I know this don’t have anything to do with this video but I needed to get it out there, I’ve been hunting with my dad ever since I learned to walk. That was almost 50 years ago. Not long ago my dad brought me over his deer stand and told me he was done can’t do it anymore. The realization of what happened was like a kick in the gut. Every minute you get out in the woods with your father treat it like it will be your last because that day will come.
I remember being the boy who loved hunting more than anything. Now in my mid and accelerating 70s I don’t hunt anymore. It’s just not the fun it once was. I hear what you are saying and get the drift. If Dad’s heart isn’t in it anymore I’d take him at his word. When a man gets to the point that WTW could be a grandson, you know time is marching on. Could be it’s time for other things.
I retired to a farm that was bought as a hunting property. I let a young fellow (age 21 or 22) hunt here and he has killed record book bucks the last 2 years. You might find a youngster hungry to hunt and pass in the tradition. Could be a win/win.
I can appreciate this ... As my Niece said in the eulogy to her Dad, " We didn't know we were making memories all we knew is we were having fun".
Got to say I totally relate to this it was same with me and my dad God I miss those times ever wish you could go back I would for sure stay safe 👍👍
I go back in my dreams...@@davidmackee8575
Good for all you guys that had that experience. It's harder and harder to come by these days. I've always hunted alone and taught myself everything. Though admittedly I'm not that great. And don't have access to much land right now.
Love the 25cal. Dad's deer rifle was a 25.06 and it was a laser in his hands. Enjoy that 257 looks amazing
My dad aswell lol
both of your dads were cultured gentlemen
Congrats - awesome round! I have a 257 and 300 weatherby....don't really need anything else....but don't tell the wife, or the safes would get emptied.
🤣🤣🤣
You’re gonna love that 257! The ammo is expensive as hell but it’s a smoking cartridge.
Soo glad to see this. Not enough about the .257 weatherby.
Amazed you even found ammo in a store.
I enjoy your passion for the Weather.
Weatherby (Stupid spellcheck)
Love my 257 Weatherby Mag and Toliver’s is one of my favorite gun shops.
One of my biggest gun regrets is walking away from a early model Weatherby Mark 257 weatherby mag , with a Weatherby marked scope at The Outpost.
I went back 2 hours later and it was gone. I learned to never walk away from a dream rifle deal if you don’t have to.
That happened to me today on something else 🤦♂️
Love my 257 Weatherby! Most accurate rifle I own. I load my own... 101 gr Barnes LRX at 3800 FPS! Excited to see your upcoming videos on it!
Shewee! I was watching your videos on it today
Would you share your load data on that lrx bullet to another reloader?
Now that's a caliber that is worth reloading! Factory rounds are $$$.
Awesome rifle and cartridge!
Gotta pay to play
Always wanted a 257 Weatherby! Going to buy a deluxe custom when I am able. Can’t wait for a review!
Awesome! Appreciate you watching
@@pappamike6231 Gwreetings brudder! I don't believe I've seen any Weatherby stock with the "thumb rest". YET. I've seen ole 1903A3 30/06 stock with a Palm Swell in the Grip.
Beautiful when a plan comes together.
That’s is a sweet looking rifle, can’t wait to see the sighting in video 👍🏼
When I got mine in 2018, all the ammo available only had 100g TTSX, which is what I got. 5 boxes…it was NOT cheap!
A friend shoots the 30-378 and several years ago each Trigger Pull Emptied $5 USD in Benjamin Notes. Reloading the Brass brought it Down to $1.50 or so. NOW those same Factory rounds are $8 USD. No way around the Costs except get a Dealer License or Remanufacturing reconstructed fired cases with Yur Favorite ingredients. Definitely Not [Cheap] nowadays. Safer Travels brudder.
I love my 257. She has a 30" McGowen slinging 131gr Blackjack Aces. Brass was hard to get there for a bit but I started making them from 7mm rem. You did good on that one. Great vid Whoots.
