Little fun fact for you Americans ;) I ve got an Manual 2019 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack WB here in Germany. The Reactions are incredible. This car gets way more attention than cars like Ferraris or McLarens.Thumbs up everywhere and a lot of turning heads. Mustangs are quit common here, also a few Camaros are driving around but Challengers/Chargers are really exotic. Everyone love the sound of that v8( fortunatley i could keep the stock exhaust wich is very loud for German Laws/Hellcats need an quiter (shitty) exhaust for import) especially the deep tone. For those who are interested, the Exhaustvolume was measured at 97 db(A) at 3750 rpm in a distance of 0,5 m. Thats louder for example than a Camaro SS (95db) BMW M6 (93db) c63AMG (93db) Jaguar F-Type R (96 db) MCLaren 600LT(93 db) at the same conditions. Im so glad i get one of last American Beautys, until electric cars will kill the Muscle Car era.
I’m not American and your Dodge is made in Canada. Regardless, I’ve dreamt of driving a Challenger in Europe. That’s got to be both brilliant and difficult at the same time. I love it.
This and the other review you have are undeniable the 2 best reviews of these cars on the internet. The camera and audio work, the canyon carving driving impressions and video of the car being put through it's paces really stands out. I have wanted one of these for years now and in 3 days will be picking up a new to me 2022 wide body 392 in F8 green with the 6 speed and about 3800 miles. Figured enough waiting. The time is now. No electric anything for me. This car is me giving 2 middle fingers up to our insane administration and Mary Barra at GM (and everyone else that has drank the Koolaid). Electric vehicles and climate change in general are such a hoax. Electricity doesn't produce itself. Electric cars are the solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
Excellent choice. You’re going to love it! You know who’s sitting back telling the industry he told them so? Akio Toyoda. Their product strategy speaks for itself and he told the industry that there are many ways to achieve these objectives without running blindly into the EV madness. Plus, the market is speaking for itself and EV inventories are climbing. Ms Barra herself shut down their full size EV truck production a couple of weeks ago. Not paused, but shut down. There is some sanity on the horizon.
Fantastic review! As a lifetime Mustang GT/Bullitt/GT500 guy, this may be sacrilegious to say, but I could easily see myself driving that car. Love it!
This video just popped up on my feed. Starting watching all the reviews after buying my ‘21 Scat Pack Widebody Challenger 6 speed manual. Smoke show grey with black interior. I was a hardcore Mustang guy, but Dodge got this one right. Love everything about it. From the factory exhaust note, the seats, the huge brakes, the manual, the seats, and especially the torque! The car rides great, I’m not worried about the weight, I kinda like it. This is a muscle car. This is the ONLY muscle car out there. Different animal than a Coyote ‘stang. I’m in my mid 40’s and this car has the perfect mix of mean looking yet I can go out to dinner. 😂
I bought this automatic, same color in March , basicly fully equiped over 54K sticker price , have 1600 miles so far and wouldn't change for any other car in this price range
Great review, awesome video and sound. This is a gorgeous car, but just so darn expensive in Canada. I always thought 392 is the only way to go if you like to actually drive your car and now the wide body option makes it even sweeter.
My Black scat pack wide-body is in transit by rail-car now. I hope it doesn't take much longer. I purchased it last Monday. I wanted to put papers on it before it hit the dealer. They are hard to get off the lot if you don't jump on them right away
Brian Makse almost bought a Charger with the Scat Pack. Got a Giulia Ti instead, but I do regret missing out on that great sounding Hemi. Giulia is quick but engine is a typical soulless 4 pot turbo.
Like the sound better without the supercharger whine! Put some american racing headers, and flow master mufflers, or american thunder mufflers, will set the 2019 charger off 👍
I bought this car in black in March 2019. Since then I have yet to see another 392 Widebody on the road....I am guessing the reason is the price point....it’s a ton of car for the money, but $50k eliminates a lot of people and competes with a used regular-body hellcat ( from a price standpoint)
I bought this car with 6,000 miles on it last weekend. F8 green which is very unusual, and one of my favorite colors. I paid considerably less than $50K. Love, love, love this car.
I was checking out the new scatpacks and was surprised by the cheap checkered seats in the models that were $45K - $50K. Maybe ill wait for a certified used one with alcantara seats.
