  • Ed reviews the Kahr MK9 - a steel-framed, single-stack, striker-fired, double-action semi-auto pistol with a smooth-as-butter double-action trigger.
The MK9 is a tiny 9mm that's highly concealable, but being made of steel rather than polymer gives it a feeling of quality and the shootability of a big gun in this small-gun package.
It's not inexpensive, but you get refinement and reliability for the MSRP of $880 (and lower online and at retail). Definitely a gun worth shooting, and potentially adding to your everyday carry configuration.

One of these sweethearts have been my EDC for years now, love it. I have thousands of rounds through it without a single issue. Shooting a +P 124g Speer Gold Dot that extra weight is very welcome. It didn't take long to get used to when I got it I don't even notice it now. I only have a small collection but of the handguns I have this is my favorite. I forgot to add, if you want to put a nice touch on it polish the entire barrel. I did mine, the polished breech looks really nice against the matte slide.

Also, I have 3 other polymers Kahrs and to fix the magazine not shooting out, press the mag release button all the way in. I have a slip on grip on all my kahrs and with the extra pressure from the grip, it still shoots out.

this is my favorite back up weapon. Sure its a bit heavier than a polymer pistol but just something about having the feel of steel in your hand. This little pocket rocket is an uber reliable, beautiful looking, accurate pistol. I have night sites and a hogue rubber grip sleeve on mine. I also replaced my guide rod and spring to a stainless steel upgrade. Actually made it shoot better too., Less snap. These are so well made and the fit and finish is on par with weapons costing twice this or more. I am very happy with my kahr nk9. Something to note, even though they hang out the bottom but any and all kahr 9mm mags fit and work, even the k series 10 rounders for when your at the range and wanna have a little extra fun!

wow! I love these kahr guns too. I grew up on single action pistols but the smoothness of kahrs are amazing so I didn't mind going through the transitional faze of learning to be accurate with the double action

these older/forgotten kahrs are great. kahr makes some weird guns tbh. the problem with small subcompacts is both their weight and handling. this atleast corrects the weight problem with all steel.
i would like to point out that the MK and PM series is inherently less accurate than the cheaper CM version because of their polygonal barrel. polygonal barrels seal better and give you more velocity for the same barrel length, super important in these short guns, but they also deform the projectile slightly more and decrease accuracy.
I personally ankle carry a cm40, really wish i could find a cheap mk40 coz that thing is basically impossible to shoot.... but its the smallest practical 40 u can get.... i cant think of another 40 anyone would try to ankle carry in their right mind otherthan maybe the sub compact glocks?
out of the short barrel of the cm40, 40sw has like 30% more energy than 357 out of a snub nose. really cant compete with it as a get off me gun that can still penetrate.

Had to get a part replaced in mine after a few 1000 rounds. Started to get issues with it not cycling fully into battery. Not a pistol I would buy again considering cost of replacement parts from customer no service at Kahr. Ruger charges nothing and gets parts sent to you quicker. Not a bad gun but not a great company behind this gun either.

In the bar scene in “Gone Baby Gone” Casey Affleck pistol whips a guy in the face with this metal gun, he has small hands but it was still unrealistic as the butt wouldn’t extend past his palm.
