good stuff as always
Hahaha god damn it!
Very informative as usual, your last two video’s have answered a lot of questions I see on Facebook posts. Top man.
I’m trying to shed some light on the basics. Hopefully help other understand a little better.
Btw, outstanding content, as usual. You are the go-to for TL Tuning!
Thanks for sharing Andrew. Have a good one, cheers Nico.
Thanks, you too!
Amazing and highly informative videos as always! Im looking to 8hp swap my BMW E39 540I, but I have no idea where to begin. Can you point me in the right direction of who can help me figure out what I need to complete the swap. Thanks!
8spd the world, love the info 🙂
hell yeah brotha! Also 1000 subs! congrats
Greatly explained
Glad you think so!
Yo!!!
Where is the n54 content at?!
I hope everything is well, and keep on keeping on!!!!!
Im well, just way too busy with work. But i guess thats a good problem to have.
@ yea it is!
Finding work has been difficult on my end, racing car stuff in California not really good now.
Welp, when you get a chance make some videos even if it’s just simple stuff. I want to do that, but the n54 and VQ stuff aren’t going anywhere until I have some steady income.
Hi Andrew, fabulous content and insight as always! Can you do a video to overcome a tight stall on a diesel torque converter, specifically for drag/ quatermile application? Possible better settings to use? Thanks
Clutch sleep, and launch will do it. However I personally think for a performance application you need a custom converter on a ported rotary.
Well Andrew I think we're all worried about you again. Although I hope we shouldn't be and you're really just happy and healthy working away in the shop with your friends earning a contented living. But man I sure wish you were still pumping out those really GREAT VIDEOS about N54's and even maybe a couple B58's if you are so inclined. But the N54 platform has me in it's firm grasp as my car keeps on getting up grades and little bits as I can afford them. (Just put on OEM Suspension all the way around as I got a really great deal on Struts and Shocks, Control Arms, etc. That's one of the reasons the N54 is the one so many go for I believe. It's about the community of available aftermarket parts that are at a cost much lower and yet with a bit of research here on good ol "Zero to 60" we can learn which parts are fairly trustworthy and which are total garbage. But now there's a big hole in my life. My inspiration is waning and I'm a little dog lost in a German Snow storm. (Okay a big dog as I am 6ft 4Inches. LOL. Okay well all the very best to you and yours Andrew! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! Please let us know if you're okay. I'm guessing you probably have posted something on another platform like insta gram or something I'm not on so I've been out of the loop! Man my N54 has gotten so crazy fast and fun to drive now days. Just got a smoking out the tail pipes problem now. Probably PCV system or the valve or something like that. (I HOPE! LOL).
hahhaa, oh man. Always love reading your comments. I realised back in July, well, to paint the picture i took a coulple of weeks off in June/July and come back with heaps of enthusiam to start pumping out the videos again. But it didnt take long for the reality of my current work obligations to get in the way. Back in the day i could work solid on the content. So it wasnt unusual to have 100+ hour weeks that went in to what was being filmed 8am to 2am days were normal when i was doing the near daily vids. Realistically now, if i push myself i have 20 hours a week for content creation and editing and with so many issues with parts supply, broken parts, delays are envitable and i realised i can't meet consistent upload goals like i used to, not to mention both Laura and myslef daily BMWs so i often just have stuff to fix outside work hours... haha . The consistent videos is just not going to happen while 8speed work is so busy. So i decided to change my style of filming/story telling. Which is why the e92 updates stopped. I figured i will wait to upload until the story is worked out and sorted, car working again. I did aquire two other builds for the channel last year. Hopefully no else sees this, but i have a e60 m5 and a e70 x5m. Both cars were featured on the channel back in the day. Both need a lot of work to be the cars i want. But i think its going to be an epic 3 car garage i have by the end of 2025..... hopefully. I have been working on videos of the e60 and e70, but i wont realease them until the cool stuff starts to happy the videos dont seem so boring. I know the one you are here for tho, the e92. I got it on a lift the last day of work 2024, with the intensions of having it running by the first day back at work 2025.... unfortunately dispite my best efforts, i ran in to some more delays. But hopefully i will have the e92 single turbo running in the next 2-3 weeks and a full update video on where i ended up with this stage of rebuild. Its more extreme than i planned early last year in some areas and i kept it basic in areas, i wanted to go crazy with. Either way im super excited, the features and tuning of the maxxecu has been a big learning curve, but its what i am most excited about right now.
I have a 530d with zf6 hp26 that sometimes dont want to lockup, it does when i put it in sportmode.. dont have issues when drive it hard. 🤷♂️ it has brand new converter.. i hope it's not the clutches that is worn😖
That's What SHE said!!
Great video. We look forward to the opportunity to work with you. How can we contact you?😉
I have questions/ideas for Turbolamik programming.
1. Is there an H pattern setup available? It would be cool to have an 8-position H-pattern shifter with up and left being reverse, down and left being automatic, and the rest being a normal 6-speed pattern that engages gears 2-7 kinda like how a Koenigsegg Lightspeed does it.
2. Can you program the automatic mode in a way that it will engage reverse when you press the clutch pedal, but operate the clutch when you're in manual mode? The idea behind this is that you don't have to move the stick to go into reverse, just brake, be under 5kph, and then press the "clutch" pedal to engage reverse and you can almost control it like a GTA game or something.
1. Not currently.
2. No.
@@ZeroTo60Tube Well that sucks. Somebody should get on those projects :)
You have for sale sector turbo lamik?
Have you played much with the lock up and adjusting where the lockup engages? Instead of utilising the clutches internally to slip to make take off's nicer?
