This $400 Combo Rifle Gets 0.5 inch Groups!!! (Comes With the Scope) Развлечения
I'll admit it, I still think the stocks are ugly. My brother purchased one in .243 a couple of years ago. I vocalized my doubts about that rifle all the way to the range. The stock is comfortable to get behind, the barrel doesn't heat up too quickly, and the groups are always tight. After sighting it in, I never spoke badly about that gun again.
Bout to purchase one right now from Bud's in .243, savage is running a $75 - $100 rebate on the AXIS 2 for Father's Day.
Wait til you gotta cycle it that’s when the real fun begins with a savage lol
It's definitely not the lightest bolt throw, but it isn't any worse than my Mosin's or Carcanos. Just man handle it a bit, and it works.
I don't care for the stock myself but could accept it.
@@blakegregory969 It's definitely not a showpiece, but I did find it comfortable and functional.
WTW you’ve turned out another excellent video of a rig that is budget friendly and affordable by most hunters. Keep turning out your great videos that are for the masses of hunters! 👍👍👍
Man on a budget gotta watch his pennies these days , that’s a good start to getting them back straps in the freezer, great video 👍
Thanks for watching
Have about 1000 rounds through my TC compass. Original price with scope. $250. The 5R rifling has shot just about every round flawlessly. My standards are high after perfecting my ability on the Marine shooting team. The three most accurate rifles i have shot have been under $300. Even more accurate than the Rem 700 (M) variation.
Savage and ruger have upped thier game in the hunting rifles. Lets see them carry that through other models.
Brother , I bought my T.C. Compass for the same price point . I was surprised to shoot sub moa with it . Semper Fi !
Have the same results with my TC Compass. Less than 1" groups everytime. $300 for the rifle and $350 for an Arken EPL4 scope.
My TC Compass 6.5 CM 2 shots every deer season 1 to verify and 1 to drop em. Super accurate. With Vortex scope.
My compass is actually stamped on the revicver as a smith and Wesson. In know they owned TC. Is anyone else's stamped Smith and Wesson?
@@JeremyGibson-ni5uu same.
My Remington 700 in .223 came with a scope and I was shooting it and I shot it first thing was dead center, I shot again and didn’t see where it hit, this is at 100 yards on a coldwell led sled, shot 5 more times and I thought it was missing the target, so I aimed up and shot it hit above the bullseye. All the shots I thought were missing were going straight through the same hole….i was amazed 😮
I love it when a $400 rifle makes all the $2000+ custom fanbois scratch their heads and kick rocks. I have an Axis youth in 7mm-08 that does the same while still getting 3000 out of a 120 grain Nosler BT.
I love it too!
My first new rifle was a Remington 788 in .222. That model outshot 721's any day of the week. Crisp, sharp trigger and $89.95. Graced with a $49.95 Herter's Inc scope 4X12 and many digger squirrels met their demise. I was making $150/mth room and board on a sheep ranch just after 18th birthday. 7 squirrels cut or eat enough grass to feed a ewe.
@JDanielsOffGrid Let me guess that you're from Down Under . The 222 cartridge is nearly unheard here in the States nowadays , and sheep herding is more of an Australian thing than in America . The last time I visited Australia was in 1994 when I was in the US Navy .
Nice representation of Savage ! 👍WTW
👍👍
Last season I ordered the "plain vanilla" Axis in .308 with the Weaver 3-9 scope. The rifle delivers a lot of no-frills quality for the price. The bolt action is butter-smooth and the factory trigger breaks very clean. I upgraded the optic to a 1" Vortex 6-18x with the dead-hold BDC reticle. The Savage scope add-on is inexpensive enough that you might as well order it even if you plan to upgrade the optic later since you'll likely spend more just for a Pic rail and a set of Weaver rings and not end up with a decent spare scope. When I'm doing everything right, I get sub-MOA accuracy with the Hornaday American Whitetail 150 grain I typically shoot. I couldn't be happier with my Savage Axis WTW. Your review was spot-on.
I have the same rifle in .308. I love it and it is suuuupper accurate. It loves the 165g Federal Fusion ammo.