If you reload, the 120 g Partition is equally effective on deer AND elk. Bang flop. You don’t need to go max load, either. Even a mild load works very well, and the 2 mule deer I’ve seen taken had a very normal entrance and exit wound. No jelly.
There's nothing quite like the moment you finally get your hands on your dream rifle after years of anticipation. Can't wait to see the rifle that has captured your imagination!
😍😍😍
@@WHOTEEWHO Beautiful boolot thrower , Weatherby is quality and that spiral fluting looks awesome have to give us a total weight when you get the scope on
A twizzler barrel and bolt..delicious. That’s a great caliber if you can find and afford the boolots to sling down the range…Looking forward to the nerd out analysis.
The 6.5 Creedmoor will do the job as good or better.
@@craigsellier5973 you 6.5 owners think its the be all , end all but ballistic ratings can prove a different story
I had one for awhile. Great antelope cartridge. I found it temperamental but a great cartridge once I got the load developed . Nice looking rifle.
You remind me when I got my weatherby back in 1980 I was super excited too.
I purchased a Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe in 1980 as well in the 300 WinMag. Absolutely beautiful rifle with the gloss finish and the dark blue barrel etc. I did get an AccuBrake installed by Weatherby and it made an impressive reduction in recoil and rifle rise.
Dang, Roy's favorite. Not a fan of magnum cartridges and already have a 25-06, but I think I would give that 257 WbyMag a shot!!! 😉😉😉
Great looking gun! My grandson has a weatherby in that caliber. It is a great shooter!
Awesome!
Very Nice ! Look foward to the videos of it ! Congratulations on the find.
Always appreciate you watching!
I bought a 340 Wby back in 1991. The smoothest action I have ever come across. It's a Mark V with the best wood and finest bluing. Taken lots of critters with it. Still have it today although it doesn't get used much.
Awesomeness citizen !!!. I’ve READ of the 340 Weatherby cartridge. Neva shot one yet.
Very nice
Same ballistics as a 338 Lapua, but much older of course. It's a cannon for sure. Used it for elk and Mule deer .@@chunglow7646
I recently bought a Weatherby Vanguard and had the options of 257 WB and 243…I went with 243 because I wasn’t familiar…after much research I wish I would have got the 257 instead
You’re probably aware of the fact that the .257 Weatherby cartridges are much more expensive than the .243 cartridges. 💰💰
@@ronsamborski6230 Yes they are…but if I had a 257, I wouldn’t be shooting a the time…just a few times a year to check zero and maybe harvest an animal…
Well, if it helps 243 will run you about $25-$30 for a box of 20. Weatherly is $100-$105 for a box of 20. That is $5.25 per round. You shoot 210 rounds and that is the price of the gun. It would be amazing if they could ever get the ammo price down to earth.
I have only gotten to shoot 1 Weatherby and it was my brother's 7mm....loved it! Can't wait to see the upcoming videos. Just started posting on RUclips some of my videos of a property project.
I vaguely remember somebody taking an early one to Africa and loving it. Wally Taber comes to mind, late 40s or early 50s. The cartridge doesn’t matter. Getting a dream gun is a hoot. Yes, he was a real guy with hunting shows etc.
I love it! I myself have a .257 weatherby in a 24 inch stainless vanguard. I’ve wanted one since I was a kid haha. I like it very much: lighter recoil than my .270, flatter shooting than my .243, energy on par with a .30-06…what’s not to love? I do handload, I’d never pay what they ask for factory ammo in any weatherby cartridge.
Some loads I’ve worked up so far are the hammer hunter 75 grain at a chronographed 4170 feet per second with rl17, the 100 Nosler ballisti Tip at 3700 fps and the 100 Barnes tsx at 3500 fps, both with 7828. I treat all my rifle bores and bullets with hexagonal boron nitride.
Still have some 90 grain absolute hammers and 115 grain Berger vlds to play with. Congrats on picking a winner.
😍😍😍 Awesome !
Looking forward to seeing it out on the range !
