I still buy games on my Series S and X consoles. Some are physical and some digital. Why? Well on Game Pass I feel like I'm under time pressure to complete games. Say I want to complete the Persona games that are available. Unless I play on easy difficulty and skip a majority of the side content, that is over 300 hours of game play on just 3 games on the service. Add the Yakuzka titles which could be upwards of 60 hours a pop, and before I complete two franchises, they could be removed from the service. That not to mention some other games that could randomly drop and tickle my fancy like MLB. Sure, if you're a person who really doesn't care about completing games its an amazing service and you never have to buy a game. If you are someone who is invested in a franchise and would like to truly experience what a franchise has to offer, its better to just buy the games and play them at your own pace.
Very valid points, lately I have been favoring my Series S. Quick Resume, Switching and transitioning is amazing on the Series S. I mainly got a Series S to upgrade the XBox One S I used to have. Faster Loading, being able to play my previous titles and I started going all digital for Microsoft since 2017. I do my high fidelity games on my PS5, I do my portable gaming on the SteamDeck or Switch. There is one game I enjoy to play on all. Overwatch 2. (With the exception of the Switch) I do performance mode on them all. What sets them apart. PS5 - Dual Sense, I don't like the Switcher mechanic on it. XBS: S - Quick Resume, switching from Apple music and getting back into a game with little to no issues what so ever. I am thinking of wanting a Series X for the raw power. But I don't need a disk drive. I already have a 5 TB Mechanical Drive for my Older Digital Titles and a Seagate Expansion Card for my next gen titles. Overwatch 2, MultiVersus which I just download. I want to upgrade to the Series X, but I don't need to and I got my Series S a year ago. Space isn't an issue to me, 1440p is smooth and good enough for me. I am not a core Microsoft gamer but a multi console gamer.
Same here, damn I’ve been sloshing through reviews and honestly based on what research I’ve done, and unless you ABSOLUTELY need the digital storage, then the Series ‘S’ is worth it. 😶🌫️
Okay but can I play my old titles on series S without being forced to pay for them again or being forced to a monthly sub. See, I only maybe play online for 2 or 3 months out of the year. I prefer to play my sandbox games most of the time. I want to play Oblivion, Fallout 3, New Vegas, and then the occasional CoD blops combat training or WAW campaign and kotor 1 and 2, and Fallout 4 and Skyrim. I don't play a diverse pool of games on console. On PC I play my old total war titles, occasionally an MMO, or I'm on my Anbernic playing the older pokemon titles. I just don't like new games that much. I'm very particular and a niche gamer. I still even play PS2 games cuz Sony was too dumb to re-release their old Bandai Gundam games and well...I liked AVP extinction. Sue me! 😂
@@taasch2505there is a Trick. If you Download all Games on your series s, you can Play all Games offline Without having Game Pass. Just Turn Ur Xbox to Home console and Play it offline 😁👍 Even If you only subscribe for one month, Download the Games, do Home console and Play/enjoy it but If there is an Update, so you will Need a Second subscribtions for 1 month
I got a series s. Gaming is in a weird place at the moment most of the games are really broken and bland. I can definitely see game pass taking over and all games being geared towards micro transactions in a big way. But I honestly don't know where online gaming is heading because it's not looking good at the moment when you look at the numbers.
I tried Gamepass but wasn't satisfied so now i only buy games on sale that support 60fps. i also bought the series S second hand.. so in total I've spent less than €300 for everything...and I'm satisfied this way.
The Xbox series S is the Amazon fire stick of gaming. And for that, and just that, I love it. I’m so used to digital, that I only buy digital for my series X and my PS5. The only physicals I buy are occasional beloved AAA’s for Nintendo Switch. Keep up the great content, you never disappoint!
Man’s capping. I have not met an American who doesn’t buy each Call of Duty that comes out! Even if it’s the same as the last one, kind of like FIFA games.
One of the biggest pros for me apart from the other comments is that, the lack of a drive, makes it a great device to travel with and hook it up to a hotel/Airbnb etc. granted the switch or the steam deck as better handheld consoles and great for gaming on the flight or at your destination, but the xbox is great when you’ve started a game on gamepass and you want to continue where you left off. I own a switch and a series s and I think it’s the sweet spot for me. I did try the steam deck but found that it was a bit bulky compared to the switch. Games however are much cheaper on steam store and this is where gamepass shines again.
I think that you definitely have a valid point. I recently purchased an XBOX Series S to play through the Gears and Halo Franchise. Mine came with 24 months of GamePass Ultimate. The selection of games will definitely keep me going for those 24 months. The only 2 games that I do want to purchase are Burnout Revenge and Timesplitters 2, but for nostalgia reasons.
