The dealer wanted to chrage me 1,000 dollars for doing all 4 brakes. And i was going to go that route because of the electric parking brake but after seeing this video i went to rockauto and spent only 400 on high quality brakes and rotors. Thank you
Toyota has a sequence you can do inside the car to put it in brake service mode just look it up before you do the service and you can skip the last step Edit: you don’t need scanner
+1 on this comment. The sequence is super simple to perform, you can check out a couple of youtube vids and save yourself a good chunk of time and avoid possibly tweaking the servo calibration. Great vid though
You can disengaged the electronic by follow the sequences, turn on/off ignition twice then start the car, press on brake and push the left button 3 times down and then 3 times up and let go the brake then pull the button up until you see the park brake light on the dash flashing that you can use the ply to push the piston in without taking out the electronic motor.
Thanks for the video. My girlfriend is asking me to her daughters 2021 corolla LE. I've done brakes on my 2009 honda CRV but never one with EPB. I have a 2021 Mazda CX-5 now and understand there is a step on the rears to do for the EPB. Just wondering, you don't mention torque specs. Isn't that kinda important for those of us who dont do this everday and have a feel for tightening the bolts? It seems kinda important safety wise.
Hi Firestone did my brakes all 4, also all 4 new disks. Now the handbrake malfunction lights are on, please see dealer. Firestone told me to take it to dealer and Firestone will cover the cost. But my appointment is on 19th because I can not do it earlier. Any suggestions how to reset this back to normal? Thanks.
My hex bolts on the actuator won't budge at all. I think I have the right size but my hex bit just keeps spinning on the head of the bolt without grabbing it. What am I doing wrong? Btw this is my first time doing this and I don't want to end up stripping the bolt. Would a long arm hex key give me enough torque to remove it without the impact?
Hey I have a question. My right rear caliper makes a clicking noise when I step on my breaks. I had ordered a caliper. Do you think it’s a caliper issue?
I wish I would have watched this video before I changed my breaks. I started the car and accidentally pushed the caliper all the way out, and now My parking break will not work after I changed my breaks. It says parking break unavailable.
You may be able to dis assemble everything, retract the parking manually , as shown in the video, assemble everything back, unhook the battery, and reset it.

You are correct. However, we've had too many issues with the EPBs also getting stuck in service mode, so we just do them manually now.
Very helpful, thanks!!
That’s why I been lacking on working on my rear brakes for this specific reason.
No problem 👍

Nice work. I have a Kia with electronic parking break. So thank you for that heads up.
No problem 👍
2020 Toyota RAV4 you can set them in service mode to do brake job.

Awesome video
Thanks for the video.
No problem!
Hi Dan! Just wondering if what kind of lubrication did you use? I think I'd misheard when you said it. Thanks.
Hey hey the lube used for the slide pins is called sil-glyde here's a link for the one we get amzn.to/3SALiAB

As a few have commented you can always try the on board reset and see if it works if it doesn't I would soak it down with some penetrative oil
I wish I would of seen this video before 😭

It's hard to say could be something loose
Do you push the brake pedal to return the piston to his position after did this procedure
Pump up the brake pedal then engage the parking brake.
Take The reservoir cap off first before you get started. This guy let's you know halfway into the video 15:16 😂
Thanks for watching the video be sure to hit the subscribe button ill be sure to mention it first thing in the next video and give you a shout out!
Hey so I pushed my piston out like a dumb butt but anyway. Do you have any suggestions on what to do when I do push it out ?
Just did this. Did you figure it out?
You may be able to get the piston back in by spinning the parking brake screw all the way back into factory position.
Did everything work out good after completing the breaks?
Yep!

@@danthebrakeman Thank you very much sir. May God bless you.
Is it grease or what in the can
Sil-Glyde for the slide pins
Don't know why they make cars like this in attempt to force people go dealer.