The .257 mag is a classic American cartridge. If your a reloader, cases are easy to make from 7mm REM. Mag cases. I have loaded it down to 25/06 velocities and now shooting a 92 grain Hammer bullets at 3700 fps. Just be mindful of barrel life if you shoot a lot of 3600-3700 fps rounds. Who-to Who is a good rifleman and will find a place in his safe always for the .257 Weatherby mag.
Happy you finally got it can't wait for the shooting videos will be fun.
I remember the day I got my 300 Weatherby I was so happy. Saw it on Mutual Of Omaha when I was just a little fella and they shot a Rhinoceros (my memory is three with one shot) that could be true or not, but from that day I wanted one and it was everything I thought it would be and more, the day I got a Bear made it worth the money and the wait I have enjoyed it for years now.
I hope you make some good memories with your 257 Weatherby and it is as good as you thought it would be + some 👍🏻
Nothing else is like a Weatherby to me and the more I shoot mine the better it gets 👍🏻
Great choice Wootee, I've never shot one either but I've been reading great things about them for 50 years!
My dad shoots a 240wby mag. 25-06 is probably my favorite caliber for white tail size critters, and 257bee is its big brother. Really look forward to your videos on it!
240 is mean on Arkansas deer and hogs
Love it - had a hunch it would be a Weatherby! There's nothing better than getting your dream rifle home ... mine's the Weatherby Mark V in 30-378 Weatherby Magnum, the 30 cal M.O.A.B. ... enjoy, bro!
M.O.A.B. Mother of all bing-bangs? 😆
They have a Weatherby accumark at a pawnshop near me for sale at half price right now but the only drawback is it’s left handed but boy is it a killer deal and it’s been sitting there for a couple years so I am still looking at it, sure hope I stop looking at it or else I may end up coming home with it!
I love my 257 Weatherby Mag, easy on the shoulder and fun to shoot. I have a Vanguard and put a Zeiss Conquest V4 3-12 X 56 on it. Took a nice 8 point whitetail with it last year in East Texas using the Nosler 115gr Accubond ammo. Would love to get a chance to hunt somewhere that would allow me to try some longer shots, but I'm not able physically to get around so well anymore. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
I'm happy for you. That's a real nice looking rifle made by an outstanding gun builder.
It's pretty cool watching your channel over the years and to see you get so giddy over another rifle.
Good luck with the .257mag!
I know you'll enjoy those hp groups.
I used to have a 257 wby. Now i hunt with a 7mm rem mag. Anyway, I took several whitetail with the 257 and it knocked them down like the 7mm. I really couldn't tell much difference. The 257 wby is an excellent cartridge and one of my favorites......
Awesome
Awesome... I have a 300 Wby. Love it and hand load for it. I have a Remington 700 25-06 stainless in a mountain stock with removable mag for all the critters on the prairies and mountains here in Alberta. Congrats on the fine purchase of that ultimate quarter bore slayer. Cheers.
It’s so much fun to watch WhoTeeWho have fun with a rifle! This man truly appreciates the a Rifle from.22 and up the fun never ends ! Now, will WhoTeeWho execute some milk 🥛 jugs!
Stay tuned!

Gugs ? Jugs !
Looks like an awesome cartridge, enjoy the new riffle. At my age, I just chase the squirrels around the tree. My Henry 410 single shot, or my Henry Frontier 22 works fine for me. Perhaps I am entering my second childhood, but I seem to be happy just being in the woods & looking forward to enjoying some home cooked stew.
Congratulations!!!! 🎉🎊🥳👍🥳can't wait to see your groups.
Glad I’m not the only one who buys ammo for guns that I don’t own yet! A .257 wby is next on my list
🤣🤣🤣
InDeedy so Sweet Digital Hunting Dreams then. Digital ammo sent by Hummingbird LLC Delivery Svce. A note has a Signature space that absolves ANY loss per Extra Surcharge titled (EQUIPMENT) titled Sticker.
I thought everyone did that. I was buying 30-06 before I had anything to shoot it from
That's awesome whootee! Happy for ya. Should be a tack driver.
Just retired and moved to Wyoming. Dusting off my Weatherby Vanguard in 25-06 which I got as a HS Graduation gift in ‘76.