Some games ain't even on game pass plus they get rid of them as and when they like when bought it's always yours on top this I checked the list on game pass already own all ones I want on ps5 before I decided to get starfield so be pointless me getting it really I only really have series s for exclusives
@@stephaned3072this is untrue if subscription ends u can't play till re subscribe and they take games away as when like I already own lot the games on game pass will only buy exclusives mostly in sales
I own both the Series S and X. The higher performance of the Series X only matters when you install games locally - and even then only when they are either "One X Enhanced" or optimized for Series X. When you stream games from Game pass (or stream movies), it doesn't matter. At all. And when you only have a Full HD display connected to the console, the performance difference between the two consoles also becomes negligible; the Series S was designed and full optimized for Full HD/1080p and then a hardware chip upscales the picture to 4K, when a 4K display is connected. The Series X was designed for native 4K (but most games, let's face it, only render at 1440p or in best case up to something like 1800/1900p and then upscale to 4K). But it's also true that a picture rendered for 4K and then -downscaled- to Full HD will also still look better than an image that was natively rendered for Full HD. In case you hook up the Series X to a Full HD display or TV and play a game like Mutant Year Zero, for example, which plain and simple looks awful on the original Xbox One or the Series S; that game, and some other "One X Enhanced" titles, scream for an Xbox One X or Series X. But this is mostly a problem with these specific legacy titles that have not received a proper Series S/X upgrade or at least an "FPS boost" on Series S/X. In almost all use cases, you will be fine with a Series S.
I had the SS and bought the sx and instantly noticed the difference in image quality and performance. Sx often has games that are 60 and even 120fps that the SS doesn't do and many games coming out now on the SS seem to only have a 3ofps mode which isn't great for next gen games
I love my series s. Save me lots of money than buying a gaming pc. I’m a casual gamer too busy for work. Kids only play minecraft, roblox, red alert and forza. Well suited for my budget and needs. We also have switch ❤
They don't though you can buy any game they sell in shops on the xbox store & more so no different really apart from prices being higher but most people just wait for the sales unless it's a must have near release date kinda game lol
as a secondary console on my workdesk (macbook), it's incredible. Being able to quickly move installs (i just share one big HD), makes the low storage not such an issue. Looks amazing on my little 18" 2k portable monitor with 120hz. Series X is in the living room.
Yep - agree with you about 90%. Have a few nit pick points - but hey me agreeing with someone on YT 90% is an event in itself. As someone who is 44 years of age in a few days - I have been around for most of the gaming history. I had a "Pong-game" console on my monochrome TV in my room - just to give you an example of what we are talking about here. I have owned almost every console, every generation of PC since the XT - and I currently have a steam library with 1400 games + probably 2000 "boxed versions" of games + old console stuff and etc... And now - here is the reason why Game Pass rules: how many of the - well north of 4000 games that I own - how many do you think I actually play? MAYBE 100 of them get played from time to time. I have bought SO MANY disappointments through the years. God how often have you bought a game which was not your thing or which just plain sucked? It's in the 1000's for me! Not even exaggerating here! Game Pass - I can play a game and go "You know - I don't really like this part!" - uninstall it and have lost nothing. I can then wait on reviews of games made by people who aren't IGN - and get a feel for which games I actually should buy - because I have enough "new" games to entertain me on Game Pass while those videos/reviews are being made. Game Pass have saved me so much money! It's literally the best deal in gaming! AND it's cross platform - which just makes it an even better deal! P.S. Casually saw the Xbox Series S on sale IN EUROPE for 220$ in black Friday sales with 3 months Game Pass Ultimate. That's 3-4 games for the damn console AND "free" games for a quarter of a year! That's actually insane when you think about it!
I own a PS5. I got a Series S when Series X was in short supply but ended up selling it because the image quality was absolutely dog shit in next gen games.
The amount you have spent on game pass in two years have allowed me to purchase over 200 games. Make a wish list and only buy when on sale… games go on sale all the time
For real... People think they can only buy at full price. Not to mention Game Pass doesn't have all the games I want to play. Or they might have them now but maybe not when I get around to playing it.
