WOW I'm very much impressed with shifting on that Supra! I owned multiple MK4's, unfortunately I don't have any left, wanted to let you know that they are VERY heavy! you can simply replace the hatch with a CF hatch as this is VERY heavy alone! the doors are also very heavy, if you could get CF doors that would shave loads of weight, I'm pretty sure that with just weight reduction that ZF supra would act totally different and accelerate way faster! Hope I'm able to hunt another MK4 Supra soon! I'm currently doing Miata ND's and got a Morizo GR corolla, might start posting repair vids as I buy them wrecked first!
I have the ZF8HP in my Audi A6 BiTDi 235kw. The TCU mapping from standard is shocking compared to the BMW applications. I've had the TCU mapped now. Far better than standard but still not as quick as my mates 435d x-drive that's been mapped 😫
This is amazing. What do you think is required to for this to a old Jaguar V12 engine (old 3 speed GM TH400 auto) - just a new adapter plate presumably to match the bolt pattern, & custom length/adapted propshaft?
Believe it or not ppl these days are back to “converters” (they’re less jerky), not to mention cost of the DCT is significantly higher. The ZF8H70 is delightful and some say is quick as the DCT little less abrupt changing gears. You get power yet punchy yet smoother yet quick changing… I mean bro it’s a win win on every angle
What would be helpful for us in the USA is to list other 8hp transmissions that work. We dont have access to the diesel 8HP70 that you have in the UK. Will the 8hp50 work? Hold the power of a 2jz making 600rwhp?
@Bhicken_Nugget the WhifBitz adapter doesn't support the different bellhousing on the Dodge Charger's 8HP70. Only supports the N57 version. There's quite a few 8HP70 variations.
I have a stock TT 1994 MK4 Auto in the US. Coincidentally, it was originally a UK car and has many of the interesting items that come with EU version of the Supra. Do you offer a preprogrammed TCU? Or would I have to take it to a local tuner?
Very nice, I have a 95 SE automatic Supra LHD. What rear gearing is being used in your cars? I'm going to assume it was a TT 6spd originally and it has the big diff of 3.26? USD would be 3.13, Lexus makes a 3.13 200mm diff and also a 2.97 200mm. Which of those diffs would allow the 1st gear to be used rather than starting out in 2nd? Also, those wheels are gorgeous, I would like to eventually get them in 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear.
Do your kits work with a 8hp70 from a scat pack. I have a Aristo here in Texas and those dodge transmission’s are a dime a dozen compared to the n63 bmw ones.
I have the ZF8HP in my Audi a6 BiTDi they're taking 600hp and 1100+nm on these. So I'd like to think it would be good for you also as they're torque convertors 🤔 it tends to be torque that kills boxes. Maybe whifbitz can clarify?
what about the newest LT engine?. ive been goin threw 6l80e.. engine rated at 1xxxhp only ran 600 because of the transmission right now. 7litre supercharged
Why would you want to replace one inline "boat anchor" for another? Kind counter intuitive, wouldn't you think? If anything v8 would be a lot better like a 1,2,3 UZFE or even a LS.
Right, this guy forgets that with 9mm lift cams a pocket port and proper valve job the cylinder head supports 1200rwhp without losing low rpm air velocity. 9mm of lift is also very mild and allows for very stable valve train at high rpm (8-9k). Both motors have the ability to make torque so early they bend rods or cause block distortion, the nice thing is that there are aftermarket blocks for the 2j that address this and provide a level of reliability with low end torque that you cant on an s58 yet.

Doing the conversion on my crown here in Sweden and got some answers on questions from Paul, really appreciate it! :)
Happy to help!
Do you have to wait for it to downshift 3 times when you put your foot down?
This is amazing. What do you think is required to for this to a old Jaguar V12 engine (old 3 speed GM TH400 auto) - just a new adapter plate presumably to match the bolt pattern, & custom length/adapted propshaft?
Thats right yes, it will work a treat with that engine
Why ZF8 instead of DCT?

@ better than PDK which is a DCT?
Right, I'm sold!!
Is there any kits for the Lexus gs300 na-t??
Yes 😎

We can supply used N57 gearboxes if needed.
@Whifbitz for how much total shipped to Florida? Zip code 33844

Looking into it soon!
Ok great.
Does the transmission tunnel need to be modified? Interested in getting this done but wouldn't want to bend or bust anything to do it. Great build 👏👏👏
Slight adjustment with a hammer, nothing major.
@@Whifbitz thank you! :)
Is it possible to install the same transmission also on 04 lexus gs300 2jz ge?🎉❤🎉
Yes it is
@Whifbitz may I ask what the estimated cost is for the transmission in gs?
Is there a conversion kit to have the ZF 8 speed to be fitting onto a EVO X with a SST Transmission?
Sorry no there isn't
You'd be better off looking into a VW DSG swap or sequential for the Evo x platform since the transmission is mounted transversely.

We can do that yes.
Would you fit one of these to a V10 M5/M6?
We could yes, that will transform it.
that is incredible. very practical but also changes the dynamic of the car for better while being very fun. grade it an A+
Thanks 😎

This car uses the original 3.7 ratio.
@@Whifbitz what is the best rear diff ratio to use for the mkiv supra?

They can be made for those gearboxes but I think they’re quite big so might not fit in the tunnel very well.
you need an N57 ZF 8hp70.
Hi awesome work guys, is it possible do it for Porsche 997 turbo with tip gears
No it’s not.
I want the swap for a 1uz vvti but nobody does it.
It’s available yes.
Will a land rover shifter work well with the lamik?
See here manual.turbolamik.eu/SupportedCANSelectors.html
Thanks mate, appreciate it 👌
Which car model i car fune the good zf 8 speed transmission?
BMW 530d F10
how much rpms can this 8hp goes? we have a boosted s2000 which runs 700 whp and revs to 9k,,can this ZF rev to 9k rpms ?
We’ve only ever tested them to 8000rpm so far.
Torque is what limits transmissions not RPM. They just wanted to tell you their engine revs higher.
@@466rudy6actually torque converter gearboxes like the 8hp have a rpm limit (I’ve seen 8400 so far)

Does this transmission kit work with ProEfi 128 ECU alone? Or does it need the TCU to work along with it?
The Tcu can work with any ecu.
What was the donor car of that ZF8HP ?
It came out of a BMW with an N57 engine.
@@Whifbitz so longer 8th gear for highway driving ?
@@dimmacommunicationyes I still have 8th gear for the highway
Looks like a great alternative to manual conversion. How much power can this handle?
We’ve tested them to 850bhp so far. They can be upgraded if you need them to handle more power.
do paddles not fit on an oem supra wheel?
No they don’t.
Does any zf8hp work or do you need to use the mk5 Supra one?
We normally use the 8hp70 from a bmw.
I’m in the US, what are my options other than shipping the car overseas?
We can send you a kit and all you need to do is find a tuner that can install it. It’s very easy to fit.
Would you recommend this over a 7 speed dct?
Definitely yes.
I have a 98 GS400 what is the cost of this conversation

If it uses the same bell housing as LS engines yes.
getting close.... Only a matter of time until the boat anchor comes out of the engine bay and gets replaced with a S58.
That would be a big job to get one of those to fit.
