Maybe you never heard of Neil Peart? How about Carl Palmer…any drummer from Slipknot…Bill Bruford maybe??? The world is filled with outstanding players and their kits, seven hardly scratches the surface.
my favorites Neil Peart's Rush 30th anniversary kit from their 2004 tour Phil Collins white Gretsch drum kit he used on the Genesis Mama tour. Lars Ulrich ...And justice for all kit he used in 1991 and all of Stuart Copeland's kits
The Biggest are the Coolest It doesn't has to be that way That's why I loved the kits of Bil Buford wich were an Expression of his journey through the Universe of percussion....
Peart's Time Machine Kit was a Masterpiece of Masterpieces and the best looking kit. It even changed color depending on light and shadows. One minute it looks like a brand new copper penny to solid black, to a wood grain pattern.
I know other drummers have been mentioned, but nobody is talking about Eric Carr. You can make a list just from what he had in each music video he was in.
My personal favourite drum kit in neil pearts snakes and arrows drum kit. Love the tone of orange and the simplistic artwork but love how much there is to it
Hey man Great Video! You should Check out Eric Carr's Drum Set. Hes my drum hero and he uses 3 bass drums and has a very big drum set in general. He was Kiss 2nd Drummer and their best In my Opinion!
Aquiles Priester has hands down the best drum kit I have ever seen. The absolute variety in types of toms, cymbals and equipment paired with the coloursounds is badass. If you haven't seen the kit or his drumming in general look it up.
AVH's "Fair Warning" tour kit = # 1 coolest kit I've ever seen. (the black and white striped one in the video above) It was also the first concert I ever went to. I was 14 and some drunk chick I met in the crowd started making out with me. I went to school the next day with my neck covered in hicky's. That and Al's kit are the two things that I really remember from that night those 43 long years ago.
Awesome video! Great to see Danny Carey mentioned bc he's one of my all time favorite drummers. My personal favorite drum kit is Phil Collins' kit that he used in the 1983, '86, and '92 tours with Genesis.
Lars Ulrich's kit/s during the black album touring was good. Neil Peart had epic set-ups. Tommy Lee of Motley Crue has had unique drum kits. Ray Luzier of KoRn, Joey Jordison of Slipknot, Dave Lombardo used a 6 tom kit that was cool (similar to Peart) as did Paul Bostaph with 5 toms, Blas Elias, numerous kits for KISS, as well as Rick Allen of Def Leppard, Tommy Clufetos...
Very cool list. I was wondering if you might have considered Robert Sweet's kit from Stryper and/or the various kits from Tommy Lee (the spinning kit, the rollet coaster kit, etc.)? I think those would be at least honorable mentions? 😏
As a drummer, I dive into these videos. Clearly, this guy has not seen all the cool drum sets. Or has not seen Neil Peart or Scott Rockenfield and Gavin Harrison's drum kits.
Bozzio ‘learned’ the entire set for Black Page 1 & 2 - and played the impossible stuff that Zappa wrote to perfection. Metal isn’t everything, mate. Technical perfection comes in many forms.
Yes I do, but I'm a metalhead so i really only know metal/rock drummers. and i think they have very cool kits. Lets me know if there are any dummers from different genres that I should check out!
Carl Palmer used a custom made stainless steel kit with engravings plus tubular bells, timpani and decorated gongs and various other pieces of percussion in 1973 for the ELP album Brain Salad Surgery ... all his toms were connected to synths that played a particular sound which he controlled with a foot switch ... the kit was placed on a Japanese style pagoda and the whole rig rotated ... it weighed approx one and a half tons and it was reported that one ELP gig had to be postponed because the stage couldn't take the weight of the kit! ... during the BSS tour in 1974 he played two solos during the show ... one with the synth kit and percussion during the track Toccata and one just as an acoustic ... he was one of (if not THE first) drummer to use electronics in a live show so go check his kit out! .... ruclips.net/video/MgaETQh4uXg/видео.html
Rockenfields kit is instantly identifiable, Cozy Powells big silver Yamaha kit also you know who’s it is as soon as you see it, can’t miss the 26” kick drums and matching big ass rack toms. Also Tommy Aldridge was the first to use the rack system with the bass drums floating that Whitesnake 87 kit was cool as shit.
Best sounding...bonhams 73.75 vistalites..u heard n felt them .i did 4x..73..75..2x each msg...carl palmers 73/74...77/78 stainless steel..saw that kit.6x..73,74.....77..4x
You need to watch Bozio when he drummed for Frank Zappa. He was actually a very good drummer. His more rhythmic style came later. He did learning videos , decades ago.
Vinnie Paul’s cannon toms, Keith moons drumset from his 1978 won’t get fooled again drum solo I don’t know how to describe it, Charlie benante pantera, Lars ulrich white tama are my favorites

Martin Chambers’ kit from the 70s was very unique looking. John Stanier of Battles (he’s in Helmet too) also comes to mind. Bill Bruford had some different set ups.
Ok me it's Tommy Lee from Motley Crue ( Shout at the Devil and Theatre of Pain ) Dave Lombardo from Slayer Peter Criss from 70's Kiss Matt Frenette from Loverboy And Louis Cardeneze
Might be able to change your mind on Bozzio. Strongly recommend both albums from Bozzio Levin Stevens. The song Tziganne in particular shows off some of Terrys tom work
thanks sam ureye', check out ' vinny appice', played for dio', in the 70s and 80s', used 2 walls of concert toms' behind him his kits then were mostly concert toms' to me his playings as good as any of todays fast rock guys'.
Bozzios kit was a idea to show off at clinics , he wouldn't show up at jam with this , and maybe do more research , listening on him unless medal is all you listen too

This kid obviously doesnt know too much about drums, he says that Mangini needs to use both hands to do a drum roll....pretty sure two hands are absolutely necessary to perform a drum roll. Never heard of Neil Peart, Carter Beuford , Bill Bruford and many others. Nice try anyways , but maybe learn a little more and do another one.
