I could listen to Zakk play and chat all day. What a huge talent and just amazing person. His whole journey of creating his signature guitars is so awesome. Anyway, thanks for sharing, this made my whole day.
I love the way he presents the trademarks of the big guitar players and says "don't wanna be compared to x, don't do y". And watching him walk so fast through a traditional pentatonic pattern...practical inspiration without being overly heady.
tuned a little low for my floyd to jam along with... but love me some Zack. Hitting the stop and backing it up several times to grasp some of his technique. Very cool. Thank you Zack, very kind of you to take the time to lay it down for us.
An American philosopher? Really? Then you don’t know what philosophy is. The 4 crayon analogy from Dick Wild is not original. He regurgitated that from what he heard. Tell me who originally used that analogy. He plays guitar adequately. He’s not an innovator. Gus shit is pasèe
I saw him with Oz back in the day and he was amazing. Oz was throwing buckets of water on the crowd and there were two different times Zac slipped and landed on his back. Then he like ninja jumped back to his feet and if you had not seen it you would never know he fell. Never stopped playing. No noise. That blew my mind.
I only saw Ozzy live once but Joe Holmes played guitar, not Zakk. It was strange though because Zakks band BLS played at that concert too earlier in the day, It was at Ozzfest. Holmes did a great job though, he's a good guitarist too.
Saw this amazing guy way back in 1986, a special early appearance with Ozzy in Wormwood Scrubs. He blew us away then and has not failed to deliver since.
I have always loved and respected Zakk for his playing, humor, and most of all class- he ALWAYS respects those who came before him. He has inspired a whole generation himself (like Richie Faulkner).

He played that hello kitty guitar better than I can play my PRS. Really goes to show its not the guitar that makes it sound good but the skill of the player and he is in another dimension to me.
Zakk is so accessible and speaks from the heart about his love for guitar playing and music in general ! Love how he explains the more technical aspects of how he found the “Wylde Style” . Thanks to LoudWire too for booking the best!
Watching Zakk from 21 years old until today has been nothing short of a blessing. The guy wasn't a Rhoads clone, he was like the love child of EVH and RR.
What's really cool and proves his deep musicianship: Zakk is able to let the instrument breath and ring, and in the same time he keeps the time and the groove happen.
When I learned to play the ACDC Black album.. it was a breakthru.. it was attainable.. 3 chords mostly.. brilliantly played.. cool to hear Zakk had the same humble beginnings..

I absolutely loved this interview I feel like he is the most underrated he's one of the best so interesting to hear why he used the blues early on... He plays those pentatonics like no one else.. A few years ago he came to San Diego to play at guitar center and I was excited because I will finally got to meet him, but I had to work that night as manager at Denny’s so i couldn’t go to meet him, then these 2 huge guys enter at my restaurant and one of them was Zakk, I was in shock I couldn’t believe it, we talked for a while about his plans, his tour and other things, he is an amazing guy and a humble human being, my wife brought me my guitar he signed it and we took a few pictures ( still is my profile picture) it was a great night lol
2 weeks and counting until I meet this living legend!!! I cannot wait to see him and his BLS boys hit that stage and bless us all with his energy, skill and showmanship!!!!!
It's really cool hearing one of your favorite guitarists speak about playing their favorite licks and it sounds like you are listening to yourself. It's that ability to relate to other musicians that makes it real special.
I could listen to Zakk play and chat all day. What a huge talent and just amazing person. His whole journey of creating his signature guitars is so awesome. Anyway, thanks for sharing, this made my whole day.
I'm definetely no metalhead, but I really love watching Zakk talk about his guitar playing. Seems like he'd be an awesome teacher.
He's not metal anyway. lol.
It’s insane the riff knowledge Zakk still has, even playing original material for 30-40 years. He’s seriously the coolest dude.
We are lucky and thankful to still have Zakk. I hope he's doing well. He always brings me back to "pentatonic with attitude". Thank you Zakk.
His guitar technique is insane and it shines when he is playing simple stuff musically.
I actually love that he explained why he plays the way he does, and it makes a lot of sense!
He is super human when he touches the fiddle. I've been a fan for forever and a day it's seems and he still amazes me. 🎸👑
I love the riff from ‘Man On The Silver Mountain’ by Rainbow. Blackmore was a riff master.
Blackmore is one of my all time favorites!
Stargazer has a bad ass riff as well
Agree..Malcom Young & Tony Iommi as well
Ritchie was the master PERIOD
Classical starts all the greats
Rare to see Zakk be serious, honest and frank in discussion. It's usually all jokes and laughs.
I'd bet there was a good amount of editing done to present that.
10:09 "Losin your mind" Love that song. wish i could see him playing that song live on a stage again!
thought im the only one xD
I came here to find the name of that song! Thank you!