The series S is a clever marketing tool by Xbox. XBox already admit that they've lost the "console wars" because PS4 beat the xbox one and that with the shift to more people going digital only the trend of jumping between consoles is coming to an end. You could entice people across from PlayStation to Xbox, they could sell their PlayStation games and buy the same games on Xbox at a fractin of the cost and more or less keep the same library of games after switching consoles. Going digital means this is no longer really an option. What MS have done is open a cheaper gateway to next-gen (well now current-gen) knowing that eventually games made for series X will be so much better on that console than on series S so owners of the series S will want to upgrade to the full current-gen experience (PS5 and series X) and so by having the series S all digital consumers are more than likely to upgrade to series X rather than PS5 because they can bring their games with them. It really is clever. The way they market it as a cheaper option for those can't afford the better maching when in reality it's purpose is really to make the consumer spend their money twice. Clever, clever marketing and unfortunately idiots fall for it. You may as well skip the $300 series S and save that little while longer for the $500 dollar series X because you will more than likely upgrade later on. So instead of giving MS $800 like they want you to over 2 console purchases you give them $500. Don't fall for the scam. MS aren't your friend, they just want your money. This could also be the reason they're lacking stunning 1st party games now, they're holding back until the install base of Series S is big enough to take advantage of. I'd say give it a another year to 18 months and we'll start seeing games that are series X only forcing the series S owners to upgrade or get no access to new games.
Well, you can get Witcher 2 on series s on sale for like $3 & it will probably NEVER be a freebie. So, I mean, pick and choose your battles folks. Also, got jade empire for like $3 as well. And honestly, I got 2 years of game ultimate through all access with my series s and use my Microsoft rewards points to keep getting that auto renew kick. So, since having XGPU, I have EARNED about a year of it for free. So, they all have their perks. But to say NOT to buy something... nah, I'll buy my digital Witcher 2 for $3 and have access to the digital license for as long as they have it available. Because once upon a time, I'd rent things from Hollywood video, movie gallery, blockbuster and pay more than that $3, to rent it. I hear what you're saying, but no. 😅
The last Xbox I owned was the 360 when back in those days people were bad talking the ps3 and Xbox allegedly had the better games. Now it’s weird to see the reverse of what happened
Great video. Actually been considering going this route, as I cannot afford a PS5/Series X/Gaming PC/Switch, and Game Pass is unbelievably good value. Don't understand all the dislikes for it though (currently at 1163 likes, 480 dislikes).
Series S has lasted me almost 3 years no problems, I also bought a 2TB SSD for $90 to store all my Xbox one and Xbox 360 games. And i only really need the 350GB console storage for X/S games like Starfield, MLB23, Sea of Thieves and NHL23, cuz I play the rest on ps5
Till today not sure it’s lag but I get a black screen that delete the game and rebuild or drops my background image from playing 6hrs … or something just a blur “ EVERY SECOND “
I miss having physical games Xbox series s is a amazing system been using it for two going on three years it's worth buying from all the upgrades you get but I do want to eventually upgrade to a series x or get a ps5 eventually for a little more options like games that have balanced mode 60 fps and a high resolution instead of 1080p on games like dl2
I agree with all thr points you made in this video. I to bought a series s as a partner system to my ps5 that I've had for 2 years. I havnt bought any new xbox games sense getting my series s either I've been playing some of my existing library that has upgrades on series s and mainly playing/subscribing to gamepass foreverything new that I want to try out. I love how cheap gamepass is and all the options it gives not just series s owner but xbox and pc owners as a whole. I've tried a lot of games on gamepass I wasn't sure about buying at full price on my ps5 some of them being better than expected so I just opted to play and finish them on the series s not buying them on my ps5 bc it saved me money and ran/look great on the series s. Great video keep up the good work mate!
Series S quick resume is really good for my single player games, i recommend it if you want to play a story mode game, but you hate waiting to load back in to your saves and shit . Like I can cut off gears of war 3 (not close out), cut off the console and got to my dentist then come back cut it back on the animation of me blowing off the locusts head cuts back on and I'm playing the game
I can live without it. I'm on the Omega Ring of the insider program and this past week the performance of the guide has been dreadful. I wonder how much cache this quick resume eats up.
Also, there is a cheat/trick to buy xbox gold for 3 years then upgrade to Ultimate for just $1. i dont know if it works still i did it last year. so i got 3 years for $150 the amount of games on.... it ill would never dream!
