Hello, any comparison to the sig 365, hellcat, and m&p? I am aware those are better pistols but im not looking to spend $600+ on one. How does your cm9 hold up against those?

    • @won8135
      @won8135 Год назад +2

@musaabr Good question. The Sig is about the same size, very close and of course carries more. The Shield is bigger and again, carries more. Shooting characteristics, all three are excellent. The Shield is probably the most accurate and softest shooting. The sig and kahr are similar. Both good. Not jumpy pistols. Reliability... the Shield is tops and that's important. The Sig is considered more reliable but my Kahr has never misfed. So it's a toss up. The kahr is 100-200 $less. And that's something to consider. Understand this though, none of the 3 are true pocket pistols. Not even the Kahr. Too big for normal clothing or summer carry. So, it's up to you. All very good choices. Hope that helps.

Update, I have two CM9's. Thousands of rounds through mine and totally reliable. I have a number of guns in this class to include the Sig 365. That gun stays in the safe, I love my Kahr so much more. Actually less recoil even though it weighs 2 oz. less. Not as snappy. The Kahr is perfect size and weight for EDC. Big fan boy of these guns. Worth every nickel I paid and never looked back.

Regarding "C vs P" build and reliability...I have a 5,000 round CW9 (slightly bigger brother to CM). No breakage, excellent accuracy, and just as reliable as my Glocks. Had it for 5 years, and bet my life on it daily. G43 is on my "must buy" list, but it keeps getting bumped down cause I already have an outstanding CCW pistol (and limited funds).

Have had a PM9 for a couple decades (CM9 wasn't available until about 2011). Outstanding carry pistol that has never malfunctioned in any way. Also have a TP9 (bigger version of PM9 with same trigger feel) as the longer barrel and grip is a little more fun for practice.

  • @slimjim7411
    @slimjim7411 7 лет назад +2

CM9 is also cheaper because of quality control. The top round in the mag actually flips up to feed. Recoil causes it, as does inserting the magazine. When you do so with the slide closed it gets pushed back down so it can hang when you rack it unless you do so very hard.
Manual says it's intended to be carried condition 1 for that reason.

Okay Hickok, after hearing you extol the virtues of Talon grips for the umpteen thousandth time, I finally took a look at their website. I just couldn't justify $18 for a little piece of rubberized sandpaper. Instead I cut a piece of bicycle inner tube (a little less than 1" in diameter) I had out in the garage, and stretched it over the grip. The aggressive checkering on the CM9 really holds it in place well, and the checkering actually shows through the rubber. And you're right - it made a HUGE difference in the way that little fella feels in my hand. I have to say, putting a little something on that grip was excellent advice. Thanks!

I carry a CW9 daily, and also have a CT380, CW380 and a CT45. All are excellent shooting weapons, accurate and reliable. I've not had one issue with any of them. I was apprehensive about buying such a small 9mm and assumed that the recoil would be to snappy and unmanageable; hard to keep on target. But this weapon is extremely easy to shoot and follow up shots are quick. You'll only get two fingers on the grip, but that's the trade-off for such a small weapon and it's enough to control the gun easily. Get yourself one. You'll be glad that you did

I've owned a P9 for six years and in that time have had exactly zero malfunctions of ANY kind. Always goes bang when it's supposed to. I've owned a CM9 for two years and in that time, same performance, zero issues of any kind. I carry one or the other every single day, and in south Florida that means through the hottest most humid temperatures in the country. The one thing that I do wish Kahr would do is improve the magazine design, it sticks out, and also, until break in, the smaller CM9 did not want to feed the extended 8 round magazines 100%. However, I gladly go out the door with the standard mag pistol every day. And in south Florida, the CM9 is available for $400 or slightly less if you look.

I just wanted to say how much my husband and I enjoy your videos--you are an amazing shot and have helped us so much with all the helpful information you provide. I just got my Talon Grips for my Karh CM9 and it has made an amazing difference for me. I have a pain condition which has not only weakened my hands but has made them far more sensative to pain. I loved my Karh before--it's a great gun and fits nicely in my purse and in my hand, but I was having trouble racking it and until today, it was simply painful to hold and handle because of harsh ridges on the grip. I took it out shooting today and I shot my best. I am having no pain at all while firing and it is far easier to rack. And now that I've put about 450 rounds through it, I did not have a single FTF which was a major concern before. Those Talon Grips were very easy to apply and made all the difference in the world! (We are sending back the Sandpaper Pistol Grips for the hubby's DB9 for Talons--these grips are just too complicated and rough on the skin for our purposes.) So thank you and keep shooting (and posting)! PS, we want your backyard! ;)

Totally agree about the Talon Grips - I had never put them on any of my guns but I ordered some for my CM45 and it makes a huge difference! I just ordered a CW9 this week and might get some for it too.

Own all the major brands. Kahr CM9 only model I ever returned for repair. When doing a mag dump the very last round (7) F2F would jam. To Kahr's credit they fixed the issue. Tiny little gun.

Great video as always Hickok. You definitely got me back into shooting. Got my first pistol last week (springfield 1911). Took it out yesterday for the first time and was shooting some great groupings. No doubt thanks to your videos.

I bought a PM9 two years ago at a great discount, only $570 + tax. The extra two mags was the biggest bonus in my opinion.
I also had to add Talon rubber griptape. The grip was almost too thin without the added thickness.