Perfect for Antelope.
Had a 25.06 in a Ruger heavy barrel varmint rifle - accurate and would reach out, but didn’t like it performance up against my 270 Winchester. Guys I love guns of all calibers and own many, but always end up setting in the deer stand with my 270 Winchester.. I’m weird I guess😜- it sets the standard on my farm!
Well done!! I don't know why, but my 257w is likely my favourite ... something inherently quintessential (trying to avoid saying 'Cool'!), a rapier vs long sword, Errol Flynn vs Jimmy Stewart (though I love my 'Jimmy Stewart' rifles!!), 1968 Jaguar 'E' Type V12 top-down, vs Rolls, fast blonde in convertible vs Ingrid Bergman, etc etc. It's certainly not the 'best' for hunting in many categories of evaluation... but has that something special that dreams are made on!
I’ve never been a .25cal fan myself but whatever you like is what matters. I personally would have went with the newer 6.5-300 Weatherby but I don’t like the idea of one company controlling all the ammo flow and brass flow. Best of luck!!
Congrats on an awesome new bing-bang. That is a real treasure.
Have to say that the way you sold it WTW I hoped it was from the John Rigby stable. 😉
Happy for ya man!!! Not much feels better than getting a new Bing Bang!! I say that all the time now! 😅 Arken makes some really nice 34mm rings!
The .257 Wby Mag is arguably the finest hunting cartridge for deer sized game. Dare to sight it 3 inches high at 100 yards and you'll have a laser beam.
Lazer indeed
Brother, I got away from .30 cal almost 30 years ago when I went to the necked down 25/06. I deer hunt northern Missouri for big bodied whitetail and that round has no problem taking care of business.
None of the Weatherby factory ammo shot better than 3 MOA out of 6.5x300, Hendershots custom ammo in Maryland fixed me up, his 143 Hornady ELD load shoots sub MOA....check them out if the factory ammo is not very accurate.
Roy's favorite and absolutely one of my favorite too. I reacted the same as you when I finally got mine!!
It is a shame they didn't do a 1:7.5 twist barrel for the heavy 257 cal bullets Berger, Hammer, and Hornady have now.
It probably wouldn’t be able to shoot 75-100g well. Hornadys new podcast talks about twist rate and how it affects accuracy.
Blackjack recommended running a slightly slower twist with the faster cartridges so with a 1:8 or 8.5 you could more than likely get decent accuracy with the 110+ offerings along with stabilizing the modern offerings.
I've never connected with rifled like he does. I'm a huge revolver and pistol nut. I get excited about revolvers like he does rifles.
I get it! Everyone has their thing
Eggzackly so brudder Citizen
I love the velocity comparisons just as much as the next guy, but a chronograph tells the real tale. I would like to see when you are doing the ammo comparisons to shoot the selected boo-lots over a chronograph to get the real world velocity.
Yup Love the 257 Bee! One of my favorites. I have every Bee caliber.
Cool Adam can't hardly wait to see the groups that thing shoots
Stay tuned!
Never know what you are going to show up with next. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Thank God you do what you do. I find that you are a good middle ground between the Ron Spomer (strictly hunting, no clowning around) and the strictly tactical guys.
🙏🙏🙏 appreciate you watching
My Dad carried a .257 Roberts for years it was his favorite deer rifle. I know it's not in the same category as the .257 WM, but you just don't hear much about the .257's, at least where I live. I have it now and I just don't shoot it anymore. My .243 does just fine with the smaller Blacktail deer we have here.
I loved the .257 Roberts and the .25/06.
@@mikestanley9176Indeed brudder! Race Horses inna Metallic Breed like SIBLINGS
You get the same look in your eyes as me when I get a new boom stick! 😂
So… did you put it next to the bed that night you bought it home?