Use to buy physical and digital. But since gamestop screwed me over on my Resident Evil 4 preorder stuff, i just said ehh whatever, went home and bought it digitally, so im 100 percent digital now, had enough of the nonsense where i live, already have ps5, and i will also be getting an xbox for starfield and gamepass soon, pretty much got over the whole not owning and not owning your game awhile back, i just wanna enjoy whatever games i can, plus the extra gas money saved is used for membership and cheap games when theres sales, the playstation spring sale is awesome, 20 dollars and under for alot of good games, bought entire metal gear solid 5, came with every single thing in it for 3 dollars 👍
Where the series x shines is the fact that im not stuck paying 70 bucks for a 2 year old game from the microsoft store i can purchase the used version on disc for 20 bucks from game stop. And still get all the updates for it free
I’ve never gotten game pass personally even though I felt the value was amazing because I’ve spent way more time playing my PS4 and Switch but this is definitely a very good reason to decide to get a series S. I’ve been on the fence for a while because I have a OneX and never felt like I got the best value out it since I preferred the PS4 exclusives but this is the console where I would finally decide to go that route. Thanks
honestly i only purchase 360 or og xbox games atp for backwards compatibility, but still even then games like L4D2 are hard to grab a key for while games like Portal 2 are easier, its definitely an annoying spectrum there too with the prices often approaching triple AAA titles in the modern day
these companies are doing physical disc wrong they should first release digital then patch up everything and release physical copies 1 year later with full plug and play experience or even bundle it with a miniature or wallpaper its way more profitable and effective than making crappy pc ports that nobody buy
I've had the Series S for a year now and have only bought 2 × $5 games for it (from XBox 360) that have never and may never show up on Gamepass. Everything else has been played thru Gamepass. But here's another dilemma I have. Let's say I start one of those AAA games and then a year later they remove it from the subscription service, if I still want to play that game with all my save data now I will feel compelled to buy that game digitally for the Series S at near full price, probably. Sure I could buy it physical for the PS5 let's say, but then I would have to start the game all over again, which I may not want to do. I've had some recent thoughts about this, which I haven't had to do this yet, but it could come up shortly. Some games noted are: A Plague Tale Requiem & Atomic Heart recently...
Yea it is an interesting dilemma. For me the XBOX has always been a machine that I used to play games I never hae before but the PS5 was my true next gen machine
I think playstation has a better controller, the buttons aren't squishy, they click. Also I bet that playstation has better software. For me, xbox feels like it's still alpha software, full of bugs and performance drops.
There's only a couple of games I've enjoyed enough to actually buy and keep, (select NfS titles, select C.o.D. titles), and for that, I have an ssd. Everything else, (Wolfenstein, Redfall, Forza, etc), I just cloud game. Your right. Moreover, I've found that the series s, is perfect. It's small, it's powerful, I'm able to build the exact gaming system that I've been wanting to build, all these years, that suits MY needs. So, yeah, definitely agree with everything you've just said.
The series s was designed as a small cheap quiet console for next gen gaming both for purchases and subscriptions via gamepass. I’ve used both gamepass and have bought games through the Xbox store especially when they have a sale on. I got gears of wars 4 for less than £4 and now that it’s on my account it’s there for me to play on any of my machines no discs required. Just boot up your machine and your game library is there. Simple and secure.
also run dev mode and retroarch emulators then you have another 20 systems wii ps1 ps2 n64 gamecube mame snes Sega amiga c64 Atari and on and on ... its amazing
Late reply...very late....But, didn't see an answer so figured it just say, Yes you will, even without access to the game, your saved game data is still there, you can completely delete any game from your library and still have access to save game data on re-download of the game
"If you want to play at the highest fidelity you just play on your PS5"... Very funny, didn't you mean on Series X which is a more powerful console? About buying the games, well... Xbox has acquired pretty much half game developers and have announced a bunch of titles this year, while PS5 they even said themselves that they are not going to make any 1st party games until 2025... So, nah, If you want high fidelity gaming buy an Xbox Series X which already has a lot of games coming up, for PS Games I already own a PC, you could argue that I can play Xbox games on PC aswell but, it's more comfortable to play on console for so many reasons... But yeah, I rather an Xbox/PC for AAA titles rather than a weak PS5, but thanks...
I feel like for about another year to three years the series can do both be the gateway and the “full” experience. While yes it doesn’t have the 4k and full 120fps but it still enlists a fully enjoyable and fast experience for any triple A I’ve put it against, and it still has more room for growth with software updates and titles that are fully meant for X/S consoles. TLDR: I feel like the series S is able to run triple A titles very well and should for the coming years until the tail end of this generation of consoles
This. I have a series S and I love it. It plays the games I have nicely. Might not have the native 4k but honestly as a casual gamer nowadays I don’t get to play enough to justify buying an X and and a tv that can take advantage of it. A 4k tv that has 120 frames is a lot of money. I fine with my 4k tv and 60 frames.
@@Chavery17exactly and not very many games even do 120 fps, upgrade the hdmi cable and the series s is perfect, I don’t buy “physical” games anymore and they dont exist anyway cause that died last generation. I did upgrade to the black series s this past fall and sold my white one.