My son has a 300 PRC and it's a beast, that ain't what broke your hand, was it? Here in Alabama our shots are not that far most of the time. We have people talk about the high end rifles they buy for deer catching. Good to see proof that you don't have to break the bank to have a good deer rifle or just a good shooting rifle. As usual, great video.
havent had an axis but the 110 is the best of all time. Love Savage
👍👍
Are you saying the 110 is better than that Axis shooting wise?
from my experience their is no such thing as a light weight accurate hunting rifle, its a myth. You want accuracy or light weight? you choose
Savage makes plenty of 110's that will shoot 1/2" groups with the right load in 3 shots that are fairly light weight. Want to cut another pound and not hit the broad side of a barn go ahead. I thought us hunter/ shooter types could handle 2 more pounds.
@@WHOTEEWHO WhoTeeWho, you know what Im talking about cause you've done it. Savage used to make some crap way back in the day but since they bought some nice German made barrel making machines about 20 years ago, they rule. Out of the box accuracy untouched
Thank you again for your quality informative videos! I sure enjoy them!
Appreciate you watching!
500,000 subs is amazing but this guy deserves more for all of the quality content he puts out. I just wish he would discover Tikka.
Thanks so much. Appreciate you watching bigtime
Considering that I have seen mostly sub-$700 rifles on his channel, Tikka is a bit above the normal testing budget.
@@AkSailor428 yes mostly very budget oriented rifles that he can get fantastic groups out of. But he does have Weatherby's and a Sako S20.
The 500k+ isn’t the real number. Without the YT shenanigans this should be a 0 more
@@AkSailor428blued are 650 online and for just a couple hundred more you get a substantially better rifle than these budget offerings. Tikkas were designed for killing Russians they just work
I love my Savage Axis 2 chambered in 30.06 . Awesome 👍😎👍.
Thanks for the Video Adam 👌. Cheers 🍻🇨🇦🙏😇
I have not seen a Savage that shoots poorly. Maybe some are out there, but I never had anyone tell me they were bad. I have two and they are no frills, but deadly accurate.
My T/C Compass .270 with a Vortex Crossfire II 6-18 shoots 1/2" groups with Walmart ammo with a hot barrel. Costs about $380 total.
What ammo for the 270 please and thank you
😂😂
I thought they are out of business?
@@yangionet8116 they are
They are out of business but can be bought used. Remington Core Lokt and Federal Power Shock 130 grain.
Savage is my go to rifle company, everything from my rimfires to the centerfires are excellent shooters and I have had no problems with them
Total agreement👍
Always a pleasure watching your videos. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I own 2 Savage Combos and love them both. My model 93 in 22 wmr is a fantastic rural back yard varminter, and last year I bought a Savage Axis in 308. I put an Mcarbo 2.5 lb trigger spring in, which is better than my accutrigger on the model 93. Over the winter after deer season I replaced the Weaver 3x9 with a Leopold 2x7 which I can't wait to sight in. Mostly woods hunting up here in rural Maine, and the cheap scope at 3x was too much for quick access in my book. And a little dull compared to the Leopold.
Thanks for the video. Love seeing how a budget gun CAN be good, especially for us old time fixed income seniors.
Great story and thanks for the info 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Very nice set up.
Nice grouping. I have the savage II XP in .308. It's wicked awesome, but the barrel heats up fast. Groups start to get a tad high.
Sight the 6.5CM in at two hundred and no holdover needed out to 275 yds.
I thought he should have left Savage's elevation unchanged, zeroed the windage, and that would have been good for point and shoot on deer sized target out to ~225yd...
50/200 zero on bolt action 6.5 would be good. I do 36/300 on AR15 556 for predators.
@@4ager505 The deep woods hunters like the 100yd. zero.
6.5CM is the current fanboy round de jour.
That's amazing performance for that price.