Help? Should I get the 2021 challenger Scat Pack T/A Widebody or a slightly used Camaro ZL1 as a weekend all around fun car? I have not driven either one yet but plan on test driving them both in the spring. I really like the Look of the Challenger but I like the performance of the Camaro ZL1
Depends on what's important to you. Manual? That's Challenger only. Four doors or a longer wheelbase? That's Charger. Happy to help, driven all of them!
I just Love my Challanger Widebody especially when I bring my golf clubs with me they fit right in the huge trunk, and you can always fold the back seats down if you need more room.
It's a fantastic handling car. and super fun....especially with a 6 speed manual gear box. Thats how my B5 blue WB Scat pack is configured but no sunroof for me. Thanks for showing your heal and toe technique. MOPAR!!
Perfect car in this configuration with manual. God they don’t build them like this any more. The only thing I change is the color, may be a dark green or grey. Sinister, great noise, and did I say manual. Great review as always. Wow what a car. Ok I hate Pirellis, May be get Michelin’s 😇😎
They do still make them! Dodge makes these! The Pirellis are a key part of the package and have been engineered into the car. I’d be curious to try PS4s on this car, though.
I am looking at the 392 or a Hellcat, I think I’ve made my decision and I think it will be the 392 scat pack widebody. I believe it’s enough horsepower at 485. I believe it’s better balanced car than the hellcat. Probably $400 cheaper insurance. I think I’m gonna go put that money on a 392 R/T scat pack widebody special order today. I also was looking at the Corvette and I specked it out at $90,000 the Challenger is specked out at $65k no brainer.
Took my '16 Scat Pack out for a ride yesterday. Ran out through Anza and Idyllwilde from Temecula. Not many people on the road. Mine is 6spd. Shaker. Believe it or not it's more fun to drive on the back roads than my Demon. If I could give any advice would be when you decide to buy, take your time and order a manual. It's worth the 8 week wait. Just happened upon your show and subscribed. Thanks Brian.
Ha ha! Thanks. Glad you found the channel. You know the difference between the Demon and the Scat Pack! You should recognize this road, but we don’t talk about it publicly. Shhh.
In the review @4:20 you mention adaptive cruise control. Yet I don't see it on the steering wheel, also no fish eye in the front lower fascia. Also wonder how that would work on a manual trans? That would be sweet if it did have it!! I do love your review, you are definitely well versed in the suspension of the car.
@Brian Makes Great video as always. I have always been a mustang fan but and giving the Challenger a fair look because I just love the way it looks. I will be driving it as my fun car and want a stick. How much of a difference does this wide body make as compared to the mustang? Would you recommend the 392 over the Hellcat as in streetable fun or would you recommend going all out or going home with the hellcat? I really appreciate your help.
Hey thanks for the excellent video!! I plan to buy one here in Germany and I want to pick it up with the 6 gear shifter too. The automatic in my former 2019 camaro was slow and sluggish in my opinion. Do you know if there is a cylinder deactivation with the shifter model? I still hope this is only for the automatic models (in fact my camaro had it and I hated it ... no way to turn it off). Thanks for your time!
Thanks, Baron! Glad you enjoyed this one. I don't believe the manual + 6.4 V8 combination has cylinder deactivation, but it's been over a year since I've driven one. I recently tested a Durango SRT with the same engine, but with the automatic, and it did have cylinder deactivation. It work very well at highway speeds and the engagement was very subtle, but appreciated on a long drive.
Hi Brian. Excellent reviews. I am a new subscriber. Could you please do a review of the new S550 Mustang GT with the PP2 package. I almost bought a 2019 Bullitt last year but decided to wait. I have short listed the 2020 Bullitt, the PP2 and the 2020 Challenger R/T Scat Pack wide body. All versions in manual transmission of course. What's your opinion of the PP2 vrs the other 2 models? Or should I wait and see if Ford might bring back the Mach 1 version on the Mustang for 2021? Thanks Brad
Thanks, Brad. Be sure to tell your friends, share on Reddit and social, and hit up our merch store! I did an editorial review of the PP2 last year. I loved it. However, unless you're tracking it often, or are going to change the tires straight out of the box, I'd go Bullitt. Wonderful car. You can't go wrong with the Challenger, either, but depends on when you're looking for the muscle car or pony car experience. I couldn't predict what Ford is going to do, GT500 is definitely the pinnacle of this gen. If you're interested, we just dropped a comprehensive GT500 review this morning. Hope that helps.
