Fair play for reacting to a tune that most other YT channels don't seem to touch. This tune 'Angels' and the whole album that this is on, called 'Mezzanine', is an atmospheric masterpiece which was ahead of its time (1998) in terms of its heavy and dark influences.
I understand why Mezzanine is many people's favourite Massive Attack album, and it is an album that seems to have grown extremely influential over the years, but when it first came out, everybody was pretty much still in love with Massive Attack's 'Blue Lines' album.
Having said all that, I actually prefer the less popular 'Protection' album (which is wonderful, although the group themselves ended up wishing they had never included their ropey cover of 'Light my Fire' as the album's last track).
Anyway, I recommend 'Teardrop' and 'Man Next Door' from the same Mezzanine album, as well as 'Safe from Harm' and 'Big Wheel' from the Blue Lines album, and also 'Three', 'Karmacoma', 'Spying Glass' and the single called 'Protection' from the album of the same name.

It's so awesome to me that you fully understood the message of this video, and that it can be applied to a lot of things. I am an addict, currently in recovery, and also severely mentally ill. If I tell anyone what my illness is, they are usually off put. Some doctors and therapists refuse to treat me because they genuinely don't have the skills required to help me learn to act normal. I fear everything, I fear eyes looking at me, I fear the thoughts of the person looking at me, I fear what they're capable of, I fear every car that drives by my house slowly, I fear myself, I fear my fate and last but NOT least I fear the only thing that gives me any kind of solace in this world: Drugs.

That, and of course your "shocked face"!! :)
    (and Zappa...always Zappa)
Please don't let this be the last from this phenomenal album. "Teardrop" or "Inertia Creeps" are two outstanding tracks too.The entire album is just so atmospheric; warm and luxurious.

“ Teardrop “ and “ What Your Soul Sings” are a must. Also if you haven’t seen “ Unfinished Symphony “ try that also. Another group to follow is Zero 7 with a quirky blonde Australian being one of their chief songwriters as well vocalist. I’m talking about Sia. And this is before her solo career and the hair thing.

Actually idea for the video is taken from one small masterpiece novel by Montenegrian writher Branimir Scepanovic - Usta puna zemlje (Mouth Full of Earth) In life they will all run after you only if you let them, and if you understand that when they push you to the wall and see it's only the system how they do, and that they can't do nothing if you don't let them anymore run after you, they will run away from you, no matter how big crowd or institutions they are.. video makers understood the book very well..

first, as a Massive Attack listener/collector/"fan", i heard this entire album on day 1.. when i saw the video afterwards, i had a quixotic assumption of fear, but the meaning is already revealed in its title.. the people following him were his (guardian) angels.. they simply "needed" to keep up w/him.. he ran on a "seeming" (& understandable) gut (societal) reaction, but they wanted to make sure they kept him under their protective sight.. at first watch, decades ago, i too had that "wtf/why are they chasing him" reaction but then realized that they were WITH him.. like an "angel".. just my $0.01.. thank you for your reaction! btw, they were the LAST concert i saw (2019) before CoVid19.. it was the 20th anniversary tour of that album, remastered, w/brilliant guest vocalists like Elizabeth Fraser, etc.. (oh, gods, her live version of "Teardrop" from that same album was incredibly moving that night!)

Great track from a great album. Perhaps Massive Attack's last truely classic album -- 'Mezzanine' (1998). It was a big progression from their 'Protection' (1995) album; they really evolved through their first 3 albums.

It's as if all these adults were secretly playing a game of It without telling him. They were "It", chasing him, and now he's "It" chasing them. I often wonder about the playground games children play, without needing any instructions, the games and their rules seem to spontaneously appear. They aren't taught by the older generation, and adults forget how to play those games. But what if we did carry on playing those games, instead of organised sports and wars and business competition? I think we'd be better off.

But NOT THIS version of the song, I didn't (I chose the lyric version). My own interpretation is that they turned out to be playing a game of "TAG you're it"-- But the spectre of *mob violence* made me NOT share this version.