I have 4 of these AxisII rifles I have this same rifle in 6.5 but changed the scope out to a 4 x 12 NIKON. This one is a great shooter, doesn’t matter much what I shoot through it , it shoots the best w the Federal non typical 140 gr . I have a 308 w the factory bushnell banner on it & it shoots 1/2” or under groups all day everyday w the Winchester soft points 150gr. The other 2 I have are a 243 & a 7-08 both shoot good but the 7-08 is really finicky w ammo . I’m having to shoot the Hornady SST’s in it , everything else I’ve shot in it is about a 3-5 inch group! It’s awful , the SST’s shoot a consistent 1.5 “ group , I even changed the scope out to a Vortex Crossfire 4x12x44 . Only axis I’ve had that isn’t a good shooter
The Axis II is an absolute great gun! Me and my dad own 4 of them. Mine is chambered in 270 and I love it!!
I have a savage axis 308 win. It is the first generation axis that doesn't have the accu-trigger, but that being said, that dude is a tack driver. Love that rifle!!!!👍
Awesome
I went to my local supply store. Got me some small springs. Replaced the spring. Lubed it all up. Scary light trigger as a result. Love my axis
I have the savage axis in 308 win. also. I did a trigger job on it from a company in Florida. Now it is a tack driver. I am glad I bought the Axis
See MCarbo for a trigger kit for the original Axis.
@@johncmitchell4941 Thanks, that is where I bought the kit. Very easy to change.
This could very well be my rifle for my first deer season. I'm really impressed by it, and I think you're channel content is solid and professional. Hi from Gallatin TN.
Appreciate you watching
GREAT RANGE TEST !!! Love those Savage Videos. I have 2, one in .270 & one in .30/06.. Both 3/4 minute of angle out to 400 yards with Hor nady ELDX or Berger Handloads. Using Arken Optics 6x24 Glass with 20 moa Arken 1 piece mount. 6.5 is to light for me for Alaska Brown Bear or Elk . Also the /06 with A/P rounds in M1 Brownings was used to shoot down Japanese Aircraft at more than a mile by PBY Patrol Flying Boats that my Dad serviced in WWII. DEO VENDICE from an East Tennessean.
Great lil budget guns. I just picked up 2. 1 in the 243 and 1 in 223 the fde with the black spatter on them wit the rebate right now they are 250b plus tax. Can't beat that. Nice and accurate plus they don't have heavier barrel. Also have 6mm arc.. tack driver
Savage! wow so many so good !!
These are the great videos Im here for thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Nice job with that scope!😮❤❤❤
I can’t believe the factory bore sight was that close.
Pretty awesome
brotha adam , great rifle n great vid n content as always again my brotha , i love learning new things about your rifles n systems , i have not shot em since the 80's with my daddy der huntin n such back then , he always used/had bolt action 30.06 to bring em down ! , talk soon bro > tom !
THANK YOU bruddaman n LUV YA , n you keep em coming i love em all 1 million % , talk soon > tom !
Gee, Savage did a good job on that bore sight. Those are nice groups 👍🏻!
Savage makes some nice shooting rifles.
The last 2 groups overlayed over each other to make a single 6rd group still looks to be well under 0.75”… wow… that rifle is stacking dots!
🎉🎉🎉😊👍🏼
Very good video Hoot !
Wow surprised that the scope was on point. Savage have some good ones. Thanks for the info and video. Hopefully the 🤚gets better soon . 👍🇺🇸
Great video! Love my axis in an mdt chassis
It’s been a minute since I’ve tuned in , but these Savage brands have me thinking I may have to purchase one in the 308 or 270 . Great video like always WTW . Cheers 🇨🇦
I think it would be neat to shoot a couple groups straight out of the box, then torque everything on the gun and scope to spec and then shoot another couple groups
Wish I could find an Axis with scope at that price in Houston! I do have a Mossberg Patriot in 308 with a wood stock and a Vortex 3-9x scope that I bought from Academy on one of their promotions for $449. Shoots into an inch and I love it. An Axis would ne nice to add to the gunsafe. Stay blessed always, sir! Your reviews are the best because they talk about guns that us ordinary folk can afford to buy and enjoy!
Tons online even cheaper right now brand new
Definitely a killer deal and a good shooting rifle. Great video
A nice factory set-up. And a nice shooter.
