    i’ve seen a lot of forum posts etc saying there is issues with the 8hp boxes over 7500-8k rpm due to oil pump cavitation. Are you able to shed any light on this from your experiences with the boxes?
    Have an sr that’ll be spinning upwards of 10k rpm.

    • @Motorsporttuningsolutions1
      @Motorsporttuningsolutions1  2 месяца назад +2

      Good question, i run the engines so far to 8000rpm with the 2jz engines, power is made very early with the 2jz so we don’t need such high rpm.
      I wouldn’t have an issue spinning it to 8500rpm but I would have concerns above that. 9000rpm I would say is possible, but 10,000rpm is just crazy haha

    • @Motorsporttuningsolutions1
      @Motorsporttuningsolutions1  3 месяца назад +3

      No im using a petrol 8hp70 stock box. So a stock petrol converter.
      In the stock cars these come from, the final drive is about 3.2-3.4 ratio. Even with a 4.1 ratio like I had, you won’t really use gear 7/8 for anything but very low rpm cruise. Even the 4.1 at 8000rpm in 8th gear would be like 400kph.
      Reason for lowering the final drive from 4.1 to 3.7 is grip, it’s way to hard to get 800hp to grip with such violent gears gearing, I’ve dropped it down to lower the torque multiplier in lower gears.

    Is there any noticeable delay when you demand and shift and the shift actually happening?
    When downshifting is it still a direct feel?
    Trying to work out if this would be a suitable replacement over a sequential for a circuit car.

    • @Motorsporttuningsolutions1
      @Motorsporttuningsolutions1  3 месяца назад +2

      Hey mate, yes there is a delay, it’s about 150ms of delay, this could be tightened up a bit but this delay is more to do with the gearbox getting the correct solenoids full with oil to select the next gear, the shift time of the actual gearbox is very quick (70-120ms) but yes there is a delay on top.
      Roll racing and drag racing it’s not an issue but it may be more of an issue with circuit racing. Maybe a DCT gearbox is more suited for time attack/circuit racing, but I haven’t compared both on a track to really know.
      Not like the 8HP won’t be a good gearbox for circuit, just a DCT may be a bit better at super sharp shifting times with no delay, if that is a preference.
      Both 8HP and DCT have pros and cons.

      @@Motorsporttuningsolutions1 Awsome, i thought they only held 700nm. Do you know if it will work with a Supralink G4+ ecu?

      Yea they handle more than 700NM, my 2jz is at 850nm and going strong.
      Yep Link G4+ will work with this setup. Like any ecu, they take correct configuration to work properly.