According to me actual drawback with game passes that you rent so many games at single point of time and you not gonna play all those. I and many people prefer playing 2-3 games at Max so makes sense to pay for those only.
You know I seen your channel multiple times when I look up information about the series s my friend bought me a series s for my birthday last week so I decided to subscribe to you
Dont believe anything microsoft say, they said they would never stop backwards compatibility and never stop adding games to it. Suppose they realised people who didnt keep the hard copies of their old games didnt want to re buy them so they just fobbed it all off completely for the subscription
As someone who just got it like 3 months ago. I’m already trying to sell it seems like I won’t be getting anywhere close to my money back. There going for 140 I’m scared this thing is gunna get as low as 80 bucks. I’m getting rid of this thing ASAP.
@@jdxcoffee got into pc games I like simulators and action sports games. This thing was a waste of money most of the games for it in that genre suck. And the few they do have are the vanilla version where I can’t experience the true capabilities of the games. Can’t even get most of the levels because you can’t mod them. So I’m done with it I want nothing to do with console right now waste of money and the games I play on them feel worse. I never should have bought the thing I regret it.
I have over 150 owned digital Xbox games and another 150ish Games With Good games available as long as I have a subscription of any kind. Having just Game Pass Core allows me to play hundreds of games, including a selection of newer ones, and I can switch to Ultimate for a month or two when I really want to play a specific game only available to Ultimate. But I'll still be buying games on sale that either aren't on Game Pass or might eventually leave Game Pass. I play the games I like, and I want to have access to those games. Game Pass is great but I don't always want what they've curated.
Streaming games cost more in data than purchasing a game on sale. You must live in town with unlimited data hardwired to your home. I have always lived in the country with Verizon wireless internet and data cap is 20gb a month. My friend used 22Gb streaming for a hour or two. Streaming is renting. Purchased digital copies is not rented. We have jailbroken PS4 with PS4 titles cloned on drives today for sale on Ebay. We can clone any new game. Now streaming means you do not download the game file, so you can not copy it. A downloaded game means you have the game file, and can clone it. They want everyone streaming so no one can copy games. And you can stream any game onto a cell phone, because the phone is not processing the game, but the server is. So if streaming is your thing all you need is a $100 Playstation Backbone to play games on a 1080p phone screen anywhere. So a Xbox S is a waste of money for streaming games. I think Steam allows streaming new games onto a phone.
In today’s world physical games will not only clutter up your home but will eventually end up in landfill. So from an environmental perspective it makes sense to go digital.
I'm still on Sega genesis. no internet. no subscription. wow.

It can all be taken away from you at any time. And as we have been learning recently, it probably will. M$ can make your console an expensive paperweight any time they want by simply removing the digital service.
Arguments can be made for both sides but $360 a year is excessive for a rental service. That's maybe a dozen or more AAA games if you watch the sales over a year.
I have a PS five Nintendo switch, OLED, and a steam deck and lately the Xbox series S I been on more just because like I love the quick resume GamePass is awesome and it’s just a whole different experience to me
What if I want to play a game that is not available on gamepass? What if there is a game that leaves the gamepass service that I want to play but now can't because it got cycled out? I can just buy it for cheap because every game gets discounted when it is about to leave the service, or are you against that to? I agree if you already have a PS5 it makes sense to just buy games on that console because you are getting the better graphics and all that. and to use the Series S as a secondary machine for gamepass. I also agree physical media means nothing anymore. because most of the time the game isn't even on the disc, and every game now requires some massive day one patch in order to work and you need to be online for all that anyway. But people still play physical games. I have a big library of physical games and i want to be able to take my entire library with me when I upgrade to a new console that's why I opted for the Series X. I also believe when it come upgrading to a new console, go big, or go home, upgrading from a console to could play physical games to one that couldn't would feel like I was regressing. If the Series S is your onyl console, then yeah of course you are going to buy games for it.
Till today not sure it’s lag but I get a black screen that delete the game and rebuild or drops my background image from playing 6hrs … or something just a blur “ EVERY SECOND “
I kinda have to disagree in the "you don't need to buy on the series s and x". If you have only Xbox as gaming experience provider through game pass subscription you can not access the ultimate edition of most games. So in your case you may play only the games in the subscription that don't have dlc expansion and buy the ultimate editions in the other consoles like ps5.
@@grgamer8470 I mean very cheap price, like the price of a lunch. 50 New Zealand dollars or lower. In nzd new games cost $100 sometimes $120 with some dlc.
I bought Xbox SS to play Forza Motorsport 2023, so i bought it!^ Bought Core GP too, but i don't really care about other games, it's just for the multiplayer aspect of Forza.
