I just downgraded from a Glock 17 to a 19. I actually haven't had the Glock 17 in years, but I was considering either buying another one or going with something smaller. I'm a petite female with tiny hands, so I think it's going to be a lot more comfortable for me. I can't wait to pick it up next week 🎯 I was going to get a sig P365 or 320 but I'm used to Glocks and, honestly the sig is a bit intimidating with the girth of it (that's what she said) but seriously, it's a bit thicker, and since the price point was there with the Glock 19, I decided to go with that this time. I'll probably eventually either get a Glock 17 or a p365 in the future but I'm happy with my recent purchase. I think it will work out nicely for my size. I'm 5'5 and fluctuate between 115 and 130lbs.

I am surprised when people say the the G17 and the G19 has the same feel of recoil.. Recoil is a simplistic term that lumps reaction force, muzzle flip up and muzzle dive all in one term. I have noticed that the G19 slide dynamics is much more balanced in reciprocation due to the shorter length leading to less reciprocating mass. I first hated the G19 short grip as it used to pinch my pinky finger between the magazine plate and the bottom edge of the frame grip.. As such I ditched the G19 and got a glock 17 that I enjoyed shooting IDPA matches for 10 years, until last year when I shot my friend's G19 with an after market cut under the trigger guard. That little extra cut under the trigger guard allowed me enough space to raise my grip by about 0.25 inches enough to land my pinky on the grip and avoid the pinching of my pinky with the mag plate.. Then I discovered what a nice more balanced reciprocating slide the G19 has.. I ended up buying a G19 and did the cut under the trigger guard, and eversince I shoot my G19 more than my G17 for that sweet balance.

      Gen 4 19, Gen 4 17 and Gen 5 26.
I tend to carry the 26 with the OEM 10rnd mag with two OEM 15rnd mags as spares.
This seems to work well for me most of the time.
Likewise, when I carry my 19, I back that one up with two 17rnd mags.
In all cases, especially when traveling, any one of the three is additionally backed up with 2 33rnd OEM mags in the console.
That was excellent content and I WILL be giving my G17 a try and carry it more often.

I have literally put thousands of rounds through this over the years and never had a single malfunction - Not even one... People have offered to buy this from me on multiple occasions and I would never part with this gun. I have used it as my daily carry since I bought it - and I conceal carry. No one ever knows that I have it on me. So, the 17 is very concealable. I have shot the 19 as well and there is very little difference, if any.... I have shot many different guns from many different manufacturers. There are many really good guns, but I swear by Glock.

All 3 ; 19, 17, G45 are great guns and I don't think anyone can make a mistake with which ever one they choose. I personally love the Glock 45 9mm the best and it is the smoothest fastest shooting Glock out there with the longer grip and shorter barrel, such a sweet balance. This is My personal/professional choice. And with the Rise with each shot of the factory barrel, I've opted to a Double Compensated barrel. Now there's no twist or Jump of it at all and there's a better feed ramp. Now it's not only more accurate and doesn't jump, but now I can use unjacketed rounds, firing pure lead rounds. The safety is my finger and I don't Israeli carry. After all of my military and sheriff's dept training and decades of professional experience, this is my set-up and it works flawlessly.

I started carrying concealed in 2012 with a Taurus Millenium G2 which,by the way, likes hot loads and a serious grip for best functionality, to carry concealed. In 2016 I bought a Glock 19 Gen 4, added a stainless steel threaded barrel, an MCarbo trigger, ghost ring tridium sights, and put a hogue grip sleeve on it. 17:00, I would only note that a g17 length mag was used for the one handed shooting trial with the g19 therefore giving it some more weight and even length to the grip for the shooter. Although I do not think the grip length was utilized by the shooter and the plus is the G19 Can utilize G17 as well as G19 mags, for test purposes one should shoot the G19 one handed with its own mag for weight comparison when it comes to felt recoil and such, for said testing purposes only. many G19 carriers wont be wielding a G19 with a G17 length mag for carry I would imagine

I have owned pistols from various companies for almost 40 years, including Glock's. Whenever, I watch a Glock video I alway hear the same phrases over and over like: "they just work", "they are dependable and reliable." Just like in this video. I can say that about any of my other pistols in my collection that are not Glock's too. Glock was the best striker fired poly pistol on the market when they were the only poly striker fired pistol on the market. The competition caught up to Glock and passed them up a long time ago. A Glock will serve you well, but you can get a way better pistol than a Glock for the same or lesser price of a Glock.

I do not see the sense of buying a $599.00 G17, then spend another $300.00 to replace the sights, mag release, slide release and the trigger. Now you have a $900.00 pistol. I bought my VP9 new for $625.00 and the M&P 9 for $450.00 and I have not replaced a darn thing on them because they are awsome pistols right out of the box.

With proper grip and training, recoil isn't an issue. Larger hands need a larger frame. The longer slide of the 17 assists with getting back on target faster. The 19 will clear a holster faster, and recoil can be managed, but the 17 helps stay on target which translates to getting on target faster which helps with faster follow up shots. 19 is much better for conceal carry, but depending on draw stroke, the 17 will usually be a little faster on target and will be more accurate. For how Glocks are designed, they are intended for close range combat.... 15 yrds and in. At that distance, both work just as well, so the better pistol depends on your hand size. smaller hands, get the 19. Larger hands, get the 17. If you are running a 17 mage in a 19 or an extended mag in a 19, just get the 45. I have and used all 3. All 3 are winners, so try some at the range and but the one you find the most comfortable to use. I like my 19, but for my hands the 45 and 17 fit better. 25 yrds and in for qual, I'm just as accurate with all 3. If you go MOS with an optic, sight radius doesn't matter and length wont be noticed until you fire at around 50 yrds for farther. Personal use after 17 years for experience, the 45 or 19x is the best for me but that due to hand size. Smaller hands and the 19 would be the best choice. Little more snappy but with proper grip, you won't notice it after a mag or 2.
