The back sticking that you are doing, was developed by a good friend of mine. His name is John Dowling, may he rest in peace. Back in 1960, he was in the Air Force drum a bugle Corps. He developed back sticking that is currently used today. He used it in the Air Force drum quartet, for the very first time, they won the first place, and the judges, Jaws dropped to the ground, they could not believe what they were witnessing for the very first time, it was the very first time the audience, was fortunate to witness, such an outstanding performance by the Air Force drum quartet, and the crowd went crazy. DCI, and DCA, all use the back sticking techniques today. Today is October 21st 2022. John Dowling, also was the instructor for many championship drum lines, in drum and bugle Corps. The Riley Raiders from Philadelphia Pennsylvania, the rating Buccaneers from Reading Pennsylvania, the Osmond Cadets from Pennsylvania, just to name a few. He also played the bugle, his brother was focused mainly on bugling that's how he learned, no formal instruction. He won four national championships in the single day. He took first Place individual snare, he took first place, drum quartet, he took first place bugle solo, took first place in brass quartet. The brass quartet had an individual that was sick and could not compete John asked if he could fill in and he did, that's how he won the brass quartet, the same day he decided to play individual soprano solo, and he won that also. So again for national championships in the single day. Nobody in the world has accomplished that major accomplishment. He was an amazing individual and amazing talent. I never ever met anybody quite like him with so much talent.
Forget DCI? Seriously? Not to detract from this group but they're marching at 100BPM in an area 40 feet by 70 feet. You might look at the Cadets fastest closers (199 - 206BPM). In the last one the drumline covers 55 yards marching sidestep at 206BPM. Try it sometime.