Aside from a great video. quick question. do you own a desktop "gaming"/windows system? or are you "exclusively" a console gamer. just out of my curiosity cause that background setup you change looks mad good
Well, I beg to differ. I mean I get the argument that Xbox Series S is sort of designed as a gateway to gamepass, but you can actually buy a lot of great games for cheap, and not invest in game pass. The solution-Chinese game sellers on Taobao. I have added- RDR2, RDR, GTAV, Plague Tale (Innocence+Requiem), Witcher 3, Alan Wake 2, AC Valhalla, Origins, Odyssey, Disco Elysium, outer wilds, Edith finch, and cricket 22 for a total sum of 81 USD. BEAT THAT. By the way MOST are ULTIMATE editions.
I feel you but I don't play that many games a year to do this. I probably just play 3 games a year if not just 2 games. By the time I get into another game or attracted to another game it's on discount.
i haveto totally disagree, at first i would have agreed with you, until my favourite xbox games were removed from gamepass, fprcing me to buy digital versins from scalpers at ridiculous prices, which ended up costing me considerably more than they would have from the microsoft store
If you play a lot of competitive games like call of duty, fortnite, apex, minecraft, then the series S is perfect for you, especially for children who might have siblings, then you use game share to get them all up and running with just one game pass subscription with guaranteed support and warranty. Personally I use my series as for content, Instead of gaming on my pc, I game on my series S at slightly lower settings and since my xbox is doing all the gaming, I can really crank the encoding up high on my PC and the xbox was only 300 bucks, not to mention game share and home xbox so all the games I buy, my brother can play at the same time, whenever, wherever with access to online. It's not a perfect system tho, I still think consoles can cut the paying for online thing since I doubt it even costs them as much as it used to.
I buy my games. Haven’t bought physical in years. Except switch cartridges because I like carts better than disk. But uh, yeah I don’t own anything. It’s a weird time to be alive. Like I wish I could at least make physical backups of the games.
there are 2 major issues with the game pass argument the first, in order for it to be economically viable for microsoft, you are technically paying for the whole library of games that you will never play, so basically, game pass is still overpriced secondly, lets be honest, $70 for a game is also overpriced af steam is still the most balanced online service, you can get a huge library for relatively cheap on sales, and have unlimited access to only games you actually want to play
some games I wanna rent. some games I wanna buy. By the time they drop support to the series S I will simply download games on an SSD and homebew them. they won't even know.
I love that Xbox GamePass Ultimate isn't very expensive if you look at the price for a year. It ends up being cheaper the get game pass than it is to buy the games. So far I have spent way less than I would have buying games. Of course you won't own the games but I don't plan on playing a game for a decade.
I have my Xbox 360 still because I have Marvel vs Capcom 2 downloaded to it.. if I were to buy a series s would I be able to redownload it to the series s?
Hey my guy, I got a question for you. I currently have an Xbox One S, and I'm converting my game to digital copies to upgrade to the Series S. I have my games on an external SSD. I wanted to know if I will have to install my Xbox One or Xbox 360 games on the internal drive of the Series S to take advantage of enhanced features, like FPS boost, etc. I can't find a video with a clear answer to my question. I don't want to have to reinstall or transfer my Xbox One or 360 games to the internal drive as it is already limited in space.
@@WeAreNotExperts2007 Yeah, but will I still get resolution and FPS boost while running off of the external SSD. I don't plan on buying the expensive memory cards for the Series S.
You can store your Xbox one and backwards compatible original Xbox and 360 games on external HDD or SSD and you will benefit from FPS boost and increased resolution up to 1440p 60fps on Xbox one x enhanced backwards compatible games from 360 and original Xbox but resolution will be same as Xbox one for those games. The only thing you won't benefit from on all those games is loading times. I have tested this myself hope all this helps. There are also a limited number of Xbox series optimized games that can run off an external hard drive such as the master chief collection 👍🏽
I'm confused. Year and a half ago I was like let's buy Series S, it's cheaper, I have to try this new thing called Game Pass Ultimate etc. Buying digital xbox games is more than cheap for me but I still wish I can somehow sell them for anything, for a buck, just to get rid of those licenses-to play I own. You rent-only logic is good but that's an issue too for me because I don't have that much time to only game and make the GPU that valuable. Then there is times I just want to play black ops online for a month and have fun but Live is paid. Series S is a nice trap overall. It's price was a bit higher at the time but now you can get more money selling your ps4 fat without any games than the Series S with an account and two controllers.
