    Thanks for making this video I personally fell in love with ceders I live in hawaii I grew up here and a cedar tree is just not common here actually I never seen them but my personal favorite is the hortsman atlas ceder I just make sure a have a good drainage soil with a bit of acidic properties and it’s very humid here so they like it and are doing very well but I still have lots more to learn from you

    wow this video was amazing ed thanks so much i stumbled on your channel by accident thank goodness for me since i have a new atlas cedar and now with this info i know to just repot without root pruning
    i wish your nursery wasn't in the middle of no where :( you are a god ed keep it up

    What if you cut back the new growth after root prune

      Although I am not massively experienced I do have 2 blue atlas cedars that I am training. Even when I slip potted them up to a larger pot from their tiny nursery pots to put some bulk on, they both shed almost all their needles afterward despite me not actually working on the roots and simply potting them up. Both recovered well the next year and have thrived since. I would do pruning at least a year after any root work.

    Lots of conflicting information in this video. Cedars don't like to have moist roots all the time. Quite the opposite they like to be a little dry depending on your climate. Ive repotted lots of cedars never lost one. Not sure what you're doing to lose a cedar if you're doing it right.
