Zakk is one of the few musicians out there that truly and genuinely care about the quality of music. So many now are just trying to make a buck. Zakk has always had my respect and always will. He is 110% real.

I've seen Zakk play many times over the years & there's no denying his talent but calling him the greatest is a bit of a stretch. Or do you not regard Eddie van Halen or Randy Rhodes as metal guitarists? Zakk himself always referred to Eddie as King Edward.

Who is Fred Durst?
Zakk was Ozzy's guitarist for a long time. pretty sure he's played bigger crowd's than Limp Dick will ever have in front of them.
Actually Fred Durst played at Woodstock 99 in front of 400000 people so that's a lie.
Zakk Wylde's irritating sound ruined Ozzy's albums after "No Rest for the Wicked", once it was clear how repetitive and lacking in imagination it was. Randy Rhodes (obviously), Jake E Lee and Brad Gillis were all vastly superior musicians. Being a massive Ozzy fan growing up, I can't stand him for that reason. I think the immature and ignorant way this 40-year old man conducts himself in this interview proves my point, and I don't think Durst's appalling performance is any excuse for it.
I'm the same way. I LOVE Rhodes and Lee and the material they did with Ozzy. I can't stand Zakk Wylde though. Technically, he's not that great of a guitar player. And to compensate for it it seems like he abuses harmonics and vibrato on every other note. Different strokes for different folks, but his playing bores me. Give me Jake or Randy any day.

No, the songs they played on in the stuido wouldn't have sounded better with anyone else. Randy played Crowley better than anyone, always will. Lee Bark at the Moon, it wouldn't have been so amazing without Lee. Miracle Man, No More Tears, Breaking All the Rules for Zakk, these badass songs and their guitar genius is the only reason they are so good. Ozzy played his part, but even he knew, he needed someone to play the type of music he wanted. Zakk did just that, and he also can cover Randy pretty damn well. His harmonics are just an added style, just like how Dime had his squeals. RIP Dime

It's cool. I got over my nu-metal phase a LONG time ago. I don't even listen to RATM anymore, but they helped to wake me up when I needed it back then. I tend to gravitate to Melodic Death, Prog Metal, Classical, and underground Hip Hop. I know, eclectic tastes. :)
Zakk is more of a serious musician, also quite an asshole saying he'll beat Fred up just for fun. Great message to send out to everyone, asshole. Fred and the band say they started off as a joke and never expected to make so much fame with their music. This live performance wasn't considered a real song, at least that little last part. Fred's a funny guy in my opinion, just his face while he's making the guitar slowly squeal makes me laugh. That's my opinion.

Zakk is considered to be one of the best metal guitarists of all time and is very well respected throughout the rock genre by his peers. He also has an amazing metal band on his own, has played (and written) for Ozzy for years, and filled in for multiple Black Sabbath shows. Furthermore, he did two solo albums that fans went crazy over. I'm doubting Freddy boy has such an impressive resume.

I believe it's because Zakk went to record companies in order to get record deals, however they always wanted him to change his image, such as Fred Durst. Zakk wouldn't appease the record deal's conditions, so he got pissed off with Fred Durst because he's basically the image that the record deal wanted off Zakk.

I just worked a BLS show. I work lots of shows and ust say that Zakk is more than just BLS or Ozzys guitarist. He is very very talented and versatile. Check out his other work pre-BLS. Lots of good stuff. Fred Durst on the other hand.....he sold records for sure but making music on machines and riding the wave of a music business fad doesnt last long...lots of one hit wonders out there. The test of time ususally weeds out the posers. Where is Fred these days anyway.....wink.
