    Those stainless Kahrs are some of the best looking single stacks made imo. Just gorgeous and really a pleasure to shoot and/or carry. Hope you still got these bad boys 5 years later!

    I passed up a new mk9 with nightsights priced at $550 and its been hard to live with myself ever since. My only consolation, and a great one at that was that i bought my dream gun instead, an imi jericho full size in hard chrome! I still want a stainless kahr to this day and i keep looking...

      I hope you found one. I bought my MK9 with night sights 7 years ago for $500, have been offered more since than but no go, I will never sell it. The finest shooting subcompact I have ever fired.

    Just bought myself a K9 off gunbroker. It should be at my FFL tomorrow. Can't wait to pick it up.

    I have the k9 elite. It's a great little shooter. Super well-built and that all steel construction makes its easy to use. If you can get used to the trigger, I highly recommend them.

    Update. Took it to the range today, 20 rounds in, the ejector assembly flew out of theslide and hit my hand, severly bruising it. This explained the fail to eject /stovepipes during the first session. Sent back for warranty repair. Will update as events progress.

    I love the little MK9 I am not a fan of Kahr polymer pistols just the SS models .
    Its a great solid little gun .Even though I carry G43 for EDC I refuse to sell my MK9.
    I should send you a Holster for the MK9 to review if you like it would be yours to keep

      Exactly. If they're gonna make it single stack, they might as well chamber it in a more powerful cartridge. They do make the K40 in 40S&W

    some people say they like the Mk9 over pm9 because of the extra weight , it helps tame recoil.
    Nice Trigger for a double action , still think a striker fire is better but the Kahr trigger is safer. Any gun with no safety needs a proper holster

    You said the K9 is similar in size to the G43 and M&P Shield. I hope in the next video about the K9 you do a side by side comparison. I would really like to see that because K9 looks like the same size of a G19.

    • @bicimn
      @bicimn 8 лет назад

      The reason the K9/P9 looks larger than it is is because the grip being proportioned to the gun, unlike the stubby looking sub compacts. Not only is the K9/P9 smaller than a G19, its actually smaller than a G26. And The MK9/PM9 is even a full inch shorter than the K9/P9. These are small guns. Google "kahr k9 vs glock 26" and click Images. The first two pics are a P9 (same as a K9 except in polymer) vs a 26.

      Steven Szelag I have the Shield, the K9, and K40. They are almost exactly the same size as the Shield, but I think the Shield's trigger guard is slightly larger. The G19 is a double stack and has a longer barrel. Of course they are not the same size.

    Great review. How would you compare the recoil of the mk9 vs shield 9mm?

    • @charliedee9276
      @charliedee9276 4 года назад +2

      I can say my MK9 has less recoil than any sub I have fired. It is small but being all stainless it is heavy for its size. The plus side is less recoil even with hot rounds. I shoot 124g Speer Gold Dot +p and the kick is there but not like in a light gun.

    Great review; A lot of info. Is that stainless coated after initial machining and how does the finish wear ? I tried a K9 range gun and it had some problem going fully into battery ; but I think it was just dirty. I want one anyway.

    • @80sDon
      @80sDon 7 лет назад

      mikunan it's a stainless slide and frame. No coatings. The K9 was carried by the largest police department in the the United States for years (NYPD). I have the K40 and the K9. I never had an issue with mine. They both are the exact same size as the Shield. If the one you shot had issues, then something simple like out to f spec ammo, a broken extractor, etc needed to be replaced...

    • @mikunan
      @mikunan 7 лет назад +1

      80sDon, Thanks for the info . The ammo was 9mm PMC . I just think the slide did not reach full forward into battery. If I pushed it manually , it would fire. There was at least 10 rounds that did not fire out of 50; but when re loaded and re-fired they were ok. I seen no firing pin marks on the primers either. Being a range gun I had no idea of its cleaning history , and it didn't look real clean.

  • @mikunan

    Thanks for the comparison, nice job. I know the distance between the trigger face and the back strap is short. Do you have a different trigger position preference , like single action format, or like a revolver position?

    Always like to see someone do a comparison of two pistols side by side.....
    Crash! Boom! Bang! Crunch!
    Now BOTH pistols are fucked!
    Glad you/they explained things so well for me/us........Lol

      Like someone shooting a nice pistol wearing a ring/s and scratched the hell out of it! Take that shit off you dumbass! Do you go down to the Chevy dealership to look at new vehicles wearing a big old hillbilly ranchers belt buckle or a chain driven wallet?
      Hell to the NO!

    I hope you’ll forgive me, but I believe this was a rather poor review. While you explained the external dimensions adequately, you missed three quite important - and entirely affiliated - points:
    1. Because K9 (and K40) series Kahrs are somewhat heavier, they reduce muzzle flip and recoil noticeably, which is obviously significant in compact and subcompact defensive firearms.
    2. Similarly, the K series’ additional barrel length provides increased velocity, which is also consequential especially for JHP projectile expansion.
    3. In addition, the K series’ longer slide results in greater sight radius, which improves practical accuracy.

      Good information, however this is not a review. As written in the title, it is only intended as a size comparison. I added extra thoughts about certain aspects out of habit, but really I just wanted to show the sizes.
