I just got one of these a few weeks ago. My first Glock after being a firearm owner for about 25 years. It's great. Works flawlessly with the factory and Magpul magazines. I got about 1000 rds through it already and not one issue. Changed the sights to Trijicon and I'll add a red dot at a later date. Most long time Glock owners won't see much special about the 47 but to me, it's great!
It seems like many reviewers are concluding the same thing about this model: To borrow from Shakespeare, it’s “Much Ado About Nothing.” It’s a good Glock but nothing special. Thanks for reviewing it.
I’m a little puzzled by this review. The G47 was designed to satisfy a contract for CBP, it wasn’t intended to be a revolutionary change in the design of the GLOCK, and GLOCK then decided to release it to the public. It provides an agency a few options to configure a GLOCK, while maintaining parts compatibility, which makes maintenance easier. The trigger, barrel rifling, etc. is no different than any other double stack Gen 5 9mm offering. If you’re in the market for a G17 and plan on getting a G19, then the G47 will give you more options to swap frames and slides - that’s it. Otherwise the G17 and G47, will perform the same and have almost identical shooting characteristics.
Yes some youtubers made fun of Glock about this "big improvement" but they dont get that this was just a special order from law enforcement and not even meant for the civilian market.
I was going to buy a 17 Gen 5 mos. Got a cheaper deal on the 47. I have the 19 Gen 5 mos 19. Change slides and I have a G45. Uses same guide rod as 19. Shoots good, I Ike it.
I just picked up a new G47. Was looking for a G17.5 MOS but couldn't find one. Don't know if that's because of that SKU being discontinued and the channel is already mostly dry or not. But in any event, the G47 accomplishes the same thing for me. Happy with it so far and as it's a Glock I don't expect it will let me down.
I was considering the G47 to compliment my G19.5 but I'm now reconsidering. A G45 or G30.4 would work better for my XL hands. BTW, thank you for the informative reviews!
How are people missing the biggest thing about the G47? If I'm not wrong; you can put the entire slide on a 19making it a G19L basically with easy concealment, and then put the g19 slide on the 47 so you aren't sacrificing the amount of firearms someone has either.
I own a couple Glocks and I do like Glocks but, Glock does so little to the pistols that even swapping out slides to frames is a Huge deal for them. Texture, front slide serrations, eliminating or adding frame finger grooves are all things that many manufacturers would do in 1 sweep. Not Glock, they go sooooo slow in making any changes that everyone gets really excited when anything changes. I agree that the 47 is so close to the same as a 17 that to carry it you probably aren’t going to notice much-any difference.
This is for the guys that wanted a 17 slide on a 19 frame . Now they can swap slides nothing more nothing less . And when we’re full-size guns ever meant to conceal?
Strictly speaking, this was designed for the Border Patrol who wanted to be able to mix and match parts together to tailor the handgun depending on the situation. For us non-large law enforcement agency people, the so-what is that this would allow us to get the mythical "19L", which is what you are describing. The Border Patrol isn't interested in the 19L, but they wanted to be able to convert between a 19, a 45 , and a 47 easily... there 19L is basically just a happy accident from this swappability
The best thing about this Glock is that if you already have a Glock 19 gen 4 or 5, than you can swap slides and frames and have a g19 with a longer slide, have a Glock 45 and have a Glock 17 ! That’s the real value of this particular firearm
I find this modularity very minute. The 4 variants are all so close together it didnt really akes a difference. But it wasnt Glock idea. Like you wrote the CPB wanted this.

I already own the Glock 34 and 17 therefore I just don't see getting this one unless for the optic option but I'd rather opt for the 48MOS as my carry and 19X as my house gun for now.
No mention of the modularity, which I think is the real sole purpose of this gun. You stated compact frame, but I don't think that's correct is it? It's a G17 sized frame/gun. But with the G19 barrel/slide on the G47 you get a G45. or vice versa you get a G19L. I think that's the entire point of the gun. Made for CBP for parts interchangeability.
You Must purchase this Blue Label to actually have the features the G47 was designed with for LE. Otherwise your just getting a civilian version that’s missing features. Blue Label version is similar to the G17M plus a roll mark on the slide.

I have Glock customized by myself to fit better my big hands and i like it, but this is a joke as many of their new configurations. Glock do almost nothing for the real improvement of their pistols in the last time, versus others companies as Cz, Sig, Walther....

The 47 and the 45 have the same grip frame. I just bought one .
G45 is great handgun but the G 30 is a absolute blast to shoot and most accurate 45 I have shot .
You can make a Glock 45 out of the G47 frame and the G19 slide or make a G19 long slide

Agreed. With a 19 and a 47, you are essentially getting 4 gun configurations for the price of 2.

Final thoughts. Your channel isn’t a big deal. But this gun is and it’s the best on the market.

They did. It's the G49, which paired with a G19 creates 4 guns for the price of 2. G19/G45/G47/G49.

Not sure where you got that from, but the only difference between a commercial and LE G47 would be the sights at most.
