What's going on right now is that there is an "aluminum " shortage, so cans are actually in shortage. What the coke companies are doing is allocating all of their cans to be centered on their main selling products like regular and diet coke. You aren't going to be seeing cans of Coke Zero, Fresca, Barq's Rootbeer, Special Mt. Dew (Like code red and caffeine free), and things like much longer. They may continue them through plastic bottles though. Edit: This is something that would have happened with or without the coronavirus.

3 weeks ago all the stores in my area were out of DR Pepper. I had to drive an hour to buy 6 cases.
I have friends in Texas who haven't had a lot of shortages but I am in Virginia with a completely barren spice, canned anything, soda and chips so it really may just be where you are at.
