I'm a wine and beer aficionado. I do know a ton about it, I don't go heavy on the sauce but drink affects everyone. I would scrap all of it in a second for being there for other people, the woman and the little family I love. I've realized alcohol is generally bullshit, the people selling it to you are not your friends but are using you in a game of Russian Roulette with the barrel pointed at YOU every single round. You are a transaction to them, same as a slab of meat on the coroner's table. You're nothing to anybody but yourself and the man you're willing to be for others.
My whole life I've looked up to Randy, Dimebag, Zakk, and the goat Ozzy . Last month I lost my best friend and cousin to a lifelong battle with anything she could get her hands on. She lost both of her children. I couldn't do anything for her. I seemed to be enabling her. I hope her story as well as the other stories shared here will help you keep strong. going on 8 years of total sobriety all on my own. AA just made me wanna drink so doing it my way when I was ready is what stuck. This is not about time for me but a permanent lifestyle change and I'm happier than I've ever been. No regrets, if you drink have fun and be careful cause it will sneak up on ya when you're having too much fun. Zakk is right, and I found out the same thing, you have to want it. Here's to life, love and music...Cheers!!!
Been a fan since he first got w/Ozzy in 1988.. Zakk has done something most of my motorcycle buddies haven't as they got older; he learned that father time is tougher than anyone...and he's learned to respect it. God bless ya Zakk...you've actually got live AND tell the tale.
Zakk is the last of a rare and dying breed. The only old school full tilt bluesy metal guitar god still smashing out jams. Truly one of metals precious gems.
I didn't drink or smoke to much just your average teenage amount. But like Zack at 42 yrs, he's only a year older then me. I had a blood clot in both lungs, doctors said if I had not gone to hospital, would not be here today. But I then had another bout of the blood clot 2 yrs ago. Now I am on a pill for life, hopefully will be around for my kid and wife and able to keep rockin on the guitar.
At the end of the video, you can see how much Zakk loves and respects Ozzy! And that's what making music together is all about. Love and Respect. Peace, brother and keep on ROCKIN'...
Sure is.I had to stop years ago with my wild partying ways,I am almost 52 and this is the cleanest and most sober I have been since I was 14.... ! Truth is if a person wants to stop they can or will die trying,IMO.
Love when he said Saint Dime, and Saint Randy. He's showing respect for two of the best that got taken away from us too soon. Thanks dude. You're a class act. Not to mention an amazing guitar player.
Zakk , thanks for saving your life. You're an amazing guitarist, but more importantly you're an awesome human being. We all look forward to many more years of your musical endeavors.
100% necessary. This person did the work and should be able to be proud of themselves. Religion robs people of a very basic human need to feel raw pride in their accomplishments. Nothing has EVER happened by the grace of an imaginary sky man.

Honestly I've never been a huge fan of his style of playing (although it was always undeniably strong and shocking). But at the same hand, his personality, his passion and his attitude have always put me to respect and admire him as a huge human being. And man... what a tremendous lesson he is teaching us now in 2018, after decades building true career and a true life! Long live Zakk Wylde!
Your best music won't come from any substance you take, it may happen DESPITE of it, but not because it. I'm not a popular musician at all , but I have been at it for 27 years and have never played, written, or recorded music while under the influence of anything stronger than coffee. But I do use certain things in my free time. The reason I choose not to during my music time is because I have seen that trap over and over again with my peers. If you develop a habit of getting drunk or high in order to to play your music it will absolutely take you down. You may have a bit of a bump at first , but it won't , and can't last. Trust your self and your talent , and run your ship on clean fuel and it will take you farther than the stereotypes ever will.
MrByaeger Your experience is different from mine. I’ve done things for fun, undoubtedly it at least makes me feel better about what I play and that’s fine. It’s when I give up on music as an outlet and try to numb myself, that’s the trap I’ve seen myself and so many friends struggle with to varying degrees.
I couldn't imagine a world without Zakk. I love this guy. I have been on and off that Wagon they don't even slow the horses to let me back on anymore. Erik fat is good for you. It's the sugar in milk that is bad. I drink heavy whipping cream. 80 grams of fat in 1/2 pint 0 grams of sugar. I'm 6'4, I used to weigh 335lbs now I'm 195lbs thanks to a high fat very low carbohydrate diet. Dont blame the butter for what the bread did.

