    I carried a 26 for years. With the development of all the micro 9’s I put the 26 aside. I tried the G43x and the P365. They carried the same as 26 for me except not as comfortable to shoot and I was not as accurate with them. I’m back to carrying the 26 and am happy

    Carry 19 and 26. Wife carries 26. We prefer the platform as we can both shoot well with them and all our mags, ammo, accessories and holsters can work with both. Helps that it's simple enough for wife to maintain it and field strip it. Her biggest push was being able to pick up and shoot in night break in without having to fumble with different mags, caliber and controls. Whether she picked my mine or hers, she'd shoot the same all across the board. I also don't like having to reinvest into new platform, I'm too much of a cheapskate. Think the same with my power tools, own all DeWalt since that's what I already have.

    I actually own the 19, 43, 42 as well... many wheel guns...lots of others... but the 26 is as small as the 43...and has the capability of the 17 with just my back up mag. 28 rounds total are with me every day. EVERY DAY. I've never had one hickup on my 26...the only mods are XS big dot sights (after 9 years I got a new set a couple years ago). I keep the internals stock for reliability. A Gen 4 G26 is my gym shorts/non-permissive environment gun. It's very shootable for its size. I get that there are lots of shootable compacts, subcompacts, and models in between these days. It's important to do some research and ideally get training and rent some examples to have an idea of what you want in a gun. The width of the grip works for me and I personally wouldn't want a single-stack subcompact 9mm for reasons of grip comfort and shooting experience. Your mileage my vary.
    The 26 is a plenty viable option and brings the perks of being a double-stack Glock 9mm to the table. The track-record, OEM and aftermarket support, and the ability to use larger Glock magazines speak for themselves.
    It made sense for me when I got it, as I was training a lot with a Gen 3 G17 (yep, still have it). If I were shopping today for a striker-fired subcompact, would I choose something different? Maybe. Maybe not. Walther and HK come to mind. Either way, I'm considering acquiring a P30SK to fill the same chunky subcompact 9mm role due to my developing preference for DA/SA...but I won't get rid of the 26. It's a classic design because of good old functionality.

    I went through owning the 26 for the first time maybe 10 or 11 years ago, maybe a little longer. Then I rolled out of it and tried the SR9c, the M&P9c and some others. It wasn't long before I realized that I'd made a mistake and didn't know what I'd had was what I was really looking for in the first place. Needless to say I now have 3 of them and use one regularly. Like some of these other postings below, I also have a 43x and while it made tons of sense on the front side, now I'm really not in love with it. It makes great sense logistically but it's awkward (to me) as far as shooting. I mean it shoots fine and all, but the 43x isn't at all natural and intuitive for me during shooting. I do however really like the 43 (no x) as a carry gun and for me is easier to shoot than the X. Can I shoot it like a 26? Not this guy..

    I shot my friends 26 and just didn’t like the grip being so thick and short, I have medium hands and the 43x/48 just feels better for me but I’ve also seen people dislike the 43x/48 grip with wider hands so it really comes down to your preference and whichever allows you better purchase.

Nobody wants to Glock 26 Gen 4 or Gen 5 brand new. They want the Glock 43x I've also heard rumors that Glock will eventually discontinue the g26 either way they're both excellent handguns. The Glock 26 is just a little baby Glock 17. The Smith & Wesson Shield and the Smith & Wesson M&P metal. And the Smith & Wesson CSX are huge competition to the Glock micro and full size handgun competition..

    Love the 26 & the standard 43. When I carry my 26 I use a G17 mag for a back-up. 9mm recoil isn't unmanageable in general but I definitely feel my follow-up shots are quicker with the 26 as it's heavier. Idk, there's just something I dig about the 26 but I also prefer the 17 over the 19 which puts me in the minority.