Got my cm9 a few years ago. Bout 4000 rds through it. Only problems I've had is the magazine catch try's to rust from laying on my skin. And also the feed ramp hit the magazine follower and broke the face off. Kahr sent me free replacement parts. No other problems. Love this little gun to carry in summer time. When u buy a new Kahr Google "proper prep of a new Kahr". Follow instructions on that forum and u won't have any problems with the gun.

Well, its been about 5 years since your cm9/pm9 comparison. I currently own 2 khar cm9's and a cm45 among all my other guns. I own some glocks and a sig p365 too. What I have decided is that while the khar was my first choice, now it is limited in round count and is not as reliable as a glock or the p365.
When I compared my khar to my glock, I noticed a major difference. The back of the glocks were longer, meaning that the feed ramp was at only a slight angle, while the khar feed ramp was much steeper. The steep feed ramp led to more stovepipes. In fact, I felt the khar was only about 85% reliable, while my glocks and sig were 100% reliable.
I also notice on my cm45, there were multiple feed issues and closer spaces. Lately I had a light primer strike and tried to rack the slide. The round that hadn't gone off was caught in the ejection port beause was too big to easily fit through.
My point here is that with all the new carry options, khar has not done enough to stay ahead of the pack.

I just purchased a Kahr MK9 so I had to watch Hickok45 shoot a Kahr. The best part, he hits the turkey with the first shot then misses the cowboy the next two rounds, go figure.
    Hickok, you are the best.

I have a PM9 and it's really nice! Changed the trigger pull, got the factory barrel nickel boron coated, changed the plastic plunger inside the slide and installed a Galloway flat trigger. Overall I've fired hundreds of rounds, after you break in the gun per the instructions it's really ultra reliable!!!

They're sweet little guns, regardless of configuration. If you really must have the melt treatment, polygonal rifling and the rest, your choice is clear. And you're right, this is a great time to be in the market for a small pistol in general. All the manufacturers small to large competing for that slice of the expanding pie and what a group of options we have as a result.

got this gun for my brother for his wedding gift ( didn't get his wife anything) told them they had to share. The gun is amazing, my brother cc's everywhere and its the smallest 9mm ive ever held, makes my shield look big. My brother was a bit confused with racking the slide, he contacted khar and they said its in the manual, who reads the manual? Great vid Hickok45 keep it up!

I purchased my CM9 at a dealer in Columbus GA for $299.00 plus tax. That was a very nice price. I have owned three pistols that have never malfunctioned even after thousands of rounds; a Sig M11A1, a Glock 36, and my Kahr CM9. I have owned a Kahr .45 that was not reliable. But my CM9 works every time. It is almost always in my pocket. Great gun, great price, perfect reliability so far. That's pretty good.

I installed a Hogue Handall Junior on my CM40. 40 S&W is a bear out of a 15 ounce pistol like this, the grip really helps you control the recoil. I used to use the talon grip rubber, but they didn't work as well as the Hogue.

I carry a Kahr PM9 (NY reload) and CW 9 with a extra CW 9 (7 rounds) magazine, in a buck knife leather case. This plain 7 round mag fits both pistols. Don’t need that plastic piece shown extending from the CM 9. 22 shots available. You will note very heavy springs. It’s a +p package that is durable. The trigger is like a custom DA revolver but shorter. In 2024, Kahr is coming out with another trigger , shorter pull length and take up.

The CM9 is a great choice, unless you want night sights. If you do, you might as well get the PM since with the CM you'll have to pay to get the slide machined. That was the only reason I sold mine.

  • @caseyc408

I bought a PM9 years back, carried it a lot. I liked it but sold it as the more I carried the better I got at carrying larger guns. Served me well though. Trigger is very long with a very long reset, but it's smooth like buttered glass.

i had great luck with my cm9. it fed all fmj and hollowpoints i fed it. i had about 600 or so rounds through it before i sold it. i only sold it because i bought it for a pocket gun but it was bigger than i wanted for a pocket gun. printed in some of my pants but not all.
mine had no problems using the slingshot method on a full mag. cool little gun though, id recommend it. i got mine for $350 bucks

It's pretty good little gun and it's nice to see it with the Talon Grips on it....

Another good review (would I expect anything less...) I really like the CM9. Smaller than the S&W Shield and Glock 43 cheaper than the PM9. I am gonna disagree about the use of grip tape on this particular pistol but that's a personal preference.

I have a K9, it hangs that first round as well. Mine has 1500+ ends through it, and still hangs of you don't use the slide stop to release the slide. That being said, I love it!!!

Just purchased my cm45 late 2020, she runs like a clock and nothing to complain about other than little flexing/slop between the rail and the slide when in ready position. (Basically looks like the milling in the rail is a good +0.005 thousandths oversized allowing the front of the slide to give, going up and down more than it would if the rails were thicker or if the milling groove was little tighter tolerance) Also I prefer at least a 6 round clip but 5 is what it comes with. I purchased a 7 round but that's accessory related.

  • @joethomas1427

I had a Kahr CM9 and the slide would not always lock back after the last round was fired. To me it had more felt recoil than the S&W Shield 9mm or the Beretta Nano 9mm. I sold it. The Kahr CW9 locks back every time on an empty magazine and has less felt recoil, plus it holds one more round in the magazine, and after firing several hundred rounds, it is the one I would recommend.
