I think both can be true. I honestly think being needy is good after the relationship has had time to solidify and grow. Chasing = something you do at the very beginning of the relationship that is too much. Needy = loving someone slowly and naturally, and just enjoying a ton of that reassurance and love!

Also worth noting that even if you're not expecting them to contact you 24/7 or having that deep connection right off the bat.... make sure to still respect YOURSELF. That's why I eventually figured out that crushes are a waste of time and energy. Since I don't let myself get disillusioned by them anymore, they never get built up in my head anymore, so I really don't have -- or suffer from -- crushes anymore. I highly recommend it.

I absolutely agree, it’s hard when you’re with someone who also runs hot and cold. So sometimes they’re responsive and you feel like you’re getting somewhere, then there’s a prolonged distance and you disconnect... only to reconnect, disconnect and the cycle continues. I don’t have time for those kind of relationships anymore because it absolutely makes my anxious attachment flair up because it’s so inconsistent! I don’t expect to be a priority, but I also don’t want to be treated as a convenience. If you have to keep pushing, chasing or pressuring- it’s not a good sign. Someone who is actively interested will be self motivated- it’s just hard to walk away when we’re infatuated with that person you
It's inconsistent because I find the guy is also talking to other girls. So you might here from him for awhile and then it goes silent and then you hear from him etc. He may run back to the girl he ghosted because it didn't pan out with the other girl.

I felt this so hard. Inconsistency is a BIG red flag. We shouldn't have to chase or pressure someone to love us, and I don't have the time or energy anymore to deal with guys who blow hot and cold or can't make up their minds which direction they want to go. Why let someone disrupt your peace if they don't intend to stay for good?
I don't expect people to respond to me immediately but if I'm always the one reaching out and rarely if ever getting a text back I take that as a sign that you're not interested and move on. My rule of thumb when it comes to romantic interests is if I've reached out to you 3 separate times over the course of a week and haven't heard back from you I just move on.
Her advice was for women, not men. You're generous, I go once then I'm done if there's no reply. Because if they actually liked you, they'll reply after that first time just like you would if you actually liked a girl or were being - shock horror - polite.

I give people the benefit of the doubt because I've sometimes thought I responded to someone already only to realize I never finished my thought or the message didn't go through. So then I wait a day or 2 and that's when you realize that not only have they not responded but they haven't reached out or even checked your text history either. At that point I know but I try it again anyway and then one last time just so no one can say I gave up too easily or blow their phone up.
I wish I had that kind of restraint. I have trouble letting go but you are setting the stage for such a healthy rule of thumb

No need to chase after people Abbey. If someone is really into you as much as you're into them then *BOTH* of you should be putting in the effort to stay connected/together. If you feel like the other person is putting all of that responsibility on you then you should say something about it or if y'all just met then bounce. You deserve more than a one sided love affair. 👍🏾

Well I never got past the crush point and I am always the one to initiate since I have noticed I never find anyone interesting unless I initiate. Also, I don't like to follow the patterns that I am told to get someone and I am not interested in playing games. I am up for a serious try only, no playing around because I don't have any fun with it. I know that how the world and communication currently works, I will never be in a relationship and that's fine. I am not interested to try anything, just when I see that it is worth it. It does make me sad a little bit that I will never have someone but I'm glad that I and what I have are enough for me to be happy. There is so much to do anyway.

I recently discovered them 2 weeks ago and as much as sucking up the truth hurts really bad, I am now in the process of rewiring my whole emotional and mental system to improve my self and the relationships around me. This is creepily accurate to my life of the last two years. I kept this in mind the whole time, tried to pace myself and became close enough to him that he’s actually second only to my best friend now...and then I confessed and man are you right about the disappointment. He basically says he sees why we’d be great together, but he’s just not into dating as a whole and hasn’t been for a while. So...commitment issues, I guess. *sigh* Friends it is.

I was struggling with that for a while until I realised that while I liked him, it was okay if he didn't like me back the way I liked him; nor did I need to force myself to stop liking him because he isn't/doesn't seem to be reciprocating. Once I came to the realisation that I liked him as a person, it was enough for me to just get to know him as a person, I felt free to love him for him(as a person) and not because I wanted him.(not sure if you get it, but that's how I feel). Whether it turns romantic or not, at least I'll still have a great relationship of knowing someone on a personal level as time progresses. There doesn't have to be a definite goal to a relationship.

Chasing actually does not exist between two emotionally stable people that know how to communicate.
Chasing is actually a term invented by the 'dating community' to explain what happens when the parts are unable to properly engage in a communication.
For short if someone will go mute and not reciprocate stop talking with them, because actually they are unable to do it most likely cause they are crippling with anxiety or fears.
