My favourite rifle for a long time has been a 6mm-06. The big advantage over 25 caliber is the availability of bullets. A friend of mine who is a PH in Namibia and uses his with the 90 Scirocco and takes everything up to red hartebeest. Weatherby should offer a 6mm RPM.

Ernst Scholz, the R93 Blaser was also offered in 240Wby.Why not advising Weatherby on beinging their 240Wby. out with the 1:7,5" barrel twist and do it again in their big Mark V action(9 Locking lugs) and not in the Mark V (6 locking lugs).I had three different once and multiple barrels through it.Shot tons of game(culling mainly!) and a lot of trophy animals with it with clients!Superp ladys round and with 100gr bullets it did splendid on all plainsgame.(Up to Kudu,Waterbuck,Wildebeest,Zebra and Oryx)I know lots of people pulling their eyebrows up now,no reason with 100gr and good shot placement,100% and amazed all clients and other PH's.Especially with 100gr to 115gr bullets and a 1:7" or 1:7,5" twist it is as deadly as they come!!
I have a story..kinda long but worth the read. a few years ago I want to an estate sale. In the sea of lever actions up for grabs I noticed a LEFT handed weatherby mark V. I could tell it was an old one. It has a blued Leupold vx1 3-9x40 scope and had a some light rust/putting on it. I paid 800 dollars for it. As I am a left handed shooter and thought it was neat. Turns out that was the cheapest gun sold that day When I got home I noticed the barrel stamp was missing but was sold as a 300 wby mag. I wasn't sure so I did some research on the serial number. Turns out that serial batch was made in 1964 and only chambered in .240 mark 5 deluxe and made by jps in germany. That was the first time I ever heard of the cartridge. I sent it in to get cleaned up/checked. I was informed it had been re barreled in 300 wby mag. At the same time I sent the scope to Leupold and shared the story and looking to restore the scope to keep it period correct but they we not able to but sent me a brand new vx1 in return which I thought that was cool. Turns out the original owner was still living and not far from me. I was put in touch with him and he gave me the whole story! He shot the barrel out shooting at prairie dogs out west and decided he wanted rebarrelled in the 300 to chase elk. He tossed the original barrel but had 150 pieces of fired brass in the original boxes in 300 fired from that rifle and sent me home with it. The boxes are super old school looking . So now i pretty much have a brand new 1964 9 lug German made mark 5 that shoots 1" groups toped off with a Leupold vx5 hd and set up for long range. I love the thing.
Please do the 257 Weatherby Magnum. I shoot a 264 Win Mag for decades. Bought a 257 Weatherby Magnum and now own 3 (kids like them as well). I prefer the 115 Nosler Ballastic Tip and Partition loaded with RL 26 and 215M. Velocities near 3,450 FPS. I also like the 100 grain Swift Scirocco II.
Im pretty sure at this point Ryan has talked me into buying 6 rifles chambered in 6 different cartridges. I already ordered 240WBY reloading components.......
The 240 wby you can re bbl any 270/30-06 to 240 wby. The bolt face is exactly the same. 240 wby is a 30-06 case with a belt necked to 243 and there fancy shoulder. With a 26 inch bbl you got an amazing western deer/pronghorn rifle

@@bchecker6307 only knew 1 guy growin up that had a 270. Everybody else had a 30-30. Always wanted a 25-06. 45 yrs later finally got one and im so glad i did. Actually did a custom savage 110 build. Its sweeter than honey on pancakes
Not a caliber familiar with been very interesting to learn about.
Cooper Arms made 240 Weatherbys also. Mine is made in West Germany and shoots great.
One of my favorite calibers!
1988 I got socks older than
him! This round is wicked fast and a barrel burner!
My uncle owned a 240 Weatherby Mag and he loved/swore by it.
Very impressive amount of knowledge
An excellent cartridge which has stood the test of time
Man you guys gotta do a cartrage talk on some of the African dg and pg cartrages from the big bore black powder erra to the nitro express lines, up unti today. I would love a talk on all of the 9.3 calibers, especilly the 9.3x62, 9.3x74, even the 9.3x64 brenneke, and 9.3x66 sako....and defenatly the 404 Jeffery, 416 Rigby, 416 Rem mag, 458 win, 458 lott, 505, 600. 700 nitro express...and everything in between and on either side...lol i have been asking forever now, and i know there is a truck load of history, data, and content between all of those calibers.
Absolutely love the 240 weatherby!!
Have one in a mark v accurate and like the cartridge alot.
Have you done the 257 Weatherby Magnum?
That’s the one I’m waiting for
Would love to hear about the 7.5 Swiss
The .240 is great. My wife shoots one in a Mk. V Camilla. Deer & Antelope slayer supreme!
That was a very interesting subject.
I was informed it had been
re barreled in 300 wby mag.
That's a great history on that rifle.
Enjoyed you guys, good job. Good vid
🤜 🤛
Great podcast, thanks
How about you cover the 7.5x55 (Swiss) / GP11
Thanks Mike
You should have a talk about the 243 catbird, the 240 is a great round I would love to see a fast twist version to stabilize the 110gr a-tips.
Very good knowledge on this podcast.
I'd love to see a similar vid on the .257. thanks!
For sure! We'll add that one to the list!
Do more weatherby
Please do the 257 Weatherby Magnum. I shoot a 264 Win Mag for decades. Bought a 257 Weatherby Magnum and now own 3 (kids like them as well). I prefer the 115 Nosler Ballastic Tip and Partition loaded with RL 26 and 215M. Velocities near 3,450 FPS. I also like the 100 grain Swift Scirocco II.
Im pretty sure at this point Ryan has talked me into buying 6 rifles chambered in 6 different cartridges.
I already ordered 240WBY reloading components.......
Another vote for Roy’s favorite the 257
I've heard yall talk about the WSSM's, what about the 25WSSM? 22Nosler, 22-250, 25WSSM?? Looking for the ultimate small bore rifle. Love the shows!
Thanks for tuning in! We can definitely add those to the topic hopper and see what we can do to get a talk going about them!
The 240 Weatherby mag cartridge now sounds interesting to me.