@@onhate pride and glory
Imho he is a great blues guitarist, he chooses metal and it's ok but I hope he will mix both together again in the future
Zak your such a great player dude .. loved your work with Ozzy !! No more tears etc.. you two were a match made in heaven 🤘
“See what you can do with 4 crayons.” This man is an American philosopher. Like Mark Twain. Looks like Twain, too. But, plays guitar. Incredibly well.
Plays great like how mark Twain wrote great
It's about using limiations as a springboard for creativity. See Jack White for a different take
@@xion7697 He’s full of bullshit.
I could listen to Zakk Wylde talk for hours, he seems like as big a fan of music as he is an artist
Amazing player! Filling in for Randy and creating his own sound goes to show his talent! What a beast of a player!
No doubt. Very happy for all of his successes.
Saw this amazing guy way back in 1986, a special early appearance with Ozzy in Wormwood Scrubs. He blew us away then and has not failed to deliver since.
Jake E Lee was with Ozzy till early 1987.
BILL SHIT
Who's disliking this. I love the complete honesty. Every guitar player is inspired and pull
from their heroes/favorite artists.
dudes who don't know how to listen to anything if it isnt tuned 2 steps down with screaming vocals
You know rolling stones had a top 100 guitarist list and zakk wasn't even on it!!! 😲🤟 such a shame dudes a beast
I have always loved and respected Zakk for his playing, humor, and most of all class- he ALWAYS respects those who came before him. He has inspired a whole generation himself (like Richie Faulkner).
My life has been a complete and total misery ever since Bigfoot stole my precious girlfriend in the middle of the night.😒 He even took all her clothes and the T.V.
Down to earth. Great teacher and human being. Thanks for everything.
Tangerine is such a great melody Zac, your choice of material says so much about you and your well developed ear and playing.
Met Zakk a few years ago, great guy, and he treats you like family lol. I went in for a handshake and he gave me a hug instead . Just a hilarious guy and awesome dude. He signed the back of my BLS sweater on the logo, and it’s still hanging in my room!! 🤟🏼 can’t wait for the new BLS album next month !
From a Hello Kitty guitar to an actual guitar, Zakk has come a long way
He played that hello kitty guitar better than I can play my PRS.
Really goes to show its not the guitar that makes it sound good but the skill of the player and he is in another dimension to me.
Lol
And he knocked NIB out the mf park with that hello kitty guitar! 😂
More pink, anythung for pink.
No longer excuses 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Take a drink whenever Zakk says, "You know what I mean?" Lol
Came to the comments for this
Good Jersey lingo!
Man! You know what I mean?🍻
That’s what we do in Jersey lol
@Chris E. like you 😂 lol
One of my favourites man such a great player and such an influence
When I learned to play the ACDC Black album.. it was a breakthru.. it was attainable.. 3 chords mostly.. brilliantly played.. cool to hear Zakk had the same humble beginnings..
Alex Lifeson of RUSH getting credit for a breakthrough riff is cool. (Spirit of Radio) Especially for us RUSH fans. Alex really is an underrated guitar god.
One of the top guitarists ever. Top 10
Anytime a comment uses the term underrated, you know the person knows nothing about what they are commenting!
Rush blows
@@topfloorstudio2684 If Rush isn't your cup of tea, so be it. But don't be an ignorant douchebag. You know damn well those three guys are legends. I don't like Aerosmith all that much, but I know they are talented and loved by millions.
That one riff in Free Will still gives me chills when I hear it and play it
I love when he stops talking mid sentence and finishes his thought just by playing. It's a testament of him favoring using his guitar to speak for him.
Yup
This guy is mind-blowing. 🤯 His love of music and the love and respect to the artists before him
I enjoyed the interview, and the joke at the end was the cherry on top of the cake. Love you Zakk
The influence of angus and AC/DC on so many guitar players is truly incredible
I love that he's totally comfortable sitting there with a completely bare naked guitar tone and doesn't feel like he needs it loaded with gain and delay. Great player.
And it's through a 2 channel JCM 800. Not the best clean channel according to some weirdo gatekeepers but listen to how Zakk does it, with EMG's!
I like that he mentioned Hotel California when he was talking about Mama I’m Coming Home because the last lick of that solo is 100% pulled directly from Hotel California.
Yeah something I always noticed and wondered if Zakk used it as an inspiration or if he was even aware at all that it sounded the same lol.
@@SpeedDemon88X I’m sure it was an intentional homage. He knows his stuff too well to do that by accident.
@@ltsmash1200 yeah he's well versed in A LOT of music. I see him liking and commenting on many musicians on Instagram I'd never expect he would know, or enjoy.