Not a fan of advocating against physical media and ownership. Like, I get that its easier to not care about owning games, and I get how frustrating it is that many physical games are now just download keys. But that doesnt mean you should just get behind that. I personally have Game pass, and will download and play games on it, but I do NOT use it as a replacement for physical media. I still buy physical games that I enjoy so I can keep them and have them. I do NOT buy physical games that require online updates, as I know that sticker means the whole game is actually online, and my switch cartridge or ps4/5 disc is actually just a download key... But I still actively support physical media because ownership and preservation is important to me personally.
I appreciate the sentiment but games won’t function without access to online anymore. At least most for Xbox and PlayStation. Nintendo is a different story.
@@jdxcoffee I dont think thats entirely true. I loaned my PS5 to my Sister before Easter because she wanted to play Hogwarts Legacy, and she's been playing it just fine. She doesnt have internet because she just uses her phone which has unlimited data. So im not sure how she could be playing if the game required her to be online to function.
maybe more made towards Cloud gaming? but I had to admit that haven't yet really played an AAA game which catch me since I played Hellblade and that was on my PC before I got the SS, actually I see the future of XBOX gaming more into casual-rescycling dumb games, rather into real interesting game development.
You should be loading your account with Live (max 3yrs), then paying the $1 or $15 ONE TIME fee to convert it all to gamepass ultimate for the duration (up to 3yrs). The catch is you have to let the subscription lapse. Ive done it twice now over the last 4yrs
Very worth it. In Brazil it costs less than half the price of the Series X or PS5 during sales.
I would agree then
Very valid points, lately I have been favoring my Series S.
(With the exception of the Switch)
I do performance mode on them all.
Bro I’m definitely getting the Xbox series s now thank you ‼️
Same here, damn I’ve been sloshing through reviews and honestly based on what research I’ve done, and unless you ABSOLUTELY need the digital storage, then the Series ‘S’ is worth it.
Sue me! 😂

Yea me too buying games on sale is OP
Buying games on sale beats game pass all day long. I’ve spent less than he did on game pass and now own over 200 games

Microsoft’s REAL Flagship isn’t XBOX… | Thrash Talk #2
The only 2 games that I do want to purchase are Burnout Revenge and Timesplitters 2, but for nostalgia reasons.
game pass is dog shit buddy
What happens if you download a game and your game pass subscription ends?
@@Me-eb3wvit still plays. Cuz the game is yours
Did you subscribe on game pass? Or you prefer purchasing it?
No one buying games, that's gonna be great for the gaming industry 😊
This mindset to have... It's never good to let a corporation control the library you have.
This is also a great system for multiplayer gaming 👍
Totally!! especially if you lay the free to play ones
And now - here is the reason why Game Pass rules:
how many of the - well north of 4000 games that I own - how many do you think I actually play?
Stop watching these videos if you have a Series S.
I enjoy a good digital collection even though I can't touch. It doesn't really mean that much less to me.

Great video. Actually been considering going this route, as I cannot afford a PS5/Series X/Gaming PC/Switch, and Game Pass is unbelievably good value. Don't understand all the dislikes for it though (currently at 1163 likes, 480 dislikes).
I would say that if I like a game after trying it, Ill buy it to support the developer, especially if its an Indie game
That’s a good way of looking at it.
Let’s play mlb online dude
That was wack. Degital gaming only… I could only have it for 2 month.

Thanks
bruh why is captain price talking about xboxes
honestly i only purchase 360 or og xbox games atp for backwards compatibility, but still even then games like L4D2 are hard to grab a key for while games like Portal 2 are easier, its definitely an annoying spectrum there too with the prices often approaching triple AAA titles in the modern day
these companies are doing physical disc wrong
they should first release digital then patch up everything and release physical copies 1 year later with full plug and play experience or even bundle it with a miniature or wallpaper
its way more profitable and effective than making crappy pc ports that nobody buy
I got gears of wars 4 for less than £4 and now that it’s on my
account it’s there for me to play on any of my machines no discs required. Just boot up your machine and your game library is there. Simple and secure.

Series s is a great buy.
It totally is
Was quite disapointed after buying switch coming from xbox series s by the game prices and no sales on the good ones.

Yup
Did you returned or sold your Series X? I remember you had it before.
I returned the first one and sod the second one for 450

Dude that's rad!
I love my series s. Love game pass it’s affordable and I can always find some thing to chill with.
Digital you never own it.
That's maybe a dozen or more AAA games if you watch the sales over a year.
worth it man i got retroarch and its a banger i can play ps1 ps2 gamecube sega saturn wii and more on it

Which one should I buy? cfw Switch or Xbox S? I'm mainly a playstation player but looking for something different
Switch
I kinda have to disagree in the "you don't need to buy on the series s and x".
