    Interesting results! Id love to see some more aggressive midrange dyno runs on something with a heavier duty bottom end- but the fact its doing what you're showing on an admittedly gentle tune is promising for future development. Looking forward to installing mine

    I've just bought the same turbo for my A80 Supra 6 speed, kinda based on your video if I'm honest, but I'm going to be running it off an Artec V-band manifold and with Kelford 272/278 cams, springs, retainers etc.
    I'd love to see more videos of this 2J Silvia beast when you turn it up some more.

      Slightly bigger cams on your end and the beautiful Artec should be a deadly combo.

    Hey mate. Really nice and informative video.... i haven't found much real world reaults on the G40.. you are the only 1.. im converting my F80 M3 to single turbo and im looking at using thw G40 1150... im really stucked on choosing the correct turbine housing for my application.. i mostly do half mile roll racing... On my M140i im using G35 1050 with 1.01 AR... i wat would u recommend

    • @Motorsporttuningsolutions1
      @Motorsporttuningsolutions1  10 месяцев назад +1

      Appreciate the feedback mate. I’ll make a nice video on using rolling launch 🚀 control and how quick it comes on full power.
      Turbine housing, I would definitely suggest the size I’m running. T4 twin scroll 0.95.
      It’s one of the smaller exhaust housings Garrett offer and my back pressure is basically non existent at 850whp. High Back pressure is the main killer for making power and limiting the turbo’s performance at top end rpm.
      Unless you trying to max out the turbo to its full potential, then 0.95 is the go.

  • @michaelrios9554
    @michaelrios9554 8 месяцев назад +1

    Wow that comparison between the 1150 vs 6266 is closer then I imagined. I think if you added more into the mid-range with the g40-1150, the 200-300 rpm slower spool is well worth it. I run a 6766 with a .84 t4 divided housing, so it seems to me this g40 would have similar spool. My next turbo for sure!

  • @boris9331
    @boris9331 10 месяцев назад

    Does it outdo a 6870 e.g can spool similar but push more power so far it seems the 6870 is still the gun for response and the power it can make has any turbo outdone it? Or is the g40-1150 nothing out of the ordinary in terms of efficiency ?

  • @JC-vc7tf
    @JC-vc7tf Год назад +1

    I know you love your roll racing, but will you do any 1/4 mile work? I'd also love you know how much timing your running in the midrange.
    Love your work, keep it up!

    • @Motorsporttuningsolutions1
      @Motorsporttuningsolutions1  Год назад +3

      Yep I’ll be heading to the 1/4 mile very soon mate. I’ll test and dial in the grip levels, once that’s done I’ll send it down the track.
      Ignition timing in the low and mid section of rpm is still very conservative, about 13 degrees ignition timing. On e85, I could advance it much more

    How big of an upgrade would this turbo be compared to a G35-1050? And is the G40 turbo close to running out of steam or has plenty more to go?

    • @Motorsporttuningsolutions1
      @Motorsporttuningsolutions1  9 месяцев назад +2

      Well if you have high back pressure with the G35, you would see great improvement but if you haven’t maxed out the G35 then you would just stay with the G35. There would be about 100-150hp difference right at the top end.
      My setup atm is just beginning. It’s far from mixed out. Maxed out would be about 1000whp maybe 1050whp

    • @Motorsporttuningsolutions1
      @Motorsporttuningsolutions1  5 месяцев назад +1

      Engine seems good mate, no signs yet of any issues. Cant say i drive he car everyday though. But every time its driven it is on full power.
      Maincaps, wel if your engine is being built then for sure you would upgrade but if its stock, just leave it until its build time. Engines just dont like brining all the power in as fast as you can, so if its tuned to survive, it prob will be good.

    Is there any way to add 250hp down low and 400hp to the midrange to match a 1200hp EFR turbo?

    • @Motorsporttuningsolutions1
      @Motorsporttuningsolutions1  Год назад +1

      Well ignition timing is still low in the mid section, wastegate duty cycle is also still low in the mid section too. I would be very interested i to see this 1200hp EFR producing that kind of power down low, the 6266 precision turbo I compared it to on the Dyno is a great responsive smaller turbo and that won’t even get those results your talking about.

    I want it to blow the tyres off as hard as possible and have all the torque surge 😁 cheers

    • @Motorsporttuningsolutions1
      @Motorsporttuningsolutions1  3 месяца назад +2

      If that’s what you want, you need the Artec t4 twin scroll short runner exhaust manifold with T4 divided turbo housing in 0.95 and on e85 fuel. If so, you could get it on full power probably early 4000rpm. All depends on your gearing through gearbox and final drive and what load is placed on vehicle at the time and what boost pressure your aiming for.
      Easy to get 15psi, harder to get 45psi

    Hey Phil, would you have any insight on how the G40-1150 0.95 would compare to the G42-1200 1.01 on a 2JZ? Much of an increase in lag?

    • @Motorsporttuningsolutions1
      @Motorsporttuningsolutions1  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hey mate, yep there will be a noticeable increase in lag with the (500-1000rpm) G42 but you would get a tad more too end.
      Personally, for the 800-1050whp range, the G40 is hard to beat.
