Hey Brother, take care
12 gauge probably
Winchester "Silvertips" were originally developed specifically for werewolf hunting. They were so effective that werewolves are nearly extinct. Winchester kept the Silvertip in the lineup because they are effective on other game also (who knew?) and, y'know...just in case.
And all of this time I thought it was because of the lone ranger.
@@harpintn The Lone Ranger was using Silvertips for "off label" uses.

All creators should aspire to be you. You are the pinnacle of RUclips. Keep it up.
💯couldn't agree more, this feels like good old youtube
Honestly, I think you would want to have a silver-plated, or otherwise coated bullet, when shooting at a werewolf. That way, the silver would not just punch straight through, like we saw with these bullets, and instead would be left behind inside the body to continue to apply the magical damage over time effect against the werewolf.
I'd go for pellets, like buckshot, personally.
Silver pellet in the cavity of a hallow point.
@natwolf687 exactly what I was going to say.
Beasts of the field .....gulfs grown, rule nothing out.....😮
@@natwolf687 there is a book serries called monster hunter international by Larry Correia. in his book he wrights that very idea.
Silver, splitting slug with a fine silver powder:)
Incase anyone was wondering, the amount of silver Scot shot today was: 9mm = 121 grains, .45 = 197 grains, .44 Mag = 185 grains, .500 Mag = 272 grains, .308 = 182 grains and the .50 BMG = 752 grains for a total of 1709 grains. Silver is valued at $0.0438 per grains, so the value of these bullets was $82.55. Then there was the 12 gauge with 1.4 oz of silver, the silver value per oz. is $23.38. This means the 12 gauge was worth $32.73. So the Grand Total is $115.28 worth of silver shot by Scott.
Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for.
Wow, thanks for that, I was wondering how much it would be, it’s a bit of dedication Scott has to make us laugh
The Lone Ranger used silver bullets too!
My calculator died.
$200 dollars worth of tables
Scott, I would think the .45 caliber would be the one you'd want. The silver stayed in the werewolf thereby keeping the spell working. All the others blew through and let it come back to life, except for the .50 cal. That was pretty definitive.
100% agree, came on here to say the same but didn't need to.
I concur
Undeniably so. 👍
Indeed! The silver shot would also be effective too
Agree, the silver prevents regeneration. If the silver is removed it's free to heal. What Scott really needed was a silver tablesmashing hammer or harpoon...
The slo-mo of that .50 cal has to be one of the greatest pieces of cinematography involving a werewolf since Teen Wolf! Well done Scott
i know right. real mind blowing stuff
Low bar, brother.
it was definitely full length feature film worthy.
agreed
"Teen Wolf"??
Damn you set the bar low didn't you? REALLY low!
"An American Werewolf in London"? "The Howling"? Literally "Silver Bullet"? "Underworld"?
Thar slow-mo of the 50bmg at point blank was the best thing I have ever seen.
I’ve seen a documentary about silver bullets. The conclusion was they have terrible accuracy and just go right through instead of stopping and expanding. So I pretty much knew you’d get the results you got.
Makes sense. Silver is a pretty soft metal, with a Brinell hardness number of just 24.5, but it's still significantly harder than the lead alloys used in modern bullets, which typically run between 15 and 20.
If you had to defend yourself from a werewolf what would you use? I hope you enjoyed today's video and thanks for watching!

Keep in mind that silver bullets don't just deal physical damage to werewolves. They also deal arcane damage, which is difficult to capture without a live werewolf.
fun fact, werewolfs don't like being captive, lost a arm trying to get one
Same here brotha mf gripped my wrist and pulled it all off. Shoulder and everything. Didn't even leave me a stub to move around.