For that money I guess I’m just gonna have to pick one up.😂🤷♂️Hope the hand heals quickly my dude!
I have 2 of these. Both in 233. One is still a 223, the other was a donor for a 6x45 build. Its with the wood stock option
I've got a few Axis combos.. absolutely love them for what they are & yeah.. accurate outbof the box
Savage is excellent right out of the box, plus good accu trigger.
I have the exact same rifle, except that I upgraded mine by adding a nice Boyd's stock and swapped the scope for a Vortex Crossfire II 6X18 power scope. Mine is also a tackdriver, and my favorite rifle to take to the range and have some fun with it.
I have one just like it in 350 Legend. A couple of clicks to the right and i was dead on at 100 yards. I also have a 110 in 270. I love them both, nail drivers!
I have a 110 VSX HUNTER XP in .243 and I love it. The 110 XP comes with a Vortex Diamondback 4-12X40 instead of the Bushnell 3-9X40 that comes on the Axis II.
Nice shootin with a banged up meat mitten, hurt to watch.. Ol’ boy bangs up his meat mitten and still crankin out videos for us. 💪..
Savage rifles are no joke, and been that way for a long time. The ones without the accutrigger are not so good but the accuracy is there if you can work through the trigger.
I hang out in the prepper channels as well. I laugh at the ones claiming you need a $2,600 AR to prep properly. I just think they are living in a fantasyland, watch to many movies and watch to many video games rather than going out and seeing what Bubba’s from all over this country can do with a $400 rifle like this and have been roaming through the trees and wide open prairie chasing white tails and all sorts of other critters for decades. And the sheer number of rifles like these and Ruger Americans sold.
Im not saying I don’t own some nice rigs in the AR variety. But I have a bit of common sense and understand statistics.. lol. A lot of rifle for 4 bills..
Always fun to have your bullot slinger really shoot well . Great video keep em coming 👍
Thanks for watching
Amazing shooting. $400 totally amazing accuracy
My original Axis .308 is MOA accurate with hunting ammo and the MCarbo trigger kit provides zero creep and a super clean break.
Nice work, i have a Savage Hunter in 308 that shoots like this gal! Really enjoy it.
I picked up this exact rifle package last year…I was almost shocked how accurate it was right out of the box. I added a cheek riser and stiffened the stock with epoxy and it made it even better.
Awesome
My Savage Axis II precision in 6.5 is a tack driver too. I have about 2500 rounds through it, and it hasn’t skipped a beat.
Awesome!!!
Great Job!
Another great video! Hope your hand gets better soon.
Thank you!
What a great deal! Thank you for this. I think many folks don't appreciate Savage. They make excellent guns! WTW❤ U BROTHER
Got my daughter one and saw the same. The buggers can shoot and what ever we stuck in it, it shot small groups. Made some 90 grain nosler for it and they were sweet.
I've always loved savage firearms.
Love the budget rifles! I just wish more companies would hop on board the 7mmPRC train in their budget rifles.
I have a few of the 1st generation Axis. My 243 is the most accurate rifle in my safe. Consistently puts 0.3" groups with 85 grain Sierra HPBT. Love the out of the box accuracy, and being inexpensive makes it a great hunting gun that you don't mind getting a ding or scuff on.
Thanks good video
I really like how you test "normal" guns. Not everyone can afford $1800 for a rifle and $2000 for a scope that seems to be all the rage these days. I'm kinda hard on guns and not a fan of safe queens.
Budget rifles sure have come a long way. As good as those groups are, it's not even all that uncommon to see groups like that from a budget rifle these days. What an era to live in. Heck, even the Bushnell Banners are pretty good for what they are. I'd love to see you use that 3-9x Banner at 1,000 yds. 😉 Talk about a challenge. Great video as always, Adam. Keep up the great work! 👍
Very impressive 👍
Savage sure do make accurate budget friendly rifles, tempting but I'm hooked on my howa actions
Well done Hooty. Some people may say that Savage rifle's aren't the most pretty looking guns. But one thing I know is that Savage make some of the most accurate rifles out there. This is no exception. For the price and the accuracy with bread and butter Remington ammo this would make a fine all weather deer rifle and with the accuracy with the Remington ammo I wouldn't even bother hand loading. Great video and thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching
I got the savage 110 in 6.5 Creedmoor as well and put it in a Magpul hunter stock and it picked up almost a half Moa. With my reloads with 100 rgg Amax, bullets and bargain powder I’ve got it down to .36 moa. With 143 Eldx and H4350 it shoots .46 moa.