Will be coming up on my 3rd year sober. My son turns 3 September 6th that's why I wanted it and was ready. No drinks for me. When I'd drink I'd go try to find the biggest dude I could and pick a fight(little man syndrome lol) and then I realized I wanted me to be a good example for my son when he came so that's what I did but you have to really be ready. I'm on my 4th month of no cigarettes
When I was 42, the docs gave me 3-5 years left on my liver. I drank for another 7 months, and got sober, thankfully. 12 years sober now, my life is 100% better. I my health had not turned horrible, and wanted to not be sick, every moment- I'd be dead. Nothing wrong with putting down the bottle, and kicking ass. But, you gotta want it...much love Zakk. 🤘🐵
I made that choice 10 yrs ago and it’s been ridiculously easy because I wanted to quit badly. It took a really bad concussion to start the ball rolling. It doesn’t even tempt me anymore. I am so over it.
Love it. Finally someone with some self control. Don't fucking blame it on anything but you! Calling addiction a desease is just another excuse. Its called man up and control yourself. The drugs don't enter your body unless you put them there!
@@michaelstephen819 You're the only one so far that doesn't agree. I have to assume you're an addict yourself. You need to call it a disease to justify what you do to yourself. I call it poor self control. A strong willed person can control anything anytime. The part you call a disease just makes you want it. It doesn't force anyone to do it. Theres no disease that forces your head down to a table to sniff up a bunch of powder or cook it up a stab yourself with a needle. You need to be a strong willed person to not give in to the urge. Thats why addicts are weak people. You can't control things like cancer or MS. Those are diseases strong willed people can't control. A good person can control what they do with their money or in a lot of cases someone elses money. Thats my point. Like Zakk says be a fucking man and do what you need to do and stop with the excuses.
@@michaelstephen819 BTW The people whom have convinced you that you have a disease profit from you buying into it. Thats a way to keep you coming back. And in no way shape or form are you the victim. The victims are your family and friends. If you have any left.

Know alot of folks just putting it down and lovin life. Best thing i ever did as well. After some time you dont miss it.
12 years sober... Jumped on the wagon and held on, cause whoever was drivin' that thing really wanted me to fall off.
Good for you. Stand proud.
Me too now I drive the wagon ! Don’t miss it either fuckin weird
21 years for me. Hang in there . It does get easier. And I don't miss it one bit.
Hell yeah!! You got this!!
Good job, my respect
My whole life I've looked up to Randy, Dimebag, Zakk, and the goat Ozzy . Last month I lost my best friend and cousin to a lifelong battle with anything she could get her hands on. She lost both of her children. I couldn't do anything for her. I seemed to be enabling her. I hope her story as well as the other stories shared here will help you keep strong. Our angels are gone, but *we* have a choice for the ones that love us, if not for the simple fact, LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL. WE don't need to run, escape, have false courage. When our loved ones have an addiction, so do we.
Love and positive energy!
I pray for Zakk and Ozzy both right now.
"When it starts getting in the way of you ruling the world, that's when you have to say that's the end of this." Damn.
Heavy stuff man.
But go light on the mustard.
+THE BENT EIGHTS go fuck yourself
That sandwich lesson was something! I really loved the father son relationship they have
Respect!!!Im forty and quit drinking but held on to smoking pot...I’m ready to quit smoking pot now and just focus on my health now...And life is as tough as we make it as a whole people on this fucking planet...
Good luck I've been sober for 30 years now. The 70s and 80s were tough.
light on the mustard! love it!
Mad respect for Zakk. Thank you for the series, Revolver.
The music is, and always was, the greatest high. Zak shakes them strings like there is no tomorrow.
Not quite the same I know, but my then 7yr old daughter came to me crying & said “Gram said you’ll die if you keep smoking. Please don’t die” 😳 On 1/1/98 at 3:30pm I put out the last cig in my pack & haven’t touched one since. Family is ALWAYS more important! To all of you that are clean, CONGRATS!! To those struggling, drugs & alcohol are never the answer. You’re worth SO much more! @zakkwyldebls
Amen! If you want to quit alcohol you have to man up and do it because no one can do it for you. You got to want it! It’s not too late to change.