If you have only Xbox as gaming experience provider through game pass subscription you can not access the ultimate edition of most games. So in your case you may play only the games in the subscription that don't have dlc expansion and buy the ultimate editions in the other consoles like ps5.
I see your point and do think it is valid. I would just say that a lot of games available on gamepass ultimate don't have those "dlc" packs
Lots of games also never appear on GamePass, but are frequently on special.
@@Jeff--vq4zb by "special" you mean the big offers or something else?
@@grgamer8470 I mean very cheap price, like the price of a lunch. 50 New Zealand dollars or lower. In nzd new games cost $100 sometimes $120 with some dlc.
@@grgamer8470 I don't mean new games but games that are a few years old.
Discs go down in value giving people a better deal compared to a digital store that charges full price for games that came out 7 years ago
That’s true. I think discs are leaving us fully soon… sad
I bought Xbox SS to play Forza Motorsport 2023, so i bought it!^
Bought Core GP too, but i don't really care about other games, it's just for the multiplayer aspect of Forza.
All good. that seems like a good option
@@jdxcoffeeThanks!❤
Aside from a great video. quick question. do you own a desktop "gaming"/windows system? or are you "exclusively" a console gamer. just out of my curiosity cause that background setup you change looks mad good
Console only as of now. That is my console setup.
Im getting a series s but im still gonna buy, hard copies so im tem years i will have a colle tion of brand new games.
I feel you but I don't play that many games a year to do this. I probably just play 3 games a year if not just 2 games. By the time I get into another game or attracted to another game it's on discount.
Like the only games I bought full price this year was nba 2k. I'm not buying it next year though. I'll see what games I'll buy this year or next year.
i haveto totally disagree, at first i would have agreed with you, until my favourite xbox games were removed from gamepass, fprcing me to buy digital versins from scalpers at ridiculous prices, which ended up costing me considerably more than they would have from the microsoft store
Wich game?,. Because usually if before they remove the game on game pass, the game already cheap in the market.
I don't mind not buying games I believe this system is one of the best Xbox
there are 2 major issues with the game pass argument
the first, in order for it to be economically viable for microsoft, you are technically paying for the whole library of games that you will never play, so basically, game pass is still overpriced
secondly, lets be honest, $70 for a game is also overpriced af
steam is still the most balanced online service, you can get a huge library for relatively cheap on sales, and have unlimited access to only games you actually want to play
Yeah but Sonic Generations isn’t on game pass
Yea some franchises are under represented
some games I wanna rent. some games I wanna buy. By the time they drop support to the series S I will simply download games on an SSD and homebew them. they won't even know.
2 years. 2 years after the series S came out and only in May 2023, your realising it was made for you to game for cheap?
I am realizing it wasn't worth it
@@jdxcoffee Damn brother, I never expected a response but you make a fair point.
I love that Xbox GamePass Ultimate isn't very expensive if you look at the price for a year. It ends up being cheaper the get game pass than it is to buy the games. So far I have spent way less than I would have buying games. Of course you won't own the games but I don't plan on playing a game for a decade.
Didn’t some games go away?
@user-ib1yt5yk2r Yeah but those are games I don't play.
You can store them on the hard drive and they’ll work.
@@shafm274 Thanks
FPS Boos is one thing but if the game has the optimized for the Series X | S logo then it will need to be stored local
Interesting
Series s is my only console and gaming device, and its been awesome! I AM looking forward to upgrading to series x though ...
I see the point of having a series s if you got or are getting each system. But if you only wanted one, series x is the better console
maybe more made towards Cloud gaming? but I had to admit that haven't yet really played an AAA game which catch me since I played Hellblade and that was on my PC before I got the SS, actually I see the future of XBOX gaming more into casual-rescycling dumb games, rather into real interesting game development.
😂 “Stay Sexy, stay caffeinated, but most importantly have a good day!” 😂 thanks bro ✊🏽
You already know what it is.
My backlog is set so far back, once I get around to playing current gen games, the PS6 will be out.
You should be loading your account with Live (max 3yrs), then paying the $1 or $15 ONE TIME fee to convert it all to gamepass ultimate for the duration (up to 3yrs). The catch is you have to let the subscription lapse. Ive done it twice now over the last 4yrs
Yeah they changed that. Which I'm guessing you know. Only get 2/3 now
@@dillo408still a good deal, i haven’t done it since August 2022
Gamepass is good for indie games but I spend most time playing games that I own a license for.
I don't think either console is designed for anything but game pass.
You dont own any games anymore ,you just rent them by paying the monthly service
