  • Weatherby have complimented their Mark V action rifle series with a new sporting rifle at a very good price point with plenty of features that real hunters will want. Adjustable cheekpiece composite polymer stock with Remmy compatible action profile and spiral fluted barrel and bolt look great yet achieve a very good handling and nimble rifle out in the field. the Trigger Tech trigger system is superb and accuracy is guaranteed for MOA with an AICS compatible magazine for convenient. All in all a really well priced and appointed hunting rifle from Weatherby in an array of standard and magnum calibres.

Great review and well done...one small thing to point out is that the M-16 extractor actually compromises the "three rings of steel" safety feature of a 700.

As a newly licensed Canadian gun owner, I've been shopping for a 30-06 but found out all ranges within 1hr of me limit their calibers to 308. I understand there's a big jump in recoil, but since suppressors/silencers are illegal here, even for toy pellet rifles (don't get me started), I was wondering if there's such a thing as a 30-06 rifle that will shoot a 308 round? Your in-ear plugs seem to be suitable what with the suppressor. Oh to have that comfort, especially in hot sweaty weather.
I have been watching many similar channels on this topic, and I must say this is my absolute favorite. You get to the point. You show your shots in reasonable sequence - at least 3 seconds before the shot, 3 seconds to show the result - not a long meandering lecture (like this comment has become...).You display your velocities. You show the cartridge details. The hardware. The distance to target. The honest groupings, and admitting when you might have botched a stray one. I learn so much better with this format. Oh, and you actually pay attention to keeping the audio & video high quality. You should be paid for instructional courses to train hunters or police snipers. You should have seen the course material for my gun safety course - I believe Regan was just arriving at the White House.
But one thing is strangely inaccurate - you're in the UK, and there's this beam of sunlight all over the place. Are you certain you're not in France or Spain?

Yep it’ll fit right in with all those spiral fluted, Cerakoted, adjustable stocked, trigger tech trigger rifles made by premium manufacturers that Walmart sell 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣
For circa $1300 this is an amazing rifle

I have to disagree. Action is comparably smooth to a B14 (which is 50% cheaper). The stock is not fit for purpose, needs to be relieved as the barrel slightly contacts the stock out of the box on my rifle. Stock lacks stiffness, even if relieved I would not want to use it with a bipod. Stock of Bergara Hunter 2024, Sierra and Sporter is a lot stiffer. 😢

@@Brushtail2335 whenever I hear this I wonder about people’s understanding of how physics works - stock rigidity is fine as no one should be squeezing their barrel to the stock when shooting, and doing so does not mimic any forces that occur when shooting a rifle. This ridiculous practice is something novices started doing to sell European rifles with oversized inlets and it really caught on - it’s right up there with bolt wiggling (which is also pointless in relation to demonstrating relevant qualities of a rifle).
No your stock shouldn’t touch the barrel - but this just means it’s not been put back together correctly; action screws lightly in bump the butt lightly to ensure the action is seated properly in the inlet, then front action screw first to 35inch/lbs, then rear action screw - if the barrel then isn’t straight and free-floating in the channel return it to Weatherby as their customer service is extremely good.

@@dinkyfishing9396 No worries, I do know how to shoot and have multiple riflestocks to compare. This stock is almost as flimsy as the old Hogue overmolded. For a few $ in additional production costs, this could have been avoided and other manufacturers show that this is absolutely doable (for a lot less total costs). Weatherby chose to cheap out on the stock. When hunting, shooting over a bagpack in alpine terrain, or a rock, or whatever presents as a shooting rest this stock will always require additional focus and attention on the barrel still being free floated as the barrel channel is unduly tight plus the stock lacks the necessary rigidity (which is a lot less relevant when using a rifle with a stiffer stock). Just my 2 cents.
