      i thought there's 2 flavours discounting the smaller hp70~ so jeep/demon/BMW was the same it was just 4x4 vs 2x4 drive nope thanks now i can see, my bell/parts are based around Chevy's and mopar-RB440/hemi so the closest is the hellcat's/SBM and or adaptation kit's aftermarket off the shelf not 4x4 BMW--8hp-transmission, so i wonder what's the difference between a dodge 80 and a 90 and a bwm-4x4 trans now beside's the bell/case as my first thought 💭was
      surprised to find out that dodge is making heavyweight vehicles and higher power as a combo ( i did hear that manual transmission tr6060 platformed car's like mine got passed by the automatic updates/upgrade's but didn't know it's about the same limits at 800hp-1200hp~ sorry forgot the torque number's ) but using the middle/small/under size parts, one would have figured it would have more warranty claims and or they would have learned the lessons of others in the malaise/70's/fwd era of crapy 🇺🇸 car's
      there saying that the BMW box/transmission/8HP is the best all rounder but did they look at the ford/GM 10-speed's? as the 10R80 to 10R140 look's up to snuff hardware wise and a wider-gearing split 1st being about 5:1 and OD about .05:1

    The reason why I am looking into 8HP70 swaps is because I happen to own a BMW E38 740d. That's an M67D40 biturbo V8 diesel with a 5HP30. The engine is so heavy duty it is hard to believe when you see it's internals. Locomotive levels of torque potential. And BMW tuned it to limit the torque to only 560Nm, the exact numer the ZF rated these 5HP30 transmissions. Some people tune lightly it to 620-630Nm, but that's right on the verge of failure. At first I thought about 6HP32 swaps as they don't require any adapters if you get the correct bellhousing and they are rated to 750Nm. Then the 8HP swaps in Poland blew up and it is hands down the best option. Why put so much work to get another wasteful sloshbox if 8HPs are so efficient. The instant lock-up and so many cruising gears. I bet could probably maintain 200km/h @ 1800RPM on the 8th as I have the longest 2.65:1 differential.

    Wait so at 17:35 are you guys suggesting that this gladiator owner should run a turbolamik instead? Generally on a vehicle equipped with an 8hp from the factory is it easy to have the turbolamik play nicely with the stock ECU or is there always an ECU reflash or replacement with another standalone required even when keeping stock power/map on the engine?
    I’d love to do some projects with stellantis ecodiesels but the risk of needing to fight with the stock ECU throws me off a bit

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  16 дней назад

      This video was nearly 2 years ago now. That comment was in relation to lack of tuneability at the time in the Jeep tcu. HP tuners has sinces decoded more of the Jeep tcu binary and you can make those changes the guy with the gladiator was struggling with. That said for landcruiser application the tuneability of the turbolamik is still much better suited than any other 8hp controller currently available.

    • @needanameprojects
      @needanameprojects 16 дней назад

      @ the work you guys have been doing on the clutch feel emulator and virtual clutch implementations opens me up to a world of possibility for when I’m swapping both engine/engine management and the factory transmission which is awesome (thank you!) but there are also a ton of applications with the 8hp stock where I’d be interested in just adding the virtual clutch and leaving the engine alone - have you done any/many of those? My fear would be that the stock ECM would be looking for gear indication, temperatures, or other data from the ZF controller which would need to be emulated with either custom software in the turbolamik or a separate CAN device.

      The jeep failures i had seen were due to the smaller output shaft on the jeep box snapping. Which was normally caused by axle tramp from launches. Which aligns with what you are saying. Most of the awd cars wont get axle tramp until they around the 1000whp. I wasnt saying the 8hp70 wasnt strong, just that its not as strong as the BMW version, as the BMW has the same output shaft as the Jeep 8hp90.

    Hey, a bit of a question about the gear selection behaviour - I've currently got a jaguar xfr with a stock 6hp (not necessarily looking to swap this OEM, but maybe for something in the future) but one part I like about it's control behaviour is that whilst in regular drive mode, you can still manually change gears with the steering wheel paddles, and it reverts back to automatic mode after a while - can that behaviour be replicated with the turbolamik?
    (The 'sport' mode just has higher revs for automatic shift points, but going into 'manual' override keeps it in that selected gear. Holding the 'change up' paddle (right paddle) reverts it to automatic mode)

      He’s not hitting torque limiters. Apparently being tuned by the best jeep guy in qld. However do you know of a tcu flash that lets him set tyre size and diff.
      The issue appears to be transmission doesn’t know road speed. So it shifts about 1000rpm to late in auto modes. He has to drive in manual everywhere.
      The guy tuning the box can lower shift points. But it relearns bad habits really quickly. But you can’t blame it if it doesn’t know road speed.

    • @steveshortt90
      @steveshortt90 Год назад

      @Zero To 60 my controller lets me set tyre sizes.. then lets me adjust a parameter to then match actual speed so 5kph and 150kph are linear.
      I don't think this affects the factory TCM as the factory TCM only looks for and works with output shaft speeds for shifting, not wheel speeds.. the SoundGermanAutomotive controller outputs that calculated wheel speed data via CAN or as an analogue signal wire straight to the instrument cluster. BASICALLY I feel the tyre speed and size is his ECU calculation due to the fact the trans deals with output shaft speeds instead of wheel speeds.
      If old mates Jeep is having torque issues for shifting, it can be modified to handle the 1500nm and the trans won't throw codes.
      If I did it all again, I'd most definitely go with the Lamik now that they have their software bugs sorted.. at the time I couldn't not have a truck that had to wait for software updates to use as a daily driver.
      Not a biggy but I hadn't struggled with it for 12 months, it drove well straight away, I just struggled with how HPTuners worked the shift patterns and really wanted a manual shift to stay in manual shift without it dropping out. I'd 100% run the Lamik with my next Jeep box for sure.

Let me have a chat to him, plug in and see if he's happy with where it shifts for which aggression table it's in. @@antonis2708 ha i do apologise. comments got mixed up there, that reply was for someone else. The e46 on the dyno we venture in to the torque reduction. However to simplify with a canbus intergrated engine ECU connection, the lamik can request the amount of reduction and the time it does it for. As well as ramp in and out. With the analogue output you basically send a voltage signal out and then setup how your ecu will react to that. The voltage can be varied.

    I have a question if you dont mind.
    I went to the bmw wreckers and asked for a 8hp70 off N57 diesel. And he said there are lots of diffrent bell housings from for the n57 diesels. Is this true? As it makes finding a gearbox quite hard.

      Nah, all n57 bell housings are the same. However the transmission casing is different between rwd and xdrive which may be what he is referring to. Also different trans mounts across different models.

      N63 and N57 are different, but from what I have seen that's it.