Awesome review and love how you can hear the roar of the engine throughout the video!! Have you driven a non widebody to see and feel the difference? If so what did you think?
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed. I haven’t driven a narrow body in a long time. The wider track and tires make an undeniable difference with overall grip and handling.

@@BrianMakse The widebody is so worth it! The handling is way better than my 2015 392 SRT. Hugs the road and corners way better than a car of that size/weight ever should!

So torn between getting the SRT 392 (2018) or this beast. Although the handling characteristics are definitely improved in the newer model, the SRT has those bells and whistles I'd lose with this model.

This was one sweet vid though.
Awesome review Brian ~ is this Scat manual as easy to drive as the Camaro, in terms of clutch feel & throwing the gears? That Tremec in the Camaro 1 LE is sweet...also, any thoughts on the Camaro 1LE manual having any shift problems - Ie. problems shifting into second, & sometimes, even reverse? Cheers🙏🏽
Thanks, Andy. Very different experience. The Camaro is trying hard to be a sports car, while Challenger is an unapologetic muscle car. I haven't experienced any issues with Challengers or 1LEs, but as a racing driver I'm accustomed to adapting to a given driving situation, which probably makes me a little less picky than most. I work around given problems.
HaHaHa....spoken like a true professional 🙏🏽 Did you have a chance at checking out that video on the lifter issue with the Dodge naturally aspirated automatics because of the MDS system that Dodge has, to save fuel?
@@andysen LOL. Haven't had a chance to check it out. Crushed under a pile of work this week. That’s awesome ~ you are indeed a man of many talents👍🏼 Yes, as a professional race car driver, your opinion is invaluable. I’m buying a new car & love the Challenger (do want a manual for sure). Right now the Camaro SS 1LE is a close second...Mustang misses the low end torque of the push-rod engines, which I love. However, that new Mach 1 looks promising, though it will rev high, & eventually catch the Scat. Not into modding my vehicle really ~ I prefer to buy what I like stock & just have fun driving it. Cheers mate🙏🏽
I track a s2 Exige s and suspension moded mk7 GTi. I love challenger and intrested in WB but in your opinon since ur a race car driver will it satisfy me on circuit track racing based on my track toys?
@@Joe-eg7ml It takes a little work to get power-on oversteer with the 5.7, but it's no problem. They tend to put hard tires on these things, so oversteer is easy.
I hope you're still watching the comments on this video, so here's the question: having driven the Scat Pack and multiple Hellcat versions of the Challenger, do you have a favorite? Or, maybe more to the point, is the Hellcat worth the extra cost, considering the limit on the shenanigans you can accomplish and not get arrested for on a daily basis? The extra power is pure badassery, but will it make a difference in my day if I can't find an open stretch of highway or lonely, twisty road? I'm going to be putting a widebody Challenger in the garage, but on a daily basis I swap between Scat Pack and Hellcat... I guess it's a good problem to have, but I'm waiting for some sort of sign saying 'This is the car you should choose'. Maybe some of the other readers have driven both as well? Insurance isn't a factor yet, but as my kids get older that might become an issue as well. Thanks for any replies!
Brian Makse Hey there, thanks for the reply. Definitely the manual for the trans. We have a lot of country roads around here that remind me of the roads in your video. Not tight road courses, but I’m not into top speed runs, either. I am beginning to think that I might enjoy the balanced package of the Scat over the straight line power of the Hellcat. It would be the ‘fun’ car, not a daily driver. I can still get into a lot of trouble with 485 horses. I was settled on the Scat Pack but had moments of doubt. Add to that the twin snorkel hood on the HC is not as appealing to me as the power bulge that reminds me of the 1970 AAR Cuda, so aesthetically the Scat is in the lead as well. Still, I was curious if I’d regret it forever if I didn’t consider the Hellcat. I’ve watched this video countless times and must compliment you in the effort. Sound quality, production, info, etc, are all top notch. Great product!
Uh...no. It’s not heavy unless you don’t ever bother having a leg day. I drove this through terrible rush hour traffic multiple times and it didn’t bother me at all.
Hello Brian amazing video. Need your advice I am planning to buy a dodge challenger rt scat pack widebody manual or m2 competition manual which one would you recommend as you also have reviewed a m2 in past.
Thanks, Parth. These are two very different cars in every possible way, save for the drive configuration, so it’ll come down to your preferences. My choice is the Challenger for the reasons in this vid, plus I find the M2 too harsh and too boy racer. Let me know what you choose!