Yes. That said most I leave as per base map.
Ever figure out what was going on with the dct car and Dave’s 135 and not finishing flashes with mhd
The dct car.... i think was a phone issue. Daves was similar. I remember something to do with network settings on the MHD link.
Is there a way to contact you directly for a project? Please
Unfortunately i have way too many projects on the go already
Does this mean you can remove the torque converter (or replace it with a lightweight flywheel)? And it will feel as a DCT (shifts, launches, engine braking etc)
Yes you can. But i would highly advise against it. The tq converter is one of the key components that makes the 8hp better than a DCT. An 8hp will get a car down the quarter mile faster than a DCT. Its a myth that DCT is faster.
@@ZeroTo60Tube thanks mate
How do I get in touch if I want someone to remote into my lamik?
Speak only with your lamik dealer or turbolamik poland directly
I see there is a lot of guys here who know what are they talking about so my question is: is it possible to run 8hp exactly like a DCT without a torque converter. Has someone already done it? Are there any benefits to it? I just love those dct shifts, they are a bit more „punchier“ and harder than an 8hp, and maybe the same can be done with an 8hp without a torque converter
It’s possible with a lamik yes.
I wouldn’t personally bother. But if you do, try and manufacture a dual mass type dampener to replace the tq converter. I’ve seen one guy not use a dual mass and it wasn’t running for long. BMW did it with the 8hp45r. They also stopped doing it pretty quickly as well and went back to a converter for the race cars.
The shifts still won’t be like a dct by removing the converter. The algorithm for shift disengagement and re-engagement is very different. Especially as it affects many clutches at once.
The only thing you will gain is the engine will free rev faster. Less mass spinning with the crank when not in gear or downshifts.
If you want a dct feel, go with a dct. It will be much cheaper.
Several guys have done the swap without the TC - one drifts in NorwSwedifFinworld, another with track Miatas in the States, and I’m doing one myself on an NB Miata for throttle response and weight. The TC weighs over 30 lbs the you add adapter and ring gear and you have a LOT of flywheel weight. I am using a sprung hub clutch disc for torsional
damping.
Anyway i can get into contact with you ? Need your expertise will pay accordingly im stumped on this e39 radio install
Hey mate. Unforutnately that is not something i can help with.
i can't tell if this is a troll comment or not
Alright I wish I had your email or something as I have a question. So I’ve got tuner pro downloaded but I can not find a dodge xdf file for an 8hp70. I do not have my turbo lamik yet I was just trying to get an xdf for the transmission I plan to use to start going over all the software. Am I missing something?
The bin files for the transmission are not manufacturer specific. All the info you need is on the turbolamik.eu forum. Or of course you can ask your dealer.
Thank you for your response! That helps a lot knowing they are not specific for a manufacturer. Appreciate it and keep all the good info coming if you can! Just a wealth of knowledge!
What's ya thoughts on an 8 speed for a turbo rotary so far ?
The 8hp is a brilliant transmission and you can make do nearly anything you want. However the issue with the rotaries is high idle. This clutch sleep method is fine if you know how to use it, understand how pressure is fed to the clutches and drive the trans accordingly. It will also load the turbo up for drag starts and launching. But again you need to be aware of what is happening inside the box. For the average punter, i think you need a custom converter that allows for higher idle. So you can make use of the converter. Thats when you can really abuse the box and let any loose with them. Also proper transbrake and a loose converter launch will help a lot of cars get out of the hole and be more gentle on the tyres.
@@ZeroTo60Tube thanks mate love ya vids leading the way
id I hear right 10.74 no trans bake? does 10.73 still have trans brake?
Both have transbrake. You may have missunderstood the video. Might need to watch again.
👍👍
Hey, how would I be able to reach out to you the best way? I'd like to send you out a shiftlight kit we made to illuminate m3 dct clusters. Works with every Trans and engine.
You can see a demo on my channel.
Hope to hear from you soon
Cheers
Its been 4 month, where are u mr.8hp 😂
Man its been busy. I have changed my filming style. So to not leave builds half done with months delays. The e92 will be driving soon and a few videos will all drop together on that build. I have another 2 builds also being worked on at the same time as well. Hopefully we will end up with 2 vids a month in 2025.
@ZeroTo60Tube yesssss please we need new video :D
Heyo got a question for you since i watched like a lot of your vids of the ZF8, i got the Hptuners software for mine and tuned a bit myself but for some reason my 4 to 5th gear change while having no load applied pulls the rpm down really hard and fast. now i have messed with the clutch pressures in that torque region and even have gone as far as putting the pressure to 0 for the oncoming clutch yet it had no effect on it. since you seem to understand the gearbox very well i thought i ask you if you had some ideas why that is? This happens in whatever mode i set it aswell so there is no difference in M or D it always clunks and pulls the rpm down super fast.
To be honest i think it would best to have this comment in a HP tuners forum. I dont want to make any suggestion on a platform i have no expeirence with.
Good afternoon. When braking sharply to a complete stop, there was a jolt, I noticed that it was at the moment of switching from 3 to 2
I'm also on version 10.74 and the tremors only occur when braking sharply at the moment of full stop Please tell me, you cannot view my settings remotely, I will record the logs with the problem and send the firmware bin file?
There are a couple of possible causes. Can you confirm here what your engine is, what diff ratio, and tyre size. And have you gone through and calibrated those in turbolamik yet? Some tyre and diff combinations can hit the base map rpm limits causing harsh downshift.
Can I send you a file for verification? Motor m54b30, main pair 3.64, wheels 225/45/17