What an awesome dude, Love and RESPECT Zakk!
Live long buddy, we've lost so many already!
Been 7 months sober. Thanks Father Zakk for choosing life. And for giving us the Zakk Sabbath album. SDMF Beyond Forever. Rolling Black Label. West TX chapter!
He really loves and respects Ozzy, he's like a father figure.
love this man,I stopped drinking 9 yrs ago and I love it...every day is struggle though...keep on fighting my brothers!
Only the Lord delivered me from alcohol and I pray for Zakk and his family to find Salvation in our Lord and have a beautiful life with the love of Jesus there guiding the way to heaven and through him may Ozzie find Salvation too with his family and friends and be such a great witness for Christ. I pray for their souls.
going on 8 years of total sobriety all on my own.
I got 5 years as of Jan. 3rd 2019...can't believe the difference, Thank you for sharing Zakk.
Zakk is the last of a rare and dying breed. The only old school full tilt bluesy metal guitar god still smashing out jams.
Truly one of metals precious gems.
Amen brother
My favorite ozzy quote to this day is " Be nice to the people on your way up, because I promise you will see them on your way down".
Be a Man
Spoken like true
Words Of Wisdom.
Bang on Zakk.
I am a young struggling alcoholic and this is everything!
Saint Dime and Saint Rhoads.
truth
Saint Criss Oliva too!🤘🤘
quetedelavie Underrated as fuck!
right in the feels
And Saint Cliff (Burton) and Saint Vinnie P. 😇🎸
"Go Light on the Mustard"
Now, THAT is a BLS album title if I ever heard one
some people need that poke in the eye..respect Zak
I didn't drink or smoke to much just your average teenage amount. But like Zack at 42 yrs, he's only a year older then me. I had a blood clot in both lungs, doctors said if I had not gone to hospital, would not be here today. But I then had another bout of the blood clot 2 yrs ago. Now I am on a pill for life, hopefully will be around for my kid and wife and able to keep rockin on the guitar.
Inspiring on so many levels.
Indeed!!💚🖤
At the end of the video, you can see how much Zakk loves and respects Ozzy! And that's what making music together is all about. Love and Respect. Peace, brother and keep on ROCKIN'...
It's up to you is correct ! I love that dude 🤘🏻
SOCIETYDWELLIN MFR It is up to everyone if you want to shave.
Sure is.I had to stop years ago with my wild partying ways,I am almost 52 and this is the cleanest and most sober I have been since I was 14.... ! Truth is if a person wants to stop they can or will die trying,IMO.
Ross Krause I'm 3 yrs clean from opiates and sober
Love when he said Saint Dime, and Saint Randy. He's showing respect for two of the best that got taken away from us too soon. Thanks dude. You're a class act. Not to mention an amazing guitar player.
8 months, 23 days, and 21 hours for me!
I'm going to pray Zakk stays sober love the man he's just like me
He looks so good now for giving up alcohol
Bless him glad he’s okay loved him since pride and glory days x
Zakk , thanks for saving your life. You're an amazing guitarist, but more importantly you're an awesome human being. We all look forward to many more years of your musical endeavors.
I've got 21yrs sober by the grace of God, my heart goes out to those still in the struggle
You did it by the grace of you! Don’t give the credit to a fairytale.
@@ummmno3871 is that really necessary?
100% necessary. This person did the work and should be able to be proud of themselves. Religion robs people of a very basic human need to feel raw pride in their accomplishments.
Nothing has EVER happened by the grace of an imaginary sky man.
Glad to hear everybody in the comment section is "so many days sober" but c'mon this is one of the best f****** interviews ever.. Nearly brought me to tears, and i think that it deserves more than me, me, me bullshit. Hell..take Zakk for an example on how to be in life when things get hard..Right?
I have nearly 15 years. Alcohol is... The road to no where.
Waste of life and the 27 club is nothing to be looked up to,
Road to fun
Amen
I used to go to a neighborhood bar and there was alot of diehard old timers and over the years they all died off with some kind or another to do with alcohol.