@@BrianMakse thank you so much for the quick reply. I agree with you that they are very different cars. As it's going to be my first performance car I wanted to make sure I make the right choice. @@MustafaMustafa-uy6cr The things that make the hot Giulia feel special are the excellent chassis and the quicker-than-average steering rack. Reviewed that a couple of years ago, very unique machine.
Love it!
This is the only true muscle car left! And this one is so much fun to throw around!
Bought the redeye 2weeks old
Both are great cars.
American engineering has come a really long way. 🇺🇸
Great review, Brian actually sounds like a genuine car enthusiast, not a wannabe You Tuber.
Nah, some people here on RUclips pulled my car enthusiast membership card a long time ago...
Absolutely amazing how good these engines sound. Great video! I've heard it several times with sound full!
Thanks, J. That's why I record all the good sounds!
The title is dead on balls accurate: the BEST.....review. Hands down.
Indeed. Every other WB Scat Pack review should be deleted.
Nice review. Will be ordering my 2021 Scat Pack WB shaker with 6M soon. Still debating colors. Love the GoMango!
Excellent video & review of the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack by you! Thank you for posting your video!
Thanks, but don’t tell us, post it on Reddit, tell your friends and hit up our merch store!
Great review Brian. I appreciate your content. Thank you.
Thanks, Martin!
What kind of prices have you seen? I'm in Alberta and my local dealer had a scat pack (not widebody) for 63k.
I ordered one in smokeshow with a manual. Should be here in a few weeks time. Can’t wait
Congrats! Enjoy!
I got my Challenger Scat Pack widebody December 2018 I've had it little over a year and I absolutely love !
Nice work! Got lots of miles? What colour did you get?
@@BrianMakse I've put 6000 miles in 14 months and it's my daily and I live in Michigan and the salt/snow melt looks horrible on black.
@@patrickcooper2760 Perfect car for Michigan! Except the salt!
My Black scat pack wide-body is in transit by rail-car now. I hope it doesn't take much longer. I purchased it last Monday. I wanted to put papers on it before it hit the dealer. They are hard to get off the lot if you don't jump on them right away
Great choice! Enjoy! And take those splitter guards off!
@@BrianMakse I'm definitely excited about this one.
This glorious sounding NA engine with the manual transmission is the last of the old school muscle cars.
Indeed. And it sill looks fresh.
Brian Makse almost bought a Charger with the Scat Pack. Got a Giulia Ti instead, but I do regret missing out on that great sounding Hemi. Giulia is quick but engine is a typical soulless 4 pot turbo.
Great review, I love my Scat Pack Widebody!
Manual or auto?
I have a 2020 Scatpack Widebody 50th anniversary edition and it is Awesome.
You helped me make up my mind Sir.... Thank you!!
Most people don't want to kick out the 6K for the WB...but it's worth every penny.
Hemi Dave agreed....if you price out the body-kit, 20x11 rims, 305 tires, hellcat/bilstein front suspension....$6k is a great deal
I bought this car with 6,000 miles on it last weekend. F8 green which is very unusual, and one of my favorite colors. I paid considerably less than $50K. Love, love, love this car.
How is it so far after almost a year??? I am almost about to buy ine
I am looking to buy a camaro 1le package or this, how does it go around turns??
I was checking out the new scatpacks and was surprised by the cheap checkered seats in the models that were $45K - $50K. Maybe ill wait for a certified used one with alcantara seats.
My choice for sure. That engine sounds awesome. Pure muscle. Got to have the manual.
Glad you agree! So much fun!
Drive them and buy what you like!
Should I get a Challenger or charger? I’m kinda straddling the fence. Loved your narrative!
Liked your camera work. The nice foot book and foot movement - along with view out the front window
Thanks again.
It's a fantastic handling car. and super fun....especially with a 6 speed manual gear box.
Thats how my B5 blue WB Scat pack is configured but no sunroof for me.
Thanks for showing your heal and toe technique.
MOPAR!!
Glad you picked up on that, Dave. So much fun to heel and toe this one. Looking for another excuse to test one for that reason.
Another great review Brian. You managed to capture the emotion of the 392
Thanks, Sylvain. Dropping another review on the same car next week.
Shhh.
@@BrianMakse lol, yeah, I thought I recognized it. Can be dangerous at times.