Zakk: " you know? im like *diddly diddly dee" but then I you know *bwow bwooow din deee* but theres *boop bwim bipitty bwwoww*"
I instantly realized that a non player would hear gibberish. lolol He literally speaks with his instrument. Such an enviable gift.
I did EXACTLY the same thing with Spirit of Radio as a kid. My future new best friend in high school showed me what was up. I always did everything up high when there were open strings involved. My '71 Les Paul Custom had very tinny sounding pick-ups for some reason.
Maybe they were out of phase
I actually lucked into it just noodling. I was like "woah! WTF? Thats Spirit of the Radio!" Having said that theres a zillion others I played wrong. And probably still do. But not many 🤘
I've been playing guitar since I was about 9 years old. I remember being in 5th grade at my classmates house playing Iron Man and Crazy Train while he played drums. I'm in my 30s now after taking a long break (8 months or so) from playing i recently started practicing alot and have really been striving to learn more and progress. I really enjoyed listening to Zach Wilde talk about his journey with guitar and hearing him play, its inspirering.
Go look up Troy Grady if you want to take your guitar playing to a new level. I learned so much from Troy, it’s insane.
Go look up Roy Buchanan
Zakk was born with a guitar. Monster talent, performer and a “Soldier Of Christ”. “Pride And Glory” showed us his incredible talent and the album is one of the best ever. BLS is killer. An all round great guy.
Zakk is a born again Christian?
@@mattcasteel84 Is that important? I’m a born again atheist and play a hell of a lot more advanced shit than Zakk. I still don’t hear why people think he is so great. He’s not an innovator.
Why do people have to end their statement with "all round great guy"
How mediocre
@@bobwaggle2069 who tf are you again?
@@bobwaggle2069 I’m sure you are 🤣
Listening to the best in their profession is always fascinating.
Zakk is one of the best dudes I've ever met. Been around him quite a few times over the years and he's always been a super genuine dude.
What an enjoyable watch. Love hearing people talk about what they love. Super inspiring.
I met Zakk at Metaltronics back in the mid 80's. He was such a genuine nice person. He kindly showed me a great country lick.
He definitely carved out his own sound. Loved his acoustic/vocal stuff too.
"Mama I'm Coming Home" is one of my personal favorite guitar solos. Zakk probably didn't like composing a short and sweet solo for a radio friendly ballad but sometimes less freedom creates a players' best work IMO...
Yep. I can’t play like Zakk but I do have that one down after many hours of practice. I’m working on the solo to “no more tears” now
Ahhh when he breaks into Losing' my mind, I think I lost mine. Been loving his sound for nearly 30 years. He makes good eye candy too.
Argh 'Losin' Your Mind' even. Yeah, Lisa. You done fucked up.
Saw Zakk in Generation Axe -- he killed it. Monster player, incredible tone and vibrato and harmonics. He can sing pretty damn well too. He's the total package
What a man!
What a beautiful man
I concur 100%
Not only is he endorsed by Gibson and Marshall but the man plays his own God damn guitars that makes him a god king wild Saint Rhodes
No I think that's salt and Peppa
@@bryangraf2838 O
Zakk is one of those guitarists the make the guitar look so easy to play the guys a genius !
I'm always happy how Zakk mentions Jake, since he's always ignored sadly by Oz
Always kills me to see a guy like him, that looks like he would have been right at home on an ancient battlefield just mowing people down with a battle axe. And yet so capable of speed, precision, dare I say delicate movements with those big ass hands.
This dude's been mowing people down for 40 years 😂
Well, a guitar is an axe so...yeah lol. It's his battle axe
He looks like a character that is in the Viking series. Just dye the beard and mustache blonde 😂
This gentleman creates the most heavy solo ever in No More Tears song. A masterpiece. 🍻👌🏻
Bls has been my go to band over the last couple of years love zakk’s playing style
Interesting interview; always enlightening to see how professional musicians had to start somewhere and learn the ropes. Wish there were more interviews like this with ZW.
The crunch of the guitar in No More Tears is iconic you to me. I fell in love with your style when you were with Ozzy
When you put a player like Zakk through a clean channel you really get their hear their raw talent and musicality.
Just a dope guy, I'm so blessed to him with Ozzy be nearly 15 years back
I absolutely loved this interview I feel like he is the most underrated he's one of the best so interesting to hear why he used the blues early on... He plays those pentatonics like no one else.. He has the most unique style and now I know why because he didn't want to sound like what was mainstream so he started kicking everything out till he had little left but he took that little bit and squeezed something out that was unique and masterful... Such respect I have
No Rest for the Wicked is still one of my favorite Zack works.
Killer album all the way through with Zakk's best riffs! Godzilla strength tone and blazing solos spraying out, filling the room with sonic mayhem! Fav Ozzy album, along with Diary Of A Madman. Great mention-Eric Love!