lmfao
is 'Arcane Damage' another term for Aggravated Damage?
(Ten points to whoever gets the reference)
18:29 WEREWOLF MIST!
15:13 just took a SHOT at himself😂
The interesting thing is...if you consider the Lore around werewolves and their biological reactions to silver, one might be inclined to surmise that minimum penetration is actually MORE desirable because the longer that the bullet stays in the body, the more damage it'd do to the werewolf through autoimmune responses.
Of course that wouldn't make for a fun video, only shooting slow, under-powered rounds. Gods I love this channel. Scotty you're awesome, never change!
Right!?! I'd pick the .45 and the shotgun because the bullet/shot stayed in to continue poisoning the Were. Everything else went right through.
Silver JHP bullets would be effective.
@@neongirl Not so much since silver is hard enough it doesn't really expand. And now cursing myself I missed the Halloween event on theHunter Classic, I still have a heap of silver rounds from last year.
What if, hp filled with silver powder.
Just use hollow points made of silver?
You never know how much you needed to see a warewolf get domed by a silver 50, until you see it. 😳

Monster Hunter International is an exceptional book, written by Larry Correia. There are 6 books approximately and they are so well written! One of the best sci-fi series that I've read over these 60+ years.
Who else got confused but the 44 magnum because the thought they for sure saw the bullet hit the vest and fly off 10:32
Btw, lead has a 10% higher density than silver, so a silver bullet will have a little less mass than a lead bullet of identical dimensions. Pure silver is less malleable than lead and falls between lead and copper in terms of hardness so it will not break apart or expand as easily.
Best of both worlds. Go through more barriers while still opening a little.
Big difference between pure & sterling though.
If it kills dogman, It don't matter!
I’d heard they were lighter but I’ve never looked into it. That’s closer than I’d thought.
gold is about as heavy as tungsten if i remember correctly so would a pure gold round pack more power?
I have a lead mine on my property. (It's in a cave I found) Sometimes I find silver in it. From what I read about it, it's a pretty normal occurrence to find the two together.
Depending on the lore, you'd want the bullet to stay in. But i still love seeing the effect of how silver bullets behave. 😁
Perhaps the reason behind silver altogether is because a werewolf’s hide is tougher than your average person’s?
@@camarokidbb4347 No. Silver has antibacterial properties.
@@camarokidbb4347 The origin of silver being a bane of evil things goes way back (possibly to Judas taking payment in silver to betray Jesus), and that it's purity and healing powers (associated with 'good') would be anaethma to the 'evil' that is werewolves, vampires, ghosts etc which are usually portray as being 'evil'.
Depends on whether your story treats silver as a poison for werewolves or as an anti-magic element. In the latter case, the silver lets you overcome the werewolf's 'magic shield' and the penetration is the damage inflicted.
I was about to say the same thing... Needs to stay in the werewolf

I always thought silver jacketed ammo would probably be more efficient than pure silver bullets, both cost and terminal ballistics wise.
Terminal ballistics wise pure silver is softer than copper but not as soft as lead. Pure gold supposedly would pancake more, though.
@@gratefulguy4130
Gold would make very efficient rounds
1cubic meter lead 11tonne.
1cubic meter gold 19tonne , almost twice as dense for the volume /surface area..
@@gratefulguy4130You think? wiki lists them both at 2.5 to 3 on the mohs hardness...

This episode is definitely my favorite. Werewolf defense, now we know thanks to Kentucky Ballistics!
I'm surprised Scott's shirt collar isn't stretched out by now. Showing off the ol' battlescar is practically a must when mentioning 50.bmg.
Pure silver currently costs around $0.76 gram, a lvl 3 metal plate costs ~$60 on the low end. I'm not sure catching all the silver makes the most financial sense (290 grains = 19 grams, so less than $15 for the BMG), but I know I would want to keep them as a souvenir or for including with random merch! Thank you for going through the effort of capturing these!
Looks like closer to $40.
But yea prob just more of a joke.
Also, the vests are free sponsors. Same for the gel. Both which costs more lol.
@carsonhunt4642 oh wow! I was way off!

That USCCA self-defense insurance policy isn't going to help you if you get charged with a crime as insurance companies cannot under any circumstances defend you against the crime that you have been charged with or a self-defense shooting that you are being charged with as a crime. Just saying, I have self-defense coverage but it's not through USCCA, however I am also thinking about going a different route called Attorneys On Retainer

I feel the 45 would be what you want to use because the silver stays in the body and is toxic to the werewolf
Yeah but it's head went into orbit with the 50 bmg. That has to work too
I agree, the 45 and the 12 gauge would the way to go because the silver stayed in it. However the 50 bmg seemed to work as well.

