge improvement for most tuned cars ?
I wouldn’t suggest it. I cooked the clutches in my gearbox, the first time I tried to stall it up on the brake. Unknowingly that setting was turned on in the lamik to stop the car stalling when selecting drive.
I have a bmw with zf8hp45 transmission when on the highway in 6th gear under gradual throttle I get power cut what could cause this? I'm completely lost. I'm at around 550awhp and torque.
How do the 8hp handle revving higher than 7.5k? I remember talking with Łukasz lamik in Poland during drag racing season and he didn't recommend revving it higher than that
The clutches and converter seem happy at 9000rpm. However tail shaft balance is very important. Especially if you have a heavy aftermarket single piece shaft.