Nice group , 👍
I've got a early 80s Savage 110 in 30-06 with a Votex 4-12 and it drills tacks!
Years ago, a fellow brought a Walmart gun to the shop to mount scope and sight in. Walmart rifle in 270, Walmart bases and rings, Walmart scope, and Walmart Remington ammo. Long story made short, it shot in the 2's. Hard to find any kind of gun that will start in the mid 2's.
Hey man, be careful with that hand, broke a similar spot. I didn't go easy on it and now it can sense the weather, if you know what I mean. We need you with a good trigger hand! Love the channel, always great stuff outta this channel
Appreciate you watching. It is hurt bad
I'm seeing 156 gr 6.5 CM loading from Berger and Sellier and Beloit. I hope you test those options.
Always loved savage's products they have a excellent value to performance and features ratio. Can't go wrong with a savage and won't cost an arm or a leg.
Great vid. Hope your thumb heals good and fast!
🙏🙏🙏
OL dead eye,nice shooting WTW🤙
Really nice rifle.
Years ago I bought a Savage 'Youth' sized .243 Combo. It must have been made & setup on a good day because it like any ammo I put through it & consistently print Sub-MOA groups. 👍👍
Sweeeeet
They shoot really good
LOL! I interpreted "Combo Rifle" as one of those rifle/shotgun thingy's, like the old Savage 242. 😂
As for the rifle you actually reviewed, I'm hearing better and better things about those Axis II rifles.
Savage does it right. 👍
Another accurate Savage... soon i'll dust off my Dad's old Savage .270 (last used to take a doe mule deer in Toponas Colorado 1983) and see how it shoots.
Still have the vintage Federal ammo box from that hunt.
Thank you
So Hootee, for what its worth, i print my own targets (i have an old printer that i can refill the ink in), and instead of using + shapes for targets, I use X shapes. that way i can exactly align the scope with the target. also, if i have to shoot at a small dots, i lay the lines of the scope up so that the dot is in the corner (you have to remember which corner so you get consistent results) of the crosshairs of the scope. Shooting is so much fun. it sucks that you broke your hand.
Cool ! $400? WOW! WITH scop!
Savage rifles have been a great value for years and years.
The Glock of bolt actions. Great video as always thanks again!
🙏🙏🙏
Looked at an Axis ll 30-06 in the local WallyWorld the other day.
I think it was $479 but still seems well worth it, just hate the thought of buying any kind of gun from them.
My wife has an original Axis in.243 that I've shot a couple 5 shot groups under an inch with. Savage definitely puts out some great shooting rifles for the money.
I have the same rifle, with a grey stock. The 6.5 CM Savages seem to prefer bullets in the 140 grain range--mine likes Hornady ELD Match (It has expensive tastes!).
Wow ! Nice
Pretty nice day at the range !
Yes it was!
That works well. Thanks
Thanks for watching
That’s the kind of accuracy you can shoot the gun out a hostage takers hand with. WOW. That’s good Adam.
Another Great Show ' 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Talk about “Affordable Accuracy”. Doesn’t get much better than that. Especially with a basic hunting style 3-9x40 scope and an inexpensive rifle.
My brother has the exact same rifle for his youngest son.
These are perfect rifles to throw in a Boyd’s gunstock. I have been thinking about that in either 350 L or 400 L since I now live in Ohio, which is a straight wall state. 😎🇺🇸🦌
What I do on all my Savages is I put a 3-9-40 Vortex on mine and it shoots just as good as most expensive guns! I also change the rings to Monstrum! American made and they hold very true!
impressive lil ole rifle.. especially getting under 1" groups 👍