50bmg was CRAZY! I love your videos!
Silver is about five times harder than lead, which is why these rounds hold up better than your standard lead bullets. Also makes it better for getting through that tough werewolf hide!
It being so much harder also makes the bullet less accurate because the rifling doesn't affect it as much.
That wolf in france didn’t the hunters use silver bullets made from church crosses blessed by a priest?
@@somecsguy9824 You win some, you lose some.
@@tomhenry897 That was a tale spread by an abbot about a century after the fact.
@@somecsguy9824should still affect it enough. The rifling is hardened steel and the bullet is traveling fast so it is heating up while it’s sliding through the barrel so it should be able to get enough spin especially if shot from a rifle.
I wonder how many times Scott and Matt are going to grab freshly fired rounds out of something and shout “Ow. That’s hot!” Yeah, the fireball out of the barrel should have told you.

Very Lovingly Crafted, but we enjoy watching them get destroyed.
The USCCA's "Liability insurance policy" has a clause that does not pay out if you are criminally charged. Since being criminally charged is what a lot of people who use a gun in self-defense are concerned about, the USCCA might not be who you think they are when you need them.
Exactly- Heavy Duty Country did a video on them
So it’s a scam like all other insurance companies? lol jk thanks I didn’t know this actually
Which is a big problem, definitely, but is it surprising? I have to imagine that the onus of showing you were under dire threat and had to shoot someone for self-defense reasons falls on the victim. And proving that can be difficult unless there's a ton of witnesses to say the person shot was acting erratically or was armed & dangerous to show clear need.
That's very true. I wonder if Scott knows that. It's very dishonest and misleading.
@@adamjohnson6432Likely not these companies are good at selling their bullshit until you dig deep to find all the little clauses they hide in small print.

This is one of the most fun gun channels on the web! Who gets to clean up the mess when he is done?
Ever recover a bullet and reload it on the range? You’ll probably destroy the rifling, but it would be interesting to see how many times you could catch and re-fire the same bullet.
It would be very expensive to refill a bullet with gunpowder and reshooting it over and over?!.
@@knrz2562 Brass casings are often reused to make ammunition at home. This is actually much cheaper than buying factory new ammunition. Reusing projectiles is not a thing generally, as they are both harder to recover and usually deformed at minimum.
@@KevBotM Depends, if the range allows lead it used to get collected, melted down and recast for shooting or sold to scrap dealers. Not sure how well that works on lead free ammo, and of course jacketed rounds you need to separate the jacket first but recasting rounds is very much a thing especially for folks with rarer caliber rifles since they often need to cast their own since they can't source ammo frequently, just getting/making the molds is a challenge.
@@knrz2562there is a very devout group of gun owners called reloaders that reuse spent casings and even make their own bullets. There is a certain criteria that must be met to ensure no case ruptures but with how pricey ammo is, it’s becoming more common to reload your own ammo, especially niche or expensive ammo

According to the book "Monster Hunter International", it's cheaper to make regular bullets with silver powder suspended throughout (called sintered metal). They also give better ballistic results.
Oregon trail loads silver lead alloy bullets that have very good ballistics for lead alloy. They're also fairly hard, so you can drive them faster in a carbine without the need for a gas check. In rifle calibers, you shouldn't definitely use a gas check for the increased pressure.
But only the MCB gets those bullets

The vest infront of the water jug was a great idea... though i think it would have been better off strapping the vest to the jug and shooting though the jug with the vest as a stopper behind the jug. That way the water would slow any round enough to refuse full penetration of the vest. Making the rounds that much easier to retrieve.
In saying that i am surprised the 45 didnt go through...

They pretty much act as a brass solid, just not as tough. Still pretty amazing to actually see it put to the test!
You should try solid gold rounds next they are a bit softer metal and should get the expansion you are looking for!
This is why, if you're read the Monster Hunter International books from Larry Correa, they used .45 hollow points with a silver ball embedded in it and .308 with a silver core penetrator.
For those wondering, he used roughly 4.70oz of silver, silver is currently $22.64USD/oz. So total price for silver is around $110USD. Scott lives in a double wide refrigerator box in today’s current housing market. I hope you got it back bud. 😂