Is there a difference in the manual transmission from earlier models? I see differences on how the newer models shift
The forums might know.
Such a badass car. Love mine! Got the 6M Widebody in frostbite blue.
Congrats!
What's the best looking colour for a scat pack challenger ??
@@gordonallan4054 mines Granite pearl coat .Sexy as hell looking.
How mutch lighter is the scat vs the cat?
In the review @4:20 you mention adaptive cruise control. Yet I don't see it on the steering wheel, also no fish eye in the front lower fascia. Also wonder how that would work on a manual trans? That would be sweet if it did have it!!
I do love your review, you are definitely well versed in the suspension of the car.
I shot this over a year ago and don’t recall the reason for it. There clearly was, but I don’t remember. Thanks for watching.
The manuals don’t come with adaptive cruise control.
Freakin wicked review dude !!! How about my fav = the T / A 392 bro ?
Thanks! I think this is as close as I get...for now.
This beast looks stunning in black.
Excellent review
It's the best one on the RUclipss. Hope you stick around.
You just can’t beat the raw power and sound of an N/A engine. !!
Truth!
My favorite Challenger! Awesome review!
@@BrianMakse Thanks a lot! All the best for you
@@BaronSchmatz777 i have a 19 wbsp.there is no deactivation. only on automatics

I’d get this over a hellcat and keep the spare money for track days. There’s only so much power you can put to the tarmac on corner exit
This is true, but you need to try something with sticky tires and a mid-engine...
Just bought this exact car except 2021 and has the bumblebee stripe
Right on! Enjoy!
@@BrianMakse Thanks for your prompt reply. Great advice.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed. I haven’t driven a narrow body in a long time. The wider track and tires make an undeniable difference with overall grip and handling.
Love this car but did not want to spend the extra six K for the wide body, but do wish I had the wider tires.
It’s not just the tires. You may want to watch this again.
picking my manual WB up tomorrow....should compliment the 2015 392 SRT... ;)
Congrats!
@@BrianMakse The widebody is so worth it! The handling is way better than my 2015 392 SRT. Hugs the road and corners way better than a car of that size/weight ever should!
you state it has adaptive cruise control but i do not see the controls for that on the steering wheel, are those placed somewhere else on these new widbodys?
They’re in the same spot as the regular controls - the right steering wheel spoke IIRC.
Why does a manuel come in 6speed but the auto come in 8speed? Is there a specific reason u cant have 8 speed manuel?
That's a ridiculous number of gears for a manual gearbox.
So torn between getting the SRT 392 (2018) or this beast.
Although the handling characteristics are definitely improved in the newer model, the SRT has those bells and whistles I'd lose with this model.
This.
@@BrianMakse I checked out the 2020 Challenger ScatPack Widebody - 50th Anniv. Edition at the LA auto show last Sunday.
The car is insane.
Widebody it is
I owned a 2015 SRT Challenger manual and loved it but after driving my friends Scatpack auto I’m getting the auto next (UGH) the ZF auto is so sweet I can’t resist also owned a 2017 Manual 2SS so I’m a manual guy but the autos today are to good to pass up I never thought I’d say that. This was one sweet vid though.
Yea man that ZF auto paired up with the 392 is something special!
HaHaHa....spoken like a true professional 🙏🏽
Did you have a chance at checking out that video on the lifter issue with the Dodge naturally aspirated automatics because of the MDS system that Dodge has, to save fuel?
@@andysen LOL. Haven't had a chance to check it out. Crushed under a pile of work this week. Wrote a fun story on a last minute assignment, editing Saturday's review, and shooting next week's review all at the same time. Oh, and my newest gopro got wrecked by rock. What a week. I'm going to check out that issue when I do get a chance.

No, sir. It would make a great road car and a nice complement to your current garage. It’s still very much a muscle car experience.
@@BrianMakse thanks. Does the rear kick out easily even with the 305? I live in the pnw and rains alot.
@@Joe-eg7ml It takes a little work to get power-on oversteer with the 5.7, but it's no problem. They tend to put hard tires on these things, so oversteer is easy.

@@BrianMakse Haha, yea.. The manual Challengers are surprisingly rewarding to drive..
Thinking of trading in my 19 Rebel in on one of these.
Hey Ryan, a couple of questions. How are you going to use it and what kind of roads are you driving? Manual or auto?
@@ryankrauter746 buy the scatpack. you wont regret it !