Awesome new toy .. congratulations! 👍🏻
What do you mean next to the bed! Mine go into the bed where I can touch it each time I wake up🤔😳😂
I have a 257 wby and have killed antelope and elk with it. It hit very hard for its caliber and is very fast and has a flat trajectory. I think you’re going to love it. I also gave a 240 wby and it’s a screamer as well. Great deer and antelope cartridge
That’s a SLICK stick man. I’m sure it’s a shooter too man, so so so happy to see them making something on the 700 platform! Kinda wish they cut one in the 6.5PRC since I’ve already setup for that… maybe in time, but otherwise I gotta get one in that hot little 7PRC! Congrats!
257 Weatherby Magnum Forester micrometer die on clearance at Midway USA for 89.14 dang good deal!!!! Glad you got your dream rifle.
Get you a one piece spuhr mount for that rig. You won’t be sorry. Nice rifle. Good choice. Save your brass. Reload for it because of ammo availability and price. I have a 300 wby mark v I bought in 1988. Love it. Many deer have been taken with it. All were DRT (dead right there).
I’ve always wanted a 264 win mag or a 270 weatherly mag.
I have had great success with the 257 WBY MAG. Mine shoots lights out with the 115gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip. I have taken deer and antelope all the way up to 650 yards. Super flat trayectory!
Awesome
Nice rifle and caliber glad you found one looks that nice 😮
My stepson has one and LOVES IT.. talk about a fuggin speed demon and a real easy to shoot rifle. Always on the lookout for ammo for him. Rock on 🤠💯🇺🇸
I have the Weatherby Vanguard chambered in .223 with a Boyd's stock and man is it a good shooter. Topped with a Primary Arms 4-14. Perfect for plinking steel.
Great caliber Adam! My buddy has one, in the Wby. Vangard, and it’s 1/2 MOA all day. Smoked a doe in Miss. at 400 yds., DRT. Lazer flat shooting too! Enjoy!
Awesome!
Been pushing you to get one for awhile. You are going to love what it does on deer. It is a lazer beam and hits very hard. I like the 80gr TTSX. Used to use 120gr Partitions but Wby stopped using them.
Can't wait to find out
THIS…has gotta be my favorite gun channel on RUclips!!! Love everything you put out there for our entertainment WHO_TEE_WHO and congrats on the freaking badass new rifle!!
Thanks so much appreciate you watching!
I have a .300 WBY Mag in a Ruger #1 I got years ago. I love it but it's not one to take plinking.
Very nice
I'm a massive Quarter Bore fan. My uncle almost always carries his 257 Weatherby and I already have a 700 Long Range 25-06 along with a 70 Super Shadow 25 WSSM. Planning to build a "light weight" long range oriented 257 for a Wyoming Pronghorn hunt in 2025 and have been between 25-06 AI, 257 Weatherby, and 25 Pronghorn (25 WSM). I wish they would have made the 307 with a slightly faster twist to shoot the 130+ pills that are finally on the market because it would make life a lot easier.
SMGA in Knoxville almost always has 257 Weatherby factory loads in stock. They stock a lot of Weatherby loads
My very first "custom" rifle purchase, guessing around age 26, was a Ruger No. 1 chambered in 25-06. It never had a single round sent down the barrel in that caliber. I promptly, after purchase, had it re-chambered for 257 Wby Mag. Coyotes, Antelope, Deer, Bear and Elk have been taken with. Great Shooter, very accurate, everything you want. But,,,, beware, you are holding Thor in your hand, and if Thor hits in the wrong spot, you;re in for a mess. Still, one of my all time favorites.
Wow I just picked one up as well! Can’t wait for the upcoming videos. Will be watching. Remington 700 cdl. Stainless fluted barel. Put a black hound on it I got from the sale you recommended some months ago.
Awesome
Bet that rig is a LAZER BEEM! Super Super happy for you Boss💯 can’t wait 💥💥💥
On buying a dream gun i had two as I grew up. Not so much the rifle as the cartridge. One was a 250 Savage, the other was the 280 Remington. The 280 i found at Gander Mountian and found a Reminton 725 in 280 Rem had a 3x9 Luepold gold ring scope in Weaver bases and rings with a fancy padded leather sling with a deer head carved into it. Paid $425.
