  • In this new video we transform an unusual species that can make into beautiful bonsai. Blue atlas cedar-Cedrus atlantica 'glauca'. This tree lost some lower branches and need a proper restyle to get back in shape. Branches selection is the key to set the new bones for the future.     Great work Mauro - just what I need as I have a similar very large, problematic cedar. two questions : 1. Is branch splitting advisable on thick cedar branches and 2. Is there any way of pushing foliage back on the blue cedar?

      I envy these people. I have been doing (flailing at) bonsai for 4 years and am still very much a beginner. I'm not artistic or creative but I have fun and I think I'm getting better over time but seeing these guys looking at a tree and transforming it blows my mind haha

    Very good and beautiful final result... but in my opinion, now this tree looks much more like a pine than a cedar...

    Very nice! I was concerned about the tilting apex at the beginning but the asymmetrical balance you achieved came out looking very natural. I have a Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Boulevard' that I handled in a very similar way because it was lacking lower branches in the ideal positions.

    Bravo Sr. S il lavoro suo 'cedar' era perfetto .... diventa un pezzo d'arte ... Io ho un albero 'atlas' ma' nessuno vicino il suo e sta mancando piu' e piu' aghi del cedar ... BO? grazie per il esempio !

    Great demo love the way the tree came out. I feel these trees are underappreciated or not used soo much in bonsai but they have such a great cloud like appearance and foliage. Do u prune colorado blue spruce the same way?

    Mi piace seguire i video di bonsai, ma rimango sempre perplesso sull'etica e le costrizioni che fate alle piante in base ai parametri del vs hobby. Vero è che le piante raggiungono età anche centenarie (Giappone) ma quelle tecniche mi ricordano le giovani giapponesi che calzavano scarpe piccole per mantenere la misure dei piedi. Forse la cosa giusta sta nel mezzo, potature corrette, rinvasi, acqua, temperature opportune, fertilità . E amore per la Natura senza forzature.
    Lei puo confortare i miei dubbi in merito?