@@sketch334 yeah I’m 37 and knew that my hard drinking days were over, you just have to know when to throw in the towel
Respect for Zakk. Says it plain and simple. Got the right attitude.
Pearls of wisdom from a great guy and an awesome guitar player. Thank you for sharing this.
... and one hell of a sandwich maker apparently.
Gotta love his "Give no bullshit, Take no bullshit" attitude.
That's why he is still alive.
Zakk Wylde calls Sharon Mom because both his parents are dead and Ozzy and Sharon knew Zakk for so long that they think of Zakk as a family member.
Disrespectful to his parents since they bought him a double neck Gibson Les Paul for his highschool graduation.
@@seekn.destroy4064 how?
@@seekn.destroy4064 Both his parents have passed away..He had a great relationship with both of them..
@@seekn.destroy4064 I'm sure Zakk loves both parties dearly. It's not your place to say what is respectful or not in that regard.
Zack is family
Just as rhodes was
They are all fucking family
A real life hero There goes my hero lol 62yrs old Monday BB Kings too! Been off the H 10 plus yrs Went thru that several times Moderation is the key Not a good disciple But still kicking just not as high anymore I I survived Alot of us didn't Thanks Zach
Peace, LUV & light to all
I drank with Zakk when he came to our local radio station - Heinekens and Crown Royal. We toasted Dime. I've got almost ten years sober now. My pancreas finally waved the white flag and that was it - done!
MrByaeger
Your experience is different from mine. I’ve done things for fun, undoubtedly it at least makes me feel better about what I play and that’s fine. It’s when I give up on music as an outlet and try to numb myself, that’s the trap I’ve seen myself and so many friends struggle with to varying degrees.
It's awesome to see that Ozzy's and Zakk's friendship is based on respect and mutal understanding. So tough. Great guys.
Zack sounds so much like Ozzy when he sings! 🤘🏻😍🤘🏻
Zakk*
I couldn't imagine a world without Zakk. I love this guy. I have been on and off that Wagon they don't even slow the horses to let me back on anymore. I have been sober 1.5 years, been walking behind the wagon waiting for another seat to open up, and when it does I will never fall off again. It's a hard road, but it's a road we choose by ourselves. Can't blame anyone for your mistakes.
Zakk*
@@christianshadrick1150 Wow... lol my bad.
Lmao that bit about Ozzy!!! He is amazing! He can be more profound than some would think... love it.
Possibly the greatest guitarist to finish off the 1980's im glad hes still with us
Dude..don't end up like so many others..keep strong..milks better for you🤟🤟🤟🤟
Switchblade romance has a lot of fat in it though.
Switchblade romance what if he is lactose intolerant? Lol
He has had the world at his feet, gifted musician incredible career and alcohol almost destroyed him. He made the right choice and good on him
Truth there, and look how many dope and booze have taken.
We want you around for a long time. R.I.P Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell Abbott. RE-SPECT 👊
I knew him when he was still Jeff Wylandt..."Zak" is the last of the true warriors; willing to put it on the line every night...for the sake of the music; I love you my brother
Remember when we used to have a good time drinking? When you're not having a good time anymore it's time to end it. How you do it is up to you
Love zakk ! that is one of the best tips on getting sober.. no one but you are going help .. until you reach rock bottom and grow up ... it takes a man to get sober.. been sober 36 years... I was 21 years old and almost dead from liver disease... you can do it... thanks zakk for sharing 👍
Zack Wylde quote of the decade!..... "not 24/7 ...like..25/8!" The the new "but mine goes to 11!"
Hey do you hate that his name is spelled Zakk* so you spell his name the total opposite?
“Saint dime, Saint Rhodes”. The love and admiration expressed here
Will be coming up on my 3rd year sober.
God Bless Zakk Wylde 🤘🏼
I made that choice 10 yrs ago and it’s been ridiculously easy because I wanted to quit badly. It took a really bad concussion to start the ball rolling. It doesn’t even tempt me anymore. I am so over it.
Love it. Finally someone with some self control. Don't fucking blame it on anything but you! Calling addiction a desease is just another excuse. Its called man up and control yourself. The drugs don't enter your body unless you put them there!
Google the definition of disease - bookmark and come back when you get old enough to understand it.