      I can't understand why people want a 17 mag when you could gonon the middle and get a 19. I thought about all of this when I got my G17 Gen5 and my wife got her G26. Personally, I don't like how the 26 is blocky and top heavy and it is harder for me ro hold, unless I put a 17 or 19 mag in it. That's just my experience with the 26. Final thoughts: If the 26 is too short and people carry an extended mag, it makes it pointless IMO and I would just get a 43X, 19, or even the 17 . I CC a 17 everyday and it's comfortable, especially with the right holster. Safariland makes great holsters

    • @taasch2505
      @taasch2505 Год назад

      @@MemphisMojo15sno it does make sense to choose the 26 because the 26 has the ability to be carried in more ways. You can get uses to any gun if you train with it. Most people just want to train under ideal conditions. You have to get yourself uncomfortable and train like that. I like the 26 because I can put a 12 or 15 round mag in with a grip extension, or I can carry it with flush mags in my pocket. And I do wear basketball shorts on my long walks in the summer, so I'm not strapping my usual 30SF because I'm not using a belt. The 26 can be just as accurate as a 19 with practice inside of self defense distanced. So for me, good enough. And if I want a compact like a 19 I already have my 30SF and my Springfield XD-40.

    There is a lot of girth on that grip that will shrink bigger hands. Plus the felt recoil must be less because of the wider back strap. I think it lends itself to .40 cal nicely and isn’t there a 10mm version? As a concealable weapon I am sure the circumference of the grip will keep it on the table as a prominent option if u want something small and still be able to hold on to it.

    I have both the 43x (purchased first) and the 26 in both gen 3 and 5, I weigh 130 and have a slender build and honestly the 43x, while it feels amazing to hold in the hand, that extra inch makes the difference between it printing on my body or not, the 26 may be a little fatter but it conceals far easier and better on my body type and it takes the rest of the Glock mags to boot, I absolutely love the 26… it’s pretty damn well perfect. I get it, but G43X for my EDC. For me, the thickness is the most important dimension for IWB. When I used to IWB carry my G26, I always asked myself "why" when I could carry my G19 just as easily since it's the same exact thickness. The tiny little extra bit of grip length is negligible to conceal for me, same as on the G43X. And, I much appreciate a full finger grip.

    hank you-Great video. I bought a Glock 26 Gen 4 moded and I shoot the best with it over the Glock 43X and the Sig P365 &P365X. I own all of them. I am 5-8" and only 115 lbs. I print easy. The compact is required for me. The Glock 26 seems to me to feel more stable & more of a substantial feeling. It does not seem as "Snappy" as the others mentioned. I do like the 10 round with a pinky extender as well as a Glock OEM Glock 19 (15 round) magazine with an X grip sleeve spacer, so there is no gap-giving me the grip handle of a Glock 19. There is something about the Gen4, no matter if it is the 26 or 19 that seems to feel great. The groves for fingers feel great. On my Glock 43X I use the Houge rubber sleeve grip (15.00) that gives me the finger grooves as well as aaa more substantial purchase on the 43X. I highly suggest people give the Houge grip a chance. I have subscribed as this is the first of your channel I have seen. Take care-Shawn.

    I have carried a 26 as my summer CCW for years the only thing I have changed is I use a 12 round Pmag. giving me a total of13. It only adds about 3/4 of a inch to the grip length this grip extension gives me room for my little finger on the grip while still having a shorter grip than the 43. As most CCP will tell you it is the guns grip that prints the most especially in the summer. So I'll just keep the 26 I would rather have the extra 2 rounds and a shorter grip with a gun that is only a 1/4 inch wider

    First carrier shield when it first came out. Switched to xds mod 1 then fell in love with the walther platform. Carried pps m2 and creed for home defense. Side note...walther creed has the best trigger I personally have ever shot til this day. Stumbled across a great trade in offer for the both of them and picked up a gen 4 Glock 19. I "did" like it but during the summertime and times where I was dressed light, it was a pain to conceal. Rented a 26 at the range one day when I had my 19 and surprisingly shot the 26 better. Time passed didn't think too much of the 26 and always said to myself I would NEVER carry a 26 as it is just unappealing to me. Went to a local gun store and they had 2 Glock 26's and after holding one I said why not. Grabbed the gen 4 over gen 3. Adopted appendix style carry and added night sights to go along the magazine versatility I am super happy with my 26! One thing I have realized and don't hear people talking about it is how deceiving the Glock 26 looks on videos and in pics. I always thought it was this big clunky, blocky and bulky firearm but in person it isn't. I'm 6'3" 230lbs and it's the perfect size for me. I appendix carry with an extra 15 round mag in a holster and have absolutely no issues. I'm not a Glock fanboy but I do love my 26!