The 250 I could not find or afford to buy new. I found a Savage Model 11 chambered in 243. When I got it home I ordered a 250 Savage Adams & Bennet barrel and tool kit to screw into this Savage. Never shot it as a 243, just bought it to swap bsrrels. Paid $200 for the rifle and $135 for the barrel and tool kit.
Had many other guns over the years, some I miss others not so much.
My dad has a 257 Roberts in a 700 Classic an always done a great job. He prefers the +P 120gr. He always wanted a 257 Weatherby. Sweet rifle....
I loved my 224 weatherby Mag. great for long range plinking.
I agree that the WBY 257 is a greet cartridge I'd luv to have one but I still really want to get that 460 WBY to warm my heart!
This guy gets just as excited about a new rifle as I do! I just purchased a new Weatherby mark V in 7mm weatherby. Enjoy your new weatherby brother!
Very nice!
Pulling at my heart strings… the good ole 257 WBY mag. Can’t wait to see your work with this cartridge. I just got the Weatherby Apex in 257!!!
Awesome!
Got to love a new rifle. I just bought a new bergara in 7mm PRC. So excited for you
That is exactly the caliber and the weatherby rifle with a sunday car kind of wood stock with super polished blueing ahh....oh yeah can't wait for the rest, T
This is a wicked bing bang , a barrel burner but nonetheless a AWESOME round. Hits hard , shoots flat and wont rearrange your brain cells with recoil
Fantastic rifle can't wait to see you making your own loads for this great rifle
A favorite round . 2 things .. Avoid ultra light bullets & allow Plenty of time between shots at the range if you want decent throat life. I love 117gr Sierras in that and the 25-06
My 257wby is my favorite. I have a few other wby rifles but the .257 is the ultimate deer cartridge
I love my 25 cal my 25-06 is my baby but my 257 is as well it's a laser beam I hand load everything. 117 gr hornady sst and interlock .it can be hard to find brass so I've converted alot of 7mm rem mag brass it will be .005 short until you shoot it then its right on the oil case length
I have a project i plan to take care of first, but following that I am really wanting a 30-06 one of these. I have been waiting on a factory aics dbm bolt gun 30-06 for a good while now. very reasonable price for the features.
Looks like a great rifle. Congrats! I am thinking of this rifle in 7 PRC as my next addition to the collection. Enjoy.
Wow. That’s really cool. Hope you have fun with your shooting it.
I've been waiting to see videos on the 307 weatherby rifle, I'm set on it being my next rifle. looking forward to seeing how it performs!
I would only use those Hornady’s for varmits or target. That 257 has so much velocity those bullets will probably explode on contact
" . . .explode . . ."
Fragment ? ☆
@@fjb4932 more than likely. That’s a 300 wby mag necked down to a 25 caliber. That is a whole lot of powder pushing a small projectile
If the Model 307 builders action gets more attention from barrel makers, specifically in a Proof prefit, I’m building a 6.8 Western off it.
Another great Weatherby rifle the 257 is the best deer cartridge ever made.
I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. I have a 257 Vanguard now, but in May of this year I ordered a Mark V Deluxe custom in 257 Wby. Can't hardly wait till I get it in my hands. Got about 30 more days before it is supposed to ship. In my Vanguard it loved the 120 gr. Nosler Partition. It also shot the 100 grain Barnes great, but the 120 gr was in the 3/8" group at 100 yards and the Barnes at around .75". Either one was acceptable but it just liked the 120 best.
Awesome!
Very beautiful rifle brother cant wait to see the balistics on that bad boy comparing 270 an other calibres . I have a 270 an loved it for a while now .257 looks like a fenominal round an rifle it's in. I might buy a 416 Rigby or a ar platform for my next rifle incase big animal encounters in the forest . Or hunting big game . Heard an seen the 8.7 is a boogy machine at a 1. Twist rate so I'm excited to see the 257 in action on getting the good food to the table an balistics an performance an compared to other cartridges. Was a exciting amazing video brother keep up the awesome work . An definantly a calibre worth reloading . 🤘❤🙏🇺🇸
